Something's Wrong...

Dean sighed as he finally finished his work for the day, wiping the sweat from his brow as he took a long drink from the water bottle he had brought. It had been five weeks since they had adopted Mike, and things were going amazing. He and Castiel were so happy, nothing could ever get in the way, ad not to mention that his job was getting even better and better.

When he noticed the two police officers making their way over, their uniforms specked with blood, he frowned, standing. "Are you alright?" He asked the both of them, a bit of alarm flooding his chest. The two men looked at him tiredly, one of them nodding his head.

"We're fine, Dean." The man, Kevin, said. He had joined the force not long after Dean had, and it was strange to see a friendly face from high school, but he wasn't complaining. "We just had to answer to a call. Apparently, the Angels are starting to make more and more hits lately. We got there just in time to watch the man bleed out and had to keep the crime scene blocked while we waited for the professionals. "

"The Angel's? You mean that assassination group?" Dean asked, though he knew very well exactly what the group was. It had been the group that Michael had joined after Alistair had died, and in turn got him killed as well. He felt his chest burn with anger, the thought of them and what almost happened to Castiel making his blood boil.

"Yeah, that's the one. This was the second hit this week." Kevin replied, taking a seat on of the chairs, his partner, a man named Andy, sitting down as well. Dean sat in the chair he had been in before, listening intently.

"What was the crime scene like?" Dean asked a little bit to interestingly, his eyes narrowed. Kevin and Andy exchanged looks, but it was common knowledge that the Winchester had a personal vedette against the group, so they let it slide.

"Well, the guy had got his throat slit. It seemed like the assassin was a lot sloppier than the others, maybe a newbie. Anyways, we got there ten minutes after the call and the man that had been attacked was still alive, so we thought there might have been a chance, but it was already too late. According to the evidence, the assassin basically vanished. Reviewing the cameras came up with something though. There was a witness, but whoever it was was gone before we got there." Kevin retold, wiping at his forehead with a cloth. Dean's eyes widened at what that meant.

There was someone that knew what the assassin looked like, maybe even know. Getting just one of The Angel's members could be vital to bringing down the whole corporation. He ran the ideas over in his head, but it became redundant when he realized that even if the witness saw anything, they would have to be found first.

"I see. Well, I need to get home to Castiel and Mike. I'll see both of you tomorrow, alright?" Dean said, patting both of them on the shoulders. As much as he would love to stay and try to find a way to find the witness, he knew Castiel would get angry if he was late to getting home. The Winchester had learned early on his husband got really nervous over Dean's well-being.

Castiel stared at his phone with terror, a shiver running along his spine as he heard the deep, altered voice come through the speaker. When he first got the number, and found it as a unknown number, he had been suspicious, then the voice had him froze in place, his mind replaying over and over again what the voice wanted him to do.

"I...I won't do it." Castiel stammered, his voice quivering as much as his body was. The voice let out a soft laugh, the alteration of it giving him panic in his heart.

"You will. You see, we know exactly who you live with, who you love, and it would be a shame if they were to....discontinue living." The voice growled, a pleased sigh escaping through the phone as if whoever was calling him enjoyed his fear and pain.

"But, what use would The Angel's have with me? I'm not an assassin. I don't kill." Castiel tried to reason, to hope the voice would consider not even bothering trying to recruit the black-haired Novak. The voice huffed, seemingly growing annoyed with this conversation.

"Why they want you is none of your business. What you should know is should you refuse, death won't come to your loved ones. No, what they will experience will make them wish they were dead." The voice hissed, making Castiel shiver again. He was so glad that he had let Mike go to his friend's house yesterday.

"You will give us your answer in three days, or you'll be responsible for the lives of your family." The voice growled before the line clicked off. The ringing made Castiel drop his phone, letting out a whimper as he buried his head in his hands.

Dear God, what was he going to do?

It took an hour and Mike's friend pulling up into the driveway before Castiel moved from that spot. He was shivering, his face pale, and he felt like he was going to be sick. In fact, he was racing to the bathroom at this exact moment to puke up everything he had eaten today.

In the midst of his vomiting, he heard the door open and knew Mike was home. He tried to keep down the noise, to not let the boy know that something was wrong, but he was terrible at being quiet, and Mike found him.

"Cas?! Are you okay?" Mike asked, rushing over to his foster father and rubbing his back as he heaved. It was a few minutes before Castiel could answer, but as soon as he stopped, he let out a sob.

"I-I'm fine M-Mike." Castiel whimpered, tears making his way down his face. He moved to the sink, running some water into his hands and wiping it over his face, trying to hide the tears.

"You don't seem okay." Mike said hesitantly. He had learned that neither Dean or Castiel liked to talk about what was bothering them, except with each other. "Do you want me to call Dean?"

"No!" Castiel's shout probably scared the poor teen to death, but he couldn't hear Dean at the moment. He needed to prepare himself to lie to his husband. "No. I'll be fine. How was your time at your friend's house?"

At this, Mike grew uncomfortable, shifting his feet and looking away. "Ah, it went...fine." Mike mumbled, and Castiel instantly grew suspicious. Mike always loved talking about what he did at his friends' houses.

"Are you okay? You're not acting like yourself." Castiel asked, using this moment to distract himself from what had made him sick before. Besides, Mike's problems would always be more important than his anyways.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just tired. We stayed up all night." Mike admitted and Castiel noticed how pale his adopted son actually looked. He had bags that was beginning to form under his eyes, and his eyes seemed dull with tiredness.

"Well, how about you go lay down and rest? I'll come and get you when dinner is ready." Castiel offered, pulling his son into a hug. Mike automatically hugged him back, knowing that the black-haired Novak always liked embraces.

They parted, and Castiel smiled, feeling his happiness come back for just a moment, before it sunk again as he realized what he had to do. He could never let any harm ever come to his son or his husband.

Sam was getting worried about Lucifer. Ever since that day three weeks ago, he was becoming more of a recluse. Gabriel was getting even more worried than Sam, as Lucifer had never been the hiding sort.

Sam was beginning to worry that Lucifer was falling out of love with him. He noticed that the Novak no longer kissed him unless the Winchester initiated it, and flat out refused to have sex with him anymore at all. It bothered him, and he needed to find out what was going on.

So he cornered Lucifer that night. "What's going on Lucifer? You've been acting strange." Sam asked, crossing his arms over his chest as he stared at Lucifer with narrowed eyes. The blond Novak shifted on his feet, looking down at the floor.

"What do you mean?" Lucifer asked, and Sam scowled, putting one hand under his chin and lifting his head so he was forced to look the Winchester in the eye.

"Well, first off, you never look me in the eye anymore. Second, you never kiss me unless I start it, you never have sex with me, you've been avoiding all of us. Do you realize how much Carrie and Jake have been asking for you? Do you want to leave this family? Do you not love us anymore?" Sam asked, his voice becoming desperate as he actually considered if Lucifer did not want to be around anymore. It tore at his heart like none other.

"No! I love you all and I'd never ever want to leave any of you!" Lucifer protested, his eyes wide with fear and almost panic. Sam believed him. No one could have that look on his face and not be telling the truth.

"Then what's going on Lucifer? I want to help you but I need to know." Sam pressed gently, placing his hands on Lucifer's shoulders. The blond Novak looked up at him, chewing on his lower lip.

"I've just been stressed lately. I promise you, that everything is fine." Lucifer said, giving the Winchester a reassuring smile. Sam nodded, hugging Lucifer tightly and holding him close.

Neither one of them believed that lie though.
