Chapter 6: A Mind Shrouded in Darkness

It's time...
For another Author's Pre-Note!
This time, it's about the Fifth Wall. By now, you should know about the Fourth Wall, the special defence that prevents the characters in a book from seeing the audience. It's usually broken, mainly for a laugh. However, there is something known as the Fifth Wall. This defence separates the dimensions of the real world, and the story world, just like a barrier and prevents the two worlds from colliding. Unlike the Fourth Wall, it cannot be broken. At all. Just wanted to tell you all about that because it'll pop up somewhere in the story.
Oh yes. There are also spacing errors in the story. I was doing this on a discount-Word document, and for some reason, there were words that were joined together. I corrected most of them, but there may still be a few left.

                 ***********************

The brain is an incredible creation. Able to process 120 bytes per second, it is an extremely powerful organ. Humans all have brains, while monsters are slightly different. While there are exceptions, most monsters do not contain brains due to their unique differentiating structure. To compensate, their SOUL takes over the role of the brain. This is the reason why monster SOULS are always glowing even when they are not performing a task. This is also a result of why monster SOULS contain such high amounts of magic in them. However, both the human brain and the monster SOUL contain limits in terms of the amount of information it can process in a short time.

Considering the number of unbelievable secrets and truths that had been revealed in the short time span of about five hours, including the fact that their lazy, comedic skeleton was supposedly the saviour of the world, it wasn't surprising that it took a few minutes for the family to register the fact that the originator of magic was currently in their presence and talking to them via their skeletal friend.
Myriad gazed at them from inside the body of Sans. He hadn't planned on doing this. Actually, he hadn't planned on any of the events that had transpired. Speaking of which...
"I must apologise," Myriad spoke to the frozen crowd. "I know that it is ridiculously difficult to try and process the fact that the |self-proclaimed| God of Magic is currently speaking to you all in the body of a small skeleton."

"Oh, and the whole nightmares thing. That's on me." He added. The casual sentence didn't go unnoticed by Toriel, who was starting to recover slowly.
"Please hold on for a moment," Toriel pleaded, her initial shock lessening to the point where she could speak. "Are you claiming that you are the reason for us all having nightmares?"
The floating body of Sans nodded in confirmation. Needless to say, it was another log on the fireplace of unbelievable things. Alphys raised a claw to ask a question, but Myriad already knew what her question was.

"You want to know how I gave you all nightmares that you can't remember? Well, it wasn't hard at all. As you all know, I am the first magic source in history. Not to mention the greatest because of the whole 'infinite magic' thing."
Egotistical braggist
Shut up, you minutely decent author
Put a sock in it, Mr/Ms" Oh, I'm so cool because I have ALL the magic!"
You're lucky there's a fifth wall separating us, or I would give you a piece of my mind, along with the rest of it
Can I get back to my story, you infinite idiot?
Absolutely, Mr "Oh, I'm such a great author because I have an original storyline! "News flash: Nobody cares
I will end you
"Because of this, I have the ability to control the magic of a SOUL. Because of the fact that a monster's entire lifeforce is located in their SOUL, not to mention their brain, I could awaken old memories in you." Myriad paused at that, realising that further explanation was needed.
"Frisk and Flowey were a little different. One is a human, the other doesn't have a SOUL." Flowey shot him one of his withering glares, which Myriad skilfully ignored. "For Frisk, I used their SOUL and controlled its magic to access his brain, and as a result, his memories. For Flowey, I accessed the DETERMINATION in him, which contained everything about him."

Asgore raised a paw. "If I may ask a question?" Receiving a nod, he continued. "There is something that doesn't make sense. What do you mean by memories? And why did you give us these nightmares in the first place?" The others nodded with his statement. Myriad sighed, realising that he had gotten ahead of themselves, and knew the task that she now faced.
"You already know that Sans is hiding things from you all. What you don't know is that everything that you think you know about him? It's just the tip of the tip of the iceberg. No exaggeration."
"What are you saying?!" Undyne yelled in confusion. "Sans is hiding even more than what we thought?!"
"Exactly. However, there is something I can do to help."
"I know Sans, which makes sense considering that I live in him. He would never tell you the things that I am about to show you to protect you from your own minds. All the things he hid? He did it because he didn't want to burden you with them. It's not fair for him, the weight of the things he carries, but he accepts it, because he can't let anyone else take it out of pure selfishness for not wanting to see them in pain."

The minds of the family stopped at this. What did Myriad mean? What was Sans hiding from them? Papyrus couldn't accept that his own brother was in so much pain? He just couldn't! What kind of brother would Papyrus be if it was true?! Papyrus nearly panicked again, but a deep calm filled him, making him feel like he was being too harsh on himself, and that it was impossible for him to know. He looked up and saw the outstretched hand of Sans pointing at him. The blinding light in the eye sockets of Sans faced him, and Papyrus had to look elsewhere, feeling very rude for doing that. Myriad/Sans smiled at him, a genuine one that looked out of place but natural on the face of Sans at the same time.
You know what, to simplify things, I'm going to call Myriad-possessed Sans...
Myrians. An Asgore worthy name in my opinion.
Yeah well, your opinion is terrible and invalid
GET BACK TO THE SCRIPT!
"Papyrus, I won't lie, the things that you will see? It will be very hard to stomach, pun not intended."
Boo!
Now who's straying off the script?!
I am the author. Therefore, I am
Papyrus smiled weakly at that, grateful for the pre-warning. He then stopped.
"WAIT. WHAT ARE WE DOING?" Myrians smiled, one that had an air that said 'something not good'
"As you may recall, I mentioned memories. We're going to look at the memories of Sans."
Somewhere, a pin dropped again, not going unnoticed by anyone. Nobody felt like acknowledging it though.
"Before you go 'that isn't right' and all, and 'but we'll be violating his privacy', you need to see it. It's the best way to explain."
Not waiting for a response, Myrians grabbed the SOULS in the room, the DETERMINATION for Flowey. They all gasped before she extracted their consciousness from the SOULS. Placing the now limp bodies back into their beds, he gathered them all, summoning them into the SOUL of Sans.

Darkness. For a brief moment, it surrounded them. They tried to move, but paralysation grabbed them, rendering them unable to speak;
To hear;
To move;
To even think.
FEAR engulfed them, threatening to swallow them whole, to drown them whole. Then a warm, bright light penetrated the black, carrying Frisk towards it.
Frisk woke up first. Standing up, they could see the prone figure of their family. Shocked, they went to wake them up, but an unknown power pulled them away. Then it released them. Frisk turned and came face-to-face with Myriad.
By the way, point out that I change genders whenever I feel like it. The audience is probably feeling confused by that.

Myriad was pure energy, visualised to Frisk as a humanoid figure with female breasts. Frisk opened their mouth, as if to say something, but stopped as the energy started to strip away from Myriad, revealing her true form. She wore a Royal blue and silver cotton jacket, covering a Navy blue tank-top with ice-blue stars, the same colour as Frisk's eyes. Persian-blue denim jeans covered her lower body, with two different shoes on her feet; a Lapis-blue Nike on the left, and a Cobalt-blue Adidas on the right. Her hair was decently long, coloured Azure-blue, and flowed down to her hips. A mischievous smile was planted on her Ruby-red lips, and her mouth parted to show her pearly-white teeth and Crimson tongue. Diamond blue eyes sparkled brightly at them, enjoying the reaction. Sea blue fingernails protruded from her fingers, long and sharp. Her skin was a light Indigo, smooth and hairless, without a single hint of a wrinkle anywhere. Frisk continued to gaze at her in awe, and she giggled in a light melodic tone, filling the emptiness.

"Surprised? This is the Mindspace, where the imagination exists. Right now, it is empty, because Sans isn't imagining anything at the moment."
"Also because I have placed him in a comatose state and locked him away in a corner in his mind so that he doesn't try and interrupt, but that's not important."

Frisk looked very puzzled at that, then started to realised that Myriad wasn't someone who gave an answer easily. They turned their attention back to the others, who had started to wake up as well. Frisk looked relieved, then turned back to face Myriad to ask why she had prevented them from waking the others up. The question was lost in their mouth as they gazed at a gender-transformed Myriad.

The male Myriad had selected a goldenrod yellow and silver leather jacket, that was worn over a Tuscan Sun yellow tank-top covered in Lemon yellow stars as well. Canary yellow jeans covered his legs, with splashes of Tangerine orange on them. He also wore two different shoe brands on his feet; a Blonde Vans on the left, and a Blonde Converse on the right. Amber orange gloves covered his hands, which he used to smoothen his spiky Rose-red hair. He also had Ruby red lips that parted to reveal pearly-white teeth and a Crimson tongue. Sunshine yellow eyes focused on the adorable expression of the star-struck child. His skin was a Tiger orange, which was also smooth and hairless, with wrinkles being non-existent. He chuckled with a deep baritone, echoing all over the Mindspace.
"Weren't expecting that, were you?" He teased, before deciding to answer their question.
"I couldn't let you wake them up, because their minds have to adjust to the powerful Mindspace of Sans. It could be dangerous to their mental state if they were disturbed during the adaptation period."
By now, the others had fully adapted and were making their way over to the stunning figure in yellow. Undyne may have been a gay fish lady and Alphys may have been a gay lizard, but they had to admit that the figure looked hot, like an anime character. Toriel felt no such feelings, her romantic reservations immune to mere looks. Myriad knew this and smiled a bit more. Then it lessened, as he realised what his next task was.
"Obviously, I didn't bring you here just so you could gaze upon my glorious body. That's just a bonus." He then proceeded to explain about the Mindspace. He also noted that Flowey was still in his 'flowey' pot, so he snapped his fingers, allowing him to move wherever he felt like. Flowey was grateful for that, though he tried playing it off by acting like he didn't care. The usual. Alphys was amazed by that and went on to ask a lot of scientific questions about the Mindspace. Myriad didn't mind, as Time was irrelevant in the Mindspace.

Time passed. How long was known only to him. He wouldn't have minded doing this for a little while longer, but he knew that bandages are best ripped off quickly.
Or soaked in water for a while. But Myriad preferred the first option as it was faster.
"It's time." He spoke, his voice echoing all over. "We'll be going back in time. Back to an era of pain." He closed his eyes, then clapped, the air pressure from the sound waves pushing the family back a bit

.
All at once, the blank canvas of the Mindspace was painted with the scene of war. Collapsed buildings were everywhere. The dead bodies of humans hung limp on things, never to move again. On them, the dust of monsters was clearly visible and covered the battlefield. Papyrus shuddered at the sight. Undyne noticed, and grabbed his shoulder to remind him that she was there. He smiled, thankful for the support.
"The Infamous Inter-species War. The one where humans and monsters both fought for dominance. As you know, the humans won." Undyne scowled slightly at that. "These are the memories of Sans. However, we are able to view them in a 3-D style instead of a first-person style because of the magic in the air. It was a good thing that I had watched the war, though I chose not to take a side. I was able to manipulate the magic and cause it to act as a camera. Thanks to this, we get a Three Dimensional memory of Sans. Speaking of which..."
Myriad pointed a blue finger. They turned to stare at the direction her finger was facing. Five humans were engaged in battle with a monster. It seemed to be an even battle from this distance. Alphys seemed to be the only one not looking at the fight, and appeared to be searching for something else. Myriad noticed, and, knowing what she was doing, chose to answer.

"Looking for Sans? Well, I suggest you watch this battle first." He said calmly. Alphys blushed, realising that she wasn't being very inconspicuous. The group were at a good distance and were able to watch the battle a lot easier. Surprisingly, their earlier predictions were wrong. The humans were at a severe disadvantage. The five humans were all sweating from fatigue, though one of the females didn't look as bad. In their defence, their opponent radiated power. Even in memory, the others could feel the battle capacity of the monster. The monster, in question, was quite tall, just shy of Papyrus. Their face was covered in a metal battle mask, one very similar to Undyne's. They wore the battle armour of the Royal Guard, but it included a DeltaRune emblem marked on the front and seemed a lot sturdier. Their agility was amazing, and seemed to dodge the attacks gracefully, and only at the last moment as if taunting the human's slow attacks. Undyne's good eye widened in surprise but then decided that the thought she just had was too far-fetched. Still, it troubled her.

The monster was doing very well, despite staying on the defensive. The offensive onslaught shown by the humans seemed to be weakening. All of a sudden, the monster stopped. Then they took off the special armour, along with the helmet, and used magic to place it to the side. The audience gasped.
The monster was a skeleton and wore nothing but a long pair of pants, silver with a vertical black stripe running down the side. Toriel made a gesture to look away but was able to stop before she tried. She blushed inwardly, wondering why she had tried that. Now they could tell that the monster was a male. They didn't know how, but they knew. His eyes were filled with a calm silver glow, one that was almost hypnotising. Stranger still was his bones. Instead of being collagen-based, the bones were made of a metal substance, and that included his skull. He also had a smirk planted on his face, as if he knew that these humans were less of a threat to him than an infant. He had an aura of personality around him, one that said 'Give up while you can. I will win.'

"Is that steel?!" Undyne yelled, aghast. Myriad shook his head.
"Not steel; Titanium." Undyne's face was even more aghast hearing that.
The amount of power that would take, Undyne thought in her mind. The likeliness of her earlier suspicions seemed to rise, much to her dismay. Undyne wasn't the only one with suspicions, however. Asgore and Toriel had both been gripped by the same feeling of Deja Vu, as if they had seen this monster before, in an age long ago.
In the blink of an eye, the skeleton raised his left hand and immobilised four of the humans in a silver aura, only leaving the female who had taken the least amount of damage. Only Undyne and Myriad were able to track the impossibly fast movement. The skeleton then raised his other hand and pointed it at the female, whose face looked immensely distraught. One of the humans, a male, cried out to her and pleaded to the skeleton to leave her alone. He ignored him. A thin silver beam shot out from his hand, but instead of harming her, the beam seemed to restore something. That something was her magic. She looked very surprised. Then the skeleton spoke.
"Now then. I want you to hit me with your strongest attack." He commanded his voice a light baritone. The monsters stiffened, the voice sounding eerily like Sans's. The female looked confused, wondering if it was a trap.

"If you don't, I'll kill your companions painfully, one by one, then I'll do the same to you." He spoke, his voice sounded neutral, but there was an underlying tone, one of malice. It was enough for the female as she looked at the frightened faces of the others. Resolve sparked in her blonde eyes. Her hands glowed a bright Tiger orange and charged straight at the skeleton.
"Wait a minute!"Undyne suddenly yelled, understanding something. "The mystery skeleton guy didn't restore her magic to its maximum capacity because he wanted to give her a fighting chance, but more because he wanted to test something!" The monsters faced her, considering this theory while watching the outcome in anticipation. Using her magic, the female launched herself into the air, then rushed straight at Mystery. She landed a clean hit right in the middle of his ribcage, moving him back a few metres. For a brief moment, there was HOPE on her face. Then, as quickly as it came, it vanished, and FEAR replaced it. The velocity of the attack did indeed shift Mystery back, but it didn't leave a mark. If anything, it was the female who had gotten hurt from the toughness of the armour.

Undyne was awe-struck. Who was that guy?! And how was he able to use an armour that could withstand an attack of that magnitude?! Sure, that punch was weaker than one Undyne could throw, but that attack was still pretty strong! Then again, considering the power she had felt from Mystery, perhaps it wasn't very surprising.
The smirk widened, and the female started to move away. She tried to run, but the same silver aura surrounded her as well. She was moved to face Mystery. However, instead of the cocky smirk that she had been expecting, the smirk had been replaced with a sad smile, as if sorry for what he was about to do.
"Thank you. You fought well, all of you. Unfortunately, I cannot let you live. The world is too harsh to allow this." His words were calm, and the fearful expressions on the humans lessened to one of confused fear. Then understanding dawned on their faces as they realised what he was saying.
" I will make it quick and painless. Goodbye." His left hand started to glow with magic, so much so that it started to overfill. The excess magic surrounded the skeleton, causing a silver aura to engulf his entire body. This in turn caused his silver eyes to shine even brighter. The humans all had a face of grim acceptance. Before he fired, he released his hold, allowing them to share one last moment together. One final ACT of MERCY from him.
"Silver Flash Cannon." A huge wave of power erupted from his hand, roaring as it raced towards its enemy. One of the humans shed a tear and hugged another. It was, as he said, instantaneous. Not a trace remained. Mystery's silver eyes reduced in size until they were nothing more than grey pinpricks in his eye sockets. He raised his left hand and, snapping his fingers, caused an armchair of bone to materialize from the ground. He collapsed into it.
"Total kill count for today: 476." He noted. The metal on his bones retracted into his body until pure collagen bones remained. He sighed, then started making notes.

"Ironhide. That's a good name for it. Ironhide is composed of Titanium and is durable enough to withstand the strongest attack from a power-based human with the SOUL of BRAVERY. Although, from what I could make out, her SOUL only contained a small trace of the trait." He added as an afterthought. "Ironhide is also light, and only reduces my agility by 5%. I could rectify this later on with Silver Sorcery's best ability, but as of now, the technique is excellent. I should tell G that it worked. He's probably worried considering that I've been gone since the early morning. Heh. The worrybones. Not that he would ever show it."

The skeleton got up, preparing to leave, then stopped. He examined the bodies and the dust scattered across the battlefield. He halted, conflict evident on his face. Coming to a decision, the monster activated his magic, what he called Silver Sorcery, and caused the ground to rumble. Then, across the area, skeletal hands broke free from the ground, clawing their way to freedom. One appeared right in front of the audience, resulting in multiple reactions. Alphys jumped into Undyne's hands, while Papyrus jumped on her back. Frisk backed away and was met with the embrace of Toriel's hands, who had turned her death glare to the Infinite Soul for not warning them. Asgore was a little startled, but he maintained his dignity. The same couldn't be said for Flowey, who shot countless 'friendliness pellets' at the withered corpse. As expected, they passed it harmlessly. Myriad briefly considered tampering with the memory to make the skeletons turn to the monsters as a joke, then dropped it. That move probably wouldn't win him any popularity points.

"W-What's g-going on?!" Alphys stammered, looking immensely terrified. Myriad turned to her, then pointed a finger. The calming magic that he had used earlier on Papyrus infused into the others, restoring a sense of peace in them.
"The skeleton is summoning the undead corpses of humans long gone by using Necromancy, the magic of the dead." Myriad explained. "He is planning to give a burial to the humans who fought against him, for personal reasons and because they deserve it."
There were hundreds of the army, all different shapes and sizes. But they all shared the same trait of a blank face. The revived skeletons turned to face their reanimator. He closed his eye sockets and placed himself on the ground cross-legged.

"He's giving them a telepathic command," Myriad spoke, shedding light once more. "As I said, they are the skeletons of deceased humans. They can't hear him, so he is using telepathy to issue his orders."
The skeletons had been immobile. Then, a pinprick of grey light flashed in their eye sockets. They snapped to attention, and in a synchronized manner, saluted the stationary Mystery. Next to them, bone shovels materialised. In an orderly manner, they proceeded to use said bone shovels and dug graves for the humans. It was a haunting sight, the undead digging graves for the dead. The irony was not lost. A brief flash of exhaustion appeared on the face of the Necromancer. Myriad sped up the memory to the part where the holes were filled again, but with the bodies of the humans inside this time. Mystery was grimacing, the energy needed to sustain the revived taking its toll on him. Finally, he commanded them to return to their graves, and, once again under the soil, the skeletons returned to peace.

Mystery's eye sockets opened, and he fell on his back, unable to move.
"Urgh. Shouldn't have tried Reanimation. I hadn't used it since training, and even then, I only summoned a few." Mystery gasped, then took out something from one of his many pant pockets that surround the pants. Alphys moved closer to him to take a look at the object. It was a small crystal, silver in colour. To her surprise, she knew what it was.
"O-Oh my! It's a Magic Power Bank!" She exclaimed, startled. "I've heard of these! They were all d-destroyed during the w-war!"
"Magic Power Banks?" Frisk asked, wondering if the banks were like what they had assumed.
"Yes. Magic Power Banks are basically like Battery Packs. Essentially, you pour your magic into them, and they can contain it for a month or more! Their storage capacity is huge, able to contain half of a monster's magic. The only downside is that they operate on a single magic signature. In other words, they only work for one monster." As Alphys spoke, the silver glow that the crystal was illuminating started to decline. Mystery's face started to lose that earlier exhaustion, and when the silver had completely disappeared, he had gotten up, seemingly fresh. He stretched, causing all of his bones to make a satisfying 'popping' sound.

"That definitely hit some of the spots." He sighed in relief. "This little thing may not have enough juice to restore me fully, but it had enough for now." He gazed around again. Satisfied with his work, he readied his magic, then stopped in a hurry. Looking around, he spotted his armour. In a flash, he was standing next to it. He picked it up, with a sigh of relief. If he forgot his armour again, G would yell at him for being irresponsible and he'd be forced to listen. He then restarted his magic.
"Instantaneous Movement." For everyone, the environment had changed. Instead of being in a ruined city, he was in a large house, one not unlike the audience's current residence.
"Is it just me, or does this dump look like our dump?" Flowey asked Myriad, a sneer on his face. Clearly, he was still resentful about earlier.
"FLOWERY DOES RAISE A VERY VALID POINT MS MYRIAD. WHY DOES THIS HOUSE LOOK LIKE OUR OWN HOME IN THE REAL WORLD?" Papyrus asked, voicing the question that the others were wondering in a kinder way.
"It's Flowey, you brain-dead idiot." 'Flowery' muttered underneath his breath.
Good one.
Thanks.
"You'll see." Myriad responded cryptically.
"W-Well, what about Sans? You said that we w-would be entering his m-memories, didn't y-you?" Alphys pointed out. Myriad's face was full of conflict, wondering what to say. Finally, she decided on something.
"I did." She began simply. "You just have to wait and see."
Alphys was still bewildered but resumed watching.

"G? You here? If you're not, don't say anything!" Mystery called. In the distance, there was a 'crash' and the sound of shuffling. Then a skeleton appeared, looking bemused.
This skeleton was taller than Mystery. He wore a white lab coat that was filled with stains of different colours, some of which were giving off smoke. He wore formal black trousers that were also smudged with multi-coloured substances. His face was oval-shaped, and usually gave off an air of intelligence, although it was strangely absent at the moment. His hands were long and thin, not missing anything from it. Strangely enough, seven similar hands were floating around him holding spray bottles and aiming them at the stains. Whatever was in them, worked as the stains disappeared instantly when sprayed. One came a little too close to his face, and he turned around to shoo it off, revealing the back of his coat. On it, the DeltaRune insignia was printed. This time, Alphys was shocked.
"N-No way. It can't b-be!" Alphys stammered, clearly in shock. "That's the mark of The Royal Scientist!" Undyne turned to face her, unable to register what she had just heard.
"What are you talking about? I've never seen you with that mark on your jacket?"
"T-That's because I never w-wear it. It's sacred to me, so I stored it away. It has m-magic runes on it that protect it f-from wear-and-tear, but I still feel really scared wearing it." Alphys explained.
"But if so, then who is that guy?!" Undyne yelled, her question directed to Myriad. He sighed, and gestured for them to keep listening.

The skeleton's initial displeasure disappeared when he saw the newcomer. Now relief was on it.
"There you are! Where have you been?! You leave without telling me or leaving a note or anything! Do you know how worried I've been?!" The skeleton nit-picked, his voice speaking in an Alto tone. It was similar to Papyrus, but just a little quieter. Mystery raised a socket.
"Knowing you, you worried for a bit, though you pretended not to, then your wife tried to convince you that I'd be fine, but that didn't work, so you went down to your private lab to try and do some experiments in order to forget and relax. Then you either forgot or one of your experiments backfired on you. That would explain why you looked annoyed when you heard me at first, then you remembered and here we are." Mystery predicted. G smiled a little at that, knowing that he was spot on.
"Honestly." He shook his head, then snapped his fingers. The floating hands disappeared. He then took off his robe, scowling at it.
"It appears that I used the wrong Runes again. Doesn't matter. I'll do it later." For a moment, G's hands had a violet glow to them. Then the coat disappeared from his hands. He rounded to face Mystery, but he had already left, placing his armour on a nearby table. G wasn't letting him off that easily though.
Mystery rummaged through the cupboards for food. Next to him, G had appeared, using the same teleportation trick as him.
"I demand that you stay still and let me lecture you!" G yelled in mock fury.
"And why's that?"
"Because I'm the Royal Scientist, dammit, and I can do anything I want because I can!"
"If you're the Royal Scientist, then I'm the Captain of the Royal Guard."
Mystery shot back to the other, who only groaned. He opened his mouth to say something, but then a skeletal hand covered it.
"Calm down, Dings. You might blow a hole through the roof again."  A female voice commented in a joking tone. She spoke with a calm soprano with a level volume. Her face was also oval-shaped but radiated a joking personality. She wore a floral dress that swished as she moved. Most noticeably was the large bulge where her stomach would be.
"She's pregnant!" Toriel realised, her motherly instincts kicking in. She carefully examined her mental state and physical appearance, before a polite cough from Myriad broke her out of it. It's just a memory Toriel, she told herself. This has already happened and there's no point in figuring out her wellbeing.
Undyne studied her as well, but for a different reason. Her instincts were registering something suspicious. She could tell that the skeleton was being playful but wondered if there was something else. However, Undyne was unable to read anything other than what she was already showing. She's as good as Sans, Undyne grudgingly admitted to herself. She wasn't sure why she was being suspicious, but the feeling never left.
"That was one time Lucida!" Dings pleaded, but she just laughed, not unkindly. Asgore stiffened immensely at that name. That can't be, he thought to himself.
"Surprised to see you up." Mystery casually commented. Lucida however was able to pick up the hidden implication and huffed.
"I'm not going to let a little thing like pregnancy stop me!" She replied, then gazed at her large stomach fondly. The magical womb had developed about four months back after a night of passion with her husband. Needless to say, she was due any day now. Not that it stopped her from helping her husband with his experiments while she was off work.
"I told you not to take those personality changer tablets, didn't I?" She questioned, and received a guilty look from Dings. Understanding crossed Mystery's face.
"I thought they were painkillers! Why did I make them look like painkillers?!" He complained. Mystery was watching this with an amused grin. With a sudden movement, he had summoned his companion's SOUL. Infusing his hand with magic, he pushed down on a certain part of it. Dings fell unconscious and began to fall, but Lucida reacted quickly and caught him with her own magic, engulfing him with an orange glow.
"THAT LOOKS A LOT LIKE MY MAGIC, DOESN'T IT MR MYRIAD?" Papyrus noted. Myriad only raised one of his eyebrows in response.
"I don't think you should be using magic in your condition." Mystery tried but was shot down with a glare from Lucida.
"It was either that or let him fall to the ground." She retaliated. Mystery shrugged and mentioned that he was aiming for the latter, considering the stupidity of what her husband had done.
"Not a very nice thing to do, is it?" The alto voice of Dings spoke, but it was comprised with dignity this time. He picked himself off the floor and pressed his forehead against his wife's.
"Thank you for that."
"Well someone has to watch over your idiotic stunts."
She teased.
"Well, it is not going to be that fool of a monster over there." He replied, gesturing to Mystery. Mystery smiled, noticing the lack of malice in the words.
"You know I'm nearly as smart as you, right?" Mystery retaliated.
"Keyword 'almost'. Which means that you are more idiotic than I."  Mystery then grabbed Dings and proceeded to noogie his skull, ignoring his protests of "Please don't noogie the skeleton!". Lucida decided to step in before they went on.
"Well, I'm going to be the middle monster and say that you're both idiots." She declared triumphantly. Mystery released Dings, deciding to take the bait.
"And how exactly are you deciding that?" He asked. Lucinda beamed, pleased with the question. Dings sighed, wondering why the other had chosen to do that.

"Well, let's see. You," she spoke, pointing to Dings. "Are Wing Dings/Dingus Gaster MS, The Royal Scientist of the Monsters. You," she pointed at Mystery this time. "Are Avenair/Au Revoir Serif MS, The Elite Captain of the Royal Guard. You both have equal status AND-" She paused for effect. "Are both brothers. I, however," she declared, gesturing to herself. "Am Lucida Demibold MS, The Royal Judge of The King. Therefore, I outrank you both. So there." She finished, victorious.
Their suspicions were confirmed. Undyne, Asgore and Toriel were paralysed, hardly able to believe what they heard.
"Avenair AND Lucida?! And the Royal Scientist?! In one room?!" Asgore yelled, causing the others to back away, slightly scared.
"WHO ARE THEY?" Papyrus asked, very confused as to why they were freaking out over the fact that three important people were talking together.
"Stop! Keep watching!" Myriad commanded suddenly, using her magic to force them to watch.
Mystery, or Avenair, raised his hands in defeat.
"Moving on. Have you decided on a name for the child? One that ISN'T mine?" He added. Gaster sighed at that.
"It would have saved a lot of time and effort if we had just named the child after his Godfather. But, here we are, unfortunately. However, we did come up with a name in the end." Gaster stopped as if daring to ask his brother what it was. Avenair didn't feel like bothering to outsmart his brother, especially as it barely worked, so he relented. Near them, Asgore's mind was racing. The child of Lucida, he spoke. I know they survived. Who were they?!
"Alright. What's the name?" Avenair asked, and at that moment, Asgore remembered.
"Papyrus. Papyrus Calligraphy MS."
