Chapter 20

READER'S POV

"I see, so you know about Leila's Dark Triforce."

I said to Zoey who had just told me that Leila had stopped by to get something from Vaati and how she frightened her. Zoey nodded her head and she then said to me.

"I've never known anyone who can possess such power aside from Ganon...it's almost frightening."

I noticed Zoey was still shaking after she spoke to Leila.

"How can you withstand...someone who is strong than you? ...especially if they have the power of the Dark Triforce?"

I sighed a little and I then said to her.

"I'm able to withstand my stupid sister's powers but that's only because we used to train together when we were kids but, let me tell you something now, people like Leila, Ganon and other evil people in this world, they'll do whatever it takes to bring back the destruction and chaos that once came to Hyrule and the only thing we can do is to find the courage within us and not be afraid of them."

Zoey was surprised by this and she then said to me.

"How can I be brave like you?"

"You'll just have to find out for yourself and the same goes for the others, I already found mine a long time ago when my village burnt down and I swore to myself that I won't be afraid anymore and I'll keep a hold of that fighting spirit that my Father taught me years ago."

Zoey was surprised when I said this and she then said to me.

"I see, no wonder you were able to put with this crap for so long."

"Exactly, for now, don't let Leila's comments or her power bother you just concentrate on your duties for now."

"You got it, see ya."

Zoey said before she left the training grounds. I frowned a little and I thought to myself.

'Leila loves to scare people and she's even trying to get to me, rubbing in the fact that I'm stuck here as a slave, speaking of which...'

I looked over my shoulder and I watched Dark Link kneeling down to Serana's grave. I couldn't help but feel bad for him and I also felt bad about saying those things to him before.

'In some ways, I kinda feel bad for saying those mean to him saying that no one will love him or how Serana would feel about him hurting other slaves, I guess the wounds in his heart are still fresh.'

I then remembered about his and Ghirahim's conversation from before and I also remembered Vaati telling me that I'm the only one who can help him. I looked at some of the flowers that Sakura was picking and then I got an idea.

"Hey, Sakura."

"Hm?"

"Mind if I use some of those red roses, I want to pay my respects to Serana and her child."

"OK."

Sakura made a bouquet of red roses and I then walked over to their graves. Dark Link continued to stare at them and he didn't even notice that I was standing behind him. I sighed quietly before I placed the bouquet between Serana and Rachel's grave. Dark Link looked at me surprised and he then frowned a little and he said to me.

"What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to pay my respects and I also wanted to make up for the things I said to you before."

"Tch, do whatever you want..."

Dark Link looked away from me and then he looked at the gravestones and I could tell he's living a fond memory. I knew things were still a bit tense so I decided to tell him about how I lost my family.

"You know, I never really did tell anyone what really happened that night when the tribe was attacked or how Leila and I used to get along well when we were kids."

Dark Link was listening but he wasn't looking at me so I decided to continue anyway.

"I still remember like it was yesterday, Leila and I used to be a pair of troublemakers, this one time, I dared her to put a frog in Dad's soup and when he finally fell for our little prank, he was raging with anger and then he chased me and Leila around the village, he was like a monster to us at the time as well."

I said with a smile and I could see Dark Link was trying to hold back a smile.

"But, those days of pulling pranks and training together are nothing more than a distant memory, one afternoon, Father was testing us to see who was worth being the next leader of the Sheikah tribe so he picked me and Leila, we fought against each other for a while and I knew Leila was trying so hard to hold back her powers and I could tell she was trying to impress father at the time as well."

I clenched my fist tightly as I remembered how Leila and I fought against each other like that back then.

"Once I finally knocked her down to the ground, I was going to be declared the winner until Leila's anger got the better of her and then she used her shadow binding magic on me and right when she was about to finish me off, Father stopped her in time... after our test was over, Father picked me to be the next leader, I was glad at the time but, I had no idea about the danger that was about to occur that awful night."

Dark Link looked at me and he was listening to me properly this time.

"That night, Leila suddenly left the tribe, I couldn't understand at the time until Father told me that he banished Leila to exile... we were talking about how I was supposed to lead the tribe in the right direction and he also told me to do whatever it took to protect the tribe but then the next thing I knew, my uncle came into the house and he started shouting 'chief! dark forces are coming! Ganon is coming for us!' we both knew right then that spelt trouble."

A gentle breeze blew and I could still remember hearing the sounds of my people screaming in pain and the sound of the houses burning as well.

FLASHBACK...

EIGHT YEAR OLD READER'S POV...

Father and I got outside and we were both shocked when we saw some of the shadow beasts attacking our people including women and children. Father looked at my uncle and he said to him.

"Deric! go and warn the queen about this and hurry!! we haven't got time!!"

"Yes, sir!!"

My uncle got on his thoroughbred stallion and he managed to escape. Father looked at me and he said to me.

"(Y/n), I want you to get out of here as well."

"No dad I'm not leaving you! I want to protect the tribe as well!"

"Sorry but this time, it's far too dangerous for you."

I shook my head for a no and then someone shouted.

"Someone help!! Leila is attacking!!"

I looked over my shoulder and I was shocked to see Leila, my own sister merging from the shadows and she held onto a dagger that has got blood on it. I was shocked when I saw her and then Father said to her.

"Leila, you traitor!"

"Traitor? me? oh no, I was exiled remember, father? you didn't want me, you want my pathetic, weakling sister of mine to be the next leader, I wanted that position but oh no you and the other tribe members cast me aside like trash like if I was nothing!"

Father frowned and he then shouted.

"I told you that dark magic isn't the answer to everything and yet you still ignore my warnings and you now decided to side with the one person who is supposed to be our enemy?!"

"Exactly right!"

Leila chuckled evilly and I didn't know what to do at this point since this was my first time feeling betrayed by the one who you loved and cared for in this world. Father shoved me aside and he shouted.

"Go! get out of here now (Y/n)!"

"But what about you?!"

"I'll deal with Leila and these monsters, sorry, but it looks like I won't be coming back home from work this time (Y/n), remember to always keep your head held high and never be afraid no matter what gets in the way."

I started crying and I nodded my head before I took off running. I look over my shoulder and I watched how Leila used her dark powers and then she stabbed Father in the chest. I looked in front of me as I ran and ran through the forest with tears spilling out of my eyes.

FLASHBACK ENDS...

"I didn't just lose my old man that day...I lost my home, my best friends, my family members and the sister that I grew up with before she turned into this monster..."

I said as the gentle breeze stopped blowing. I looked at Dark Link and he was a bit shocked when I told him this.

"So you see, you're not the only one who's feeling angry at the world, I am as well."

"Why would you? I mean you've got those friends with you don't you?"

"True but, I haven't forgiven Leila for what she did to the tribe, that's why even now we continued to have our fights whether she's using the dark Triforce or not."

I clenched my fist tightly and I then said to Dark Link.

"Now do you understand why I've been desperate to get the hell out of this place? those girls who I call my friends, they're like sisters to me and so was Cleo, I already lost one sister and I'm not about to lose any more of them."

Dark Link smirked at my confidence and he then said to me.

"Did anyone ever tell you, that you're a bit cocky half of the time?"

I frowned at him and I said to him.

"No, well, maybe a little from Zoey but does it even matter? I mean won't you do the same if Ghirahim and Vaati were in our positions?"

Dark Link thought for a moment and then he said to me.

"Well, Vaati? yes, Ghirahim? a definite no, the perv is so annoying and he likes to annoy women way too much."

GHIRAHIM'S POV

"Achoo!!"

I blinked a few times after I sneezed. I rubbed my nose and then Katsumi asked me.

"Are you OK? you're not catching a cold, Ghirahim?"

"I'm fine, maybe some pretty girl is talking about me."

I said with a smirk making Katsumi sweatdrop.

READER'S POV

I laughed nervously when Dark Link told me this.

"Go figure..."

I mumbled and then Dark Link looked at the gravestones again. I could tell that he was starting to feel a bit better in some ways and I then stood up from the ground.

"Well, I've talked to you enough, don't stay out here for too long."

I said before I left. Just then, I heard Dark Link speaking up.

"You're not the only one who wants revenge."

I stood in my tracks and I looked at Dark Link and he continued.

"I knew something was bothering Serana, so I tried asking her what was bothering her but, she always told me that it was nothing..."

I watched as Dark Link stood up from the ground and he continued to stare at the gravestones.

"Serana told me that she was going for a walk to clear her head but I knew that deep down that something wasn't right, so Ghirahim and I followed her but for some unknown reason, she went deeper into the dark woods and that was when I lost sight of her."

Dark Link lowered his head and he started trembling a little.

"We searched for Serana, hoping that she and the baby were all right until we heard her screaming in pain... I knew right then that something was wrong, however, when we got to her it was too late, Serana was lying her own pool of blood..."

I was shocked when he told me this. I stood next to him and he then continued.

"Ghirahim left to get the healers and did what I could to make that she and the baby didn't die but...Serana wasn't going to make it, I still remember her telling me that we were going to have a little girl, at the last minute, we named her Rachel..."

Dark Link gritted his teeth to try and hold back his tears.

"I held her in my arms hoping that she was going survive along with our child but...once the Vaati and the healers found us it was too late...Serana had died from her injuries, Vaati did what he could to save my little girl but...Serana was only three months pregnant at the time, Vaati his best to try and save her but, Rachel was so small that she wasn't breathing nor moving for that matter...I didn't just lose my lover that night...I lost my little girl...*cries*"

Dark Link covered his eyes with his hand and then the tears began to fall out of his eyes. I rubbed his shoulder and I thought to myself.

'This is the first time I've seen Dark Link express his feelings like this... poor guy, I guess the hole in his heart is worse than I thought.'

"Hey, don't cry, Dark Link..."

Dark Link continued to cry so I wrapped my arms around him and I said to him.

"Shh... it's all right, let it out."

DARK LINK'S POV

I looked at (Y/n) as she hugged me and I didn't even bother to push her away as I returned the hug. (Y/n) patted my back gently so she was comforting me.

'This girl... she really is something else... Sheikah or not...'

I thought to myself as I hugged (Y/n) tightly.
