Introduction
This is all a classic tale of Red Versus Blue.
Rules are rules, in this land that is strictly sliced in two.
Delirious is the main warrior and the son of the Blue Chief. He is loyal (mostly) to his father, but always strays away from his work. Does he get away with it? No. He wears a mask and a blue jacket always to hide his heavily scarred body.
Evan is the blacksmith, but also his father is the Red Leader. He doesn't really enjoy the attention, so he stays in his Forge by the Barrier, away from most of the town but close to his friends.
When a fateful yet dangerous opportunity opens for Delirious, he realizes that Reds aren't as low-minded as he thought.
Evan, however, notices just that about Blues when he clocks Delirious in the head with his forge hammer.
"Rules are rules," I've never heard a truer statement in my life.
1. No crossing the Barrier.
2. No attacking one of your Colour. (Ha, that's been broken. Why do you think we have officer stations?)
3. Respect your Leader.
4. No falling in love, growing a friendship, with the opposite Colour.
5. You must contribute to the Red Versus Blue war.
Those rules are as simple as that, and boy, have I seen them broken. Criminals have crossed to Red or Blue to hide from the law of their side, or to gather information for blackmail.
Attacks have been occuring recently, now that the land is entering it's third year of war. Outbreaks of sicknesses, assassinations, both Chiefs accusing the other clan, but yet do they know it's people right under their noses.
With another year of battle rolling in, civilians have been rather hostile to their Leaders more and more often. Claiming their cattle was killed and their child is sick, and blaming it's because of the silly war that's been raging on.
Number four hasn't happened quite yet, but everyone knows it will be bound to happen. You know that saying, "Opposites attract?" Yeah.
Mothers have refused to fight, knowing it's awful for their children. Farmers and shop workers shout they have jobs to do when the Chiefs command an attack. Well, not the one hundred percent population is contributing, but so what?
Let's move on to the Sons.
Delirious, he's Blue Leader's boy. The Chief drags on and on how Delirious must take the "crown" when he steps down, but his son kindly and forcefully refuses. His father has already made him the head warrior, what else does Chief want from him?!
He wears a mask, you see. That's how he's called out of the crowd. Delirious has these types of rebellious acts where he steps away from his work and training to walk along the Barrier.
He always gets punished, but he still does it.
Punishment is the reason of that frightening hockey mask of his.
Evan, oh, Evan. The Red's son. Also known as just the Blacksmith, but rarely. The Red Leader has always supported Evan in his decisions, but then again, there always has to be a heir to leadership when the Chief passes his golden age.
He has a forge out by the farms, a small, worn dirt road leading. A few steps away is his own cabin.
His house sits beside the Forest Of Flight, which owns the territory of the land's tallest tree. Birds fly around the trunk in magnificent patterns. Evan mostly hangs around because, 1, there's owls (and he loves owls), and 2, theres a place called Merged Valley. Not much of a valley, in all, but a beautiful clearing with a lake in the middle.
The thing about Merged Valley is that it cuts right between both territories...
And that is where our story begins.
Sort of.
