two dragons rushed towards the nursery, looking for a specific egg.
"over here!"
"diadem you are far too excited for this. we still don't know who dropped this off, and it's such a big egg..."
"it'll be fine, now look!"
apodemia looked toward the large egg, visible cracks starting to form. out of the broken shell popped not one, but two small heads.
"twins? that's rare..."
"mama?" the grayish blue one said.
"aww look at that apodemia! he thinks i'm his mama!"
"well we do have our own dragonets. it makes sense. you have a very motherly aura."
"maybe we can name this one mural," diadem said, gesturing to the grayish blue one. "and this one can be dapple!" she pointed to the yellowish one as she spoke.
"great, we've named them. now can i go back to sleep?" apodemia begrudged.
"no, of course not! we've got to introduce them to the kids!" diadem exclaimed.
"now?" apodemia asked tiredly.
"yes, now!" diadem was excited, and she was not afraid to show it.
she carefully rushed out of the room with the two dragonets in her talon, and apodemia begrudgingly followed.
"kids! come meet your new friends!" said diadem cheerfully.
a dragonet excitedly bounded in, with two slowly following him. one seemed to be guiding the other. noticeably, they all had no wings.
"wait for beauty, forester! you know she can't see where she's going."
"but new friends!! want to see new friends!!!" forester exclaimed happily.
"there's no waiting with you, is there?" heath sighed.
"no!!" forester said gleefully.
heath sighed again, then asked, "what is it that you wanted ma?"
"come see the new dragonets! they're very cute." diadem stated.
"ooh, really? are they pretty?" beauty asked.
"yes they are, honey. i wish you could see them." diadem said wistfully.
"i wish i wasn't born blind..." beauty said sadly.
"don't worry beauty! i'll be your eyes!!" forester said happily.
"thanks forester. i appreciate it." beauty said with a smile.
"what are their names?" heath asked the two older dragons.
"we decided to name them dapple," she pointed to the yellow one, "and mural." she then pointed to the blue-gray one.
"those names are awesome!" forester said with a giggle.
"yes yes now they've met them. now can i head back to sleep? it's getting late y'know.." apodemia said groggily.
"yes, now you can go back to sleep love." diadem said.
"thank you. g'night kids."
"good night!" the three dragonets said in unison.
"nii!" the two newly-hatched dragonets said.
"aww how cute!" beauty said.
"well, your parent is right. it is getting late, so time for bed, kids." diadem said authoritatively.
"awww...." the dragonets said together.
"oh come on, none of that! in the morning you can play with the others and introduce them to these two!"
"okay!!" they said in unison.
as diadem put the two new dragonets in bed, she sang them a lullaby, and soon the two were sound asleep.
