A Lovely Night
¥Thomas's P.O.V¥
I walk down the stairs, careful to be quiet. I go into the kitchen and light a candle. The darkness in the kitchen replaced with the dim light. I fix myself a small glass of water and take a Tylenol. My head and chest have been hurting for around an hour. I don't know what's going on but I don't really feel the need to find out. I blow out the candle and the darkness returns.
I walk to the front door and go outside, taking in the cool air and feeling the cold pavement against my feet with every step. I feel a wave of calmness wash over me as I blankly walk down the street. Eventually I find myself at a clearing, laying down looking up at the night sky. The grass rubs against my skin, making me feel calmer. Nothing could go wrong right now. As long as I'm here.
I hear someone jogging up to me, yet I continue to lay down and relax. They sit beside me and I turn my head to look at them. I can't quite see them, but they have a glow-in-the-dark necklace on.
"Hey Thomas! What are you doing here?" I recognize the voice as Joan and I wave at them in greeting. They look confused before laying down next to me.
"So.. You wanna answer me or what?" They give a small chuckle and I force a smile. The pain in my head dulls a bit but my chest starts having spikes of pain at random, making me feel slightly nauseous
"I dunno. I just went for a walk and ended up here." I turn my head back to look up at the sky. The stars shining bright up in the sky and providing the perfect amount of light.
"Well why'd you go for a walk? And what are you doing up so early?" I look at them and can see the amount of confusion even in the dim light. They look a little concerned. I am too, but only slightly.
"I don't know.. It's just... I woke up and something just felt off, you know? I went for a walk to try to clear my head but I can't really think straight right now." I raise my hands to my head and rub my eyes, which only makes my eyes hurt a bit.
"I can walk home with you if you'd like." I sigh and get up, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over me. I yawn and look at Joan, seeing them yawn as well.
"You could stay the night with me if you want" Joan checks their phone and looks at me. They give a small smile and pats my shoulder.
"I'd love to Thomas, but I have to go home so I'll have a little bit of time to get ready for work." I nod and we start walking towards my home. While walking I start to feel sick, so Joan ends up with their arm around my waist and my arm wrapped around their shoulders.
We get home and the second they let me go I start to fall. I don't really understand. The only explanation is that I'm sleep deprived but I've been getting plenty of sleep. It's just tonight that I haven't gotten sleep.
They end up bringing me to my room and laying me down in bed. I look up at them and give a small smile. They smile back and wraps my blanket around me. They walk out of the room after turning off the light and soon I hear the front door closing.
Normally they'd stay a little while longer and talk with me, but I feel like they know that something is up and would rather have me sleep than talk. I get comfortable and wrap the blanket around myself tighter. I yawn and close my eyes, falling asleep soon after.
I wake up and sit up, feeling less tired. I get dressed and leave my room, walking down the hallway and then down the stairs. I get to the couch before my legs give out on me. I quickly grab onto the arm of the couch and pull myself up, starting to pant.
I pull myself onto the couch and lay there, questioning what was happening. I start thinking about what is going on and I try to convince myself that everything is ok. There's nothing wrong. I'm just a little out of it right now.
The room turns to a dark gold and there's an odd aura. I don't know much about that type of stuff, I just have a bad feeling.
I walk around, going into the kitchen I see a snake on the counter top. I freak out a little before realizing. I'm in Deceit's room. Wow it's warm in here. So all I have to do to get here is lie to myself? Ok then...
I walk upstairs and the hallway floor is covered with snakes. If I counted correctly, there seems to be around 16 snakes.
I try walking to my room, avoiding the snakes as I walk. I stop and look behind me, seeing the snakes follow me. I keep going and open the door to my room, seeing Deceit passed out on the floor.
There's about 5 snakes surrounding him and 1 snake on the bed, plus the 16 snakes behind me. I walk up to Deceit and the snakes move out of the way. I pick Deceit up and lay him down on the bed after that one snake moves.
I feel his forehead and have to retract my hand almost immediately due to the amount of heat. He has a fever. Is it even supposed to be possible for the sides to get sick? I guess it is hot in here.
His eyes flicker open and he looks around before his eyes land on me. He jolts up and presses his back against the wall. "It's ok! It's me, Thomas." He gives me an 'oh no, really?' look. He sighs and relaxes a bit, letting out a yawn that turns into a coughing fit.
This might be why I was having trouble walking earlier. He looks up at me and groans. "Don't. Even. Think about it."
I force a small smile and check his temperature again. He looks at me, obviously a little mad. "Hey Deceit, is it possible for you guys to get sick? Aka, are you sick?"
He rolls his eyes before looking at me again, pulling his knees to his chest. "I'm fine, and yes, we can get sick."
He isn't talking with a sarcastic tone, so I believe him. Even though he isn't fine. I guess he's just telling himself that. "Alright. Do you want the door closed or nah?"
"Just close it a little bit, not all the way so my snakes can come and go." I nod and go to the door, closing it slightly. I walk back to Deceit and look around, seeing all the snakes forming a circle in the corner.
I'm not exactly sure what to do, so I just sit beside him and let him lean up against me. I wrap my arm around his waist and after some time his head is in my lap, him being fast asleep. I'm petting his head while leaning against the wall.
I hear a footstep outside the door, and apparently so does the snakes. They all rush to the door, ready to strike.
Word count- 1258
(update 1 is complete. I didn't change much because I kinda like how this turned out.)
