Hades' Plan
~3rd Person POV~
The muses sat around a vase that had a painting of the underworld on it. "If there's one god you don't want to get steamed up, it's Hades."
"'cause he had an evil plan" Another muse added.
"He ran the Underworld. But thought the dead were dull and uncouth."
In the dark and murky place, Hades stood on a boat through the underworld as a skeleton rowed through the water and souls. Two souls tried to climb up and grab Hades, but he zapped the two back into the water and blew on his finger as if it were a gun.
"He was as mean as ruthless- And that's the gospel truth."
A very large door opened and hovering in the doorway was a Cerberus, snarling and trying to bite Hades. The god sighed and tossed a steak to the dogs, causing them to fight over the food.
"He had a plan to shake things up-- and that's the gospel truth!"
Hades stepped off the boat and towards a staircase, shouting into the room. "Pain!" A round pink creature ran down the stairs. "Coming, your most lugubriousness!" He tripped and rolled down the stairs until he landed on a trident, causing him to scream in pain.
"Panic!" Hades shouted.
A skinny blue creature ran up to him. "Oh, I'm sorry. I can handle it!" He panted as he ran. Pain jumped off the trident and ran into Panic, sending the two down the stairs and Panic's horns into Pain's butt. Pain screamed as Hades rolled his eyes with a bored look.
Pain stood up and saluted. "Pain! Oww..."
Panic saluted too, his horns still stuck in Pain's butt. "And Panic! Uhh..."
"Reporting for duty!"
Hades waved them off and climbed up the stairs. "Fine, fine, fine. Just let me know the instant The Fates arrive." Pain pulled Panic off of him.
"Oh! They're here!" Panic smiled.
Hades looked at the two and burst into flames. "WHAT?! The Fates are here, and YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?!"
The two creatures cried and fell to their knees, bowing. "We are worms! Worthless worms!" The two transformed into worms as they cried.
Hades sighed and turned away. "Memo to me, memo to me: Maim you after my meeting."
Pain and Panic shared a scared look.
-----------
In a chamber stood The Fates, hurdled together with a thread and scissors. "Darling, hold that mortal's thread of life good and tight." One of The Fates cut a mortal's line and a scream was heard in the distance. "Incoming!"
A woman's soul floated down into the underworld as The Fates laughed. The counter went up to 'Over 5000000001 served'.
Hades appeared in the doorway and chuckled. "Ladies! Hah! I am so sorry that I'm—"
"Late!" The three cut him off. "We knew you would be." "We know everything." One of the fates knocked another in the shoulder, bouncing their eye to the other.
"Past."
"Present."
"And future."
One of The Fates leaned towards Panic. "Indoor plumbing; it's gonna be big." She jabbed him in the side.
"Great. Great. Anyway, see, Ladies, I was at this party, and I lost track of—"
"We know!" The Fates cut him off with a shout.
"Yeah. I know... you know." Hades sighed, growing irritated. He walked over to a large table with little figures of different gods. "So, here's the deal. Zeus, Mr. High and Mighty, Mr. 'Hey, you, get off of my cloud'. Now, he has—"
"Two bouncing baby brats."
"We know!" The Fates cut in.
Hades burst into flames in anger. "I know!!" He cooled down and ran a hand over his flaming head. "You know. I know. I got it. I got the concept. So, let me just ask: Are these kids gonna mess up my hostile takeover bid, or what? What do you think?"
"Um..." One of The Fates started before the second one covered her mouth.
"Oh no, you don't. We are not supposed to reveal the future." A spider slowly fell out of her nose before she sucked it back in.
Hades approached one of The Fates and plucked a piece of her hair. "Oh wait, I'm sorry. Time out. Can I? Can I ask you a question, by the way? Are you.." A strand of hair crawled on his arm before he stuck it back in her head. "Did you cut your hair or something? You look fabulous." The Fate giggled at his flirting. "I mean, you look like a Fate worse than death."
Another Fate punched her in the head, sending the eyeball into Panic's hands. "Oh gross!" Pain squealed at the grossness. "Yech! It's blinkin'!" He kicked it away into Hades' hands as he swiftly pulled a piece of dust off the eyeball.
"Ladies, please, my Fate..." He placed it into a Fate's hand. "Is in your lovely hands."
The Fate swooned as the other two sighed. "Oh, alright!"
The eye lifted into the air and shined brightly, showing the future to Hades and The Fates.
"In 18 years precisely, the planets will align ever so nicely."
Hades sighed and grumbled to himself. "Ay, verse. Oy."
"The time to act will be at hand. Unleash the Titans, your monstrous band."
Hades scratched his chin in thought. "Mm-hmm, good, good."
"Then, the once-proud Zeus will finally fall, and you, Hades, will rule all!"
Hades burst into flames and cheered at his future. "Yes! Hades rules!"
One of The Fates held up her finger to stop him. "A word of caution to this tale."
Hades paused and looked at the three. "Excuse me?"
"Should (Y/n) and Hercules fight, you will fail."
With that warning, The Fates were sucked into the eye and disappeared.
Hades paused before bursting into flames angrily. "WHAAAT?" He sighed and slowly calmed himself down. "Okay, fine, fine, I'm cool, I'm fine."
A bell dinged as a door opened, Hades stood there with a glare on his face before addressing his minions. "Pain. Panic, I got a riddle for you. How do you kill a god?" He questioned as the two creatures whimpered in fear.
"I do not!... know." Pain started happily before he muttered.
"You can't! They're immortal?" Panic guessed with excitement.
"Bingo! They're immortal." Hades walked into the new room and grabbed two small vials floating in the middle of the dark lair. "So, first you got to turn the little sunspots... mortal."
--------
It was now nighttime on Mount Olympus, and everyone was asleep. Hercules and (Y/n) were sound asleep in their cradle with Pegasus sleeping between the two. A shadow loomed over the unexpecting little ones.
Hera and Zeus were asleep in their bed until a crash woke the two up.
"Huh?"
"What? What is it?"
They suddenly were alert as they looked at each other. "The babies!"
They ran towards their room but all they found was Pegasus and two empty cradles. "My babies!" Hera cried as she kneeled in front of the beds.
Zeus shook with anger.
"NOOO!"
Down towards Earth, Pain and Panic struggled to hold the two babies as the creatures flew to the mortal world. "Now we did it! Zeus is gonna use us for target practice!" Panic shouted in fear. The twins laughed and squealed happily at the exciting ride.
"Just hang onto the kids, Panic!" Pain snapped.
They all suddenly fell and the twins cried and screamed at the sudden jolt, causing the creatures to panic. "Hurry! Let's just kill the kids and get it over with, okay?" Panic told Pain as he held the babies in place. Pain held up two little vials of poison and put a rubber topper on them. "Here you go, kids. A little Grecian formula."
He stuck the vails into the babies' mouths and they both sucked the poison down. "Look at that! They're.. changing." The two slowly lost their glow on their skin and hair as they drank more. They seemed human. "Can we do it now?"
Pain stopped him. "No, no, no, they have to drink the whole potion! Every last drop."
When there were only a few drops left in the bottles, a sudden voice could be heard in the distance. "Who's there?" Pain and Panic gasped and ran away, dropping the bottles onto the ground, along with the last drop of the poison in each vial. "Alcmene, over here." A man's voice approached the sound of the twins' cries.
A middle-aged couple turned the corner and gasped at the two semi-normal babies on the ground, thunder rumbling in the background.
"Oh, you poor things! Oh, don't cry," The woman picked up (Y/n) and the man held up Hercules. "Is anybody there?" The man called out.
Pain and Panic peaked out from the bushes they were hiding in as they watched the couple help the babies. "Now?" Panic asked the pink creature. "Now."
Their shadows loomed through the dark, both turning into large snakes as the couple remained unaware of the incoming danger. "Oh well, they must have been abandoned." The man said to his wife, staring down at the little boy in his hold. The wife turned towards her husband as she rocked the little girl. "Amphitryion, for so many years we've prayed to the gods to bless us with a child."
Amphitryion flipped over Hercules' medallion while the woman continued to speak. "Perhaps, they've answered our prayers!" The man hummed and stared at the name engraved into the medal. "Perhaps they have... Hercules?"
The boy cooed as the woman did the same with the girl's medallion. "Hm...(Y/n)." Right as their name was spoken, lightning flashed, revealing the shadow of Pain and Panic as snakes. The couple gasped in fear at the creatures as the colorful beings leapt towards the group but each baby grabbed the snakes by the throat and smacked them repeatedly on the ground. The children giggled and laughed at Pain and Panic's wounded noises.
Amphitryion and Alcmene had their jaws dropped in disbelief at the children's strength and fearlessness. (Y/n) and Hercules swung the snakes around and sent them flying off the cliff, their screams going farther away.
The couple stared at the children in surprise as the babies waved the creatures goodbye with a giggle and looked back at the adults sweetly.
---------
Pain and Panic continued to scream until they landed face-first against a wall, sliding to the ground as they groaned. "Help, help, help!" The two shouted, transforming back to their normal selves. Panic bit his nails as he started to hyperventilate. "Hades is gonna kill us when he finds out what happened."
Pain slowly smiled as he looked at his companion. "You mean, if he finds out!"
Panic paused as he relaxed at the thought. "Of course he's gonna f-- If.. If is good."
-----------
Back on Mount Olympus, multiple gods were sent to their carriages to look for the two missing babies.
It was tragic. Zeus led all the gods on a frantic search.
Zeus and Hera held each other as the thunder continued to rumble around them.
But by the time they found the babies, it was too late.
"Young Herc and (Y/n) were mortal now." The muses harmonized sadly.
"But since they did not drink the last drop. They still retained their godlike strength- So thank their lucky star!"
"Tell it, girl." One of the muses added.
"But Zeus and Hera wept." The couple could be seen holding each other while Pegasus floated beside them, looking sad too. "Because their children could never come home." They stood in front of the empty cradles, looking down with devastation.
"They'd have to watch their precious babies grow up from afar."
"Though Hades' horrid plan, was hatched before the babes cut their first tooth."
"They grew stronger ev'ry day, and that's the gospel truth!"
