The next day Marinette woke Adrien up and tried getting dressed. He just groaned and wrapped his arms around her waist, keeping her sitting down.
"Adrien, I need to get dressed. And so do you." She pushed his arms off of her, and she got her bag of shower products.
"I don't want to walk over there to change." He groaned into the pillow.
"Well you'll have to. Now go so I can get ready to hit the showers." Marinette said as she pushed him and Plagg out of the door.
Adrien yawned and stretched on the porch. He looked at the lawn, and saw Nathaniel sitting on the ground drawing something. It looked like he saw Marinette push him out of the room.
"Oh hey Nathan. What's up?" Adrien waved as he walked over.
"Oh, uh, nothing much. I-Is Marinette mad at you?" He asked quietly.
"Her? No. She just needed me to leave so she can get ready for the shower. Have you gotten one yet? I doubt Nino showed you where they are." Adrien motioned for Nino to follow him.
"Get your stuff and meet me at the entrance." Adrien told him. He split for his room, and got changed into a towel and had his bag of soaps. Nathan waited for him in his own clothes, and a small plastic bag. Nathan seemed a little weirded out that Adrien was just going to walk to the showers with a towel around his waist, but he didn't judge.
They walked to a shack to the side, and went through a different entrance.
"These are the guys side of the bathrooms and showers. Get ready and all. We've still got to get to breakfast, and then Marinette and I will work on our project." Adrien joked.
The two got in the showers and finished quickly. Nathan was thinking about how much he'd have to do to catch up with Nino and Adrien. Nathan had not been working out as of late, and he was definitely skinnier than the rest.
The two walked back together, and joined Marinette who was also walking back. She had on a pink robe and he hair was still wet.
"Hello Mi'Lady." Adrien joined her.
"Hey there. Hey Nathaniel." Marinette greeted. The three split off to their rooms to get dressed. Marinette decided on wearing a corset crop top with halter straps. The top was black, and she wore black ripped jeans to accompany it. She found a red and white bandana, which she folded and tied around her neck to add a little color. She thought that the look suited her new hairstyle, and she believed she could use it to make Intulo a little more willing to answer. She topped it off with navy blue lipstick, and just a little bit of mascara.
She hopped out and joined the others in the dinning hall. Nathan and Adrien were there. Adrien wore black jeans and a black tee shirt. Nathan had on a pristine white shirt, a brown cardigan, and blue jeans. Nino showed up in basketball shorts and a random tee shirt. Obviously he had slept in it. Alya just showed up in her pajamas.
"I've never seen you wear black jeans, Adrien. Why the change?" Marinette asked as she sat down across from him.
"Black hides blood stains." He explained shortly.
"Makes sense." She agreed. Master Fu, Alex, and Tony joined them, and they were all able to eat.
The group talked among the table, although Nathan fell silent. His shirt ruffled a little, and a head peeked out.
"Is that Duusu?" Alya asked, pointing to the blue head that poked out of his shirt.
"Y-Yeah. Duusu, you can come out. There are other kwamis here." He told her. Duusu flew out straight to Pollen.
"Hide me." You could hear her whisper.
"She's very shy. A-Although she is nice once you get to know her." Nathan tried to talk on her behalf. Duusu was a little blue creature with peacock feather, and red eyes.
"Aww. She's so cute. What's your masked name?" Alya asked.
"Blu, actually. Not a very original name, I admit." He said quietly.
"Well Nino and Alya will certainly show you exactly where everything is, and explain what has happened. If you have any questions, ask Marinette or Adrien." Alex shined a comforting smile towards him. The group cleaned up, and headed off. Nathan followed Nino and Alya, and began the tour. Alex and Tony went into the room with Intulo, and started their normal questioning. Adrien and Marinette stood around outside, and waited.
"Did you bring any game boards?" Marinette asked Adrien.
"I have Candy Land."
"Bring it here. I'll need it." Adrien ran to his room, and brought the board game.
"Are you going to play a game with the hostage?" Adrien joked.
"Yup. And since he can't move his arms, I'll move his pieces. Simple enough." Marinette explained.
It was an hour until Alex and Tony exited, and then Adrien walked in. He was ruffing him up once again, although it seemed that Adrien was hitting him just a little harder.
Once that session was done, Marinette waited about 5 minutes before entering the room with the board and first aid kit. She acted like she was sneaking in, and closed the door behind herself. She turned the air conditioning and lights on, and set up a table.
"Hello again." She greeted. She placed the board on the table, and the kit on top. She got some antiseptic ready, and cleaned him up again. His lip was split again, with the addition of a slit eyebrow and a bruised jaw.
Marinette iced his face down and cleaned up the blood. She even added some band aids to his cuts.
"I brought a game for us since chit chat was a failure." Marinette set up the board.
"Have you ever played Candy Land?" She asked. She shook his head. It was obvious that he was in pain.
"I have. It's pretty simple. You draw cards and move your piece. One square means you move to that color. Two means you move to the closest corresponding that matches the second square, and a picture means you move to forward or backwards to the picture that matches. Simple!" She explained.
"Even though this is the dumbest thing I have ever laid my eyes on, I have to ask. Why are we playing a board game when I can't move my hands?" He asked, annoyed.
"I'll hand you the deck and you pick the cards. I'll move your piece for you." Marinette told him. She set aside a red gingerbread man for herself, and a green gingerbread man for him. She held the deck up to his bound hands, and made him pick a card. He flashed it unamusingly, and Marinette moved the piece.
"See. This is fun, right?" She asked. Intulo looked bored out of his mind. But Marinette just continued with the game. She would talk to him, even though it was one sided, and speak about her day yesterday. She'd talk about her past, and about her parents.
"We own this bakery- well we did own it. It's not open now that they're gone. But anyways, we owned this bakery, and everyone loved it. I would take some shifts after school, and it was really fun just watching people come and go. Sometimes it was a hassle, especially during lunch hour, but it was still fun." She told him. He ended up relaxing around Marinette, and he listened to her.
"Isn't working a bakery hard? Wouldn't you rather work as a model?" He questioned. She definitely had the body and looks for it. He wondered why she wasn't on a runway.
"I tend to stick to making the clothes. I actually sew my own creations. Gabriel Agreste showed a lot of interest in me awhile ago. Although he's in jail now, so I won't be working for him anytime soon." She explained.
"Why is he in jail?"
Marinette laid on the ground and stretched her arms out. She pointed to her ribs.
"He broke my ribs and bruised my hips on multiple occasions. And he tortured me. It was not the best experience. I still have a slight dent in my ribs from where they healed." She rubbed over the small dent.
"Here." She untied his left hand, and pressed it to her bottom ribs. He definitely felt the dent and nodded. Marinette was laughing a storm in her mind. In the span of two days, he was talking to her and showing interest in conversations. She tied his hand down again and sat down next to the board. It was her turn, and she neared the end.
"Do you want revenge on him? That must have hurt severely." He asked curiously.
"At first I wished I could break every bone in his body. He mentally abused me as well while I was tied up. But then I realized why he did what he did, and I forgave him. I will never forget what he did, but I won't hold a grudge. It isn't the easiest thing seeing as he's my boyfriends father, but we'll see how it goes. He's getting out of jail in 5 years, so there's plenty of time for the water to sit." She flashed him a smile. She made Intulo pick a card, and he was right at the finish line. One space away from winning.
"Personally, I like it better when others win. It gives you something to strive for in the end." Marinette moved his piece one more square, and it landed on the finish line.
"You win." She laughed. It seemed her laugh was infectious, because Intulo found himself smiling slightly as well. In the midst of laughter, he said something.
"My name is Koto Guen." He told her through a smile. She stopped laughing.
"Your name?"
"Yeah. My name is Koto Guen." He repeated. She smiled.
"That's a nice name. Koto. Has a nice ring to it." She grinned through pearly white teeth.
"I think I'll have to go. The others are probably wondering where I am." She packed up the board and kit. She switched the air conditioning and lights off, and slipped out of the room.
"Nice work. Koto Guen." Adrien high-fived her.
"Everything is going to plan. Where's Nathaniel?" She asked, looking around.
"In the woods. We should join them." He tugged her. Marinette ran back to her room to change into some black track shorts and a black sports bra with a white shirt. It was her everyday work out shirt, and she had not cleaned anything else. She tied on some track shoes at the entrance, and the two ran up the stairs to meet them. Tikki and Plagg flew fast to catch up with them, and they soon met up with the group. Everyone was in their suits, so the two suited up and walked over.
"Hey there." Marinette waved.
"Hey girl." Alya waved back excitedly. Nathaniel was all suited up and stood there awkwardly.
His suit was dark blue, and he had light blue feather designs from his fingers to his elbows, and feet to knees. He had a light blue cape which had designs on them that resembled the tail of a peacock. His hair was tied back in a ponytail, and the barrette clipped his bangs away.
"Oooh. What are your powers?" Adrien asked. Nathan presented a peacock feather, and he started drawing in the air. She made the outline of a chair, and a chair appeared. It was solid and he was able to sit in it.
"So like Volpina except you can actually fool people." Marinette joked, earning a smack on the arm from Alya.
"Well my illusions only last a couple of minutes before disintegrating." He said quietly.
"What else can you do?" Marinette asked. She sat on the ground and crossed her legs, waiting for him to present his powers.
"I-I have a bow and arrow." He ripped his cape off and crumbled it up. In a blue glow, he extended his arms, and a bow and arrow appeared. The bow was translucent, and the arrow was a sharp peacock feather. He aimed the arrow towards a tree, and shot it. It stuck. He ran towards it, and grabbed on. He was able to swing up from it, and land on a branch. Although his landing was a little rough, he climbed back down.
"Cool." Nino clapped. The others clapped along, which made him blush.
"For being out of the game, you still have the moves." Alya told him proudly.
"Yeah. I'm just not a big brute person. I like using my brains instead of bronze." He whispered.
The others understood. They couldn't imagine him as an upfront fighter.
"Well Nino can't really fight. I mean he can smack people around with his shield, but that's about it. You can be our sniper. That'll be so cool!" Adrien thought aloud. He was getting excited from thinking about the new mission styles.
The group went deeper into the woods, and played around. It took a little bit, but Nathaniel soon joined, and he was playing around with them.
They headed back to the dojo for dinner, and then the others went to bed. Just as Marinette was walking to her room with Adrien, Tony caught her by the arm.
"Alex and I wanted to speak with you for a moment." He told her. Adrien nodded and headed into the room. Tony brought Marinette a little ways away where Alex was.
"Have you made any progress with Intulo?" Alex asked.
"I got a name. Koto Guen. But don't use that name around him or he won't trust me. He is trusting me more and more, so I can get more information out of him." Marinette told them.
"That's great. While we were conducting our tests with the lie detectors, we know a little bit about him. He was abused as a kid and he is also into fashion. We also found out some of the things he looks for in women." Alex told her excitedly.
"How many questions did you ask to find that out?" Marinette asked surprised.
"A lot. We were very thorough." Tony sighed. "He likes the ditzy type of girl, is fond of glasses, and likes girls that are sweet. Indecisive could be another description. We believe that growing up around rich empowered women makes him fond for those who are not so strong."
Marinette made a mental note of this. She could definitely use this information. She had been going about her scheme a little differently, but it could be easily changed.
"Thank you. I know how to change a little so this process can speed up." Marinette thanked them then ran back to her room.
"Adrien! I found out something about Koto!" She exclaimed happily.
"What did you find out?" Adrien asked as he was packing some clothes up.
"He likes ditzy, indecisive, nerd girls. All I've got to do is change a little, and he'll be eating out of the palm of my hand. But I need you to do something for me." She rummaged through her bag, and pulled out a pair of big round glasses that had a thin black frame. She placed them on her face, and stood up front of him.
"I need you to give me a shiner right here." She pointed to the area where the glasses and her cheek bone meet.
"You must be crazy if you think I will punch you. I could never hurt you." He claimed.
"Fine. Then I'll ask someone else to do it." She walked out of the room and knocked on Nino's door. She asked, but he denied. He didn't want to ask Alex or Tony since they would probably give her a concussion, so she turned to Nathaniel since Alya couldn't aim for her life.
"Nathaniel. Open up, I need a favor." She knocked on his door. Nathan opened it. His hair was down now, covering his face.
"I need you to punch me right here." Pointing to her cheekbone.
"W-Why do you want me to punch you?" He asked.
"Okay, so have you ever read the comic books about Harley and the Joker?"
He nodded, remembering the story.
"I'm doing what Joker did to Harleen with our hostage, except I'm the Joker and he's Harleen. It's hard to explain, but I need a shiner." She explained poorly. Nathaniel hesitated.
"Have you tried punching yourself?"
"It won't be as real as a real punch. Can you just please punch me? I asked and they wouldn't." Marinette clasped her hands together and begging.
"Alright. But I'm only doing this since you need me to." Marinette stood still as Nathaniel drew his fist back. He punched her in the face, making her stumble back.
"A-Are you okay!?" He stepped forward. Marinette held her cheek.
"Perfect! It'll be bruised by tomorrow! Thank you Nathan." She thanked, walking back to her room.
She took the glasses off, and was able to see a faint line where the glass had cracked. She placed the glasses on the stand, and crawled into bed with Adrien.
"Goodnight Mi'Lady."
"Goodnight Chatton."
