Chapter Nine

(Elliott's pov)

Four Months Earlier

"I can't believe I let you talk me into this," Shaun mumbled as he downed another shot.

"Mhm," I said, taking a sip from my half-empty beer bottle.

Shaun was always so serious. I figured if I invited him to come have a few drinks with me, he'd let loose a little.

Boy, was I wrong.

All he has been doing is non-stop bitching. I didn't realize Shaun could drink like this. I'm pretty sure he's had over ten shots of vodka. Just by looking at him, you would think that he was still sober, but I've been friends with him long enough to know he was shit-faced.

"Another one," Shaun's voice slurred out.

"No, no more. You've had enough Shaun," I said, signaling to the bartender not to give him anymore to drink. To which he gave me a knowing nod.

"I'm fine."

"I'm sure you are buddy," I said, giving his back a little pat.

"I'm sleepy," he muttered out.

I couldn't help but chuckle as I pulled out my phone, dialing the number of one of my men.

"Sir?" He asked once he answered the phone.

"I need you to send a car. Shaun is shit-faced, and I'm not quite done here yet," I said as my eyes met once more with this beautiful brunette.

"Of course, sir. What's your location?"

"I'll text it to you," I said, hanging up, texting him the location of the club we were at.

I motioned to one of my men who was here. He came over to where we were at against the bar. Shaun mumbled about how he wasn't drunk before he slumped against Dan. Dan cursed under his breath as he had to carry Shaun's wasted ass out of the club. I watched them until they walked through the club's doors. Once they were out of sight I turned back to the brunette.

She was currently on her phone, a frown on her face, as she angrily tossed her phone back into her purse. Wonder what it was that pissed her off? I pushed myself away from the bar, pushing through the crowd until I was standing behind her.

"Everything ok?" I asked, tapping on her shoulder, causing her to jump.

She quickly turned in her seat, staring at me with questioning eyes.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. It's just that I couldn't help but notice that you seemed upset so."

She bit down on her bottom lip, staring at me before gesturing towards the seat in front of her. I thanked her before taking the seat that was just offered to me. I watched as she took her phone out again, typing something before turning the screen towards me.

'I just wanted to let you know that I'm mute.'

"I see," I said. That explains why she gestured towards the seat instead of asking me if I would like to join her.

She turned her phone back towards her, typing something before turning it back towards me.

'What happened to your friend that was with you?'

I chuckled as I read her text.

"He can't hold his liquor well, so I had a friend of mine take him home," I said.

She made this 'ah' expression before smiling.

"What about you? Are you here with someone?"

'I was here with my friend, but she ditched me for some douche-looking guy.'

"I see."

She groaned as her face wore an annoyed expression. She pulled her phone from her purse again, before rolling her eyes. She quickly typed something out on her phone before showing me what she wrote.

'My ex is a jackass.'

"Why's that?"

'We got into a big fight over something stupid.'

"Like?."

'I don't want to get into it.'

She let out a sad sigh as she played with the straw in her cocktail.

"Do you maybe want to get out of here?"

'Yes please, this music is getting on my nerves.'

I couldn't help but chuckle at her excited expression. She must really hate it here.

'How come you're in a hotel? Didn't you say you lived here in town?'

"I do, but my place is being renovated at the moment and sadly, I don't have anyone who will let me crash at their place. So hotel it is," I said.

After we left the club, we went back to my hotel room. We were currently sitting against the headboard with a pizza that we ordered sitting between us. I still don't know her name, and she doesn't know mine, but something about her is so calming.

It's like I've known her my whole life. I feel like I can talk to her about anything. I've never been this comfortable with anyone, not even Shaun.

'Damn, that sucks. When will you be able to go back home?'

"Hopefully next week."

She nodded her head as she took another swig of her beer.

"We should do shots," I said as I stood from the bed, going over to the minibar that was across the room.

I grabbed a bottle of vodka and two shot glasses before walking back over to the bed.

'I'll only do a few. I'm not much of a drinker so.'

"Just a few," I said, filling the glasses.

Those 'just a few' shots turned into a lot. By the time I was semi sobered up, I was seated between her bare thighs, pumping in and out of her in a steady rhythm. How we got to this point I'm not sure, but God knows I wasn't going to.

She felt so good, and the way her soft, delicate voice moaned out. I hadn't heard her voice at all tonight, but now, now, she was a moaning mess. She was clinging to me, digging her nails into me when I would hit one of her good spots.

Was she still drunk? Or had she sobered up as well?

There was no way I was going to let her go. She was mine now, and I'd be dammed if anyone else but me could see her like this. No one else but me.

When our eyes met, I knew. I knew she had sobered up as well. I leaned down, capturing her plump pink lips as I quickened my pace. She was squeezing me so tightly, I wasn't sure how much longer I was going to be able to hold out for.

Her hands tightened their grip on me as her body tensed before she started to shake with every move I made.

"Just hold out for a minute," I whispered into her ear.

She continued to moan as my hips moved at a quick and unsteady pace. I could feel my release coming as I moaned out finally reaching my release.

When I woke up the next day, my bed was empty. I sat up in bed, looking around to see the room was empty as well. I stood from the bed, letting the sheets fall off of my naked body.

I walked over to the bathroom. It was empty as well. I walked back over to my bed, taking a seat as I grabbed my pack of cigarettes and my phone from the bedside table. I lit a cigarette as I called Shaun's number, hoping the bastard wasn't too hungover.

"Hello?" His raspy voice asked.

"I need you to find someone for me," I said.

"Who?"

"I don't know her name," I said.

The line went quiet for a moment before he spoke again.

"How am I supposed to find her, then?" He asked.

"Give me a moment." I threw the phone down on the bed. I got up, walking around the room, hoping to find something, anything really that could identify her.

"Shit," I mumbled out as I couldn't find anything.

Well, that was until I saw what looked like a billfold peaking out from under the bed. I bent down, picking up. I opened it to see her face staring back at me.

"Bingo," I said, grinning as I stared down at her driver's license.

"Her name is Phoenix Jones. I'll send you a picture of her license," I told Shaun after picking up my phone.

"I'll see what I can find," Shaun said, hanging up the phone.

I sat down, staring at her picture.

"You could have at least said goodbye," I mumbled under my breath.
