Chapter 17: The Legend
As everyone settled for the night, Mug was a flustered mess. Latte had told him that he would have sleep with her tonight. I mean not in the sexual sense, but still it was odd sleeping in the same bed with a really pretty girl. Mug had tried to refuse and say he would sleep on the floor with his sleeping bag, but....
"Oi! Your my guest, love. I will not let you sleep on the bloody hard ass floor. Now come on," Latte spoke up as Mug sighed in defeat following her upstairs to her room.
Both were now lying in bed facing away from each other. Neither able to sleep as both their faces were red in embarrassment. It didn't help that Cuphead and Bendy were still at it a couple of doors down from the two. Latte's mum would be laughing her ass off if she was here. Probably tell her along the lines of "Finally getting a guy in her bed." Just thinking of that made Latte blush more.
"Hey. You still awake," Mug asked turning to face her back.
"Yeah. Sadly........," Latte answered turning over to actually face him.
"Well, why don't we just talk until we actually get too tired to do that," Mug suggested as Latte giggled at the idea of talking in bed instead of other things.
"Sure! I was actually never told wha' exactly this adventure that you mates are on is even for," Latte asked using an arm to prop herself up.
"Well....... Promise not to laugh or anything, okay," Mug started as Latte gave a small okay, "We're finding the pieces to the ink machine so we can get it fixed. For Bendy's sake. You see she has the ink illness."
"Really? Hmmmmmmm. That does explain some things. I'll have to get a care package of some sorts for Bendy.....," Latte spoke up.
"Huh? I thought you'd think we were crazy," Mug piped up in surprise.
"Crazy? Nah! Besides I know a legend that my grandmum told me when I was a little tike about the ink machine," Latte explained with a small wink at Mug making him blush.
"Really? How does it go," Mug asked eyes brightening up at hearing a story.
"Well, it won't be as well told as my grandmum told me, but I'll try," Latte explained as she saw how Mug leaned more towards her waiting in anticipation for her to tell, "Let's see. The legend states that the chosen ones will travel to six temples hidden in the deepest and darkest parts of the world. Inside they will meet the guardian of the piece and will face their challenges. It is suppose to see if they are worthy of the part."
"Who are the guardians," asked Mug.
"Well, supposedly the guardians are the six individuals who had helped create the machine with the inventor. Along with protecting it from any wanker who had any dark or selfish intentions for it. But then supposedly the darkness in mortal hearts had escalated to the point where a war for the machine had occurred. The guardians fought to their last breath, and in their final minutes they broke the machine taking the six most important parts to their own graves. The inventor himself was the one who took the guardians bodies and the six pieces and placed them in each of the temples that he had built in secret. It was odd cause he knew that something was going to happen and was prepared. Anyways, supposedly a map was created and was handed to the heavens. Only the chosen ones would be given the map when the time was right," Latte finished taking a breath from the whole explanation.
Mug looked at her in surprise. Part of him was wondering how her grandmother knew all that. Latte knew what he wanted to ask and she simply shrugged. She didn't even know herself. He nodded slowly as they changed to another subject. Due to the fact that Mug needed to process everything he heard and relay it back to everyone else tomorrow morning. They talked about favorite colors, food, music, ect. Until....
"Oh~ Cup~," both heard Bendy cry out in pleasure.
Both looked over to the far right wall with wide eyes, then back at each other with blushing faces.
"Oh god....... How long 'ave they been at it," Latte asked in hushed tone.
Mug looked above her at her clock on the nightstand, "Probably at most...... six hours......."
"Oh...... Well then.... They 'ave a lot of stamina, don't they," Latte spoke after couple minutes of awkward silence.
Mug didn't why it was funny, but he burst out into laughter. Latte followed suit as both just laughed to the point where tears were forming in their eyes. They did eventually calm down as they started to talk away again still snickering from time to time and then falling asleep finally Latte ending up in Mug's arms while they slept.
<Time-Skip> (Morning)
When the sun had risen, Latte woke up first as she found herself cuddling up against Mug. Her face heated up instantly. Now she would've moved, but Mug had his arms wrapped around her waist and she actually found it rather comfortable. Mug soon woke up yawing as looked to see Latte. He was confused at first until he realized the position they were in. Mug blushed instantly.
"Sorry.....," Mug spoke quietly about to remove his arms from her until she placed a hand on his chest.
"You don't need to apologize, love. Besides, I actually find this really comfortable. Best sleep I've had in lord knows how long," Latte explained with a soft smile.
Mug smiled widely with a darker blush as he settled back down. Still too early to get up anyways. They just lied quietly in silent content as Mug gently used his thumb to rub her waist side gently. She softly giggled at the feeling as she put her head back onto his chest. 'So this is how my bro feels when he wakes up with Bendy' thought Mug with a smile. He liked it.
<Small Time-Skip>
It was time for the group to head out. Latte was nice enough to provide a breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and sausages to the group. During that point Mug had explained the stuff Latte had told him last night. Everyone listened and understood that this information was crucial for their quest. If they were going to get the pieces they would have to be extra careful from now on.
As they slipped on their shoes to leave, Mug had noticed a beautiful light blue scarf with patterns of small white flowers. When no one was looking he had snatched it and shoved it in his pocket. It was a dumb idea, but he wanted to remember her and have something of hers...... just in case.........
Latte smiled at the group as she said good bye to each of them. Hugging Bendy gently and telling her to be extremely careful. She eventually stopped at Mug and smiled at him gently.
"Well, take care love," Latte spoke as she pulled him into a hug.
Mug hugged back wrapping his arms around her waist. Part of him didn't want to let her go, but he knew he had to. They pulled back slightly as Mug saw some tears form in her eyes. He was stunned when she suddenly kissed him gently on his cheek. He touched the spot where she kissed blushing darkly as she stepped out of his embrace sadly.
"Please be careful. And try to come visit when you can, okay," Latte spoke softly to him as Mug could only nod.
When they had walked out the door, Mug couldn't help, but frown slightly. He was going to really miss her. At least he had something do remind him to keep going and try to see this through. Besides she'd be here waiting for him......... It didn't take long for Cuphead to tease him. How the tables have turned.......

The adventure continues folks! I decided to add my own lore to the ink machine, because I wanted to add more fantasy and mystical feel to the story. You'll learn more about these guardians as the story progresses, but some of them might be very familiar to some of you. Antebellum96 Out!
