A New Future?

Everyone was waiting for the ship coming to pick up the humans. Once more, Callie was very upset. But everyone was at least happy they spent quality time together before they had to go. After a few minutes, a massive freight ship appeared in the sky.

"Axel? Isn't at the ship you left on?" Asked Shelly, shell-shocked at the size of the thing.

"Na. Mine was 50 times that big." Said Axel. "That's a carrier. Why do they need that to bring the humans home? They sent you guys here in just a lesser cruiser, right?"

"Yep." Said Riley. "What more could they want?"

"I want to see the inside of it!" Said Callie. "Too bad there's no time for a tour."

The ship was landing.

"Well, we better get over there." Said Axel.

Everyone left to approach the ship.

5 minutes later.

Axel's earpiece began ringing. He answered. "What's up?"

"Hey dude." Said Rick. "That's obviously you coming over here, right?"

"... what?" Said Axel.

"What did he say?" Asked Edge.

"Rick is on that ship." Said Axel. "How come they sent you, instead of just some humans?"

"Eheheh. Oh yeah, Sue never got to tell you." Said Rick. "But I guess a surprise is always nice, right?"

"Dude please get to the point." Said Axel.

"Put me on speaker." Said Rick

Axel complied.

"Ok everyone! But late, but I have to tell you all something." Said Rick. "The reason that ship is so oversized. I'm sure at least the humans questioned it."

"Why is it? Asked Colt.

"Well. We aren't picking up the humans." Said Rick.

"Then why did this big thing bother coming at all?" Asked Axel.

"I'm getting to that dude. Chill. Sue, why don't you tell em?" Said Rick.

"Sue is there too?" Said Callie.

"Oh. Hey guys!" Said Sue. "I'm sure Rick told you we have news!"

"Sue please. Everyone here is dying of suspense." Said Axel.

"The ship is full of building materials and other supplies, mainly. See, the humans liked what they got from the report." Said Sue.

"How'd it get there so fast?" Wondered Jay.

"So they sent like a couple to live here!" Said Sue.

"A couple." Axel deadpanned.

"A couple thousand." Said Rick.

It was as if a bulb broke above everyone.

"Excuse me what?" Said Marie.

"Yeah. We we're gonna tell you, but that party was too loud." Said Rick.

"Dammit Rick. Get your butt out here right now." Said Axel.

"What's the rush?" Asked Rick.

"Callie has been bawling her eyes out for the days now and just as she thinks her new friends are leaving, you pop this?" Said Marie.

"Oh." Said Rick. "Crap. I forgot how emotional you can get."

"Well, she deserves an apology." Said Axel.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner Callie. I should have tried during the party." Said Rick. "That was the day they decided to go."

"So that means my friends are staying?" Asked Callie.

"She considers us her friends?" Gaven wondered. "I guess it's nice to be wanted..."

"Yes." Said Rick.

"How many Cyborgs are coming?" Asked Axel.

"Just us two, and Ayo." Said Sue

"Who?" Asked Axel.

"Oh, she's third in command." Said Rick. "The council decided that these guys needed a leadership figure. So she's in charge, but she's pretty lax. At least with us Cyborgs."

"So I see." Said Marie. "And tell, what exactly are they gonna think about us? They've never seen us, correct?"

"Consider smiling for once. No, they haven't seen any inkling or octoling pictures. But hey, just be nice." Said Sue. "If it means anything, these people were more open minded than the average person."

"That makes a world of difference." Said Axel.

"Well, get over here! Someone is gonna need a greeting party." Said Rick.

"You mean welcoming party?" Asked Edge.

"Yes. Whatevs man." Said Rick.

Over the next month, the humans assimilated into the place pretty well. They built a medium sized town with the materials on the ship, and set up a liftoff platform for to and from space travel. In addition, they brought lots of their culture. Fortunately, this did not include... Special Japanese artworks, shall we say. I worried at least one person would have a crap ton, but no. They did bring sports, however. Quite a few Inklings liked them, and practiced to try and play with the humans. They especially excelled at basketball, which is understandable. In return, many human teens joined turf war squads, and Shelldon began mass producing the special 'squidification suits' as he calls them now. Currency wasnt an issue. The humans were given inkling coins to replace the money the humans brought, if they brought any. It was 5 coins per dollar, rounded up. Axel actually suggested this. And made like half the new coins. Some humans set up shops. Shelly and Colt gained a large amount of new fans, and Off the Hook did too. The most interested thing however, was a couple humans occasionally preforming for the Inklings. They played mostly Jazz and Rock, an odd choice set. But by far, the best thing was that Axel also sometimes played. Usually as background music for the actual singers. His voice still hasn't improved. As for voices, well human schools brought in inkling teachers to teach the students Oceanic, but translators weren't too hard to come by. Just cost a bit, but half the humans came with their own. And the Inklings began teaching English and Spanish, the only remaining human languages. They of course had a human come in for each language. While the classes on the inkling side were small at first, it was considered very Fresh to speak to the humans without a translator. So naturally just about everyone tried to learn. Some books were put out by the humans, as well. With the cultures mingling so well, the octolings came out into the light. With the help of the humans, they also joined the cultural revolution. Of course, a few sour grapes weren't very happy, but they lived with it. Callie is always out and about, trying to make new friends. With the cultural merge, cross dating became a thing, albeit uncommon. Mostly inkling to octoling. And that was just the beginning of a promising future. Of course, it wasn't about to end there. The humans found out real quick that most Oceanics did not handle space travel very well. Mostly because they are almost pure liquid. Whoever thought putting them on a zero G ship was obviously smoking something. G-man and Gaven opened up. Barely. But that's to be expected. The humans' families also came down. When asked why only 4 families came forward, Gaven had to explain that he was technically G-mans adopted brother. Honestly, talking to another person (Shelly) was more painful than thinking of his dead family. Colt is pretty sure they didn't get along well. Shelldon got a ton of new weapon designs, and Crusty Sean got tenfold that many new food dishes. Most of them taste awful to Inklings, but the humans like them well enough. The future looked bright. Would it stay that way? Maybe. Maybe not? There is no real way to see the future, so no one could tell you. But hey! All that matters really is the here and now, and that part is going pretty dang good.

A/N that's it for this book! Next chapter dropping in about 10 minutes at most. Look for the new titles, as for when I get to writing them, well there are 2 now, but I still try to write often. After all, I care about this far more than I care about school. Thanks for reading. The 738 reads and 62 votes on the story at the moment I posted this reinforce my will to keep going. And with that, I am gonna drop another new thing. Despite not having written the sequel yet, (or even started it.) I already have the third book thought up as well. No I'm not putting it in this book. You will just have to live with it. Peace out everyone! And DisRandomDude and TheGamingNgweh77 as I've said your OCs will appear in the sequel. You're welcome. Maybe sometime I'll hand draw up covers for my books. I can't do digital art if people paid me. Which sucks.
