Everything for Him
I saved him.
And that's all that mattered. I cried, my eyes fluttering as little fluffs of snow fell upon my cheeks. The sky is so blue. I coughed, the blood escaping from the corner of my lips, down my cheeks and then bleeding into the snow. Being joined with tears that traveled down my temples. I groaned, but some how my body started to feel numb. The pain that penetrated from my spine to my stomach seem to fade. And the world grew cold, I...I never felt this cold. It's so beautiful. So...peaceful? Is this...is this what death feels like?
"ELSA!" He screamed. Throwing Easter into a tree trunk and burying him in ice. Trapping him there before he fell to his knees. Not waisting time to hold me as he knelt. His eyes frantic and on nerve. "No no no no!" He pleaded, clinging to me as my head was nuzzled into his chest. His deep ocean blue eyes spilling as a waterfall fell down his cheeks and onto my chest. Staring at me with haunting eyes. My Jack...my sweet sweet Jack. "Why? Why did you do it? Why didn't you just-"
"Shhh," I hushed him. My hand weakly placing itself on his cheek. My thumb stroking his soft skin; oh god his skin. I can already feel myself beginning to choke up. As I counted all my "lasts" with this boy. "I don't have much time," I struggled to speak. My voice no more than a whisper. "Don't ask me why, tell me what you want to say to me."
"But-"
"Tell me what you want to say to me for the last time." I persisted, swallowing hard as my heart ached. There were so many emotions in his eyes. Pain, regret, remorse, love. So many things to say and so little time. So many things he couldn't describe with words that didn't exist and will never exist. He was speechless, but I could tell everything he wished to say from his eyes. 'I'm sorry', 'please don't go', 'stay with me', 'I love you'. There were so many things to say and he said them all the moment he grabbed my face and kissed me like there was no tomorrow. There is no tomorrow. His lips molded with mine effortless. A kiss so passionate, so needy but gentle. His lips were timid, quivering with passion and...hopelessness. This was gonna tear him in two. He would never be the same. I mourned for him; he will have to live on when I'm gone. He will have to go through life knowing that I died slowly in his arms. Knowing that I died protecting him. He will have to live on for the both of us. A fate greater than death.
I clung to him. My hands knotting at his shirt as I kissed him. I couldn't get enough of him, never enough. He kissed me, savored me for one last time. One last kiss before goodbyes were necessary. Before the drying of tears. Before the last look. Before the last gasp of breath escapes my lips. There was a lot of "lasts" in that kiss; a lot of "befores" as well. It was the best kiss we ever shared and I was so heart broken when we finally had to pull away for air. His hot breath fanny against my lips as he kept his forehead pressed on mine. Taking each other in as I could feel myself slowly become sleepy. My body becoming heavy, it took all my strength just to move.
"We would have had a great wedding." He whispered. My eyebrows furrowed with the words "would have". My heart strings being torn from my chest. The tears wouldn't stop and the quiver of the bottom lip was relentless.
"We wouldn't have had a great wedding, we would have had a legendary one." I struggled. Groaning with another wave of pain through me, startling Jack.
"Elsa!-"
"Don't worry about it." I was weak, my eye lids growing heavy.
"Don't worry about it!? Elsa you're d-" I cut him off with the placement of my fingers on his lips.
"Don't say that. You are not allowed to say that. Not right now. I know I am..." I swallowed hard. My mouth becoming dry. "...dying. But you can't focus on that right now. You can't-" I hissed. A bright light emerging from the corner of my eye. A warm powerful light. "You can't focus on me right now. You can't mourn, not at this moment. I-" I started to become light headed. I lost too much blood. Just a little more time. Please. Just let me say my final good bye. "I...I need you...to fight. They need you. They can't...do this alone. Save Tooth, Save the world. Finish...what...urgh we started. And then...you can mourn for me. But you have to...uh...promise me that will be happy again."
"There is no happiness without you." He sobbed. Burying his face into my neck. The coldness of his tears sending a chill through me. Clutching me tightly, almost suffocating me as he held on for dear life. Never ever wanting to let go. The white light only getting brighter in the distance. Blurring Jack's features from my view. This is it. This is the end.
"I know, but you have to try. Promise me that you'll try! And promise me that you won't blame yourself for my death. I would do this for you a hundred times over. I would do everything for you."
"I...I can't-"
"You must! Promise me Jack! Promise me." I demanded. Using up my final breaths, when did I get so tired.
He pulled away from my neck. Finally looking at me as our eyes connected. He was a total mess, watery eyes and a runny nose. The true signs of a sob. The true signs of crying pain. The sign of unimaginable loss. "I promised," he forced. A voice so hoarse that it felt like nails on the chalk board. A lump in his throat and shuddering of tense shoulders. I...I could feel myself begin to fade away. The feeling of my soul about to leave my body and...to enter into the warm light. I cried, swallowing hard with a smile.
"R-Remember when we first met," I laughed pathetically. My eyes locking with the sky as my chest jutted with a cough. My breath coming out in a wheeze. "You practically hated me. Even threw ice at me."
He laughed painfully, "You have no idea how much I hated myself for doing that." He grabbed my hand and kissed it. Taking a deep breath as his eyes brows knotted. A lonely tear escaping from his closed eyes and down his cheek. Glistening in the low sun.
"I would have loved you either way. I was destined to love you." I smiled. I felt this warmth, this light of peace and joy. It felt like home. It was taking over all my senses, beckoning me. "Jack-"
"No! Don't say it! Don't say goodbye." He was trembling, his shaky hands holding mine to his face, kissing my palm desperately. His jaw was clenched as his breath hitched with every tremble of his heart. I reached for him, pulling his head down gently, slowly. Like a child wanting to get their parent to bow their head. So they could reach them better. See them better. I kissed his forehead tenderly, my heart aching; my heart dying. Leaving one last ounce of affection. One last kiss of compassion.
"I love you."
❄️ Narrator ❄️
And she was gone.
Left with the dying of the wind. Left with the evaporating of the black blade that killed her. With the black dust that dispersed and simply vanished. With the blood and the pain; she was gone. And he had died with her. Leaving a hallow shell of a man, of a boy who only loved. He screamed, cradling her lifelessness in his arms. Rocking her as if she was just asleep. As if she didn't take the light away when she left. As if she would wake up one last time and kiss him. As if this was nothing but a bad dream: a nightmare.
He wanted to mourn. To wrap her up in his arms and just die there. To sob uncontrollably. Like a child throwing a tantrum after his favorite toy was taken. His favorite person taken away. He didn't want to move, he cursed every breath he took. Loathed every beat his heart generated. He hated the life he had and missed the one she gave. He wanted to unravel. To lie there in the snow and to be buried with the memory of her. He wanted so many things.
But he made a promise.
He slid his hands underneath her knees and shoulders. Bringing her closer to his chest, she was so light. So cold. With reluctant knees he stood with unsteady legs. Giving himself a minute before he headed for the nearest tree. Her head propped against his shoulder so it wouldn't hang limp. His back and shoulders tense as he stared at her as he walked. His feet dragging along the snow; noticing blue tainted lips and pale hollow cheeks. He stifled a cry; setting her down against the tree's massive trunk. Allowing it to cradle her as she was rolled up into a ball. Her dressed flared out onto the snow, a magnificent sight for a even more magnificent woman. He took a step back, taking one last look at his beloved fiancé. And then with a heavy heart extended his hand out to her. A orb made out of clear ice began to form around her. A diamond like geometric barrier to protect her. Distorting the view of her body from the outside.
He reached up, pulling his frosted blue hood onto his head. Covering his eyes as he kept them low to the ground. His arms tense and rigid, throwing his hand out to the side before his staff flew into it. Catching it with the same sound that erupts when a baseball player catches the ball. He turned, staff in hand while the other retreated into his hoodie. Walking slowly as his staff poked the snow with every swing of it. Stiff shoulders, thin pressed lips, and dark blue eyes. Angry did not even cover the burning emotion that was building up inside of him. The boiling of blood through his veins, pain was all he could see. No, angry couldn't even cover the half of it. Rage was more upbeat, but even then it didn't come close to what Jack Frost felt. Nothing could ever come close.
His feet moved as if they were on a mission. Except they weren't rushed, they moved slow and steady. Being moved by a powerful force as they dig themselves with each step. He staggered down the middle of the field. Walking passed Saraphine throwing North into the sky and Pitch being tripped by Sandy's golden sand. He was envious of their ignorance. Of the fact that they didn't know what happened to his beloved Elsa. That they didn't know of the pain he had to endure. Not yet anyway. He heard the distant roar of dragons thrashing at each other in the sky. Keeping his eyes to the ground he stared at his feet as they left prints in the snow. Walking down to the flying tooth that hovered a mile above the earth. Walking down to the women who tried to kill him, but instead did something way worst. He stopped a few feet before her. The atmosphere was still and silent as she looked peculiar at him. Wondering what his next move would be. Waiting to see the "powerful" Jack Frost in action. He slowly lifted his head, his hollow and dark eyes looking upon her with hate. A look that made her flinch back, a look that took her off guard.
He swallowed hard...and then in the blink of an eye a surge of power sparked the sky. A blizzard. Harsh winds and flecks of ice and snow danced around the 18 year old boy. Wrapping him up in the immense power of the personal storm that stretched fifteen feet in size. A few strands of white hair flaring in the wind as he lifted his head. Locking eyes with the enemy as he tilted his head to the side in a menacing fashion. His eyes narrowed and kicked off the ground with his heel. Ascending to the sky as he hovered effortlessly. Coming face to face with the Tooth he could no longer recognize. The one with black feathers and burning eyes. It was silent between them, his lips unmoving as she felt something unknown to her. It was fear, rejection. Except this feeling wasn't her own, it was the girl's. Of the guardian she possessed, the real Tooth that coward in fear in front of the boy she loved. Her motives were in-tune with Yami's when they were fighting Elsa. But Jack was her weakness and Yami began to fear that she might put up a fight. That she might try to break free of her hold.
"Jack Frost," she taunted. Shoving Tooth's soul back into the dark corner. knocking out her conscious so she could have full control. "I've heard so much about you."
He said nothing. Nostrils flaring as he breathed heavily. Trying so hard to contain the anger bottling up inside of him. Wanting to catch her off guard.
"You know why were here correct? Why I am in this body?" Yami questioned, trying to turn the tables. He still didn't answer, the grip on his staff tightening. "She loves you Jack. This harmless little fairy has had the hots for you since day one. Then little miss blondie-"
"You don't get to about at her." His voice was cold and threatening. A voice so scary to her that an unconscious chill of fear went down her spine. And a lump of guilt formed in her throat, god damn this body. Yami quickly pushed the feeling away, whipping her head to the side.
"Elsa-" a shard of ice flung pass Tooth's wing, clipping it as it nearly tore in two. She hissed, putting her hand on her shoulder where the pain had erupted too. Looking at Jack with bewildered eyes. His hand pointed in her direction as his eyes warned: "I told you". She clenched her teeth; eyes burning with a ravenous gold. "You started all of this! If you had loved Tooth instead of that Frozen bitch we wouldn't be in this mess."
"No," he spoke with the underlining fact. "Tooth had done her job as a guardian she would never have let you in in the first place."
"You hurt her Jack! You destroyed he-"
"She destroyed herself. If she truly cared for me she would have allowed me to be happy with Elsa. With my Elsa. She would have moved on and left all that jealous behind. Instead she dwelled on it and allowed you to take advantage of her. And now my fiancé is dead and I want to tear you limb from limb. I want to see the light fade from your eyes until there was nothing left."
She looked at Jack with shock and surprise. Her eyes wide from his vulgar attitude and haunting expression. Then, coming back to reality, she smirked and her eyes narrowed. There was more than one reason as to why she chose this body, as why she chose Tooth. It's true that the girl was weak, overcome by the darkness of jealous. Which in turn made her very easy to manipulate. The other reason however is that she knew the moment she was able to project herself her sister would know. Which then Haya would stop at no cost to stop her, sending the few guardians left. Sending Tooth's friends. And of course, being the moral guardians that they were, they would try everything to save their friend. Which also meant that death was off the table. Giving Yami her own little personal barrier.
"But you won't," she laughed manically. "You can't, she's your friend. Your sweet little innocent Tooth Fairy that gives money to all the little good boys and girls of the world. If you try to kill me, you'll kill her in the process. And moral guardians like yourself don't kill the innocent, villains do. Villains like me." She smiled smugly. Knowing that she had just pulled a fast one on him. Knowing that he couldn't touch her, not even lay a finger on her wittle head. She had driven him into a corner...at least...that's what she believed.
He looked down at his hand. His fingers tensing and loosening as he watched a little swirl of snow play in his palm. Slowly crystallizing into a little glass ball. And within this ball was a picture of Elsa. Smiling. It was more like a memory, watching her laugh and play in the snow. Seeing her mouthed the words "I love you Jack" before she blew him a kiss. Seeing her made him happy, missing her made him heartbroken. He sighed and crushed the ball in his fist. Hearing the breaking of glass as they laid in pieces in his hand. He uncurled his finger hesitantly. Watching the pieces rise from his palm and configure into a long slender dagger. A sheen of light going down the length of it, showing off it's sharpness.
"You're right. I can't kill you." He said, still looking at the weapon that hovered in his hand. Waiting to be released with the call of it's maker. Yami felt victorious, smiling with Tooth's lips as she believed she had the upper hand. "But that doesn't mean I won't beat your sorry ass to a pulp."
Her lips fell and the expression on her face became very amusing to the man. She flapped her wings, moving a few inches back as she was appalled. Surprised that the happy go lucky boy Jack Frost would make such a threat with his friend's life on the line. "You wouldn't," she called him out. Seeing if he was bluffing with an empty lie. He didn't respond, he was more serious than ever. "You can't!" She said in a demanding beg. "She's your friend! She'll get hurt!"
"She'll heal easily. It's you, you should be more worried about." He said coldly. All emotion evading from his voice and eyes as he looked upon her with nothing but cold hate.
She licked her lips nervously, coming up with excuses. Of facts that would sway him from his intentions. "What happened to your morals?! To your heart?! You would really hurt your innocent friend just like that?!" She was in disbelief, shock. He must be joking.
"My morals died with her. My heart shattered with her. Killing her was the worst possible thing you could have done." He was furious and the winds picked up with his anger. She began to slowly move back; inching back like a gazelle coming face to face with a lion. They stayed like that for two whole minutes. Eyeing each other, standing still as they wondered which one would make the first move. Will the lion pounce? Or will the gazelle flee for the hills? To flee or fight. Her eyes flashed with an unknown emotion and then, with the snapping of a branch, she ran. Diving up into the clouds and he flung the shard. Acting like a torpedo as it went after her. A distant hiss of pain erupting from the clouds as the shard got her wing. Sticking itself in the hem of her wing making her unable to use it comfortably. She looked over her shoulder, trying to flap the injured wing. A surge of pain going to her rotator cuff; it was too immense and her wing faltered from the pain. She was free falling. Collapsing to the earth as she helpless was pulled by earth's gravity. Crawling her hands at the sky. As if a sudden step or cliff would appear to save her. There was none and she kept falling down to the earth and snow. She quickly tried to think of something, anything that could save her. But her mind was too full of adrenaline and the fighting of control. Tooth was trying to get out, battling Yami for dominance. Mental Warfare. She was falling, rapidly and violently. Dipping into the trees, close to the forest floor. A fall like this would surely snap her spine in two, smash the skull into pieces allowing the brain to spill out onto the dirt. The world was flashing past her like a broken movie screen. Her body flailing helplessly in the air, this was it. And then...she stopped, hanging there like a puppet. As if someone had decided to taunt the strings before she shattered moments later. She looked around nervously, unknowing of the puppeteer. She was a foot above the snow covered floor, catching her breath. She hanged there effortlessly and then, with the sound of snapping fingers in the distance, dropping face down into the dirt.
"Ugh," she groaned. Wiping her face from all the snow and dirt. Spitting out a small twig that somehow got in between her lips. The crunching of snow erupted in her ear. Getting to her knees quickly before Jack towered over her. His eyes dark and narrow, holding a swirl of a tiny blizzard within his hand.
"You're not getting out of this that easily."
