CHAPTER FIVE: She Crucify

The sound of Caitlyn's muttering and Powders humming filled the spacious bedroom that was in the Kiramman Mansion. Powder kicked her feet in the air as she laid on her stomach on Caitlyn's large bed, watching the taller woman scan over the giant map she had on the ground.

"There has to be a connection..." Caitlyn said quietly. "Whoever attacked the square has to be the same one from the Hexgates, I know it."

Her posh accent was filled with certainty as she twirled a gun with her hand.

Powder held her head up by her hand, looking at Caitlyn lazily.

"Did you see who did it? Like, get a glimpse of them or anything?"

The woman shook her head, dark blue hair swishing around ever so slightly.

"No. I didn't see their face, I only saw that they had pink hair."

Powders feet stilled mid swing as she stared at Caitlyn.

"Pink hair?"

She nodded, beginning to speak again, but Powder had already begun to disassociate, her eyes glazing over with a foggy look as she stared at the the corner of Caitlyn's room.

Her mind had generated the teenage form of her late older sister, and though her eyes were being crossed out with imaginary X's, Powder could tell she was staring at her.

Her sisters words from that night echoed throughout her mind.

"Because you're a Jinx!"

Memories of what had happened flashed through her mind, her breathing slowly beginning to pick up as she avoided her conjured sisters dead gaze.

"-der?"

"Powder?"

The younger blue haired girl snapped out of her trance, looking up at Caitlyn.

"Hm?"

"Are you OK?"

Powder grinned, internally grateful for Caitlyn interrupting her thoughts, as she was about to go into a panic attack, which would've been awkward for both parties.

"I'm good, just spaced out! What were you saying?"

Caitlyn looked hesitant to respond, a concerned look in her eyes, but as she was about to answer, a knock sounded on the door to her room.

"Come in!" The woman called out.

The double doors opened to reveal Jayce, holding a bouquet of flowers as he closed the door.

"How are you doing?" He asked, as the younger woman started approaching him, holding a photo in her hands.

Powder blocked out the conversation, only catching bits and pieces. Something about Caitlyn being fired, Jayce being a Counselor now and offering her a position in security, which Caitlyn refused.

Her focus was put on the map on the ground, then to the pictures Caitlyn had taken at the Hexgates attack.

Powder grabbed them, flipping through the photos, until her gaze zeroed in on one.

The airships sides and ground were dented in, as if being punched by something heavy.

There was also splatters of blood littering the ground, as well as remnants of seemingly a small explosion.

There were small notes in Caitlyn's handwriting next to the picture, which read:

"Damage appears to be caused by cast iron, no further information as to what the weapon itself was. The explosions are small, likely caused by non-lethal arsenal, source of blood is unknown."

Cast iron... It's what Vanders gauntlets were made of...

No that's just a coincidence. Everyone in the Undercity has atleast something made of cast iron. It wasn't uncommon.

Too busy in her own mind, she failed to realize Jayce had left with a defeated and sad look.

Out of the corner of her eye, she's sees Caitlyn, then looks up.

"So, what are you gonna do?"

Caitlyn looks up at her, determined, then sets her eyes back onto the map, looking at where Stillwater prison was located.

"We are going to do some digging."

----------

Vi hummed along to the rock song that was playing loudly over her stereo, bobbing her head along as she mouthed the words occasionally, failing to notice Silco shouting her name behind her as she worked.

She adjusted Claggors goggles on her face, holding up one of the explosives she stole and tore off its metal casing, examining the inside.

Too wrapped up in her current task, she stopped immediately when the music abruptly came to a halt.

"Violet!'

Vi dropped the remnants of the bomb, pushing up the goggles on her face, thus, moving her fringe out of her eyes.

She turned to face Silco, a smile on her face.

"That's my name, and don't forget it."

The man ignored her comment, immediately going to yell instead.

"Half a dozen Enforcers dead! Enforcers! Dead!"

Vi leaned her head on the desk, messing with the bombs metal casing absentmindedly.

"Oh, yeah."

Growing frustrated, Silco snatched the metal out of her hands angrily.

"Do you have any idea what you've done?!"

Vi propped her head up on the desk using her hand.

"How do you know it was me?"

Silco stared at her like she had just grown four heads, before angrily gesturing to the explosive in her hands, then pointed behind her, where the large blue and gold gauntlets rested.

"Oh." She said, before shrugging and digging through one of the pockets sewed onto the legs of her pants.

"Well, to answer your question, I do know what I've done."

She pulled the glowing stone out of her pocket, presenting it to him.

"One of those fancy Topside inventors was keeping it, it's some kind of energy source if my guess is correct."

Silco took the gemstone from her as she stood up, going towards the gauntlets.

"Also, aren't these cool?" She asked, slipping them onto her arms with ease, then lifting them up off the ground.

She turned to the man with a grin on her face, punching the fists of the gauntlets together.

"They're definitely better than Vanders, and will definitely do more damage. What do you think?"

Silco looked up at the young woman, who's eyes were practically gleaming with the question 'are you proud of me?' then sighed, putting the gemstone into a pocket in his vest before opening his arms slightly.

Vi stared at him in shock, before taking the gauntlets off and stepping towards him cautiously.

Once she stood Infront of him, she hesitantly wrapped her arms around his middle and leaned against his shoulder despite them being the same height.

Silco returned the hug, using one hand to rest on the back of her head, and using the other to pat her bare, tattooed and freckled shoulder.

Hugs from Silco were a rare occurrence, despite how much he seemed to care for her, he wasn't very touchy-feely, while Vi craved touch. So, when he offered hugs, it was like the world seemed a bit brighter, for only a moment.

Vi tightened her hold on the man ever so slightly, her cheek squishing against his shoulder, before pulling away.

She looked him in he eyes, searching for his approval.

"Did I do good this time?"

Silco's thin lips upturned into a small smile.

"You certainly did, Violet."

----------

The boat to Stillwater prison rocked against the dark, murky waters as Powder resisted the urge to throw up. Boats really were never her strong suit.

To distract herself, she pulled at the fabric of the cloak wrapped around her shoulders, and fiddled with her hand gun.

Though, a small, light jab in the shoulder from Caitlyn made her stop.

Powder pouted at the older woman, before putting her gun away.

The shorter girl leaned back against the side of the boat, groaning.

"Ugh, I feel like I'm gonna hurl."

Caitlyn patted Powders shoulder.

"We're almost on shore, just hang in there."

And, just like Caitlyn said, they arrived at the shore of Stillwater Prison within five minutes.

Powder scrambled out of the boat, dramatically holding her stomach and dry-heaving.

Caitlyn rolled her eyes playfully and patted the small of Powders back a few times.

"Come on, let's go."

Standing up straight, Powder followed the taller woman inside the large doors of the massive prison.

As they walked in through the entrance, they approached the desk where the Warden sat.

The large, almost purple looking man sneered down at them.

"Can I help you two?" He asked, not so nicely.

Caitlyn cleared her throat, seeming to try and rid herself of nervousness, before speaking.

"We're here to question a prisoner."

The Warden tapped his meaty fingers against the desk impatiently.

"Most folks around these parts don't do alot of talking."

The woman pursed her lips.

"This one was hit by friendly fire. Must've been sent in today?"

Realization dawned on the man's face.

"Oh, yeah, him. About that, I'm afraid that's not possible."

Both Caitlyn and Powder rose a brow.

"Why not? You don't understand, we have to talk to him." Caitlyn reasoned.

The Warden sighed, rubbing the lower part of his face.

"Oh, you'll be able to talk to him. As soon as he's able to move his jaw again."

Furrowing her brows, Caitlyn continued questioning the man.

"What happened?"

Pursing his lips, the man spoke.

"I don't know if you were the one who arrested him or not, but he came in with a shattered jaw, completely unable to use it. It was recent, too. A few hours prior recent."

Both of the girls eyes widened.

"Who assaulted him?" Caitlyn asked.

The Warden shook his head.

"One of Silco's people, his "daughter" to be more specific."

"Silco?" Caitlyn muttered to herself quietly, before looking back up at The Warden.

"Do you know who she is? Do you know why she did it?"

The man above her shrugged.

"Some brawly chick with pink hair and tattoos from what I've heard by all the prisoners in here. Alot of people here we're attacked by her."

Powder blanked out for a second.

There it was again... The pink hair.

"What's her name?" Caitlyn asked.

"Uh... Starts with a V... Vicky, Victoria, something like that..."

"Violet..." Powder murmured.

"Thats it! Violet! But others just call her Vi."

Powder felt her whole world start to fold in on itself, the static in her ears grew louder as her vision fogged.

Vi.

Vi, her sister.

Vi was alive.

She's alive.

She's alive and working for Silco.

She's Silco's daughter.

Taking a large gulp of air, Powder turned on her heel and stormed out of the Prison, ignoring Caitlyn's calls for her to come back.

Her sister was alive.

And she had to find her.
