Planning

I open my eyes to a figure standing at the bottom of my bed. I let out a quick squeal before my eyes focused and recognized the figure as Janet. She giggles as I clutch the sheets closer to me.

"Wake up princess, we've got a big day ahead." She smiles.

"What do you mean? I don't have anything planned today." I stretch.

"Oh yes you do, Latoya scheduled meetings with 3 different coordinators to help pick the best colors for the wedding."

"What?" I say, still trying to register everything. "How did you even get in here?" I ask.

"Bill let me in, now come on get up!" She says shaking my bed.

"Alright alright I'm coming." I groan. After getting dressed, I sit in the back of Janet's car to see Latoya and Rebbie greeting me with a smile. "Hi bride to be." Rebbie waves. I give a polite smile to the both of them. "Wait until you meet Pierre. I think you'll love him! All you've gotta do is tell him your vision and he'll make it happen!" Latoya says excitedly. "But I don't know my vision yet.." I explain.
"He'll help pull it out of you." Rebbie grins.

We slowly pull into a small driveway. A short blonde man greets us at the office door.

"Latoya! How are you my love!" He exclaims, pecking both cheeks. I couldn't help but giggle at how generically Hollywood this guy was.

"Hi Pierre! This is my future sister in law Rayne." Pierre grabs my hand, planting a small kiss on it. Examining my ring, he releases a gasp, "this is exquisite! It's so intricate. Randy must love you to bits!"

I frown in confusion.

"No no, not that brother. This is Michael's fiancé." Janet giggles, Pierre chuckles, "of course! My apologies. Come in! Let's sit and chat." He drags me inside with Michael's sisters trailing behind us.

"Pierre, I'm gonna be honest... I've never done anything like this before. So I'm a little lost on what to do."  I admit

"Not to worry. I'll just ask you some questions and we'll figure it out. Now, what's your favorite color?" He asks, pulling out a notepad and pencil.

"Uh I love the cream tan color.."

"What about Michael?"

"Oh, his is red."

"Well there's your colors! Now I need you to be completely honest with me. How do you feel about Michael? Give me your love story." Pierre says, scribbling notes onto the note pad.

"I don't even know how to start. He's irreplaceable to me. His personality shines brighter than anyone I've ever met, and I've never felt so lucky to say he's my fiancé. He's my first thought in the morning and my last thought at night. He's shown me a love nobody else could ever describe to me. He makes me so angry with the things he does but he knows how to keep me calm. I honestly never thought we'd get to this point in our lives together. Michael is the kind of guy whose love just fills you completely with happiness and you don't ever think a person could have that affect on you but they do. It's something you never get used to. I still get butterflies when I see him. He's my soulmate."

Latoya and Janet release a long sigh, there faces plastered with grins. As Pierre finished writing, he swooned slightly. "That was beautiful. I'll have some things drawn up for you in two days and we'll look over it together. If you honestly feel that way about him and he feels like this about you... You two will last forever. I just know it."

"Thank you." I shake his hand and stand to leave. We sit back in the car headed to the next location of wherever they were dragging me. This must've been what Michael meant.

"How's Michael anyway? Do you know what state he's in now?" Latoya asked.

"Yeah, he's in DC right now. I talk to him almost every night, don't you?" I frown.

"No." Janet laughs, "we're not his fiancé."

"But you guys are family..he should talk to you all a little more." I fold my arms.

"Michael has been like that since he was little, he's always been to himself. You've definitely begun opening him up." Rebbie says.

I simply grin and watch as we pull into a cake station. "Oh ladies, I don't want a big extravagant cake something small will do just fine." I hesitate. "Oh come on! we're gonna give you a dream wedding Ray. Big wedding, big cake, big gown! Everything!" Latoya grins, locking her arm in mine. I sigh inwardly

"I designed my own gown. The sketch is at a designer's in Northern California." I explain.

"Ok, so I'll cancel the third meeting." Janet says.

We walk inside this almost refrigerated room to see mountains of cakes. I clutch my arms to warm myself watching as Latoya peeks around calling the bakers name.

"Christine! Your 2 o'clock is here!" She says.

"Toya? Hey honey!" Christine smiles, hugging her from a distance. Cake batter splattered all over her apron. She walks over to me and shakes my hand. "You're Michael's fiancé? Of course you are! You're gorgeous!congratulations!"

"Yes, I'm Rayne. Thank you so much." I smile.

"Christine, Rayne says she doesn't want a big extravagant cake. Nothing over the top." Janet says.

"But, we want it to be noticeable!" Latoya adds.

"But, this isn't your wedding Toya..." Janet responds.

I sigh a sigh of relief, at least Janet knows this is my wedding.

"How about we look at the designs and you tell me how big you want it?" Christine says, placing a hand on my shoulder.

***

I drop my bags in the middle of the floor and flop on the couch beside me as Bill follows me inside with two more shopping bags. He chuckles, "Mike's sisters run you tired today?"

"God, it's crazy how much stuff they had planned. I almost went crazy." I muffle into the couch pillow.

"Did you need anything else before I head back to the trailer?" He asked.

"No, thanks Bill." I whine.

I sat in bed flipping through channels and saw something about Michael on television saying he passed out during his rehearsals. An instant panic rushes through me. I run out towards Bill's trailer. "Bill! Bill!" I call out.

"What's wrong?" He says, running out, his hand on his gun.

"Get in touch with Michael, right now."

"What's going on?" He asks dialing, the other security guard, Leon's number.

"Michael passed out.. Please get in contact with someone." I whine. Bill nods with the phone resting on his ear.

"This is Leon."

"What's going on with Michael? Why didn't you tell me?" Bill says angrily.

"I'm sorry boss, it just happened. We're in the hospital now."

"You should've called immediately! Is he ok?"

"He's better, he was dehydrated, exhausted and hasn't eaten in two days. They're rehydrating him now."

"Let me talk to him, please." I whine.

"We'll talk once you've gotten back here Leon, but put Michael on the phone his Fiancé wants to talk to him." Bill says passing me the phone and returning to his trailer.

"Hello?" Michael says quietly.

"Mike, baby are you ok?" I ask concerned.

"I'll be alright, I'm just a little overworked. I'll be fine with a little rest."

"And food! Michael you need to eat, you burn too many calories a night to not eat." I fuss.

"I know Ray. I just haven't had the time."

"Make the time. I need you to come back home to me good and healthy. Then when you get here I'll feed you anything you want." I grin.

He chuckles, "ok, I'll make the time to eat. Promise. How have things been?"

I proceeded to tell him about the adventures his sisters took me on and he could not stop laughing. "I told you, you've gotta put your foot down with them or they'll control the whole thing. Janet can only calm Latoya down so much. You have to speak up baby.. the nurse is here. I'll call you later, I love you."

"I love you more." I respond

"Impossible." He says before hanging up.

I couldn't sleep at all just knowing Michael was in a hospital across the country. I wanted to just go see him but I couldn't. I used this day to spend time with my father. I went over to his house that morning and made him breakfast.

"Dad we should go get you fitted today." I say.

"For what?"

"Your suit for my wedding." I giggle.

"You're getting married?" He gasps.

"Dad, that's not funny." I giggle tossing a napkin at him.

He chuckles, "you laughed. I can't wait to give you away."

"You're not gonna cry are you?" I smirk. My dad was such a crybaby, so if he didn't cry it would surprise me. "I want you to see my dress too, the designer says it's ready for its first set of alterations. I'm so excited to see it." I squeal.

We finally make our way to the designer after fitting my dad for his tux. Gloria La'reaux, one of Michael's favorite designers, met us at the door to greet me. She was an older woman, about my father's age and she wore her hair in a black bob with her grey streaks blending perfectly. She was a beautiful shade of brown, and by the looks of my father he was clearly interested.

"Rayne, come on in, your dress is on the mannequin. Is this your father?" She asks, a smirk on her face. Before I could even confirm, my father introduced himself. I just giggled, "I'll let you two get acquainted." I go to examine my dress. It was exactly what I wanted, a shorter front with a trail of sheer fabric as my train. A small diamond attached the train to the dress at the center, a simplistic detail I wanted. If my wedding was going to be extravagant, my dress being simple was perfect. I couldn't wait to put it on.

I stepped on the small box to allow Gloria to tailor the dress, my father sat and looked at me wiping a tear from his eye. "You look radiant Rayne." He smiles.

"Thank you daddy." I reply. "Gloria, you designed this perfectly. I love it. You think Mike will love it?" I ask.

"He definitely will. You look amazing in it and after I alter these changes. You'll look even better." I honestly couldn't wait to get married, I only hoped the rest of the wedding goes as smooth as the dress.
