Kurama
After Hiei left, I continued taking care of Y/N. I can't believe I was stupid enough to let her get taken! I should have kept an eye on her while talking to the others about the mission. I looked over her bruised body and sighed, that electricity got her good. I wouldn't be surprised if it took her a few days to wake up, although I hoped it didn't take that long. I'd also have to figure out an excuse for school.
I couldn't risk taking her to a doctor, they would question her injuries, questions I didn't have answers for, so a doctor's note was out of the question. I looked her over once more and decided burn cream would be the best option. I got up and went to look for burn cream, after finding some, I gently rubbed it on her wounds. Afterwards, I created a pallet on the floor and laid down, not wanting her to leave her alone. I closed my eyes, falling asleep, exhausted from todays' events.
The next day I woke up at 6:30 and changed Y/N's rags, applying more burn cream on her wounds, I left a note for her incase she woke up, letting her know I would be back after school, and headed out, knowing I needed to go and sort everything out at the school. I wasn't keen about leaving her, but what was I to do? I sighed and made my way towards school, I'm hoping she'll wake up by the time I get back home.
As the school day dragged on, I wasn't really paying much attention like I normally would, I was too worried about Y/N. What if she woke up confused and accidentally hurt herself? Thoughts continued to run through my mind when the teacher called on me. I already knew the answer though, so I just answered it and went back to my thoughts.
When school finally ended, I left immediately. I'm not exactly in the mood to chat with anyone at the moment. I made my way to her school and told the teachers that Y/N had fallen down the stairs and hit her head and wouldn't be back for a bit. As I walked back home, my mind began to wonder again. How could I fail to protect my best friend? I had thought about telling her the truth about me, but decided it was best to wait a while longer...maybe never even tell her, I didn't want her to have to deal with demons or my enemies.
Once I got home, I put my stuff in my house, giving mom a brief explanation about Y/N, basically the same thing I told the teachers, then made my way over to Y/N's house, frowning when I sensed more than one presence. I immediately rushed in, not stopping to see if I knew the scent, meaning I was surprised when I found Hiei sitting on the windowsill, arms crossed with a scowl on his face. "Hiei?" I ask, confused, "how long have you been here?"
"All day since your idiotic self left her here alone," He grumbels, jumping down, appearing next to me.
"I didn't know you cared about her," I smirk, looking him in the eyes.
"I don't! It's just that I risked my life to save her for you, I'm not letting her get kidnapped again!" He exclaims, with a red face.
"Uh huh, sure," I smirk, shaking my head, causing Hiei to growl, also causing me to chuckle.
"Whatever." He says, rolling his eyes, "since you're here I'm leaving."He says, jumping out the window. I chuckle and shake my head, looking over to Y/N. Taking a closer look I saw that her bandage had been changed, Hiei must have changed them for her, I didn't expect him to do that to be honest.
Smiling, I went to her kitchen and raided her fridge. I'm sure she doesn't mind me eating her food. Humming to myself, I made myself a sandwich, and made my way back to her room so I could keep an eye on her. I didn't need anything else happening to her, especially when she's completely defenseless.
A few hours later, I had finished my sandwich and had started reading a book I'd brought to Y/N so she wouldn't get bored, and to keep me entertained as well, I didn't want to just stare at her all day. She still hadn't woken up by the time night had fallen, I lay down on the pallet I made the night before and closed my eyes, falling asleep.
The next morning, I awoke to find Y/N's bed empty! "Y/N," I called out, searching the house for her. No response was heard as I continued shouting her name.
"Stop shouting, I have a headache," she groans, meeting me in the living room.
"Sorry," I chuckle, "I'm just glad you're ok."
"Why wouldn't I be?" She asks, confused.
"Well you were unconscious for a few days, speaking of which, you need to eat."
"Wait, backup, I was out for three days? Why? Did I fall and hit my head?"
"Wait...you don't remember? How peculiar."
"I'm so confused," she groans, "just tell me what happened."
"Oh, you fell down the stairs and you hit your head," I lie, not wanting her to know the truth, not yet at least...or maybe not ever.
"Oh no wonder I have a headache and my body's sore," she shrugs.
"You should eat then lay down, rest some more," I suggest.
"No, I don't have time for that, I've already missed three days of school.
"Fine, as long as you promise to eat before you leave this house and tell me what happened," I say, making my way to the kitchen to make her a sandwich.
She nods in agreement, "I don't remember much, I remember you talking to your friends and I have vague memories of a talking bird and the rest is blank."
"Well birds can't talk so that was probably just a dream," I lied, wanting to cover up the demon's bird. "Here's what actually happened, I went to talk to my friends for a few minutes then you, my friends, and I decided to hang out at my house. You went to the bathroom and when you came back said you felt a little dizzy, tripped, and fell down the stairs, and just woke up today."
"Oh, so I made a fool out of myself?" She asks, sadly. Does that short guy still hate me? He probably laughed at me, huh? I don't even know what I did to him."
I chuckle, shaking my head, "don't worry, he doesn't hate you, he just doesn't understand you, say why don't we all hang out again?" I ask, handing her a plate with a sandwich on it.
"I don't know, what if they think I'm stupid now?" She asks, taking the plate out of my hands.
"They don't, they're actually really worried about you," I explain, which was the truth, Yuske has had Botan contact me to see if Y/N was ok.
"Ok, fine, anyways we should get ready for school," she sighs, putting her half eaten sandwich back down on the plate.
"I still think you should wait till tomorrow," I tried again, but she just shakes her head, and heads to her room to get changed. She technically missed four days, the day we fought the demon, but I felt that wasn't very important, I've already got her missing work, which I'll give to her later. After she finished getting ready, we stopped by my house to give mother an update and to tell her bye before heading off in different directions. If you're wondering how I got her missing work since we go to different schools, well I went to her school to alert her teachers and get her work for her.
