Royal Guard

The girls wake up the next morning spread out across Travis' living room. Karma on the couch, Kendal and Lauren curled up together on an armchair, and the others on spare blankets all over the floor. Travis was even civil enough to give Flowey a flower pot so he doesn't have to stay curled around Kendal's arm 24/7. Emma groans as the light pierces her eyes. "Five more minutes, Mom." She mumbles, turning on her side. "Hate to break it to ya, sugar, but I ain't your mama." Kendal says, poking her cousin with the tip of her foot to wake her up. It does the trick as the strawberry blonde shoots up, now fully awake. "Wait, that means... Ugh!!" She plops back down on her pillow, frustration etched on her features. "I was hoping that everything that happened was a dream!" She whines.

"Hey, be quiet. I think everyone else is still asleep." Jen hushes the loudmouth. "Well, it is only six in the morning." Neko says after a glance at her watch. "Too early for this crap. I'm going back to sleep." Emma says. She snuggles back into her makeshift bed, but her covers are ripped off, forcing her to stay awake or go to sleep cold. "C'mon, I wanna explore. Who knows how long we'll be here. The others already agreed." Kendal pokes Emma with her foot again until she sits up. "Fine. Whatever. Let's go." She grumbles. The girls set out, moving quietly through the house and silently closing the door behind them after making sure to leave a note behind to tell Travis where they went.

"Wow! This place is awesome!" Neko exclaims. "Hey, what's that place over there?" Jen points to a large red-brick building with the word MC's sitting on the roof. Their curiosity getting the better of them, the friends walk towards and enter the building, oblivious to the stares and the occasional dirty look the monsters were giving them. The inside of the building was revealed to be a empty restaurant. A purple-haired cat-girl who was standing behind the bar looked up when the bell above the door rang. "Welcome to MC's! How can Michi~Chan help you?" She asks as the girls sit down in an empty table taking up the majority of the space. "Do you have any menus?" Neo asks. The cat-girl, Michi~Chan, nods and leaves her post to hand the girls a pile of menus. "Just give a shout when you're ready to order." With that, Michi~Chan heads into the backroom, assumably the kitchen.

After a few minutes, Neo gets Michi~Chan's attention and the girls order. Water to drink (since it's free) and a big basket of fries. Yeah, not the most healthy breakfast, but whatever. "How much do we owe you?" Lauren pulls out the coins that Travis had given them to spend, but Michi~Chan waves her away. "Michi~Chan never gets new costumers, so it's on the house. So where are you all from? What kind of monsters are you?" The meif'wa asks, curious about the girls. "Well, first off, we're not monsters. We're humans. That probably answers the 'where we're from' question." Kendal answers through a mouthful of fries. "Humans?! Really?! No, you need to leave! A human is what drove us further down and no humans should live among us!" Michi~Chan runs off, disappearing into the back room again.

The girls exchange confused looks, but shrug it off and leave, taking their fries with them. They try to explore more of the under-underground town, but the monsters glare at them so heatedly that they decide to go back to Travis' house. They pile up on the couch and close surrounding area in silence. Well, everyone except Kendal. She was trying to find the TV remote and see what the underground watches in their spare time, but no success. "Ugh, I'm bored!" The blue-eyed girl whines as she plops down on the ground next to her girlfriend. A door creaks open on the side of the living room and a white-haired head peaks out. "Oh, you guys are back. Find everything you wanted?" Travis asks as he steps into the living room, wiping greasy hands on his dirty lab coat. "If you mean that we found out that every monster down here hates us, then yeah. I think so." Emma sasses. "Well, considering everything that's gone wrong for monsters has been because of humans, can you really blame them?"

"No, but we're not like that! We just wanna go home!" Karma exclaims. "The monsters out there don't know that. They've become bitter, resentful towards the human race, even more so--" Travis is cut off by a mechanical voice. "Travis, come on! You said this would be done a hour ago!" Travis turns on his heels before shouting into the room he came from. "Hold your horses! I'm trying to be motivational! It's for the greater good!" He shouts back. "Greater good? Uh-uh, nope! I'm Zane Ro'Meave! I'm the greatest good you're ever gonna get!" You could almost see the sassiness dripping from the robot's shouted words. "I'll back in a minute. You guys can come watch if you want. I heard you say you were bored, Kendal." Travis heads back the way he came with seven bored females on his tail. The emo robot from the day before was sitting on a table, various tools and puddles of motor oil scattered around.

"Great. You brought spectators." Zane says with an eye roll when he notices the girls. "Oh, play nice, Zane. They're bored." Travis says as he picks up a wrench and opens a panel on Zane's back. After a couple minutes of working, Travis sets down the wrench and wipes his hands off again. "Okay, Zane. I fixed your radiator. As long as you don't overheat yourself, it shouldn't burst a leak anymore." The white-haired scientist waves off the robot, who sulks off without another word. "So what's the deal with him and Vlyad? Are they robots you use to do your dirty work like scientists in those old horror movies?" Karma jokes, earning a chuckle from the monster.

"Not exactly. They were ghosts that are related to an old friend of mine. His name was Garroth and he was absolutely in love with the stage. He sang, he acted, he danced. You name it, he did it. When Gene took over the underground, he took Garroth, who I had built a mechanical form for him to use on stage, and I haven't seen hide nor hair of him since. Vlyad and Zane are his little brothers. Vlyad was a ghost who had depression, but I got him to go to therapy and he's a lot better now. Zane was a ghost who had possessed a training dummy, but hadn't quite became corporeal yet. I made metal bodies for the both of them and they became my friends and roommates. That's all." The horned male lets out a happy sigh as he takes a small trip down memory lane.

The group leaves the room, which the girls realize is a laboratory. "Come on, let's go out. I'll properly introduce you to the town and maybe then they won't hate you guys. It'll beat staying here with two robots who barely ever talk anymore." Travis suggests as he slips a coat on. The girls agree and set out on the town after grabbing Flowey, who decided to curl up on Kendal's arm again. The other monsters still seemed weary of them, but at least they didn't outright glare at the girls this time.

All was going swimmingly until a scratchy voice shouts, "GIVE US THE HUMANS!!"
