Bond of Sisters

Even in a time of celebration, my mind still can't rest easy. I chuckled, I guess you taught me well...didn't you? I thought as I looked up at the portrait of my parents, feeling the tears pull at my eyes. No...you taught us well. Even when I had to go off and save the world, your youngest daughter held the fort. She endured the challenges and the responsibilities of having the crown, she has done well. But...do you think she can accept what I'm going to ask of her?

It's been a month since we came back to Arendelle. Occupied with preparing for Anna's wedding while my own engagement ring hugged my finger. I couldn't help but smile from the thought of my little sister getting married. Thank god it's a man who actually loves her and not one she saw at first sight. I rolled my eyes, disgusted at the thought of Han being my brother-in-law instead of Kristoff. Dodged a bullet there didn't we, I laughed to myself.
After saving the world I was recognized as an official (actual) guardian, immortal and unchanging. Me and Jack were rewarded with a place that we could call our own which we plan to move into once we get married. Haya destroyed Yami's shadow so it couldn't hurt anyone else while Pitch and Saraphine try to make a new seal on Yami's prison. Making sure she has no contact with the outside world ever again. Making sure that things like this will never happen. After that they plan to move in together and spend their days in bliss. Though I recently heard a rumor that a proposal was on the way. I hope Saraphine picks me to be her maid of honor, I thought with a chuckle. After the battle Tooth and I laid our quarrels to rest, though we still can't seem to get over that awkward barrier of "oh, you tried to kill me". I've already forgiven her, but she can't seem to stop beating herself up over it. Poor girl...we misunderstood each other the moment we locked eyes. I wondered how things would have been if we had became instant friends. I wonder how things might have been if...if I haven't met them at all.

It would be a very sad life if I haven't.

The moment we separated Yami's shadow from Tooth the spell broke and the other three Guardians went back to normal. Though dazed and confused, we had a lot of explaining to do in order to catch them up. Of course we're all friends again, despite them pouting that we kicked their butts. North went back to his toys, Sandy his dreams, Bunny his eastern island, and tooth her fairies. Alls well as ends well...is what I want to say. But of course the thought wouldn't dare slip from my lips. People like us...beings like us do not get a happy ending. Don't get me wrong there's a time where there can be nothing but happiness. But...we're always waiting for when the world needs us again. For when the world needs the Guardians to keep it in check. We always have something to do before the happiness can begin. And I...still have one more thing left to do.

I sighed and continued my way to Anna's room. Peeking in from the hall as the maids helped her slip into the white gown. She finally decided on a traditional white, princess-style wedding dress. The sleeves puffed at her shoulders before contracting back at her arms in ruffles. A tight corset hugging her slim torso as it was decorated in pink ribbon that started in a criss-cross pattern right below her chest. The dress blooming into a large bell around the hips with white lace adorning the undercarriage of the dress. Her hands were adorned with lacy white gloves that went all the way up to the middle of her forearm while ginger hair was left loose with spring flowers threaded into it. White pearls pierced her ears as she decided to leave her neck bear of any jewelry. A maid coming up from behind with the crown on a pillow.

"Where shall I place your crown your majesty?"

"Place it in my sister's room, she's gonna need it soon." She replied as she looked at herself in the body length mirror before her. Taking in every detail to find the littlest mistake to fix.

"That won't be necessary." I replied.

"Your majesty!" The maiden's bowing quickly once they noticed my presence.

"Elsa!" Anna turning to me with the loveliest smile I have ever seen.

"Please leave me alone with my sister for bit and leave the crown on the dresser." The maid with the pillow nodded and placed the crown on the dresser. Being the last maid to scurry off before the door was closed with a gentle click.

"Elsa!!" Anna screamed in joy before capturing me in a bear hug. A laugh escaping my lungs as I hugged her back tightly before pulling away.

"Let me get a look at you." My hands on her shoulders as I was left speechless by the dress she chose. "A dress fit for a Queen."

"Ahahaha, I'm no queen. Not now that you're here, you can finally take back your birthright." She said, walking back to the mirror as she puffed up her curls. I sighed as I watched her nimble fingers fix a loose flower, feeling a lump rise in my throat.

"Yeah..." I started, my voice shaky which caught Anna's attention. "I actually need to talk to you about that." I finished as I fell back into a chair. Sitting at a little table as I rubbed my forehead with uneasiness. Her lips speechless as I suggested that she take a seat. She did, sitting with a straight back and hands in her lap as I can see the look of fear slightly contorting her face.

"I..." I began before rubbing both of my temples. Is she going to lose her shit? "How do I put this? I guess I should just spit it out shouldn't I? I... I can't be Queen anymore."

Her jaw dropped and the look of astonishment erased the expression of fear. "W-What do you mean? You said that-"

"You said," I cut her off. "You said that once this was all done I would come back and take the crown. Right?"

"Well yeah!" Her voice was genuine, holding up her hands as if she held the air.

"Well I'm telling you that I can't take back the crown. Not now."

"Why not! Huh??? Why not!?" She was agitated. Scared.

"Because I died Anna!!" I finally admitted. Her complexion going pale from the bluntness of my words. "I died Anna and I came back...different. I'm different and you knew it the moment you saw me."

"I had n-" she began to object.

"You did! The moment I walked through those doors, the moment we locked eyes, was the moment you looked at me as if...as if..."

"As if what?" She was getting defensive, hands back down on her lap as they laid stiff.

I swallowed hard. "As if I was a stranger wearing your sister's face. You had recognized me but at the same time...you had no idea who I was. You had noticed the difference in me, the new surge of power that now defines me. Don't you dare tell me that you didn't see it, because I know you did."

She looked at me, looked down, then back at me again. "I did." She admitted. "I saw how much more powerful you are now. I felt it, I don't know how, but I did. Every fiber of my being knew that you weren't the same, but you're still my sister. This shouldn't change anything, you're still the rightful heir to the throne. You are still our queen."

"I told you, I can't be queen!" I was getting annoyed.

She stood up, infuriated. "Why not? Because of this new found power?? People have already accepted that you have powers! Why should this be-"

I grabbed her wrist. Stopping her mid-sentence before I myself rose to my feet. Looking down at her as I remembered that I was a few inches taller than her. "You didn't let me finish." She stayed silent, now knowing that there was more to say. Another secret to fill her in on. "I died. I came back. I became an official guardian, do you know what that means?"

"That you protect the world?"

"Yes, what else?"

"I don't know. You get some sick powers???"

"I'm immortal."

Her jaw dropped. "I-Immortal? L-like a vampire."

"More like a Greek god." I replied with a chuckle. "I don't age, I can't die unless I'm killed, and..." I placed my hand on my stomach, feeling a bit of sadness with the acceptance of my current state. "I can't have children. I can't give an heir to the throne."

She didn't know what to say. I was throwing so much information at her that it was even hard for me to follow. There wasn't much to say, but her fear made her say something.

"Well...if you're immortal there really isn't no need for an heir."

"Anna!!" I scolded her.

"I know, I know. Bad joke, but think about it. No mortal kingdom has ever had an immortal ruler."

"Anna!" I yelled at her. Placing my hands on her shoulders in hope I could make her see reason. "Immortal rulers become tyrants. Witches or warlocks that are remembered as a nightmare to their people. A folklore to scare little boys and girls so they would behave. What would the people think, what would history think of the queen who stayed young forever while her sister grows old. They would think that I was an evil being who stole her sister's youth in order to stay beautiful. A vile creature who stole youth from an innocent. I do not..." my hands held her face, staring deeply into her brown eyes. "I do not want to be remembered that way. I will not allow it. Besides, due to the fact that I'm an official guardian I will most likely be gone for months at a time. Who will rule while I am gone? What will the people think about having a constant change of power? What would they feel about the unstable system of governing if I'm on the throne? That's not fair to them Anna, it's not fair to you, to me, to anybody if I am on this throne. It's not fair and you know it."

She opened her mouth a couple of times, ready to begin a sentence but unable to get her thoughts into words. Which meant she found a rebuttal in every suggestion she was going to make. Finding herself driven into a corner with no where else to go, finally being faced with the acceptance of her fate. She looked at me, looked at her hands, and then back at me. "What do you suggest?" She spoke with a sigh.

"Become queen."

"What? No I can't-"

"You must! You are the only one. You're the next in line."

"I can't! I was never meant to take the throne. It's was always suppose to be you. I'm...I'm not strong enough or smart enough to run a kingdom."

"Anna, you are a perfect fit to run this kingdom."

"Why do you think that?"

"Because you are Anna Dellen, second to the throne, my little sister. You are the smartest, strongest, and most beautiful person I know. You are going to rule this kingdom with ease and be the greatest queen this kingdom has ever had. Do you want to know how I already know that?"

"How?" She asked as she shared the expression of a sad puppy being interested by a chew toy.

"Because you've already done it. I was gone for almost a year and you ruled this kingdom effortlessly."

"That's because I knew you were coming back."

"You and I both know that not the case. You would have done the same thing if I was dead. If I could never rule this kingdom again you would've still done it with the same success that you did while I was gone." She was still iffy to the idea, but I could see that I was slowly getting to her. "Anna...the people love you. They cherish your every word and seek your guidance in almost every little aspect of their lives. They trust you more than they had ever trusted me. So I'm begging you, please, for the sake of our kingdom, for the sake of our people, for me, please become our queen."

❄️ Play music: Beautiful Piano Love Ballad ❄️

We were in the main ballroom, the light hum of murmurs slowly dissolving as the wedding began. Each family and friend of the bride and groom sitting on separate sides of the aisle as I was given privilege to stand as the maid of honor. The room was adorned with white lilies on each column as sheets of white fabric looped from column to column before meeting in the center of the room. The white carpet clashed perfectly with the golden wooden floor as it lead up to the small man built stage where the vows were to be read. A small arch way of gold leaf and lilies over the priest as Kristoff stood idly by in a traditional white royal wedding suit. I was wearing the dress that Anna had picked out for me herself instead of the traditional wedding grabs. The dress was a deep violet purple and had a semi sweetheart neckline that started at my chest. The dress had a mermaid cut to it as it hugged my body tightly before flaring out into a narrow bell at my thighs. The little swirls of gold accent looked beautiful in the light as they climbed up the dress in a intricate way. My hair was pulled back into a bun as a hair piece of small violet flowers adorned my hair. I saw Jack sitting on Kristoff's side of the room gawking at me. Making me chuckle as my engagement ring caught the light just right.
Then there she was. Walking down the aisle with a boutique of white lilies in her hand and a smile on her face. She looked extravagant and you could especially tell that was true by the hanging of Kristoff's jaw. The boy better shut that thing before a fly flies into his mouth. My little sister is no longer a little girl anymore. She's a woman and a person who no longer needs my protection. Her eyes had left from Kristoff and went to me. We locked eyes and an immediate smile formed on her rose pink lips. I smiled too, feeling the pride of a sister, a mother, and a queen all flowing right through me. She looked so happy, she was happy as she took her place at the alter and stood before Kristoff. The two beaming as if they were two young kids in love. They...were falling back in love all over again as they looked at one another. They both let out a small tear of joy and the priest opened his book and began to read.
If someone said Kristoff and Anna weren't perfect for each other, I would say they were dead wrong. Growing up, my sister was always naive and maybe a bit too trusting in people. She had made a mistake with Hans and it had almost cost her her life. And then she had chosen Kristoff before I knew it, which made me extremely worried. I was afraid that her judgement of men and people was skewed. That she would always be easy to manipulate and even easier to hurt. But...seeing her now made me realized that I had nothing to fear in the first place. She learned after Hans and she became strong because of me. She became strong to save me out of love for me. She has grown in ways that I could never imagine and Kristoff is a great guy. One of the best actually, he helped my sister when no one else would despite his previous endeavors. He had put her first, a stranger, above everything else. He is as kind and as caring as she is, but I do believe a little bit more responsible. Oh god I'm gonna cry, I thought as I sneakily wiped away some tears. There is no doubt in my mind that they are perfect for each other because when they are together...miracles happen.

"Do you, Anna Dellen, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Asked the priest.

"I do." She replied without hesitation. Her golden wedding hand hugging her finger tightly.

"And do you, Kristoff Westergård, take this women to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do." He said with the biggest smile I had ever seen. His golden wedding band shining perfectly in the light.

"Then by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

Anna grabbed Kristoff's face and planted a big kiss on him. Giving him a little shocked expression before he wrapped his arms around her and held her tight. The crowd rose in applause and cheers, giving the couple's new found reunion a standing ovation. When Anna and Kristoff broke the kiss they couldn't help but smile and laugh before they looked out at the crowd. Kristoff was about to walk down the stage when Anna pulled him back, giving me the cue to say what I needed to say. The applause began to die down before I began to speak.

"Before anyone leaves, there is one more thing we must do." I slowly moved to where the priest once stood. He bowing his head before peacefully taking a step down to stand behind me. I looked out upon the crowd, seeing them slowly get confused as they became antsy. "As you all know, I've been gone for some time. Things happened and I have changed, I am no longer just your queen. I have become so much more than that and it's something that I could never tell you." I can feel Kristoff's confusion as he looked at Anna for answers. She placing her finger to her lips to ensure that he stays quiet. "This new me may not be accepted by you or by our descendants. I may even become a myth in our history, but that's not why I'm doing this. I'm doing this so you can have a stable ruler. This new me is demanding, it makes me leave my people for months or years on end. It's not fair to give you an unstable form governing. So it's with a heavy but proud heart that I am going to give up the throne and bestow it onto princess Anna." A gasp fell over the crowd and I could feel a light shift in the atmosphere. Kristoff's jaw dropping opening as his eyes looked from me to Anna.

"But your highness-"

The people began to protest, but I placed my hand up to cease their objections. "You trust her more than you will ever trust me. You seek her guidance in everything little thing you do. Which is good, it lets me know that I am leaving my kingdom, my people, in steady, reliable hands. My sister will be the best Queen you ever had for she is kind, caring, and brave. I trust of my life and so should you."

"But my Queen," a small child spoke. Standing gently on his mother's lap so all could see him. "Will...will we still see you? Everyone missed you terribly while you were away, please don't leave completely."

"Yeah! Please don't our Queen, we need you."

"We love you."

"Please still visit."

I was shocked and overwhelmed as I felt this warmth in my heart. The people had accepted my decision, but they still wanted to see me. I was surprised when they said they missed me so much. I was surprised that they loved and cherished me just as much as they loved my sister. I always thought Anna was the people's favorite, now I know...they loved us equally as if we were their own children. I put my hand up again and with a smile said, "of course you will." The atmosphere had changed back into the joyous moment it was before, a sea of smiles looking back at me. "Now please, bring the royal orb and scepter." I requested as I gestured to the maid at the back of the room who held the royal items on the turquoise pillow. She rushed to the front of the room before gently handing off the pillow to the priest. The two greeting each other with a slight bow as it was my turn to take a step back. The priest taking his original spot between the two people he united in matrimony.

"Your highness," he spoke to my sister. Gesturing her to take the scepter and orb in her hands if she were going to accept this honor. She looked at me, hands steady at her side as she waited for my answer. Wanting to make sure if this was what I really wanted, if I was ready to give up our birthright. I smiled and nodded, having no regrets of the turn of events that were before me. Anna smiled in reply before turning back to the priest, bowing her head to the priest's protege so he could place the crown on her head. She stood back up before she took her white wedding gloves off slowly, the crown glistening beautifully on her head. She let her gloves fall onto the pillow between the orb and scepter. Her nimble hands clutched the items in each hand, holding them with confidence and absolute pride. She turned to her people and the priest began to say the ancient words that initiated a royal monarch as ruler. Anna stood with her head held high as the priest uttered the last word.

"I now like to introduce Anna, Queen of Arendelle. And Kristoff, King of Arendelle!"

The crowd roared into a thunder of cheers and applause. Smiling and clapping as they chanted their new ruler's names. Filled with the outmost joy as I couldn't help but join in the celebration. My hands clapping furiously as Anna placed the orb and scepter back onto the pillow. She looked up at me with the biggest smile as she could fill my joy a mile away. My lips mouthing the words

'Thank you'.
