Melody of the lost

Melody was born when Sofia died. After Sofia's death, Vivian grew cold and distant from her daughter. When Melody would try to reach out and interact with Vivian, she would push her away, telling her to do something else. But when she was taken away from Vivian, she told her it was for Melody's safety while her mother got help for her battle against herself.
Melody stayed with her aunt Amber til she was nearing her 15th birthday. She hardly remembers Vivian or Sofia now.
That day Amber got a call from an unknown number. She answered, "Hello, Amber." The voice on the other end was weak but familiar. "Vivian? Is that you?" Amber asked, "Yes, Amber, it's me. I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for leaving Melody, but I didn't feel like I could care for her after Sofia passed. Please tell her about who I used to be. Because tonight I'll be joining Sofia, don't try to stop me." Amber couldn't believe it. Vivian was going to take her own life, but she knew she could not do anything to stop her. "Okay, I'll tell her all about you and Sofia, and don't worry, I won't stop you. Goodbye, forever, Vivian." "Goodbye forever to you too, Amber." Vivian replied as she hung up, and with trembling hands, she raised a blade to her throat and whispered, "I'm sorry, Melody." She sliced her own throat, bleeding out onto the oak floor of her cabin in the woods.
Amber dropped her phone and started crying, "No!! No! This can't be happening!" Amber yelled as she hit herself repeatedly because she could have stopped her, sending her somewhere to get help. But no, she failed her niece by allowing Vivian to kill herself.
She didn't notice her niece watching her fade into a sobbing mess "Aunt Amber?" The woman turned her head to look at the door. She gestured for the girl to come to her side. Melody stayed in the doorway for a few moments, wondering what made her aunt crumble like charcoal fresh from a fire.
As she walked in, she could tell instantly that something wasn't right. "What happened?" Melody asked softly. Amber looked at her and whispered, "It's your mother. She joined your other mom up in heaven."
Melody was numb to her aunt's words as she barely knew the woman. "Good, she never loved me anyway!" Melody yelled at her. The woman then raised, turned around to face her, and slapped her. "She loved you more than you will ever know! She gave you to me because she felt like she couldn't care for you ever since my sister died giving birth to you!" Amber yelled as she looked the girl in the eyes, cold gold looking into brown.
