-Sometime later, in the lab in hotland-

"This is creepy" Clarence whispered, and everyone had to silently agree with him. It was so dark you couldn't see the walls, and it was very messy and silent.

Then they saw a moniter. They saw themselves projected, and that meant there was someone watching them. Kara shivered and grabbed onto the sleeves of 'her' jacket.

Then there was the sound of a door opening. The shadow and a hunched figure approached.
The light flickered on.

Sans blinked before smiling. "-lphys" he mumbled something but Kara couldn't quite catch it all. She sent him a curious look, but he just grinned.

"Oh my god! I didn't expect you all to show up so soon!" The figure exclaimed. It was a yellow monster, that rather resembled a lizard. They had glasses on and was staring at them.

"I haven't showered I'm barely dressed it's all messy and-" she stopped rambling. She gave them an unexpected smile.

"Hiyyyaaa! I'm doctor alphys, I'm asgore's royal scientist! But uh... don't worry, I'm not one of the bad guys! Actually since you stepped out from the ruins, I've uh... been observing your journey! Your fights! Your friendships! Everything! I was originally going to stop you but............ watching people on a screen really makes you root for them! So uh... now I want to help you! I can guide you through hotland-!"

The group stared at her, stunned and unable to comprehend as she continued.

"I know a way right to asgore's castle, no problem! But um, there is a tiny issue. A long time ago, I created a robot called Mettaton. Originally, I made him to be an entertainment robot, but... recently I decided to make him more useful."

"How?" Rebecca asked curiously, and alphys gave her a smile riddled with guilt. "Just um you know.. practical adjustments. Like uhhh.... anti human combat features?"

"Question!" Rebecca called out. "Did you or your robot ever encounter a human with hair In a bun? Called Jaime?"

Alphys paused and shrugged. "I'm unsure, sorry. I-if mettaton got to them they have already been eradicated so...."

Rebecca stiffened and nodded. "yeah, OK" lucy put an arm around her and she snuggled up against her, trying to stop the tears from falling. Alphys awkwardly continued.

"Well, when I saw you all approach I tried to remove them.... but, I might have made a teensy mistake whilst trying..."

Clarence deadpanned. "Teensy makes me think of something huge. Spit it out"

Alphys nodded. "Um.. now he's an unstoppable killing machine with a thirst for human blood?"

"WHAT?!" James shouted, glaring at her. "HOW IS THAT A TINY MISTAKE?! YOU MEAN WE COULD ALL DIE?!"

"James, get it together!" Clarence hissed, grabbing the other boys shoulders. "She tried, OK?? And none of us as going to die!"

Alphys looked close to tears herself, and sans put a re-assuring hand on her shoulder. Alphys finally snapped her attention to him. "O-oh, sans! You.... you don't have your mask on!"

"You knew sans is human?"kara asked, and alphys nodded. "W-well yeah. I'm the new royal scientist, so I had to take up the position of the old one. The old one was the one who kept sans hidden"

Sans flinched slightly, but grinned. "So yeah alphys, where is mettaton right now?"

Alphys smiled weakly. "I uh..... I don't know, but hopefully not here-"

The wall exploded.

Debris flew everywhere.

"OH YES! WELCOME BEAUTIES... TO TODAYS QUIZ SHOW!"

as the light dimmed, a spotlight appeared. A rectangular shape made of metal was present in the room.

Here comes mettaton.

(PS, I figured that I don't give Clarence James lucy or Rebecca enough screentime, so I gave them a bit of attention.)
