Chapter 19
The news had more articles coming left and right from nowhere. Most were useless theories while very few had new information. The school closed the following day to let the police finish their investigation and to let things cool down. Not sure how they expect that to happen when one of your classmates was literally butchered alive.
The little bit of information that came out was identifying the first victim. It was that guy from the boba shop in the mall. Thank god it wasn't Bakugo. But there's still no mention of who this murderer could be. Or where the....'meat' of these victims are. You shook your head, the haunting thoughts being too much to think about. Tamaki as usual was with you, holding you close as he slowly kissed away all the bad thoughts.
You both were laid on your bed, the covers fully covering you to your neck. The season became chilly even during the day. Thanksgiving was fast approaching and you couldn't wait to get off campus. Tamaki snuggled closer to you, his warm body pressed against you as his strong arms snaked themselves around your body. He gently kissed your forehead to get your attention.
"Bunny? How are you holding up?"
"....I, I just can't wait to get off campus."
He held you tighter as he said "Me too bunny."
Tsu had kept Ochako over so they were watching tv in the living room. They had called their parents to let them know of the situation. Needless to say the school got A LOT of calls from frantic parents asking what the school is going to do to protect the students. The school at this point only cancelled today, meaning there is still a day left of class before thanksgiving break. The school was being slow in giving a clear answer, the deans and professors probably arguing over a clear course of action. The gang and many other students decided to not wait for campus permission and are leaving already for thanksgiving. Your bags were packed, you just had to change. Tamaki's luggage sat next to yours as his bag of ingredients lay in the fridge to keep them fresh. He was determined to make a dish for your family to impress them. You smiled at his perseverance; even though he can be painfully shy around new people he wanted to do his best for your parents.
"Tama, we should probably head out soon." You said as you kissed his shoulder. He whined a little, holding you against his chest.
"Can we wait a little longer?"
"Any longer and we'll hit traffic honey."
"I know, it's just a little nerve wrecking. And a lot of nerve wrecking." You gave him a quick peck to get his attention.
"Tama, they're gonna love you! You're sweet, loving, kind, generous, smart, witty, and protective of me. You're perfect Tama, so no need to worry."
He smiled a little. A little unconvincingly, but a smile nonetheless. "Okay then, let's get going bunny."
He grabbed the luggages as you grabbed the bag of ingredients, fresh pork from the butcher, several seasonings, and some wood chips. He intended to make some kind of smoked pork to impress your dad who's the grillmaster of the family. A little risky, but Tamaki is confident in the kitchen, so he was up for the challenge.
You said your goodbyes to the girls before leaving for the rest of the week. You started up your car, and from across the street you could see a bunch of other college kids leaving campus. By bus, taxi, parents picking them up, even just on a bike. Everyone was ready to leave campus. You drove off onto the highway, playing some music to distract yourself from the impending thoughts of what's been going on on campus. Tamaki was also enjoying the music, singing along to a few of the songs he knew. His voice always has that ability to calm you down. You smiled, his adorablevoice making you want to sing too.
The melancholic drive turned into a little karaoke session as Tamaki took the aux cord and played disney songs and throwbacks. You still couldn't get over how perfect he was. How he knew just what to do to make you happy. You were nervous on singing a solo he requested, but you could never say no to his puppy eyes. So you say 'Into the Unknown' for him. He loved hearing you sing, so this was a special treat for him. He smiled so big as you hit the hard notes, noticing how you really began to relax.
His efforts on helping you relax finally paid off. You went off in the solo, giving your all into it. When you finished he couldn't help but gush and blush over how wonderful you were in his eyes. You smile a little, and then have him sing a solo for you. He blushed pretty hard and stuttered, but agreed.
The drive flew by as you approached your neighborhood. You slowed down as you were getting close, reminiscing on the old place. You haven't visited since college started so it's been a few months. You parked in the driveway, ready to hop out and see your parents. Tamaki looked a bit nervous, but excited. You held his hand to give him courage.
"You got this Tama! We can do it!" He nodded and gave a small 'yeah!' Before you both got out of the car. Before you could even open the trunk your mom came out.
"There's my baby!!!" She hurried to give you a hug.
"Hi ma, I missed you too!" You said as she hugged you tight. She soon let go when she noticed Tamaki.
"Oh and this must be the great Tamaki right?"
"Hello ma'am." He said quietly as he stuck his hand out for a handshake.
"Oh c'mere!" She said before pulling him into a hug. He blushed profusely, not used to so much physical contact unless it was you. "It's so nice to finally meet you!" She added before letting him go. His blush was still present as he quietly said 'thank you ma'am.'
"Let's head inside, I'm starving." You said, getting some attention off Tamaki as you moved to open the trunk.
"Of course! Come in come in! We're just finishing up making lunch kiddos. You smiled at your mom as you carried your luggage. Tamaki quickly grabbed your luggage from you, insisting on carrying the heavy things so you can just carry the ingredients.
And so you all headed in for a well deserved meal.
