Coming Out

So, because my computer wouldn't do shit yesterday, I didn't get to post this chapter last night. I have two chapters of this now, so I'm going to post of them as an apology

Gabriel sat back in his desk with a sigh, reaching over to his computer and pulling up the necessary files he would need for the next lesson. Clicking on the powerpoint for World War II, he waited patiently for the students to come in, the warning bell going off only a moment

later.

When the final bell rang, he stood, surveying the students sitting in his class. All but one of them were here, and he marked the name of the absent student off before moving to the board, turning on the smartboard projector.

"Good afternoon class." Gabriel said in a friendly manner. A few students replied back, but he didn't find himself minding their lack of enthusiasm. He had been in a good mood ever since Lucifer's problem came to an end, and a classroom of tired students wasn't going to get him down.

"You sure seem chipper, Mr. Novak." One girl piped up, leaning on her desk. Gabriel just smiled at her, shrugging as he started the powerpoint.

"Some of the family issues we've been having is resolved. I'm just happy that we all got through it." Gabriel replied, his eyes softening as he thought of his family. After a moment, he shook his head, tapping the board so it would go to the slide.

"If you'll copy these notes down, I'll go over the Battle of Britain. That's where we left off correct?" Gabriel said, leaning on the podium the school had provided. There was a mumble of yes spreading through the classroom, and the Novak sighed, running his hand through his hair. It was always the class right after the bell that seemed to require the most energy to get through.

A few students finished in the matter of a few minutes, setting their pencils down and waiting for the others to catch up. Gabriel felt bad for not doing anything while they waited, but he always hated when the teacher talked while he was writing and missed vital information. He wasn't going to do the same.

"How are your kids?" The same girl asked, tapping her eraser on the desk rhythmically as she watched him with sharp eyes. Gabriel, although never mentioning his relationship, had talked about his kids all the time. He loved to answer questions that anyone might have about them.

"Carrie's got her first loose tooth yesterday." Gabriel said proudly, smiling as he thought of his kids. "And Jake has taken to visiting the beach on the weekends with my brother."

The girl frowned, furrowing her eyebrows. "You have a brother? You've never mentioned him." The girl asked, her blond hair falling around her face as she leaned forwards interestedly. Another girl mumbled in agreement, tipping her head.

"You also say you're in a relationship, but you never talk about your wife?" She added in, her bouncy brown curls contrasting greatly with the other girl's pale blonde hair. Gabriel rubbed the back of his neck, glancing away uncomfortably.

"Ah, well, I have two brothers that I still speak to." Gabriel said, trying to think of a way to get out of this conversation. He noticed that almost everyone had stopped writing, and he begged silently for the slower writers to hurry and finish.

"Tell us about them." The blonde replied. The rest of the class listened eagerly, glad to have gotten the teacher's mind off the lecture. Gabriel sighed, shaking his head.

"I'll tell you all about them after the lesson. Deal?" Gabriel bribed, earning a groan from a couple students. He didn't let up however, and began to teach finally, describing the assault on England in great detail. By the time he was finished, there was about twenty minutes left of class, which meant ten minutes of torture for Gabriel.

He closed the powerpoint and shut off his computer, hoping that the students were too eager to go to actually ask any more questions. Yet, his reluctance to answer earlier had sparked their interest, and there was no getting out of it.

"Don't forget what you said earlier!" A guy in the back said, his bright ginger hair catching Gabriel's attention. He sighed, nodding and leaning back in his seat.

"What would you like to know about my family?" Gabriel asked, resting his hands in his lap. He saw one hand raise quickly, and he pointed at the black-headed girl.

"What are your brothers' names?" She asked, her bold voice not quite matching her timid appearance. Gabriel winced, as she had asked the one question he had hoped would not come up.

"Castiel and...Lucifer." Gabriel said. Instantly, any whispering fell silent as the students looked at him with a strange expression. The history teacher looked away and down at his lap, not wanting to meet their gazes.

"Why was he named Lucifer?" One guy piped up. Gabriel sighed, sitting up and facing the students. This was going to be an awkward chat for him.

"My father was a religious nut. He always liked Luci better than the rest of his kids, so I assume that's why." Gabriel said, shrugging. HE swallowed the lump that was beginning to form in his throat, hoping that he wouldn't have to delve very far into his past.

"Who's the youngest out of you three?"

"I am" Gabriel answered, smirking slightly at their surprised faces. "What? I'm only twenty-four. Castiel is twenty-eight. Lucifer is thirty."

"You said before that you had two that you speak to. Does that mean you have more?"

Gabriel grew very uncomfortable at that question. "Yes, I do, but we don't talk about them. Next question please."

"Does your brothers have kids too?"

"Castiel had adopted a kid your age, but he died only a couple weeks ago." Gabriel answered, a silence falling over the classroom for a moment. "Lucifer helps me raise my kids."

"Lucifer helps? What about your wife?" A girl piped up, her eyes glowing with curiosity and

her eyebrows creased. Gabriel sighed for the thousandth time today, shaking his head.

"I don't have a wife and Lucifer stays with us so he can stay close to family." Gabriel said, his voice remaining cautious. If he was to let it slip that he was with a guy, nevermind two, he would lose his job, just like Lucifer had.

"Oh, you're not married? Why do you wear a ring? And wouldn't your life be chaotic with five people living in your house?"

"Yes, my life is pretty chaotic, but it feels normal to me. As for my ring..." Gabriel paused, trying to find the best way to word it. "I wear it as a promise and a reminder of what I went through."

"Why does your brother want to stay close to your family?"

"He's going through a rough time. He lost his job and was suicidal for a while. We're taking care of him." Gabriel said, wincing as he spoke. These kids were striking a bit too close to their mark, and it had only been five minutes.

"Are either of your brothers married?" One girl asked, deciding to change the subject. Gabriel couldn't help but give her a grateful look.

"Castiel is." Gabriel answered, relaxing a bit as the topic got off of his household. The teens seem to notice that as well.

"What's his wife like?"

Gabriel let the question sink in for a minute before he snorted as the image of Dean in a flowery dress came up. He ignored the confused looks of the students, trying to hold back his laughter. "Yes, well, unlike my brother, his husband is very tough acting even though he's secretly a sap."

"Husband?" One boy echoed, his head tipping. Gabriel nodded, crossing his arms across his chest.

"Yes, my brother is married to a man. I don't see how it matters since it is perfectly legal?" Gabriel said, a warning in his voice that stopped anyone from saying something offending.

"Do you get along with his husband?"

Gabriel snorted again, a sarcastic look coming over his face. "Asking me if I got along with Dean Winchester is like asking if a rabbit got along with a wolf. The answer? No, I didn't get along with him at all until they got married."

"What made you change your mind?" Gabriel's eyes darted to the clock, sighing in relief when he saw that it was only two more minutes.

"Well, I'm good friends with his brother, Sam. He sort of got us to call a truce." Gabriel said, shrugging on his jacket as he spoke. "I'm afraid that's all the questions I can answer today."

"Sir! One more question!" One girl asked, waiting until Gabriel nodded at her before speaking again. "I looked up your name in google and the things that popped up were-"

Gabriel cut her off, his heart beginning to hammer. "Please, don't speak about that. What happened in the past, I would like to keep in the past." Gabriel snapped a little harshly, turning away from his students when the bell rang.

The next few days in class was horrible. By then, everyone had spoke about his weird behavior and what had been found on the internet. It was causing such a disturbance in class, that Gabriel was forced to yell at kids who were chatting among themselves instead of paying attention. Right at this moment, it was his planning period and he was already sick of it.

He had googled his name to figure out what exactly the students had found and came upon a newspaper from ten years ago, marking Michael's death. As he read, he felt a sense of pain rise in his throat, threatening to choke him as he clicked out of the browser, not dwelling any longer on that blasted search engine.

A knock on his door brought him out of his sorrow. "Yes?" Gabriel said, his voice cracking slightly as the door opened, three male teens walking in with a sheepish look on their faces. Gabriel felt his heart sink as he realized what that meant.

"What can I do for you?" Gabriel asked, trying to keep up the appearance of nothing bothering him. The tallest teen took a step forwards, glancing around the room before meeting Gabriel's gaze.

"There's rumors going around about you." He said, his voice almost a mumble. Gabriel had to lean forwards to hear. "I just wanted to warn you incase anyone comes in asking ridiculous questions."

Gabriel blinked in surprise, not suspecting that. He nodded, his forehead creasing as the small group of three left, leaving him confused. Why would they tell him? What were the rumors.

He was soon to learn when the class after lunch rolled around. He had been pulling up a powerpoint for the lesson of the day when the blonde smacked her phone on his desk, the screen brightly lit and flashing.

"What is this?" She asked, an accusing tone in her voice. Gabriel looked down at the phone, bile rising in his throat when he saw himself and Sam standing in the Elementary School, waiting for Carrie and Jake while holding hands. Gabriel tried to find words, something at all to say, but it just wouldn't work.

"Where did you find this?" He spat out eventually, unable to form any sort of excuse. The blonde looked only upset as she pulled her phone away from his desk, pocketing it.

"I was picking my sister up for my mom and saw you." She said, the accusing tone coming back. The other students were watching them with mild curiosity, and it only made Gabriel's stomach twist as he felt his world crashing around him.

"I don't understand." Gabriel said, slowly standing. He wasn't much taller than her, but what he lacked in height, he now made up for in anger. "Why couldn't you stay out of my business? What is knowing about my relationship going to help you in any way, shape, or form? If I wasn't so worried about losing my job over this, I could have told you all without a problem. I'm not ashamed of who I love so why did you insist on prying?"

Gabriel looked at all the students, sweeping one hand out in. He was almost growling, the students closest to him flinching their desks. "You want to know about my family? Fine. I'm in a relationship with a man named Sam Winchester, but that's not all. No, if you must know, I'm also in another relationship. I'm in a three way relationship. Are you happy you know now? Are you happy to know that I will lose my job over this information, knowing that you will cause an entire family to suffer if you told the board?"

Gabriel had to pause to keep from yelling, reminding himself over and over again that they were just students. He turned to the blonde, a pain filling him unlike any other. "Thank you for ruining everything I have built here. Now, if you don't mind. Will you take a seat so I can finish this day and face termination tomorrow?"

The blonde took a seat at this, a small squeak of fear escaping her lips. Gabriel sighed and walked over to the podium, his body shaking furiously as he tapped on the board. "Copy down the notes. Absolutely no talking."

Not a word passed from any student's lips that entire class.
