III
It had been a month and half since the forces of the Russian Federation crossed into the world now known as Azerona. Auria had learned the basic forms of communication and translation, having been studying almost entire days, listening to the conversations and interactions of the soldiers around her. For Igor, Yusupov came over, amazed by this world. However, Yusupov did not simply come to see but also carried out an order. The high ranking officials have requested that a contact is to be made and to try and establish some kind of relation with the current land they are in. Another vehicle has been added to their convoy, a T 55 tank as it was deemed enough.
It might be old, but it's simplicity could be an advantage, if it is lost due some unfortunate reason it is no big loss. If it breaks down it is easy to fix, it doesn't have many technological instruments in it and has access to valuable HE shells that could aid them more than a HEATFS or APFSDS would. With their convoy of five vehicles they set off with the T 55 at the front followed by a BTR, then both GAZs in the middle and a BTR at the back.
However, in the distance they notice a large cloud of smoke rising up into the sky, Auria's heart sinks. It comes directly from the direction of the town, could there be trouble there. The soldiers around her seem relaxed, talking as they travel across the muddy ground. Soon enough they pass by her home and drive down the path she usually took. The vehicle all the way at the front that she learned is called a tank which she found weird, why would someone name a device of destruction after a object meant for storing liquid. It does make a lot of noise, smoke coming off of the back each time it starts to move faster. She is eager to learn more about these machines and devices these RF soldiers use. As they exit the forest her worst fear had come into reality, the once lively town now lays in ruins. There had clearly been a battle and outside she sees bodies of soldiers, two armies had clashed here, one she does not recognize however. Dread fills her, the poor people that died here, for what, why. Because of greed. The normal folk that lived in that town, going about their lives, came to an end not of fate but greed. As they enter the town she looks all around, through the windows, bodies, some scorched, some have been mauled by creatures and rats. Some hang but most on the floor. The silence only broken up by the sound of engines. They finally reach the center where a horrific scene is displayed before them. Everyone gets out of their vehicles. Mountains of corpses, only one body had been separated. The local priestess, tied between two poles, her limbs tied open, her clothes removed. A shameful death, have those soldiers not have any shame or honor. It doesn't help that the priestess clearly suffered before her demise. Her body thin and covered in scars and bruises. Igor can't help but feel disgusted by the pure stench around them, everyone covering their noses, come even clamping them shut.
Soldier: What monsters did this?
Igor: Men, like you and me, they did this. War is not for the faint hearted.
Soldier: Have they got no shame? This is no way to treat civilians.
Igor: We are not Earth. They do not have laws or morals like we do, they all savages, monsters in human skin.
Soldier: Do we dare even search for any survivals? I mean, look at all of this, if there was anyone who survived they would have escaped.
Igor: You are probably right. But right now, I think the best idea would be to burn the bodies, we simply can't burry all of that. Grab some fuel and pour it on each pile.
The soldiers nod and run to grab fuel, leaving him alone to look at the horrors of war, furious. A flag hangs atop the temple, as a mark of victory, a blue background and a lion as it's crest. He made sure to remember it to know who to avoid. The soldiers make quick work in starting fires, burning the bodies as to stop any disease from forming and spreading. Some soldiers did throw up so it was decided quickly to leave and head on forward. With their journey continuing they headed out forward, leaving the ruined town and heading east, in hopes of finding a village or town that had not been ravaged. As the day passes and the sun slowly begins to disappear a decision is made to camp out by the side of a road, to rest as there is no reason in continuing. As everyone settles for the night Igor is unable to sleep and instead walk out and look as the night sky, filled with stars. A beautiful sight, one that you could never get tired of, always dreaming of what is truly out there. His thoughts interrupted by rustling coming from a nearby bush. Grabbing his pistol he heads over there to see what it could be. Taking each step with the highest caution, ready to shoot whatever it may be. As he looks behind the bush he sees a small creature, a white rabbit looking creature with ears that have a black tip and the most distinguishable features, a black fluffy tip tail and a pair of wings with black feathers at the edges. Their gazes lock, he lowers his gun, deeming it not a threat. Turning around he is on his way back when the little critter lands on his shoulder, startling him. He tries to shoo it away but it keeps coming back so after giving up Igor tries to pet it and it allows him.
Igor: You are a cute little thing. I shall call you Engel.
A sense of relaxation starts to set in and Igor yawns, feeling finally tired and finally going to sleep. The next morning everyone is awoken up by a scream, Igor jumping quickly up only to see Auria not too far away from him, pointing at him. Most importantly, pointing at the rabbit creature.
Auria: H-How?
Igor and every other soldier is confused, unsure how to react, however every soldier quickly melts once they see Snegopad. Their voices go high pitched and squeaky, as if talking to a little puppy but it clear that the little rabbit only wants Igor to pet it, not a single other soul. Auria's reaction in this world would be considered tame, the creature that Igor has with him is called a Allapi, a species that is so rare, so little know that there are only a few encounters with these beings. They are believed to be divine all powerful beings created from pure mana. Their divine aura had been reported to be so powerful that a single one of these beings could strike down an army of thousand or more by itself. They come in many shapes and forms. However, since nobody knows this their reactions are different from hers. Everyone quickly packs up and gets in their vehicles , Engel clearly having no intention to leave Igor's side so it tags along, becoming the convoys mascot. The more they travel the more they realize that battle had not reached this far, it seems to have stopped at the town they passed. They move through a passage in between two high mountains. Once they are past the mountain pass and exit on the other side, it is like another world, a forest stretching out before them. Trees as tall as radar towers, the entire place looks like the garden of Eden. They follow the road further, finally entering said forest, feeling completely dwarfed by the nature around them. Not long after down the road from them, they notice a large gathering of soldiers wearing armor on horseback. Behind them a dark banner with a white tree in the middle. Auria manages to remember who they are, Kingdom of Khirin, a proud and noble nation mostly consisting of elves. They worship nature and are know for being not only excellent healers but archers. Their horses start to panic at the noise of engines approaching them.
Igor: Who are they Auria?
Auria: Elf.
Igor: Elf? Hoho, nice. Alright men, stop.
The convoy grinds to a halt. Igor, Auria and two other soldiers exit their vehicles while everyone has been told to be ready for any 'complication'. The commander of the T 55 getting on top of the DSHK machinegun on top of the turret. As they get closer to the soldiers Igor studies them.
Igor: Good evening gentlemen, my name is Igor Andreevich, I am the representative of the Russian Federation.
The elves looks confused, some even shocked by the sound of his language. Auria steps in, seeing that the situation is hopeless. She bows before the commander of the elven soldiers, distinguished by his armor.
Auria: Greetings sire, my name is Auria, the man that had addressed you is Igor Andreevich, representative of a nation called Russian Federation.
The elf steps off of his horse and approaches.
Gaelin: It is good to know someone has manners. I am Gaelin, commander of these fine men. Russian Federation? Never heard of them and what are those ungodly carriages they came in.
Auria: I am told that I can not tell. I do apologies but I can assure you that these soldiers are not evil, they come with pure intentions.
Gaelin looks at the strange looking soldiers, confused not only by their attire but also by the strange carriages they came from. They make such an ungodly noise, look so undignified and have no animals to pull them forward. He steps closer to the man called Igor, inspecting his gear. Then, from under his jacket something starts to move, prompting Gaelin to pull out his sword and point. Igor's men quicky aim as well, surprised by the sudden change of attitude. From under the jacket pops out a small white head and then Engel fully exits climbing on top of Igor's helmet. Every elf gasps and Gaelin is no different. To see a Allapi is so rare and such a honor, yet, it is not with some hero or famous mage, but with a soldier of an unknown nation.
Gaelin: You did not say he had an Allapi as a companion.
Auria: I still could not believe that it is actually an Allapi. It appeared this morning sleeping on top of him. I was shocked as you were.
Gaelin: What do you mean, 'appeared'?
Auria: I know, you must think I have gone mad. But it was not there last night. I don't know how but I dare not question the decision of the Allapi.
Gaelin: Strange. Maybe our Queen might know why? I am guessing that judging by the fact that the man said he was a representative you would wish to meet our leaders.
Auria: Just a moment please.
Auria looks at Igor.
Auria: Igor, would you be willing to meet their leaders?
Igor: More than willing, it is my mission after all.
Auria: Gaelin, please, if you would, lead the way.
Gaelin: I understand.
He turns around, yelling at his men as Igor and everyone else gets in their vehicles and turn on their engines, scaring the elves once more. Nonetheless, they continue forward, escorting them to their destination.
