Chapter One - Where it Begins?
[Reader's POV]
"Hurry up slowpoke!" The sound of my annoying older brother shouting at me makes me pick up the pace running faster.
"Why are you such an idiot?!" I ask in frustration as I try to stay close behind him jumping over a few barrels.
"Not my fault you're so slow!"
"Not MY fault?! I'm not the one who picked a fight with the wrong people!" I threw my fist in the air just getting angrier. My older brother is such a loudmouth idiot who doesn't know his place! He nervously laughs as we both kept running.
"Get them!" A soldier shouts as the sound of metal hitting against the white stone ground reaches my ears making me pick up the pace.
"Oh, I just can't wait to tell dad what happened once we get home!!!"
"What?! No way! You can't tell dad!"
"You bet your sorry butt I am telling dad!" I glare at the tall male I call my older brother.
"Don't let them get away!" Another soldier shouts with another handful of those soldiers who kept chasing after us. I click my tongue as I jump forward getting a large boost grabbing onto my brother's shirt.
"Hold on tight!" I tell him in which he grabs tightly onto my shoulders as I lick my lips. "Hear my voice and summon yourselves under my call. Invisible yet as swift as the ocean. I order you to grasp tightly and help me soar. Sky Jumper!" A light green aura surrounds my body and soon enough I position myself and finally my brother and I jumped as high as possible into the sky.
"Land on one of the roofs and jump!" I shout to my brother who let out a small cry once we launched into the air. We swiftly land onto a red-tiled roof and jump from building to building.
After a while of running about from soldiers jumping roof to roof, we were finally home. Let's just say that dad didn't really take the news about what happened all too well to it.
"You dragged her into one of your stupid ideas again?! How many times have I told you not to get involved with those people?! Especially dragging in your own little sister!" My dad shouts with full anger and frustration slamming his hand against the wooden table shaking the food. I sat there quietly eating my favorite food.
"But dad! It wasn't even my fault!" My brother tries to explain.
"You are part of a guild! You shouldn't be bringing down their reputation all because you messed around with the royal guard!" My dad shoots back at my brother who stood there in utter surprise and slight shame. "I don't believe I raised you to be this childish! Be a man Uerium! Have some pride!"
I finish eating my plate and quietly dismissed myself from the table along with my little sister who was only 8. She may be young but she is very strong with water spells. Her name is Cordelia. Dad never really told us who is her mother or where he found her. He just brought her home one day and before you knew it she became part of the family.
"Thank you for the meal," I grab Cordelia's small fragile hands and take her upstairs to our rooms.
"We have quite the family," Cordelia points out as she makes her way to her bed and jumps onto the bed sitting there swinging her legs.
That's right...
Quite the "family" we were.
My dad.
His name is Leo Gerard Klaus. My father was a very strong hearted and brave man. Held a large caliber for swords. He went from a blacksmith to an ex-dungeon adventurer. That's how he got the title the "Dungeon King". Well, he was one of them at least. He has others who share the same title who helped him gain it. One of them, our deceased mother. No one knows what she looks like except dad. No pictures. No memory. Nothing. Even Uerium doesn't remember who she is.
My older brother, Uerium.
Age 21. He is part of a guild called the Tigers Viper; they specialize in abnormal investigation and some monster exterminations. They were well known for their non-magic users but lack slightly financially. He can be slightly obnoxious and childish but press his buttons and he will not stand down to hurt anyone. He can be a bit reckless but he is a very big-hearted guy.
Then there is little Cordelia.
She was 5 when dad had brought her home. No one knows where she came from. Dad explained that he found her while he was out on a special mission. Apparently, he found her almost dead laying on the beach. I remember she didn't even know how to speak or read. Not even write. Nothing. Once she got the hang of it she began to read books meant for adults. Magic tomes. Meant for high leveled mages. She is very skilled. She may be young but she is in full bloom. After a while, she finally opened up and began to become more like a kid. She was finally smiling and laughing. She really is an amazing kid and I love her to bits. I will protect this little girl with my life.
I love my family and will protect them always.
I look over to Cordelia who was leaning on her bed reading another book. I smile as I continue to stare at her.
"What's up?" Cordelia asks furrowing her eyebrows in confusion. A wide smile forms across my face and I ruffle her ruby red hair.
"You are amazing Cordelia," I tell her and I engulf her into a hug in which she squirms.
"Lemme go! I'm still reading!" She retorts trying to escape my arms. I laugh and hug her one more time squeezing her tightly before pulling away from her. I grab my handy beautiful dual daggers that my dad and I made together. He always told me to not go overboard with making weapons but I did what I did and no going back.
I was able to bend and mold the metals into those lovely flowers on my dagger and used some simple skills to help put more colors on the blades. I was 7 when I made them. I upgraded them of course but it took more time. The better they are the better the attacks.
I grab my bag and threw it over my shoulder making my way towards the window opening them slowly making sure they don't make a lot of sounds.
"I'll be back by dawn. Make sure Uerium and dad don't kill each other or destroy this house," I say putting a finger to my lips smirking as Cordelia gives me a simple nod not even looking up from her book. I smile and jump out of the window. I gracefully land on my own two feet and stood up straight to stretch a little.
The sound of a quiet desolate forest is sort of boring but that just leaves more fun for me. I can't wait to find more things to discover on my own.
I lick my lips as my (e/c) eyes glaze over the dark forest.
"Let's have some fun shall we?" I smirk as I run straight into the forest.
It's time to begin.
