Not the Help Lucifer Expected, but It Might Just Be Better

So, I'm not aware if I told you this or not, but Wattpad got blocked on my school's servers, so now, I have to use Google Drive for writing and waiting until I get home to post chapters. It really sucks, because on my school laptop, Google Drive drops the internet a lot and I'll spend 50% of my time waiting on it to allow me back on, but oh well, at least I something. Anyways, that's why my updates have been a bit slow. I apologize for the delays.

It had been a week since his incident, and nothing had gotten any better. He was filled with guilt and sorrow, and he greatly regretted his inability to have ended it beforehand. It felt like a wave, crashing continuously over his head and not giving the chance to breath. Lucifer knew it wouldn't be long before he tried to grab that gun again.

The therapy did not help, not at all. He didn't blame the therapist exactly, he blamed himself for not being able to tell her everything that was wrong, to let go of his secrets and finally let loose what was mentally destroying him. Without that release, he was just a ticking time bomb.

The scariest thing for him that week was being around the children. He would beg Sam or Gabriel - usually Gabriel because Sam was at Dean's so much - to keep them away, so they wouldn't have to see him so broken. Gabriel complied everytime, a sad look in his eyes as he watched his older brother slowly lose his mind.

It was at the end of this week when Lucifer was cooking, staring at the knife in his hands like an escape when Gabriel walked in. The blond-haired Novak took a shuddering breath, trying to hide the fact he had been thinking about the blade as a means of death and returned to cutting, trying to act as normal as he possible could. It was when Gabriel spoke those two words that he felt his heart freeze.

"I know"

In that instant, Lucifer saw the life he had flashing before his eyes. He was going to be thrown out, never to talk or see the family he had grown with Sam and Gabriel and left all alone. He was going have to remember the look on both of their faces, as they contorted to one of distrust and betrayal. Lucifer's grip on the knife tightened, and his breathing got erratic as he slowly turned to face his brother, preparing himself for the worse.

Tears began to fall when he saw nothing but concern on Gabriel's face, a sob wracking from his chest as he tried to cover his mouth. His shoulders shook as Gabriel slowly moved over to his older brother, taking the knife from his hands and setting it on the counter before wrapping his arms tightly around him in a hug.

"It's okay, Luci. It's okay." Gabriel whispered, threading his fingers through his brother's hair in a calming motion, letting Lucifer cry into his shoulder. The green-eyed Novak let out sob after sob, allowing himself to finally let go after so long. Suddenly, the weight was beginning to lift from his shoulders, and he began seeing the light that he never realized was there.

When Lucifer finally stopped crying, he pulled away from his brother just enough that he could talk. "How did you find out?" Lucifer asked, wiping at the stray tears that crept from the corners of his eyes. Gabriel smiled softly, giving a slight shrug.

"I called your work to tell them what was going on when they told me you were fired almost a month ago. I was so confused because I had no idea how you would be making money if you didn't have a job, so I followed." Gabriel admitted, a sad look crossing his face. Lucifer felt his face pale, knowing that his brother had saw everything.

"Gabriel, I can explai-" Lucifer started desperately, but got cut off as Gabriel shushed him gently, a firm look in his eyes.

"I can understand why you did it." Gabriel answered softly, his whiskey-colored eyes bright with worry. "You were desperate for a job and I know how hard it is to find work when the world hates people like us, but you could have come to me and Sam. We could have helped and you would have never had to do that in the first place."

Lucifer shuddered, his heart beating rapidly. "I wanted to, but, I didn't want to worry either of you with the finances. Without the money I was bringing in, we would have gone below the budget that we needed to keep Jake and Carrie, and I can't imagine my life without them." Lucifer replied, tears sliding down his cheeks as he hugged his brother again, his voice cracking.

Gabriel hugged him back, his hand rubbing smooth circles in his brother's back. "It's okay. We'll find you a job. We'll keep our kids, and you won't have to hurt yourself anymore." Gabriel whispered before pulling away and fishing out his phone, typing on it before holding it up to his ear.

"What are you doing?" Lucifer asked, wiping at his face once again. Gabriel held his finger to his brother's lip, a small smile crossing his face before he began paying attention to his phone. Lucifer could hear the faint incoherent sound of Sam's voice coming from it.

"Hey, Sammich. Could you come home? We really need to discuss some things." Gabriel said, nodding to himself. Lucifer listened, unable to make out what Sam was saying in return, but it made his heart race with nerves all the same.

Gabriel hung up and looked at Lucifer, placing a hand on his shoulder. "He'll be home in a minute. Just trust us alright? We're not going to disown you or anything." Gabriel said, a small teasing tone coming into his voice. Lucifer smiled, but he knew that that's exactly what he was afraid of.

Lucifer felt like hyperventilating when he heard Sam's car pull into the driveway. Gabriel gave him a sympathetic glance before putting away the book he had read to help Jake and Carrie go to sleep for their nap time. He took a seat beside Lucifer, placing a hand on his brother's arm as Sam opened the door and walked into the house.

"Hey, are you guys okay?" Sam asked, his eyes involuntarily lingering longer on Lucifer than what should have been necessary. The blond-haired Novak swallowed nervously, shifting to get more comfortable as Sam took a seat.

"Lucifer has something he needs to tell you." Gabriel said, his voice soft and more serious now that the discussion was really happening. "IT's not going to be easy for him to tell, or you to hear, but it needs to be done."

Sam nodded and looked expectantly at Lucifer, waiting for him to begin. Lucifer swallowed nervously, his hands clenching into fists as he took a shaky breath, slowly telling Sam from beginning to end. Throughout the whole story, he kept his eyes firmly on the table, his heart racing and his body shaking, telling him to run, to escape before Sam could get mad at him, but Gabriel's hand on his arm kept him grounded and kept him talking.

When he finished, there was a silence that stretched between all of them as Sam soaked it all in. Lucifer slowly raised his head, gazing at his emotionless lover. Sam stood, his face suddenly twisted to one of rage before a stinging slap jerked Lucifer's head to the side.

"You idiot!" Sam shouted, tears welling quickly in his eyes. Lucifer clutched his face, his heart burning with pain as he realized that Sam would not forgive him. He felt his own tears come back, silently begging the gods above to help him.

Gabriel stood, his form automatically going into a protective stance as he blocked Sam's way to Lucifer. Sam, however, just scowled around him, tears falling quickly. "Did you think that I wouldn't understand?! That I wouldn't be able to help you?! Lucifer! I love you! You could have told me! You could have save yourself so much pain!"

Lucifer felt his tears begin to fall as he listened to Sam's shouts, his lip quivering as he stared at the enraged man. Angry Sam was terrifying, and Lucifer almost found himself scared for his life. Gabriel tried to stop Sam from doing something stupid, but Sam brushed past him like it was nothing, reaching for Lucifer.

Lucifer screwed his eyes shut, waiting for the inevitable moment when he would be grabbed, punched, and thrown out of his home, but it never came. Instead, he was crushed in Sam's arms as his lover hugged him, crying into his hair.

"I'm so sorry you thought you had to do that." Sam whispered and Lucifer finally realized that Sam was not angry at him. Sam was angry at himself for not seeing it earlier and helping him. Lucifer let out a shuddering breath, feeling the pain in his heart beginning to ease as he hugged Sam back.

"I'm so sorry for lying." Lucifer whispered with a quivering voice, keeping his hands wrapped around Sam's neck as he held him close. He glanced over Sam's shoulder at Gabriel, who relaxed as he realized Sam was not going to murder, a wide smile plastered on his face.

Lucifer smiled as wide as he could when he realized everything was going to be alright.

I almost forgot! I have started a Wincestiel so if you're interested, I would really appreciate if you take a look at it. It's not the most popular pairing, but it is interesting to try and create a romance between the three and make it flow.
