A Song of Love

"Gather round children, nice weather is it not? It makes me think of a long bygone day it was the festival of the dragon. Would you like to hear this tale, a tale of an unlikely couple. Of a dragon who danced with a human under the stars?" the children silently nod at the bard who then grabs a small music box from his pocket. The bard starts to slowly wind up the music box and opens it up, in it are a figure of a man and a woman holding each other start to dance as the music starts to play.

"Under stars great tales were being told to all who wanted to hear, under stars he saw her here. Dancing and singing, she enthralled all with her tale. But he, he was enthralled mostly by her, how she moved how she spoke how she told her tales."

"after she was done with her tale he walked up to her, challenging her to a contest of storytelling. Folks all around gathered to hear it all for a bard contest was rare to behold, and so it was that both tell their best tales and letting the audience decide who had told the best tale. Even though he lost the contest there were no bad feelings between the two as they looked deep in eachothers eyes."

"From this day forward the two bards would travel the world together falling so deep in love that they even surpassed the deepest depth. For him this love was very unexpected not only was he a dragon he was the elder dragon the oldest of all dragons. When he finally told her of his true nature instead of it ending their relation she just asked to see his true self. When he did she kissed his mouth and pledged right there to marry."

"Their marriage would be celebrated throughout the lands and every time they visited one of the festivals it would be one of the best in years. Years would go one in bliss, and in love they would tell tales in song and dance to anyone who wanted to listen. All their tales would be based in truth and have something to learn from. During these celebrations they created their own song, a song to tell the tale of their life."

"But time is a cruel mistress he would outlive her this was sure as an elder dragon can live for millennia and a human would only life for a century. So it was that she became deadly ill and laid on her deathbed with him at her side so loud and mournful that its said that the trees, the mountains and even the sky cried with him."

"she told him that they had a great time together and that never in her life would she ever imagined dancing under the stars with someone as wonderful as him, she asked him to not be sad for what he had lost my but to be happy for what they had and never to give up telling tales. He answered back the he would never forget her his one true love, where ever he would go he would always carry their song with him and whoever wants to hear shall hear the song of them dancing under the stars, telling tales to whomever wanted to hear and whenever he would sing this very song he would think of her."

"with those last words she passed on from this world leaving the dragon alone but as he said he carried her songs always with her in a special music box with a dragon holding a human female on the front and whenever he would sing her song he could hear her sing with her, he could see her dance and hear her enthrall the audience with her voice."

With those words the music box plays its last few notes and the dancers stop their dance, the bard picks up the music box and closes it and looks at his audience who is completely enthralled by his tale. "and so ends the tale of how a dragon danced under the stars with a human." The bard says no more words and walks off as another comes to take his place. One of the children then remarks to the new bard how odd it was that the description of the music box was exactly the same as the music box the bard who left had with him. The audience looked at eachother not sure if the bard who had told them the tale was indeed the dragon or was just making things up.
