Epilogue
The door shut with a gentle click, shoving her gloved hands into the pockets of her white trench coat. The winter wind blew a few platinum blonde strands loose from her tight bun as she looked up at the small white hill before here. She took a deep breath, fighting the tears as her black boots slushed in the snow. Climbing the hill as the movement of her black clothed legs kicked up the dress shaped trench coat that hugged her body tightly. Once she got to the top she was met with two iced sculptures shaped like royal soldiers. They moved like humans as they grabbed their spears and aimed to attack. Quickly she pulled her hand out of her pocket and swooshed it across her body. Making the guards cease their attack before they took a knee and bowed to their ever lasting queen, becoming sculptures once more. She smiled and moved forward to the two cobble gravestones before her.
She had created the soldiers to keep strangers away from this place, letting no vandals reek their havoc here. She sighed as she stopped in front of the two graves, getting a glimpse at the town of Arendelle beneath her. Her eyes following the blurry silhouette of a black Mercedes speeding through the streets as people wore modern clothing and talked on iPhones. There were a few glimpses of mopeds here and there as a cruise ship pulled into one of Arendelle's many harbors.
"Looks like time has finally caught up to us, huh?" She said to herself, ripping her eyes away from the town before she placed her hand on top of one of the grave stones. The wind blowing gently as her thumb stroked against the smooth cobble stone. Letting her hand fall to the letters that spelled out the deceased's name. Her finger tracing each line as melancholy laid heavy in her face.
Anna Dellen
A Great Queen, but a even better Sister
She closed her eyes tight, trying to fight back the pain as tears slowly trickled down her cheeks. She sniffled and with a flicker of her lashes she turned her attention to the other gravestone. She swallowed hard as her free hand found the other name, holding back a sob as she read it carefully.
Kristoff Westergård
A Great King and an even kinder Soul
That's when she fell to her knees and wept. Her hands remained on each name as she mourned their memory. They had died a long time ago, they died of old age a few centuries back, peacefully. They lived a life full of happiness and peace, left a kingdom for their daughter. They raised her well and always made sure to incorporate Elsa and Jack into the little child's life. In that time Elsa and Jack were never strangers to the people, but once Anna's and Kristoff's appearance began to be effected by age; the couple met their siblings in secret. Knowing that if the people saw Elsa still young and beautiful, they might claim something horrid. After their deaths, Elsa went back into the archives and erased every mention of her powers. Claiming that she died at the age of twenty with no husband or child, making sure she obliterated any possible artifact of the truth. Even though the royal records had no account of Elsa's powers or any mention of guardians... the people still remembered and before she knew it, she became a legend. A story that was passed down from generation to generation, remaining the same each time it was told, but losing it's validity with every new generation. A legend had became a myth, but a myth that didn't seem to die.
She sniffled back the tears, wiping her eyes as she sat back on her knees. She could feel their presence as if they were right here, comforting her. She felt Anna's familiar hug around her waist as Kristoff tenderly placed his hand on her shoulder. She held on to the feeling as long as she could, opening her eyes once she felt lonely again. That's when she noticed the red rose that somehow grew prominently between the two graves. Standing proudly as it's healthy red color contrasted beautifully in the white snow. With a gentle hand she caressed the flower, analyzing it slowly before her lips picked up into a smile. With out a second thought, she moved her hands on each side of the rose. Moving them up as she formed a translucent ice dome with a little decorative frost on the top. The rose was now protected, frozen for eternity as it represented the eternal love between the deceased.
"I told you I would visit at least once every year." She spoke to herself, standing up as she hugged herself. Clutching her arms tight as her eyes lingered on the two graves. "Looks like I haven't broken that promise yet, huh?" She began to cry again, but silently this time as a hand slid up her back and grabbed her shoulder. She relaxed into him, accepting his kiss on her cheek as his white hair ruffled in the wind. He wiped her eyes, catching the tears on his wedding ring hand as it got a glimpse of light.
"Jack," She choked.
"I know baby, I know." He kissed her forehead this time. Breaking contact from her as he kneeled. Paying his respects to the two as he had to fight the tears himself. Needing to stay strong for his wife before getting back to his feet. He grabbed her, holding her in a comforting hug before he himself got a glimpse at the modernized Arendelle. He sighed and turned his attention back to Elsa.
"Come on, we'll be late to Saraphine's and Pitch's one year wedding anniversary party." Jack's tone was melancholy as Elsa nodded her head in agreement. Taking one last look at her sister and brother-in-law before he took her hand. Jack leading her away as a pain filled smile graced her face. He opened the door for her, letting Elsa climb into the brand new white Mercedes before shutting the door. Jack quickly ran around the front of the car and took his spot in the driver's seat. He turned on the car and began to make his way down the mountain. Without a second thought Elsa pushed a button which made two lazer shooters come out on each side of the car. She then flipped a switch and a beam of light came out of each of the shooters. The beams stopped five feet away as they exploded into a portal as the shooters folded back into the car. They drove through the portal and ended up in the busy streets of New York City.
It was night time, streets were lit up with intersection lights and electronic billboards. Elsa grabbing Jack's hands as her eyes beamed over every movement, every spark, she even loved the endless honks from restless cars. She took a deep breath and smiled.
My name is Elsa Frost. I am immortal, a guardian along with my husband and our friends. We were created to protect children, to protect the world as we know it. We saved the world before and we will save it for the rest of time. You don't know us, you may not even be able to see us. But...all you need to do is believe in us and we'll be there.
