Y/N

It was a bright and sunny day, I was hanging out with my best friend, Shuichi. We went to different schools, but we lived right beside each other, and hung out constantly, probably because he's my only friend. I didn't mind though, the other kids are idiots. I honestly can't stand being around idiots, it makes me want to scream! Shuichi and I were sitting on a park bench when a guy with black hair and hints of green walked up to us. "I mean Shuichi, I need to talk to you, in private."

He nodded and looked at me, "I'll be right back, if you'll excuse me." He stood up and the two of them walked just out of earshot, joining three other people. There were two guys and a girl. The girl had long, light blue hair, one of the guys was tall, and had thick reddish-orange hair that is greased back into a 1950s Elvis Pompadour/jelly roll hairstyle. The other guy was short, like really short, and had black hair with blue hints, and white tips.

I wasn't able to hear what they were talking about, but I kinda figured they didn't want me to hear, seeing as how they walked out of my sight. I ended up reading a book I had with me. I always carry at least one book on me, although I couldn't really focus on my book, my eyes kept on wandering to the short guy. I don't know what it was, but his aura just felt so... so captivating.

He glared over and snared, causing me to quickly look down at my book. If I had to be honest, I would say I've recognized the three from my school. The tall one would always walk around with his 'gang' of friends, thinking he owned the school. The one with green hints in his hair skipped most of the time, and the short one acted like he didn't care about anything.

Not really focusing on my book, I turned the page, making a mental note to go back to the page and reread it. I started to hum softly to myself, when suddenly I felt something behind me. I immediately turned around, and saw the short boy looking over my shoulder, "Tch, what are you doing?! Stop humming, you're distracting everyone. Also, you aren't reading, I saw you staring! Stop trying to listen in on the conversation."

I gulped and looked up, his eyes staring into mine."It's not what you think, I was just curious as to what y'all were doing!" I explained.

"It is of no concern to you, human!" He sneered.

I blinked, "Human? Aren't we all human?" I wondered out loud.

"Don't pay any attention to Hiei," Shuichi said, appearing beside me.

"Hiei, so that's his name." I muttered, looking over at Shuchi. "When did you get back over here?"

"Just now," he said, smiling apologetically. "I'm sorry, but unfortunately something has come up, can we hang out again another time?"

"Yeah sure," I smiled, standing up, "see you later, Shuchi."

I walked off, wondering what that was all about. I wandered around the park, bored out of my mind since I had nothing else to do today, I missed hanging out with Shuchi, it had been a while since we had hung out anyways, because of school. An idea popped into my mind, I knew it was a bad idea, but I didn't care, that's how bored I was.

I went back to where Shuchi and the others were and secretly followed them. The five of them turned around, and I mentally cursed at myself. Did I make a noise? I don't remember stepping on anything, I immediately ducked behind a big rock, praying they didn't see me. After a few more seconds of looking around, they continued walking. I sighed in relief and felt a sudden urge to turn back, but curiosity got the better of me.

So, I continued following them, making sure to be extra quiet this time.

A few good minutes later, they stopped and got into... a fighting position? I blinked in confusion, when I saw creatures of different colors. I watched them in anticipation, as I felt a pain on the back of my head, which caused me to scream and grab onto the tree I was hiding behind. My vision slowly began to blur and the last thing I heard was Shuichi yelling my name and grumbling before I fell unconscious, letting darkness engulf me.

When I awoke, I found myself bound to an electric cage. I frowned and tried to get free, not exactly sure what was going on, "Oh good, you're awake, the perfect bait," a voice said, but I'm not sure where it came from.

"Bait? Bait for what? What are you!?" I yelled frantically, once I finally got a glimpse of my captor. I saw a person, with shoulder-length orangish-blonde hair, split down the middle, with two red bangs hanging off his face. He also had a really ugly pet bird that flew around, and a flute, which he seemed to keep in his sight all the time.

"Bait to get the spirit detective and his group, one of them seems attached to you for some reason," the creature responds.

What worried me the most, was that he looked halfway human, but not fully human.

"Spirit detective?" I asked, raising a brow, "I don't know what that is, how about you let me go?"

"Don't play dumb!" The creature growled, kicking me in the stomach. I grunted in pain and tried not to cry out, I was used to being kicked and punched, so I had built up a high pain tolerance, but he was much stronger than the bullies at school. The electric ropes kept getting tighter by the second and I closed my eyes, trying to deal with it as best I could, "I honestly don't know what you're talking about!"

"I said stop playing dumb!" He growled again, tightening the ropes even more.

I screamed in pain and looked up, "Please stop... It... It hurts," I whimpered weakly.

The creature just laughed and tightened the binds once more, before walking away.

I looked down, why did I follow Shuichi and the others? What did they even do? None of this made sense, I just want to go home! I honestly should have just gone home when Shuichi got busy, what was I thinking? I should really stop letting my curiosity get the best of me, you know what they say, curiosity killed the cat... Was I going to die here? I'm so stupid! I stood there, arms and legs bound to the floor by electricity, how was this even possible? How was his bird even able to talk? Tears began to fall down my face, but I quickly stopped them. I wasn't going to let myself cry. While I tried to stop myself from crying, the creature-human thing came back.

"I was right, your friends did come," he grinned. "But just in case you aren't enough, I'm gonna send my Makai insects after Yuskes's girlfriend." He started playing his flute and I started to get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. Wait, he said my friends. Is Shuichi here? At the moment, he is my only friend, I don't really know the others, so they wouldn't come for me, they would come for something else most likely. I hope Shuichi isn't here, I don't want him getting hurt!
