"Ah! I see! So you're one of those guys who hit on innocent maids in a cafe!"

The title may or may not be foreshadowing.

Here are the characters: (they are dressed in the outfits that they wear in the story unless specified not so)

Trixie

"People always see me and think, oh what a cute girl! I mean, seriously! Treat me seriously for once! I can find you wherever you run anyway!"

Works as a maid part-time and is a bit of a tsundere. Usually shy and innocent. Trixie is the product of an experiment that tampered with her genes which is why she has three abilities:

Photographic Memory: ... pretty self-explanatory...

Clairvoyance: X-ray vision. Eyes become outlined in silver when she uses it.

AIM Stalker (A Certain Magical Index): can memorize the AIM fields of espers and track them down; she can do this from a safe distance.

Trixie is constantly wary of any suspicious-looking guys that come in, because they usually try and hit on her because of her cuteness.

Wrath

"You're not really scared of me. It's just my power."

...so...he's smaller than expected...

He's forgotten his real name and nowadays is called Wrath because of his power. He has the ability to emit 'waves' from him that makes people scared of him. He likes to categorize his power into three levels:

Level 1: Mild scare, kind of the unconscious kind

Level 2: Normal, maybe a little more, like a servant-to-master scare

Level 3: Full-on rage. This one will not only make the people around him scared, will also let them feel his anger (he's usually only angry when he does this) thereby making them so scared they will surrender. Depending on the situation, experiencing these waves will make you relieve your worst memories or leave you scarred for a long time.

His parents left him at a young age because he was constantly scaring them and now works for the dark side of the city, doing missions and stuff.

So there are the characters!!

Now, on with the story!

----------------------------------------

DAY 1

Trixie POV

Sometimes, I seriously regret becoming a maid in a cafe. Sure, my boss was very nice and the payment wasn't horrible. And my fellow employees were some of my closest friends. Plus I loved my maid outfit that I got to wear.

The main problem was the customers.

Some were very nice and normal, but most of the time they were sleezy, no-good men.

I've counted 60 times some random guy drops in and tries to flirt, 70 times a guy comes in also randomly and tries dragging me off for some 'fun', and 30 times a whole gang of people came in to abduct me.

All of this happened over the course of my year of working here. It's ridiculous, honestly, but I usually just shrug it off.

Which is also part of the reason why the day a particularily suspicious-looking guy came in with a freakin sword by his side and sat down in a booth I was instantly on the wary side.

The cafe was empty that day, it was late in the afternoon so customers were a bit slow, so I was actually kind of surprised that he came in.

Before I made my way over, I quickly turned on X-ray vision to make sure he wasn't carrying anything dangerous. I gasped slightly when I saw the scars on his chest-they were thick, long, and looked very painful.

What had happened to him?

Wrath POV

Cafes aren't usually my thing. The only reason why I was in here in the first place was that I'd just finished a mission and was tired like crazy and totally sleep-deprived. Naturally, I needed to get a coffee or I was going to fall asleep on the job, which Boss would not like.

Fortunately, the cafe was empty, since it was late afternoon. I checked my watch. 5:00 p.m, okay then that made sense.

"What can I get you, sir?"

I looked up as a pretty female voice sounded. It must've been the only waiter here, at least for the moment. She had a cute ahoge sticking out of the top of her head and I got the strange desire to pat it down.

"A coffee," I listed off idly, not really thinking about my order. "Black with a hint of honey and maybe a little milk in a design on the top and a sprinkling of mint. Oh, and it'd also be nice if you gave me some of that cake, third on from the left on the counter case, and something to keep me awake."

She blinked, and I realized with a little jolt that it might've been too complicated. "Sorry, was that too-"

"It's fine," she cut me off briskly. "I'll be back soon."

It was only when she had left did I realize that she had carried no pad and pencil. I frowned. There was no way she could've remembered that, I was talking half-lazily and half-quickly, my words sort of slurred and I had certainly not enunciated. Ah, well. I just needed a coffee.

To my amazement she came back five minutes later with my exact order, sprinkling of mint and all.

"Will that be all?" she asked.

"How did you remember that all?" I demanded. "There's no way you could've done that without a pad."

Instead of getting an answer, all she gave me was an irritatingly sly smile and, "It's my secret."

DAY 2

Wrath POV

I came back the next day at the same time. "Oh, you're here again," the girl remarked drily.

I flashed a cocky grin. "Why, surprised?"

"Whatever. What can I get you?"

I listed off another complicated order. This time, she scoffed, "What are you, a prince or something?" before going back.

Again, I was amazed when she brought my exact order.

Just who is this girl? I wondered.

-------------------------------

DAY 3

Wrath POV

"You really want to annoy me, don't you?" she asked when I came back again at the same time.

"Maybe I do, maybe I don't."

"Humph."

Again I gave her an even more complicated order and she came back with the exact measurements. This time, though, she lingered a little. "There's something I don't understand about you," she said. "Every time I come near you I feel... um..."

"Scared?" I asked, scowling. Ugh, sometimes I hated my power. "You're not really scared of me. It's just my power."

"Interesting," was her only comment.

I poked my cake and it jiggled. "There's something I don't understand about you, either," I said. "You still haven't told me your little secret."

"I'll tell you if you tell me what's up with those scars on your chest," she replied coolly.

Instinctively I covered my chest. "How do you...."

"Clairvoyance," she said, tapping her eyes. "I always make sure my customers aren't carrying guns or anything before I serve them. In your case, I saw your scars. So tell me, where did you get them?"

"That's... dangerous information," I said.

"Cool, now tell me everything."

I cracked a grin. "No, I mean really dangerous."

In response, she waved a hand carelessly. "I've been assaulted and dragged off by guys over a hundred times. You honestly wouldn't think that I care anymore."

She's been assaulted and dragged off by guys over a hundred times? That was... disturbing.

"It was a childhood accident," I said eventually. "Simple as that. When I was small my parents threw me out and now I live with foster parents. Before I got adopted I tended to get into fights a lot." I touched my scars; three of them, slicing across my chest. "They healed eventually."

"Oh," she said. "Oh."

"It's really fine," I said. "That was a long time ago. Your turn now. Tell me your little 'secret'."

She sighed loudly. "Fine." she plopped down across from me. "I was part of an experiment that tampered with my genes. Therefore, I not only have Clairvoyance, I also have photographic memory, and-and so that's why I remembered your extremely ridiculous orders. Happy?"

"Very interesting," I mused. "Two abilities."

"Yeah, well, we have to close up, so get out."

"Rude."

DAY 4

Wrath POV (again)

Now that I knew the girl's secret, I was partially satisfied. "So why exactly are you still here if you get hit on by guys all the time?"

The girl propped her head in her hands. "Eh. Payment's good, fellow workers nice, plus I get to see a ton of people."

"I see," I said, frowning.

She reached across the table to tweak my nose. "Hey, what are you frowning for? It's fine, really."

In response, I tugged on her ahoge. "Not really."

She gasped. "Oh, my! Could you possibly be worried about me?"

"Shut up."

Our attention was diverted by the sound of the door opening and the bell jingling. "He-llo? Is anyone here?"

A young brown-haired girl walked in. A dazzling smile lit up her face when she spotted us. "Hi! I was worried you wouldn't be open, but here you are!" A moment later she apparently teleported herself, because she ended up sitting with the girl across from me. "I was supposed to go and get a cake for my friends-she wants to see how good these bakers are-but I suppose I can enjoy myself."

The girl nodded and stood up. "What kind?"

"Eh, just get all the ones that are good. Minny's gonna kill me for using all this money, but whatever. By the way, I'm Turtle." (A/N: Minny is her benefactor. Remember Turtle from the past chapter? Yes? Good. The friend she is buying all the cake for is Chardonnay.)

"Okay..."

"Photographic memory sure is helpful, isn't it, Wrath?" Turtle asked. She was idly twirling her fingers through the air and I watched as paper spiraled out of them and she twisted them together to create a miniature version of me before dispersing it.

Instantly I put my hand to my sword. "How do you know my name? And how do know her ability?"

"Oh, relax, buddy," she said, rolling her eyes. "I'm not here to kill you or anything, I'll give you that. And can you please stop emanating those scare-waves? It's getting tiring."

I blinked. I'd been sending out Level 2 waves without even realizing it. I usually didn't give out my name to random people, so of course a random girl who pops in, looking barely 12, and immediately addresses me like we were old friends worried me a little!

Then a different, much more important fact struck me. "How are you not trembling?" I demanded. "Everyone who experiences my Level 2 waves trembles, powerful or not."

Turtle blinked at me. "Oh. They don't affect me. Magical bloodline enhancer, blah blah blah."

"How?" I insisted. "That's..."

"Impossible?" she filled in, raising one fine eyebrow. "Yeah, as if that word hasn't been used to describe me a million times in my life. Go ahead, exert your full force on me."

I stood up. "Fine, I will." I felt kind of guilty as I did this, but I let my Level 3 waves flow out anyway. I saw as they hit Turtle, and she... absorbed them? She didn't seem affected in the least.

Then I heard a gasp and the sound of something crashing to the ground.

Oh no.

I whirled around and found the girl crumple to the ground, trembling violently, even more so when I  focused my waves on her. I stopped them as fast as I could. "Oh no-"

She stopped trembling, but when she stood up she couldn't meet my eyes. "I'm sorry," she said in a soft, tremulous voice. "I'll be right back with your order."

I dropped my arm to my side and sat back down. "Great..."

"You should go and apologize," Turtle said. "If you want, I can help. I have a very soothing mind trick that really helps."

"Go ahead," I said wearily, feeling very guilt-ridden.

Turtle vanished into the back room.

Trixie POV

What was that?

Memories that I had forced myself surfaced in my mind as my mother and father's voices rang in my head, pounding, again and again.

"Useless."

"Shameful."

"Imperfect, troublesome girl."

"Our tool."

"How dare you speak to us like that!"

"It wasn't my fault..."

"Don't give us excuses! We never should've had you!"

"Mama... Papa...don't leave me..."

"It's for your own good. The scientists will take care of you. And if you die we'll just have another daughter. One who's better and less of a monster."

"No... no!"

They screamed in my head, even after the waves stopped, and before I knew it tears were sliding down my face.

Why? Why had they left me?

Why?

Why?

I was distracted by the sound of the door opening. "Trixie?"

THIS IS NOT DONE, IT WILL BE FINISHED LATER BUT IMMA KINDA IMPATIENT.

Besides, it's my book, so whatever.
