[Ash’ POV]

Dawn backed off just as the flash happened and I stared at the person standing a few feet away from us holding the small smartphone, pointed towards us. I was still taken back by the sudden kiss Dawn gave me and I was confused if it was all planned or what.

“Oh. My. God.” Miette, the one who had taken the picture spoke.

I turned my head to Dawn, I don’t know but I felt like this was a trap, that they might have laid for me. Dawn had a scared look on her face so I wasn’t sure if she had planned this or was it just a bad coincidence.

Both me and Dawn didn’t speak a word, I was still trying to process the situation and the first thing I needed to do was get the picture from Miette.

“Miette, please delete that photo from your phone right now.” I said, but Miette gave me a sly smile.

“Are you kidding me? I can’t possibly delete this pic, I just caught the legendary trainer making out with a girl! This needs to be shared all over Social Media.” she said, the thought of Serena seeing this image haunted me, she’d be hurt if she saw me kissing Dawn.

“No, please don’t post it anywhere.” I pleaded. I stepped forward but Miette put her hand forward and yelled.

“Stop right there! If you move a single step forward I’ll shout and tell everyone around that Ash is here. You don’t want unwanted attention do you.” she had a clever smile on her face and I hate this. She was right, I don’t want any attention in a situation like this. I stopped where I was.

“I’m sorry Ash…I-” Dawn started to say.

“Was this all planned?” I cut her off.

“Huh?” she asked in confusion.

“Was this whole thing planned by you both?” I asked again.

“No..-”

“It wasn’t, Leave poor Dawn out of it. None of it was planned. I just found you guys walking in the park and decided to follow in hopes of getting something spicy and look what I found!” She turned her phone to our side and showed the picture. “Isn’t this just wonderful?!” she had this beaming look like she had found a treasure.

The image showed Dawn leaning on me on her toes and her lips directly on mine.

The very last thing I wanted to show anyone, especially Serena.

“Please, delete the pic Miette” I pleaded again.

“Why? What will it gain me?” she asked in a mocking tone.

“What will you gain from posting it on social media?” I asked.

“Hmmm.. lemme think” she made a thinking expression. “Oh right, it will affect the reputation of the legendary trainer. And it will affect your relationship with Serena. Which will also affect your performance in the tournament. And hers too. And I can be more perfect than her on stage. It’s ultimately a win for me” she laughed. So this was all just a selfish prank. She just wants to remove Serena from her path.

Suddenly I felt a wave of energy. I knew this weird energy, it made me smile internally.

“Need a little help?” A voice spoke inside my mind.

“You got it Greninja. How long will it take?” I asked Greninja in my head.

“Not much, just a minute or two.” he replied.

“Alright I’ll stall her until then.” I said.

I turned to Dawn, “I need to ask a few things to you after I get this sorted out.” I pointed my finger at her, she just gave me a nervous nod.

“And now..” I turned back to Miette, “What do I need to do for you to delete that pic?” I asked.

“There’s nothing you can do to help me.” she shrugged.

“Come on, there’s always two way for every negotiation. There must be something.”

“There isn’t anything?”

“Are you sure?” I asked again. He’s almost here.

“Hmm.. maybe if you would spend a night with…. M-” she was almost done with saying when a water shuriken shot out from behind her from the bushes and hit her smartphone in her hand slicing it in half. The jerk from the attack made her grip lossed on the phone and it dropped in between all three of us in two perfect halves. It was a little wet too from the shuriken, but the main thing was we got rid of the problem. Maybe.

“WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?!” Miette shrieked, I’m almost sure this had caught the attention of some people. And I need to hurry from here. Maybe Dawn needs to hurry first. I can deal with things if I’m alone.

“Take Dawn with you” I said and quickly ran to pick up the sliced phone.

Greninja emerged from the bushes and in a split second reached Dawn and picked her in his arms and disappeared back into the bushes before she could yelp or before Miette could see him here.

“Where did Dawn go?!” Miette shouted in surprise, and I picked up the phone from the ground and made a run for the forest road. I need to get away before she tells people what happened. As long as I am not around, there won’t be much trouble.

I ran out of the park. Some of the people turned to look at me running but they wouldn’t have gotten any glimpse of my face hopefully.

Greninja came back and picked me up and took me with him without anyone knowing I was even there. We had finally escaped Miette.

He landed in the forest where he had dropped Dawn and let me down. I walked up to her, as she was still scared from all this sudden act. “Don’t worry, Greninja is mine. He helped us out from there. We are safe now.” I told her, but she stared around her.

“I know this is a forest but don’t worry, It’s my home. No one’s gonna attack you.” I said and she looked at me like I was some strange person.

“What?” I asked her in confusion.

“You live in a forest?” she asked in surprise.

“Yeah, I do.” I replied like it was nothing major. Greninja signalled me he needed to go and then sped off. Dawn stared at him leaving.

“Where’d he go now?”

“Somewhere. I don’t know. To rescue someone perhaps.” I looked in his direction.

“Your pokemon just roam all over the city like that?”

“Yeah, they are free the whole day, just for food and training they come to me.”

“Wow.”

“Let’s get to my home now, Serena must be waiting.” I said and started walking in the direction.

“She’s at your home?” she asked with a small smile.

“Yeah, why?” I asked.

“Nothing.” she gave me a small smirk. I swear these fangirls…

“I will tell her everything. And you will too.” I told.

“Wait what?” she asked in shock.

“Yeah, I don’t want to hide anything from her. So, I’d like to tell her everything myself. Plus she’ll surely question why did I bring you to my super secret home. So, we can’t technically hide anything.”

“I can just go home. I don’t need to come with you.”

“Yeah, you probably can, but Miette is still out there looking for us maybe. She might try to hunt us for slicing and stealing her phone. It’s better to stay away for a while.”

“Right..”

We had now reached my house and Dawn was in awe when she saw my little cottage.

“It’s so cute. A little cottage amongst the woods.” She commented.

“Thanks. Get in.” I said as I held the door for her.

Now time for explanation. As we entered we were met by Alexa, Hilber and Serena all waiting in the living room. Yep, no getting out of this now. Dawn stood in front of me as I came up behind her after closing the door.

I gave a little wave to everyone, as they just stared at us.

“Dawn?” Serena stood up from the couch and walked up to us.

“Hey….” Dawn squeaked out.

Alexa did a mini facepalm and Hilbert looked like he was just confused by the situation.

“What did you do now?” Alexa asked.

I pulled out the two half pieces of the phone from my pocket and held it up. “I sliced Miette’s phone cos she took a pic of me and Dawn together.”

“Wait what? Miette?” “You sliced a phone?” “Who’s Miette?” All three of them shot their question at me at the same time.

“Everyone silence, I’ll tell everything but first, I want Alexa and Hilbert to give us some privacy. We want to talk to Serena about it first. And Second you both are not getting too much info on this.” I said, Hilbert got up and left the house immediately. Before leaving though he leaned near my ears and whispered, “I wanna hear the most important part no matter what.” and then walked off.

Alexa stood up but instead of just leaving she came up to me and even though I was tall she was almost taller than me and she came right to my face. “If I find out you did something terrible and hurt Serena, I’m gonna disown you as my brother.” I gulped as she gave me a glare. I just gave a small nod. I was gonna be disowned for sure.

She left and now it was just Dawn, Serena and I in the house.

“Serena, please have a seat. Dawn, you too. I’ll get some snacks. While Dawn, you start with how we met today at the Pokemon store.” I said and walked towards the kitchen to get something. I could hear Dawn speaking and explaining what happened at the store.

By the time I reached back with snacks, she had reached the part where we were having the walk at the park and Dawn telling how she felt, for the second time that day. I honestly felt bad right now. Serena glanced between me and Dawn as she listened to the story and I saw her expression all serious. I was very nervous about it.

“..and then I don’t what made me do this but, without thinking I kissed Ash…” Dawn spoke in between sobs, she had started crying a few moments ago and Serena had sat beside her to comfort her. But when Dawn said this she was frozen. I knew this was gonna be really bad. Serena stared at me with a shocked expression. “I’m so sorry Serena I didn’t mean to kiss him, but I don’t know, my body just moved on its own and it just happened… I’m sorry..” Dawn cried. Serena gave her small pats on her back.

“It’s alright Dawn, It’s not your fault.” Serena whispered softly to her, “If anyone, It’s His.” she glared at me. “Don’t cry, you did nothing wrong. Mistakes happen, but the important thing is that you accepted your mistake and I’m happy you did. You’re my best friend and I can never be mad at you, and you proved it too. So, stop crying now.” she said and helped Dawn calm down.

While she had this sweet voice for Dawn, she was throwing daggers at me from her eyes. I just had a guilty look on my face.

After Dawn calmed down, I spoke up. “After this, we had a small problem and…” I placed the broken phone in front of us on the table. “Miette had seen us and followed us, and she clicked a pic at the exact moment we kissed..” I spoke softly.

“What?” Serena asked in surprise.

“Yeah, and she wanted to post it over social media and wreck my reputation.”

“That little…” Serena was fuming at this.

“But then, Greninja sent me a message through mind and told me that he was coming to help us. So we stalled around for a and Greninja sliced her phone in this with his water shuriken then I told him to take Dawn away, as I picked up the phone and then he came back to take me too.”

“We safely got rid of Miette and here we are.” I said, as Serena picked up the phone to inspect something. “Now she can’t post the Image cos her phone is destroyed and it’s also with us.”

“Not really, If she had her internet on then the Image is probably backed up to her account. And if that happened then she can get the image again from anywhere.” Serena said.

I looked at her with a shocked expression. “What do you mean a back-up?” I asked.

“You don’t know?” Dawn asked.

“I don’t have a smartphone.” I replied.

“There’s a memory card in here.” Serena said, and we both turned our attention to her. What the hell is a memory card now?

Dawn looked like had seen a ghost so I assumed this was something bad. I watched Serena take her phone and open the side slot and put the memory card thingy in there.

Wait! Don’t tell me it stores the Phone memory in there. OH Shit! OH Shit! OH Shit! OH Shit Shit Shit!!

Now, I know why Dawn looks like she saw a ghost, this is worse than a ghost.

She opened the gallery and scrolled through the images, her face was mostly of disgust from all of Miette’s pictures. Though her expression soon changed, she must have found the image. Oh god.. Even though we just told her everything, seeing it with her own eyes will be bad.

I was hiding my face behind my palms and so was Dawn.

“I gotta say, she took a really cute pic.” Serena spoke and I pulled my head up

What?

“What?” Dawn said. What?

“What?” I asked.

Serena looked at us, “What…?”

“Aren’t you sad or angry about this?” Dawn asked.

“I am, but more than that this image is cute. I mean look at it this way, you weren’t doing anything bad, you just told him your feelings and this was all just something that happened in the moment. You didn’t have any intention of doing it on purpose, so it’s more of a sweet thing than something I should be crying about. Yeah, I am a little sad because you kissed my boyfriend but it’s alright. You apologised and I forgave you so we’re good.” Serena explained, and I felt relieved. Dawn had a small tear in her eye which she wiped and then hugged Serena.

“You’re so sweet Serena. I love you so much” she squealed.

“Aww.. I love you too Dawn.” Serena said as she hugged her back.

I just sat there looking at them.

Suddenly, Someone barged in from the front door yelling at the top of their voice.

“ASH KETCHUM!! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!” Alexa entered with a furious look.

“What happened….!?” I asked in a scared tone.

“DO NOT ACT INNOCENT!! IT’S ALL OVER THE INTERNET!!!” Alexa roared with anger.

“What is all over the internet?!” I asked again.

“YOU KISSING THIS GIRL, DAWN!! IS THAT WHY YOU BROUGHT HER HERE?? ARE YOU GOING TO BREAK UP WITH SERENA?!? ANSWER ME!!” At this point, I wanted to wash off her anger with a hydro-cannon.

“NO, you’ve got it all wrong. Sit down and stay calm. I’ll explain everything to you. God, why’d you have to be so angry?” I said, as I stood up. I approached her carefully, she could hit me anytime.

“Because, you just kissed another girl when you’re in a relationship with Serena. And it’s all over social media.” She yelled.

“Okay, calm down. Here’s the thing, Dawn is Serena’s best friend, and we met in the city today after a long time. She wanted to apologise about how they had treated me back then and we were just having a walk, then Dawn started telling me about her feelings that she had for me but couldn’t speak because of her old friends. And then things escalated and unknowingly she gave me a kiss, it wasn’t intended, it just happened and it was sudden so I couldn’t react as well. But at the same time a girl from our school happened to have seen us and clicked this picture of us kissing and we barely managed to run away with her broken phone, but looks like she had the image backed up as they said. And now she posted it over social media. We came here to apologise to Serena and tell her everything that happened. And we had just sorted everything out. Except I didn’t know she posted the picture. Now I have more trouble behind my back.”

I spoke that in one breath and now I was huffing like crazy. I heard claps behind me. I turned around to see them both clapping softly to my little explanation.

“You guys should have helped me.” I said after taking my breath.

“Oh, I was just very terrified when she entered like that, I had never seen her in rage mode before so yeah..” Serena said.

“Ditto.” Dawn added.

“Everyone just stop for a minute. There is something definitely wrong with you guys.” Alexa said with her hands held up in front of her. “Ash, you are being too oblivious for the fact that you just got posted on social media for being caught kissing. Dawn, you are way too comfortable in a room where both, the person you just kissed and his girlfriend are present. And Serena, you look a bit very happy for someone, who just found out his boyfriend kissed another girl.” Alexa pointed and we three had the same reaction at the same time.

“Are we?” we all said at the same time. Alexa gave herself a facepalm. And we looked at eachother and just laughed awkwardly.

Suddenly, the door burst open again and Hilbert ran in. “ASH!!!!!” and this time everyone did a facepalm.

5 Minutes later, Hilbert has now been filled up with information.

“I see, but I’m a little confused with the situation in this room.” He spoke.

“I know! I am being oblivious of this situation.” I spoke.

“And I am too comfortable among them.” dawn said.

“And I look a bit happy after all this.” Serena said.

“Yea…… and Alexa, you look too calm for someone whose brother has been-”

“You are 14 minutes late!” I yelled at him.

“Oh, am I?”

Everyone stayed in their places for the next few moments.

“So, what am I gonna do now?” I asked.

“I know something we can do.” Serena started.

“Yeah, that’d be great.” Dawn replied.

“Mhmm, it needs to be done.” Alexa added.

“I’ll be the manager then.” Hilbert said.

I stood there for a moment, “Did you guys just exchange thoughts without me knowing??” I asked and they looked at me as if I missed something that was right in front of me.

“Seriously? You need a smartphone idiot!” Serena said.

“And a social account too.” Dawn added.

“Then we need to verify the account, which will be easy since you have Mr. Goodshow.” Alexa said.

“And since you don’t  know how to use it, I’ll be your manager and keep you updated on what’s happening and control your account.” Hilbert said.

“Oh….” I said, “So, it’s an ambush.”

“Alright, everyone get to work, we need to get this done before tomorrow. Because the whole world is waiting for answers!!” Alexa announced and everyone stood up.

Serena and Dawn ran out of the house, as if they knew where they needed to go. Hilbert said something to Alexa and then went out as well. Alexa pulled out her phone and was texting someone with very fast typing, which made me concerned about her phone screen.

“Can I help with something too?” I asked and she looked up from her phone.

“No, we’ll handle it on our own. You can go train if you want. But don’t go in public.” She replied then went back to typing.

“Okay…….?” I said in confusion and walked  to the door.

Looks like I messed up pretty bad for them to communicate through brains.
