Chapter 3-Holy Damn

"Where am I?" Naruto demanded shakily, and toriel gave him a sweet smile. "The underground, domain of monsters. You came from above, with the humans, so I cannot blame your shock"

Naruto trembled. "I-i...." He clutched himself. "I want to go home" he whispered, biting his lower lip. "I don't want to be here"

A tense moment passed before toriel let out a heavy sigh and turned around.

"Would you like me to show you the way through the ruins?"

Naruto considered this, but decided to trust her. If she wanted to kill him, wouldn't she have done so already?

So obediently, he followed.

"This way" she called, leading him through a purple arch, and walking up a flight of stairs. She waited patiently at the top for him.

Naruto saw a golden light. For some reason, he wanted to touch it. Walking closer, he nervously reaches out and and touches it.

The glow lit up the room. The shadow of the ruins loomed ahead, filling him with determination. He felt a rush, and suddenly all of the earlier pain was gone.

"What just-" he began, but toriel explained. "Ah, a restoration star. They heal you, and apparently they are supposed to fill you with determination."

Naruto nodded in understanding. He continued to follow her, worry clear on his face. This place scared him a little still.

"Allow me to educate you in the workings of the ruins" she suddenly said, and Naruto paused, looking around the room they were now in. There was a closed door and several buttons on the floor.

"The ruins are full of puzzles" she explained, going over the buttons in a special order making the door open. "Ancient fusions between diversions and door keys. One must solve them to move from room to room. Please adjust yourself to the sight of them."

"I... Hate puzzles" Naruto admitted, rubbing the back of his neck with an awkward giggle, and toriel looked quite surprised before smiling. "I see. Well, you may come to like them. Now, let us move on"
