Negotiation With A Rat

πLogic's P.O.Vπ

It took a few days to get back on my feet. Morality was right, he did try to keep me and Roman in bed. He was also right that neither of us wanted to stay in bed.

Virgil helped us out. He continuously told Morality that we needed to stretch and he needed us to stand so that he could change our bandages anyways, which is a total lie, he knows we can do it on our own.

Today we're planning on finding Roman's brother again. Though, it might not be the best time.

Nobody knows how the villagers have treated him, nor if he's even still in the village. Right, that's another thing. Virgil went to see how the process of remaking the village is going. It's a lot smaller, but they've managed to make a few tents for a hospital and some houses.

Virgil wasn't able to stay for long, because of his anxiety, but he said he saw the Duke. I'm assuming that's Roman's brother. He also said they call him The Duke. Wonder what that's about.

I roll over onto my side and face Roman. He's still in my room for some reason. Virgil said something about not wanting to go back and forth between our rooms.

After watching Roman for a while, I come to the conclusion that he's slightly transparent. That's odd. I wonder if that has to do with the whole time travel situation, or is it the lack of doing his job?

"Hey Logic, is Princey awake?" I look over at Virgil and motion him closer. He comes towards the bed and watches Roman closely. We watch as Roman slowly becomes less transparent, only to go back to how he just was.

"What the hell?!" I look back at Virgil and he looks a little scared. I mean I don't blame him, this is probably terrifying for him to see. Especially if we need Roman for the video.

If Roman disappears then we won't have him for the video and we won't be able to get Virgil back. In fact, if we lose Roman, then Virgil will be stuck here.

"Try to stay calm. I'm sure everything will work out fine. Once you get back, everything should reset."

Virgil nods and I wrap my arms around him, pulling him close. I can feel him shaking.

"Does that mean we won't remember any of this?"

"I'm afraid so." He buries his face in the crook of my neck and I start to rub his back. I don't know if he'll forget, but it won't really matter.

"Come on now, let's go see the Duke." With his help we manage to get back to imagination. Most of the houses have been reduced to ash, but there's a few small tents not too far away.

One of the tents were made into a hospital. The biggest tent. There aren't that many people in here, but there is one that stands out more than the rest.

A man in a loose green T-shirt and black jeans. He has bandages wrapped around his arms with a pained expression. He's sitting up on a mattress, which I believe is their version of a hospital bed, picking at his nails and biting his bottom lip. He has silver eyeshadow completely surrounding his eyes and a drawn on mustache.

"Duke. We need to talk." Virgil's attitude just changed completely. Do they have some sort of history that I'm unaware of?

"Oh, my old friend! So good to see you again! Tell me, how are the others treating you this time around?" Virgil growls at the Duke and I look between the two. They must have some history. The Duke seems to notice me and he gasps.

"Well pardon Virgil's rudeness. They do know your name, right?" I don't know how to feel about this. What does he represent anyways? There's this sinking feeling inside me as I watch this interaction.

"You're lucky he does. Now, I need to talk to you. I have a... situation, that I need your help with. It might be a while before we start, because of your condition, but this is really important." Duke smirks and looks around.

"Well, I don't see a reason for me to help you."

"Do you see a reason not to?" There's this tension lingering around. I don't think this is very good. At this point I doubt Remus will help us at all.

"Other than the fact that I'm in a hospital, I don't owe you anything, you abandoned me, I have work to do, and I hate your guts?"

"Says the one who left me in a cage for 2 weeks with nothing to live off of but whatever Deceit gave me" When did this happen?

"I had no reason to keep Prince Not-so-Charming alive but I did. You do love your brother, right?" I thought Morality was the only one who knew. Oh, of course. Morality would've gone to Virgil for assistance. There's no way he could've carried both of us out of there.

"Of course you had a reason. You have to keep Thomas safe, it's your job. If you didn't save him what would it mean for Thomas?"

"You love him. Yes or no?" The smile on the Duke's face faltered.

"Yes... I know I don't act like it but, he is my brother. It's an unspoken agreement that brothers have to love each other."

"Well then you'll do this. For him. He's fading out of existence and if I'm correct, then I know how to help him. But I need your help."

He looks between the two of us. I don't know why he was ever shown to Thomas in the first place.

"Logic, you've been quiet. What's on your mind?" He's trying to get the attention off of him. I don't really think he wants to do this. Yet right as he said that, I forgot everything.

"Uh, I don't know. I suppose I haven't been paying attention. I do suppose you both have come to an agreement, am I correct?" I watch them both nod and I smile.

"Perfect. I know you're aware how, so in three days come to the mind palace."

"Two days." I look to Virgil and see him glaring at me. I was hoping for a bit more time to get everything set up but if he requests it to be sooner, so be it.

"Fine. In two days come to the mind palace. This will lower our chances of success but not by much." We'll have to manage to get Deceit on board, make the script, and make sure everyone is okay with all this within two days. With Roman's condition I suppose it is better to get this done quickly. Without Roman we most likely won't get too far.

"Alright. Then we're done here. Now time for the snake."
