Prologue
The Eevee was near frozen, stumbling down one of the many mountain sides of Mt. Cornet. The wind howled around him, and ice stabbed him in tiny shards, until he felt as if his entire coat was full of holes. His normally warm and fluffy fur was matted, wet, and freezing cold. He was still dazed, his trainer having left him to die.
"H-h-h-" He was shivering so badly, he couldn't even form words, and even then, no one would be there to hear them. His foot caught on a covered rock, sending him rolling down the slope, plowing through banks of snow. He eventually rolled to a stop, battered body resting in yet more cold snow. He knew he had to get up, but he was too weak.
"H-h-h-" He tried again, but couldn't form the words. But this time, there was someone nearby to hear. He heard a voice, saw a flash of brownish-red fur, and felt teeth digging into his scruff.
"Come on, Eve, stay alive." The voice said.
"W-w-w-" He tried to say, as he was dragged out of the wind.
"Hush." The voice said. It, she passed in front of him, and he realized it was a vulpix, and that they must be in a cave. It was lit by a small pile of burning sticks, And was large enough for a den of sneasles.
"The fires not going to be enough." He is heard the vulpix say, to herself.
The vulpix dragged him closer to the fire, laying him out in front of it, before awkwardly laying down on his other side, flinching a little when she touched his ice cold pelt, and then pressing her pelt into his, trying to warm him before the cold managed to kill him.
"It's going to be a long night for me." The vulpix said, the last sound the eevee heard, other than the howling of the blizzard, before slipping into a dreamless sleep.
