Toriel summoned several fireballs and sent them at him.

Naruto shrieked and ducked out of the way, feeling the intense heat as they rolled past him.

He stated up at her and tried to tell her to stop, that he didn't want to fight, but the words got stuck in his throat and all he managed was to splutter nonsense.

Toriel sent another round of fireballs, and Naruto grit his teeth. He didn't want to hurt her, but he had to end this.

He clapped his hands together and closed his eyes, summoning on his determination. He felt a pull from his soul and the familiar sound of crackling energy as the red magic surrounded him.

Toriel looked surprised before going back to emotionless, sending more fire, but this time more powerful.

Naruto brought up his hands, and the energy formed a barrier that blocked the fire.

"I DON'T WANNA FIGHT YOU!" He shouted desperately, and he noticed toriels hands shake for a second whilst she casted another spell.

He leapt over the rain of fire and landed a few feet away from her, staring separately at her. She flinched as she sent another atack.

Naruto blocked, but it drained his health even so. He stood still and stared at her defeatedly.

"Stop it"

Another bout of fire that he barely even tried to defend from dropped his health to half. His soul glowed slightly less.

"Stop looking at me that way"

Toriels voice shook, and Naruto noticed that her attacks were weaker, some fireballs were even missing him, even though he was standing still.

Suddenly toriel let her hands drop to her sides. "Please... I know you want to go home, but.... Please... Go upstairs now"

Naruto stayed silent.

"I can take good care of you. You could have a happy life"

His mouth opened but no sound came.

"I-"

"Please!" Naruto said heartbroken, staring at her in the eyes. "Please, I have to go mum! Let me go, I need to go! I have friends up there, i-"

"Mum..." He heard her mutter, and he paused. "You called me mum"

Naruto clamped his mouth shut and looked down. His shoulder began to shake.

Toriel hugged him, and he cried loudly into her shoulder, hiccuping and sobbing.

"If you want to leave, I won't stop you" she said gently. "Beyond that door is the exit. Keep walking straight"

She put her hands on his shoulders, his eyes still red rimmed and leaking tears. "Please, be careful. But once you go, please do not come back. I-i hope you understand" her voice wobbled.

Naruto nodded. "Thanks f-for everything" he said sadly. "Goodbye"

Toriel nodded, and tears began to appear in her own eyes, before she hastily wiped them off and ran back, not looking back.

Naruto clutched at his sweater, a sad smile before he turned to the door.

Wiping his nose with his sleeve, he opened the door and went through.

Before him was a long, long corridor. Several paths branched off, but he did as toriel said and walked straight until he reached an arch at the end.

Walking through, he found himself in a dimly lit room.

Before him... Was flowey.

"Ooh, you really haven't learned jack shit, have ya?" Came flowey's patronising voice. "In this world, it's kill or be killed"

Naruto's hands balled into fists.

"But ya played by yer own rules. You spared the life of a single person. I betcha feeling' real good"

"I do" Naruto said calmly, lips pursed. "I feel fucking amazing. It wasn't necessary to kill. So I didn't kill"

"So if it was necessary, you would?"

"Probably" that response clearly took flowey off guard, because he pauses and the smile dropped.

"Your differant" was his quiet response, before burrowing back into the ground.
