Home sweet home
Jessica fell asleep during their very long drive and Mike carried her into their house and gently placed her on the bed like he did when they arrived at her old house. After that he walked into the kitchen, where his brother was waiting for him.
"You know... our father isn't as pleased about your trip as you are," he said and looked into his glass filled with vodka.
"I don't care about what he thinks. Jessica is my wife and not his. I can decide when I want to take her out and where we are going to," Leo said pissed that his father still tries to make him do it the way he did it with his wife.
"I think he sees this a little bit different. He told me that he needs to punish her for your little trip and you know you can't prevent him from doing this," Aaron said, feeling sorry for Jessica. He really liked her and knew she had nothing to do with this and that his brother did this. He wanted to stand up for her, but he had no chance to win.
"He won't touch her..." Leo said trough gritted teeth.
"You know I would help you, but that's your business. I just wanted to let you know what's about to come and I give you one tip. Prepare her for this. You have been too soft with her. She won't come away with this without any scars for a lifetime. The scar you left on her healed... the scars he will leave won't."
Aaron went away with this, leaving Leo thinking. His brother was right. If he would let his father lay a hand on her she would have scars that never fully heal. Not only on her body, but on her soul too. He felt sorry for her, but didn't know a way he could stop his father. There was simply no escape...
He would be killed if he would stop him or disrespect him in front of his wife. He couldn't safe Jessica and that made him feel like a complete asshole. He couldn't even keep his wife safe. How was he supposed to keep his wife and child safe? He didn't know. He couldn't let his father hurt her. She wouldn't get through this.
His father was just cruel and didn't care about feelings. He just did what he thought needed to be done. But Jessica wasn't something he had a right to touch. Leo would do everything to keep her and their baby safe.
He heard the door open and saw his angry father coming in.
"What the hell did you think when you took her out for your little trip?" He yelled and slammed the door shut behind him.
"She is my wife and I can do whatever I want so get down from your high and accept that she is not something you can judge," said Leo calm.
"Don't you dare to speak to me like this!" his father yelled and tried to slap him, but he grabbed his hand hard, right before his hand touched his face. "You won't lay a hand on her or you get problems."
"Am I supposed to be afraid of you? I can only laugh about you! You are a shame to the family... you can't even discipline your wife! What did we do wrong to deserve a son like this?" his father said disappointed and shook his head.
"Listen. Just go. I don't even wanna discipline her! She is my wife and not my property. She is a human being just like you and me and she has a right to be treated like one! I don't rip out your nails or Aarons so why should I rip out Jessica's? I love her and I want to live in peace with her! I don't want to stick to this dumb family traditions and I definitely won't kill my daughter if it should be a girl," Leo screamed.
His father was short before exploding now. He couldn't believe what his son said. Leo couldn't read the face of his father. All he could say was that his father wasn't pleased at all.
"Where is she?" his father asked cold and looked at the ground.
"I just told you, you won't lay a hand on her," Leo said and his father walked with quickly steps towards their bedroom with Leo on his heels.
He opened the door and walked over to the still sleeping Jessica and woke her up by pulling her out of bed. He let her hair go and she fell to the ground. She looked up at him, fear written all over her face.
Leo was right behind him, hitting his head with his fist. "I told you that you won't hurt her!"
His father fell to the ground and Jessica quickly run to Leo and began to cry as soon as she was in his embrace. He soothed her and brushed his hand through her hair, making sure to keep her close. He wouldn't let her get hurt. She meant too much to him. She was the only thing he really cared about. He loved her with all his heart.
His father stood up again and walked towards them. Leo pushed Jessica behind him and she clenched her hand to a fist, grabbing his shirt tightly.
His father approached them and wanted to slap Leo, but he stopped his hand again. Leo was angry now. His father couldn't behave like this... They needed to run away together. Start a new life somewhere safe. They needed to disappear.
His father grabbed Jessica in a weak moment and she screamed, bringing Leo back to reality. He saw his father raising his hand, ready to slap her, and he ran towards him and knocked him out. He grabbed Jessica and a few of their things and ran towards the door.
Aaron stopped them on their way and asked, "What happened in there?"
"I knocked our father out. We can't stay here. I won't let her get abused by him. I love you Aaron but we need to go," Leo said and Aaron just nodded. His brother was never like the others and he accepted this, unlike the rest of their family.
He ran with Jessica to his car and they drove off into a new life. Without abusing and rules. "I bought a house a few weeks ago, knowing the day would come, where we have to leave. When we arrive there I just have one rule for you. Forget your old life and never talk about it again, okay?" He asked after both of them caught their breath.
"Okay," she said and meant it. They would start a new life together. She would forget her life as an actress and slip into her new identity. She would never be able to get out of the house and into town, but that was okay with her as long as he wouldn't hit or abuse her. She was happy and couldn't believe that he ran away with her. This was a new beginning. For both of them.
