[Serena’s POV]

I was at home helping mom with the household when we heard loud noise from the outside, like something flying at high speed. It was followed by a loud draconic roar. I recognised the sound as Ash’s Charizard. I looked out of the window and saw him flying towards somewhere really fast. I wonder what’s the hurry? Possibly another rescue mission. I’ll ask Ash when I meet him today.

I went back to helping mom with her work. After about two hours we were all done and free, so I decided to watch some TV. My mom also joined me, we flicked through channels to find something interesting when we reached the news channels and a headline caught my eye.

‘Charicific Valley under attack’

I stopped as I continued to listen to the reporter. My mom being uncertain of me at first since I don’t really watch news, was now fixated on the screen. The news showed how the whole valley of Charizard known as the Charicific valley was being attacked by a criminal group. There were Helicopters and Charizard everywhere. The attackers were capturing all the Charizard. They weren’t even caring if the charizard lost an arm or two as they threw heavy metal nets and tased them with electric darts. The scene was horrifying to look at, blood and fire everywhere.

“Earlier this morning several team Flare helicopters reached the Charicific valley in Kanto and started attacking and capturing the Charizard. Not only that Charizard from all over the world have been acting weird. According to Professors and researchers, Charizard have the ability to communicate from miles away but they can communicate with each other regardless of distance. The Charizard around the globe had been feeling unease from sensing the danger their home is in right now.” the news reporter said, I watched it with my hand over my mouth. It was so horrible. Suddenly I remembered Ash’s Charizard. He was in a hurry this morning, was he going to Kanto?!

I was worried now, I dialed Ash’s telephone but no one picked up. This meant they weren’t home. I asked mom if I could go meet him now and she let me. I was about to leave the house when she called again. When I reached the living room, she pointed at the TV. The news had changed to a different place and was now showing the Lumiose city. The reporter had a few trainers behind her as she questioned them.

“We have just received knowledge about the attack in the Charicific valley and how the Charizards there are being Captured by the team Flare. Moreover there had been sightings of the legendary charizard flying over the Kalos region in the direction of Kanto. The trainers behind me have caught footage of the charizard flying at very high speed towards kanto. Here are the videos found from around the city people caught on their phones.”

Then the screen changed and went on showing different videos of Ash’s Charizard flying over the buildings really fast. The scene then changed back to the reporter.

“We had a news helicopter waiting at the nearby Island which recorded the Charizard’s flight outside the land. The Charizard has been flying constantly for almost two hours now. Stay with us for more information from kanto and the Legendary Charizard.”

The screen kept playing the videos from the valley and Charizard’s flight. I stood there with my eyes wide and a horrified expression. This was so bad…

I turned back and made a quick way to the door and started running towards Ash’s house. Tears had started falling from my eyes, I was worried for Charizard. The death of Pidgeot kept playing in my mind over and over again. I was scared, what if Chairzard died as well… Ash will be devastated. I can’t bear to see him like that…

My legs were killing me now, I have never been athletic, and even though I perform my legs aren’t for running for so long. At this point I wished I had a flying type pokemon. As soon as I thought of that I was again reminded of Pidgeot and Charizard. Why was this happening…?

I entered the forest and kept running until I spotted Lycanroc, I asked him if he knew where Ash was and he gestured for me to sit on his back. I quickly followed as he ran towards the exit. Maybe Ash was out after Charizard. Lycanroc took me to the Pokemon center in Santalune city. I saw some crowd near the Pokemon center.

I got down from Lycanroc and thanked him before heading inside the pokemon center. It was a hard task as there were literally hundreds of trainers gathered there. What was even going on? I spotted Ash near the telephone booth. Hilbert was along with him, I made a little effort to reach them though I didn’t have to push anyone, when I was close enough Ash saw me and smiled. He came forward to pull me out from the crowd.

As soon as I was out I gave him a hug, he waited for a while before returning it. “What are you doing here?” he asked me, “I saw the news and saw Charizard flying, I got worried so I had to come to see you.” I said as a single tear rolled down my eye. Ash swiftly wiped it away with his thumb and gave me a wide smile.

“Don’t worry, I’m alright. I’ve got all my friends to help me.”

I was confused as I looked around at all the trainers. Friends?

“What do you mean?”

“I told them everything, and they encouraged me to not lose hope. So, that’s exactly what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna save Charizard and the Valley!” he said with a determined expression.

I smiled upon his confidence and reached up and gave a soft kiss on his lips in a blink. I heard squeals and ‘aww’s from behind us but I didn’t look back, I was looking back at the half shocked expression of Ash in front of me.

“Then you’ll probably need some good luck from me!” I said with a sweet smile. He smiled back at me.

“Thank you.”

[Third person’s POV]

Miles away from the coast of the Kalos region where you could see nothing else but water, a large scaly creature was flying at his best towards a certain direction. With the strength of a tank and speed of a jet, Charizard made his way to Kanto with anger burning in his eyes. At that moment, the only thing in his mind was to exterminate team Flare.

Charizard flew a little higher to stay away from any high waves hitting him and roared as he flapped his large wings together as they created a whirl of wind behind his tail. The direction of wind over the sea and the wind he created clashed as it formed a strong current flowing in the direction of Charizard’s flight. The push from the tailwind helped Charizard to just glide effortlessly over the water, without using much of his strength.

He closed his eyes as he heard the cries of his fellow mates in the Charicific valley. He felt their pain as they were being attacked and captured mercilessly. He clenched his claws and opened his eyes once again. He would occasionally give some boost to his flight with more tailwind.

After flying for almost one and half hours Charizard was feeling tired. His wings were hurting but he kept going. He knew there was no giving up now. As he flew along the current. He noticed something under the water. He lost some altitude as he was just above water. The high density of air below him prevented him from going lower. As he observed closer what looked like a large winged creature swam under the surface of water. As the silhouette of the creature got clearer under the water, Charizard recognised it as Lugia, the ruler of seas. Charizard smiled upon seeing it.

Lugia emerged out of the water and gave a loud cry. It looked at Charizard and chirped softly, to which Charizard replied back with a soft grunt, as if communicating with each other. Lugia then flew up as Charizard followed. When they were at a certain height, Lugia performed the same action as it created another tailwind, though having larger wings and immense power, the tailwind was much more stronger than that of Charizard. The blast of air pushed both the pokemon as they flew effortlessly over the sea. Lugia then went ahead and flew below Chairzard and cried out as the scales on its back opened up. It chirped softly asking Charizard to hold on to them. Charizard did as told then with another loud cry Lugia started flapping its large wings as it flew at insane speed, the speed being multiplied with the push of the tailwind. Charizard held on tightly as Lugia helped him cover up his journey even faster.

Charizard had met this Lugia a long time ago, when he was on a rescue mission. Apparently a group of magikarp had evolved when they were caught in the fishing nets and were attacking the fishing boat. Charizard was sent for their rescue but Charizard was only able to save those who were on the boat. He couldn’t dive in the water as it would extinguish his flames. Luckily this Lugia was near when it saw the drowning fishermen and came to the rescue.

Lugia had always been lonely, and scared of humans. But when it saw Charizard along with them it got a little courage. The fishermen were grateful to Lugia and gave it food. That was the first time Lugia had trusted humans. Since that day, those fishermen would come occasionally to meet Lugia and give berries and food. Charizard too met him sometimes. Lugia was the one who taught him how to dive underwater without blowing his flames out.

Charizad smiled as he recalled that day. Lugia had always helped him without asking anything but friendship in return. As they neared the end of Lugia’s territory, Charizard gave a soft grunt telling Lugia that he would take it from here and that he was grateful for the help. Lugia chirped in joy as Charizard let go of its scales and flew ahead. Lugia gave a happy cry as it created one last boost of tailwind before diving back into the water.

Charizard flew along the current as he had completed almost three-fourth of his journey. As he flew he felt a loud noise approaching him from behind. Charizard craned his neck below him to see two black spots far behind him. Charizard sensed the unidentified spots as an aircraft. Unsure of the situation he sped up his pace but the aircrafts were nearing him really fast. When the aircrafts were almost near him he saw they were military jets. Charizard was about to attack them out of fear and uncertainty but stopped when he noticed they weren’t going to attack. He kept his guard up as he watched a grey colored pokeball drop from one of the jets.

The pokeball opened and revealed a Charizard wearing military armour on his body. The military Charizard joined him in the current as the two jets flew along their sides. Charizard gave a grunt asking the soldier pokemon about their reason for being here. The trooper replied with a small roar that they were her for his help. The Kalos Military service was requested by the president of Pokemon League to send backup for a lone charizard heading towards the Kanto region. Another reason was that he can’t enter another region without granted permission from the regional defense administration. Charizard nodded in acceptance as he understood they were allies.

The trooper went on telling that he was the leader of the Charizard horde in the Kalos Air Force Service and he had 10 of his troopers along with him. Charizard knew it was Ash who had asked Goodshow for the help. The trooper asked Charizard if he would be okay to hold onto the jets and go faster. Charizard replied with an approving roar. The trooper showed Charizard how to lock up with the jets as he went and landed on a jet with his feet locked on to a special pad and grabbed the two handles in front with his claws. Charizard did the same on the other jet as the aircrafts sped up. The trooper roared over the sound of the jets to instruct Charizard to keep his wings close to his body to avoid being ripped.

The speed of the jet was much faster than Lugia’s tailwind boost and Charizard had to hold even stronger to prevent himself from being blown away. They were in the vicinity of Kanto sea in no less than fifteen minutes and soon Charizard saw the coast. He was packed with energy and was ready to annihilate team Flare. When the jets entered the land they slowed down according to the military rules. When they reached the valley area, Charizard let go of the jets as he flew ahead and charged up a purple colored attack in his lungs.

He fired the attack which exploded soon after firing as Charizard dove through the flames, but when he came out from the other side he revealed himself as the Mega Y form of his evolution. He roared loudly the strength boost from the mega evolution gave him speed and power as he flew over the mountains he recognised as his homeland.
