Not Again

I knew what was going to happen, not again.....
I was up that night scrolling through my phone, looking at some pictures of Daniel, Rylen, and I.

"Dottie." I heard a whisper, startled, I dropped my phone on my face.

"Yeah? Oh, Aphmau!" I grinned, that was pretty clumsy of me.

"What's up?"

"I couldn't sleep....... Just looking through some old photos......"

"That's nice."

"Aphmau....... Have you ever lost a friend?"

I guess that was a hard question, because it took her a moment to reply.
"Yeah, when I was forced to come here.... Why?"

I sniffled.
"I've been friends with Daniel and Rylen for most of my life, and tomorrow I won't have them...." I was on the verge of tears, and I guess it came out in my voice, because she jumped out of her bed and ran over to comfort me.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"Daniel and Rylen.... They're going to be put down tomorrow......" I sobbed.

"So they aren't here to die naturally?!"

"For us werewolves, it's a little different. When we get the virus, it a lot more deadly and contagious, so we're treated like any other dog, we get put down, because the death by virus for us is said to be extremely painful, whereas, for you humans, you feel almost nothing...."

"Wow...... That's......"

"Don't worry about us, it's normal...." I started crying again.
"What am I gonna do without them!"
I couldn't believe this was happening again, I kept losing the people I loved.

The next morning I darted out the door to see Rylen and Daniel being dragged off.

"No! You can't!" I screamed after them. A guard stalked up to me.
I guess all the commotion woke up Aphmau, because she darted out the door after us.
The guard punched me in the stomach.

"Hey!" She growled as she ran over and punched him in the face.
"That's my friend!"

How stupid was she? I guess she didn't know that messing with the guards earns you a beating.
I got up and ran after Daniel and Rylen, only to have a heavy iron door shut in my face. I ran over to the window on the side of the building and started banging on the glass, I guess they knew how to make things werewolf proof here.
I started sobbing, tears stained my face, Aphmau stood there in shock, I guess my cheerful outer shell got cracked enough for her to see some of the other me.

Inside the people strapped my best friends down to surgery tables and grabbed syringes. I kept crying out, they echoed throughout the camp.
I couldn't believe this was happening again!
Just as they were about to kill them, Aphmau ran up and turned my head away, but it was too late, I already knew what it looked like all too well.
After it was over she turned her attention back to me, I was sobbing into her lavender hoodie.
She tried to comfort me, but I knew it wouldn't work, she did her best, but I couldn't handle it, so I ran off to the place where I always ran.
