Chapter 19 - Golden hour? More like Panic Hour!

3rd POV

Y/n woke up. As she always did. She stretched, sitting up in bed as her sheets pooled at her waist. Her arms fell to her lap as she stared at her hands.

She flexed and relaxed her hands as her eyes traced the lines across her palms. She thought back to the painting she saw. She thought back to the vision she witnessed. 'Why did that happen? Why did I feel like I was meant to be there? Could that have been me?' These questions flooded her mind as she squinted.

She shook her head and clenched her fist. "Why am I thinking about this so early in the god damn morning?" Y/n complained as she facepalmed, leaving her hand in contact with her face. Slowly, she dragged her hand down her face, stretching her skin in a horrific way before it bounced back to its original place. She kicked her sheets off, tossed her feet off the edge of the bed before finally getting up to brush their teeth.

The girl hadn't even bothered to look at her reflection in the mirror that morning, finding her feet more interesting. Once done, she strutted her way to the living room. Pulling out her laptop, the girl began to slave away, thinking of an idea for a song.

After hours of pondering, Y/n groaned, so close to just banging her head against the wall. But before she could get up and do that, a thought rushed through her head. Or rather, various thoughts.

She thought of the times she spent with the Daemos. The times she spent teaching them, encouraging them, threatening them. She thought of the dreams and visions she's had of Daemos that looked so familiar to her. She chuckled lightly. Each thought hit her heart in a way she couldn't explain. It made her feel...

GOLDEN...

Bang! That's when it hit her. Her eyes widened and a great smile broke across her lips, her eyes sparkling (e/c) with stars of gold in them. She knew what her song would be about.

Grabbing her laptop, she swiftly pulled the device into her lap as she titled the piece 'Golden Hour'. Whatever came to mind, she typed. Soon she was left with beautiful lyrics. Walking over to her keyboard, she folded her laptop, placing it on the connected sheet-music stand.

'Now, a melody.' Y/n mentally said, taking her seat, 'Which is the easiest part of making a song.' She sarcastically thought, fingers messing about with the keyboard settings and keys to initiate the right mood for her song.

After hours of experimenting, she came up empty-handed. "Ugh! This is hopeless!" She moaned, "What good is lyrics without the backing and melody to go with it?" Suddenly, a ringing sounded in front of her. She looked up and saw a zoom call. It was from her close friend, Jake, otherwise known as JVKE.

Quickly, she made sure that she didn't look like a mess before accepting the call. "Hey Jake!" She began.

"Hey Y/n!" He replied, smiling at the sight of his friend, "How are you? It's been a while since we've talked."

"Yeah, it has been! But, if I'm being honest, it hasn't been the most-" she started, but held her tongue. 'Should I tell him? What would he think if I just said that 5 guys live with my sisterly-friend Ava and they seem to be magical? He would call me crazy!' Y/n looked from side to side before deciding what to say.

She took a deep breath before saying, "It's been an entertaining time for me. But I am having trouble with this one thing." She raised her hand, holding up 1 finger.

"Oh yeah? What is it?"

"I'm trying to come up with a new song. I have the lyrics but I can't - no matter how hard I try - come up with a melody for it!"

"I see. Share it with me; I might be able to think of something." Jake volunteered. Y/n nodded, sharing the lyrics between herself and Jake. He scanned the lyrics before nodding in approval. "This is some great lyrics, (N/n)." Y/n muttered a 'thank you', hiding her face from her friend as she blushed from embarrassment.

"Okay, so here's my idea..."

~~~ Timeskip brought to you by JVKE's Golden Hour ~~~
"Alright. I think that works." Y/n concluded, saving the final draft of the song. "I might add some extra things afterwards, like a dinging sound or something."
"Awesome, can't wait to hear it, N/n." Jake stated a-matter-factly. The two friends said their goodbyes before ending the call.
She took her place on the couch, letting out an exhausted sigh. With a flick of her wrist, the cups and utensils in the kitchen began moving making a cup of tea (or coffee, whatever you normally drink after working hard). The girl looked outside the window of her apartment, taking in the the sunny day that commenced.
SMASH!
The girl's head jolted to the source of the sound. She peered over the couch to the floor and saw the cup of tea on the floor. The cup was shattered into millions of pieces, impossible to put back together like a jigsaw puzzle, and the tea was spreading across the floor, mimicking a puddle. Boy was Y/n glad she didn't put carpets as a floor.
The girl stood up before carefully walking towards the shattered glass, manoeuvring through the living room. She inspected the scene closely, crouching down so she was balancing on the toes of her feet. "The cup obviously fell because there was no magic supporting its transfer," Y/n deduced, "But I was using my magic... my magic has never just blipped or disappeared... it's almost as if it glitched. But why-"
The girl stopped, realising she was talking to herself. "Aww geez, I have been hanging out with Ava way too much trying to take care of the boys," Y/n said, shaking her head as she stood back up before she lost her balance.
A sharp pain jabbed at the front of her forehead, which caused Y/n to jump back and take a few steps backwards, her back making contact with the couch. As she made contact with the couch, she somehow managed to fall over the back of the couch, ending up upside down, the upper half of her body being on the front of the couch, while her lower half stayed on the back.
She sent a hand to her forehead, rubbing her previously attacked spot. As the pain faded, the girl realised the situation she was in and crossed her arms, embarrassed of what happened but glad that no one was there to see it.
Using her flexibility, the girl pulled her legs up and (in the current situation) in front of the couch so, if she were standing up straight, she would be facing the couch. With little to no effort, she pulled the rest of body up so she stood straight.
She stopped and thought for a minute. 'Okay, breathe.' She breathed. 'There has to be an explanation for this. My magic had blipped which caused by cup, filled with tea, to shatter and my magic is mainly controlled by my charm bracelet. Minutes after, I get a painful sensation in my forehead. The only time I remember getting similar sensations was when I was young and earning my charms. So what could be the caus-'
The girl froze.
She stopped breathing.
She stopped blinking.
Her heart slowed too.
Bah-Bump...
Bah-Bump...
Bah-Bump...
Bah-Bump...
Bah-Bump.
Until it finally set in.
Shit.
Y/n ran as fast as she could to the bathroom. She had to make sure she was out of sight. Her bracelet had charms, yes, but Y/n had cast a spell to make it seem like there were no charms on it at all. She needed to be out of sight when casting magic; she was not going to be exposed just because she started to panic.
She opened the bathroom door before sliding in an slamming it shut. She muttered, "Revela Carmina." The charms began to show themselves, each one representing a power of Y/n's.
Her heart was beating a mile a second.
Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump. Bah-Bump.
Soon all the charms revealed themselves. She almost let out a sigh of relief, until she saw one charm that was...different...
The charm was a small hand that represented her telekinetic powers. The charm started turning black before her very eyes. Soon the charm was ebony black and deteriorated to dust - like it had been Thanos snapped out of existence. Y/n felt her heart crack. She dropped her hand which had been raised to her eye line this entire time.
Her hand reached her hair as she ran her fingers through the sea of (h/c). Her other hand gripped the edge of the sink, her knuckles turning a ghostly white.
As her finger reached her scale, she felt something that wasn't there before. Her fingers traced around the two anomalies before tracing up them. As her fingers reached the top of the anomalies, she froze once again before swinging her head in the direction of the mirror with such force, one might think she could have broken her neck.
There, staring back at her, was her. Y/n. The Y/n she had always known. But with horns. Daemos horns. The Y/n staring back at her had (f/c) horns that matched the ones of the Princess Y/n in the portrait. The Y/n staring back at her had wide eyes with tears pooling at the corners of them as she held back tears.
She took a sharp breath in.
Before she let it all out...
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
~~~~~~The End of Chapter 19~~~~~~

(A.n: I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I think it's a bit more professional and rushed than my other chapters but I wanted to get something out to you guys to just thank you all for the support. Before going further into the book though, I might return back to the previous chapters and edit them: correcting grammatical errors or changing things that may be seen as offensive.

I have changed and apologise for my mistake in chapter 6; I shouldn't have brought up and joked about such a topic and I am so sorry. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me but until then, I am okay with earning back your trust little by little.

Thank you so much for the support. I hope I can update more often but it depends on if my school wants to torture me more or not.
