Lock and Key

~Rayne's POV

As soon as we exited the airport, I could tell this was going to be an overwhelming week. Bill and his security team surrounded us as we walked through a sea of fans and cameras. I could barely see through the flashes. Once we were safely in the limo, I took a deep breath.

"I told you it was a lot harder to travel with me now..." Michael says with a chuckle. "You weren't kidding." I agree, brushing my hair back into place with my fingers. "Where are we going?"

"We're going to the hotel to get settled first, I have a meeting after that but you're probably tired, so you can stay and rest if you want." He smiles. I nod, as much as I wanted to stay by his side today, jet lag was kicking in already. I look out the window at my surroundings. Tall buildings blocking the view of the wide open sky. I mutter to myself, "so different from Cali." Michael chuckles.

Michael had rented an entire floor out of the hotel. We made our way to the room, but I made it a point to walk further. "Hey where are you going?" He asked as I continued to walk to the next room.

"I think it'd be best for us to be in separate rooms. So we don't have any temptations, you know? I'll be right next door." I smile.

"What temptation?"

I smirk at him with an eyebrow raised before he reluctantly agreed. I continued dragging my suitcase inside and flopping on my pillows.

They felt like clouds right now.

***
"Hey, wake up." I feel a small hand on my back and a light voice in my ear. I grumble a little, pulling the pillow over my head. "Wake up sweetheart." Michael giggles. My eyes slowly open to his warm smile "come on it's like 2 in the afternoon."

"Which means it's only 11 in California" I whine.

"Still seems like a reasonable time to get out of bed."

I groan, pushing my hair out of my face. "Fine.." Michael lays next to me, his forehead pushed onto my cheek, a small smile on his face. "What are you doing?" I ask.

"Hoping this trip will convince you that I will never hurt you the way I did again." He responds, laying an arm across my chest and pecking my forehead. I sigh, "I just need time.." "I know." He pulls me closer to him, snuggling into my side.

"Oh no, no cuddling." I say, jumping out of bed.

"What? Why not?"

"Cuddling leads to kissing and kissing leads to.. You know!" I explain. "That's why we need separate rooms. Now out." I say pushing him toward the door.

"Fine fine fine... After I get some rest, we're going out to eat." He says walking out.

"Can't we stay in, order room service and I can finally finish Peter Pan instead? Just for tonight?" I smile sweetly. I was excited to be in a new state but that flight still had me beat. I could stay in tonight. "I'll even come to your room, but once the movies over I have to leave!" I say.

"Alright. I really wish you'd reconsider this separate room thing." He grins, closing the door behind him. I shut my door satisfied at my self control. As much as I wanted to have sex with Michael, my dad's advice kept repeating and I refused to let Michael weaken my ability to not need him. I held the power right now.

~Michael's POV

I had one of my bodyguards grab a copy of Peter Pan for Rayne and ordered a bucket of KFC. Rayne walked in my room, a small giggle coming from her lips.

"KFC?" She asks.

"You said 'whatever I want'" I laugh, she shrugs, grabbing a wing and digging in. It was something about her that made me smile, she wasn't doing anything but eating and I found myself grinning. I grab a leg and start peeling the skin off.

"What are you doing?" She says, her mouth full with chicken.

"Taking off the skin so it's organic. Gotta eat healthy." I smile. She laughs quietly. "Mike, just because you're taking the skin off, doesn't make it organic." She shakes her head.

"Believe what you wanna believe. I enjoy it this way.." I say quietly, as she continues to giggle.

Rayne answered my bodyguard, Leon, at the door as he passed her the vhs tape. "The movie is here." She announces, practically skipping to the television set. I sit on my bed moving pillows around to get comfortable as she soon joins me, grabbing a blanket for herself. A lone pillow separating us.

Once again, she's asking me constant questions. I couldn't do anything but laugh, "did you pay attention to the movie the last time you watched it? At all?" I ask. "Oh come on Mike, that was 3 years ago. I forgot." She says, pouting. I explain everything once again.

Wendy: Peter. You won't forget me, will you?

Peter: Me? Forget? Never.

Wendy: Will you ever come back?

Peter: To hear stories... About me.

The TV blared, suddenly I felt an arm tighten around mine. I look over to see Rayne fast asleep snuggled on my arm, her cheek pressed against my shoulder. I sat for a minute and thought about waking her up. She looked so peaceful, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I plant a kiss on her forehead and switch the TV off, wrapping an arm around her to keep her next to me. For the first time in the past two weeks, she cuddled me back. I was determined to fix us.

*The Next Morning*

"Did I fall asleep on the ending again?" I hear her mumble underneath my chin. I stroke her back lightly, releasing a small stretch. "Yeah. You did." I grin. She chuckles, "I'm sorry..maybe another ti-" she starts before moving herself off the bed.

"What happened?" I frown.

"Why am I here? I need to be in my room.. Why didn't you wake me up?" She asks.

I scoff, sitting upright, "I don't know. You were sleeping and you looked comfortable. I-"

"Michael I told you I need time."

"I know that, but-"

"So next time if I fall asleep in here, please wake me up. Ok?" She asks calmly. I simply give her a nod. I didn't wanna ruin this day before it even started with an argument.

"What's the plan for today?" She asks.

"I've got an interview with JET magazine in the hotel lobby at 11 and then I wanted to do some quick shopping before I meet my new leading lady for my short film." I explain.

"Leading lady? Let's hope she's not another Ola Ray.." Rayne snickers.

"I haven't met her yet." I shrug, "go get dressed and let's get breakfast." Rayne retreats back to her room as I called Karen in to start covering my vitiligo spots.

"Oh." Karen says quietly.

"What?"

"There's a new patch here on your back." She says, blotting the cream foundation on me.

"Are you serious?" I groan. "It's spreading faster than I thought. I'll be white by the time I'm 30!" I say angrily.

"I don't think so Mike, that's only 2 years from now." Karen smiles.

"2 years is a long time." I mutter as she places make up on my face.

"People will still love you Mike." She says, focused on my face.

"The media already starts rumors about me, they'll have a field day with this.." I roll my eyes.

After breakfast, Rayne and I walk in to the closed off portion of the hotel lobby to meet with the interviewer. "I like this jacket. I just might swipe this out of your closet." Rayne says, giggling. "Yeah right." I respond playfully.

"Mr. Jackson, hi, I'm Daryll. I'll be interviewing you today." Daryll greets us extending a hand for me to shake.

"No need to be so formal, you can call me Michael. This is my uh... My.." I say gesturing to Rayne. "I'm his friend, Rayne." She smiles shaking his hand. It's been a long time since I called her my friend. This was a huge step back. Rayne takes a seat next to Frank and the watch my interview closely.

The interview was pretty quick, and Daryll seemed to familiarize himself with my short film "Bad." We spoke about my album and how its release is highly anticipated, before finally wrapping it up with info about a tour.

"I had a store closed off for us to shop." I smile as we head to the car. "Ooh special treatment huh?" She teases. I chuckle, "maybe so."

The store manager greeted us at the front door with the security gate pulled down. As soon as Rayne and I began shopping, more and more fans started flooding to the gate. I simply smile at them, giving an occasional wave. Rayne still wasn't used to so much attention, she made a point to hide behind Bill most of the time.

I come across a pearl necklace that I know mother would love and pick it up, there was a set of emerald earrings and matching bracelet for Latoya and a bracelet for Rebbie. Janet seemed to like rings more than necklaces so I grabbed a silver diamond ring for her. I wanted to buy Rayne something too, but it had to mean something.. Something more than just a piece of jewelry.

"Michael, Tatiana is on her way. We should get on the road." Bill says. I nod as Rayne and I head back to the hotel.

"I'm gonna go back to my room and get ready for dinner, I don't think you need me there to meet anyone.." She smiles walking to the elevator. "Ok, I'll come by when it's over." I smile sweetly back at her.

Frank and Tatiana met with Bill and I in the same lobby I had my interview in earlier today. I have to say Tatiana was gorgeous. Beautiful big eyes, long curly hair, nice long legs, she was  just my type. I give her a broad smile standing to give her a friendly hug, and she returns with a grin. "Michael Jackson, how nice to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you!" I smile, biting my lip.

She releases a giggle before interrupting my gaze. "The director explained the concept of the video and it seems so exciting. I hope I fit your vision."

"Oh yeah, you're perfect. I just wanted to meet with you myself, I'm glad I did."

"Same here." She smirks. "I'll see you in two days at the video shoot, Maybe earlier." She sneaks a wink before she walks out of the hotel and I make my way to my room. "Did she just?"

"She did." Frank confirms, a sly grin on his face. He pats my back, "She wants you Mike." He laughs.

I enter my room with all of my gifts to my mother and sister wrapped as I asked my other bodyguard to do. All I had to do was write something nice to each of them.

Looking at Rayne's jewelry, I wrote my most heartfelt emotions and feelings for her. Then took a shower and redressed for dinner with Rayne. I knocked on her door, her perfume hit me as soon as she opened. As always she looked amazing, her shirt revealing her belly button while her pants hung in her hips perfectly, a blazer hanging over her shoulders.

"Are you wearing heels?" I giggle. "Yeah, why?"

"Nothing, you seem taller tonight." I laugh.

"Oh shut up." She giggles.

As always, the camera flashing through the restaurant window, seemed to annoy Rayne. Surprisingly she gave a smile and wave to them, I raise my eyebrows. She looks at me, a smile still on her face, "I'm in a better mood tonight."

"How come?"

"I don't know. Tonight just feels special." She shrugs. "It might be." I grin. Before we left I asked Leon my other bodyguard to sit Rayne's gift and love letter in her room. I was extremely nervous but I hope she loved it.

"So how was your meeting with your new leading lady?" She asks.

Honestly, I was so distracted by wanting Tatiana, I don't even remember the meeting that well. "It went well, she's just another Ola." I lied, stuffing a baked piece of chicken in my mouth to cover my facial expression.

~Rayne's POV

I keep having this feeling that something special is gonna happen tonight. I can't seem to shake it. Maybe it's the way Michael has been looking at me all day, it's something. After saying goodnight to Michael, I enter my room. I do miss the comfort of sleeping with someone, having arms wrapped around you? And just knowing someone is there. But, I stand by my decision. I won't let my feelings change how I've become a much stronger person.

After my shower I noticed a box wrapped on my bed with a small note next to it. I grab the note reading it.

"The last time I gave you a letter it was to say goodbye.

Truth be told, I don't know what to say to you. I literally love everything about you, and it'd be kind of cliché to point everything out. I have given you possession of my heart and my soul. My love does not come easy but for you it  seems to overflow. I'm desperate for you to trust me and know that I never want to hurt you. I want you to be happy. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to earn that trust back.

I bought you a set of necklaces, one a lock, the other a key. I want you to keep both until you think I'm worthy of holding that key, and once you give it to me I promise you there will never be a reason for you to take it back. This might even seem cheesy, but know that I'm trying my best. Love Michael."

"Oh Mike.." I mumble, a small smile on my face. I open the box to see the two necklaces side by side. Michael knows exactly how to get a reaction out of me, be it good or bad. My heart skips a beat as he opens the door to his room.

"I just came by to say thank you. This was really thoughtful of you." I smile.

"You're welcome. I know you need time and I'm not expecting you to give me that key. This gift was more for you to know I'm trying." He says.

I grab him closer to me, his lips closing in on mine before we finally touch.

He slowly removed my shirt, kissing every inch of my skin he reveals. My arms reach to remove his shirt as he pulls my pants off. His lips meet my neck once more while I run my hand through his hair. He settles himself and slowly enters inside of me. I release a long moan, it's been 3 years since I've had his touch. This time I wasn't stopping. I wanted him. "I love you." He managed to whisper through his breathes in my ear, causing me to grip him tighter around me. My legs tighten around him. He pushes his lips onto mine once more, hanging on to my bottom lip. His breathing grows heavier and heavier as he begins to speed up in his movement, my body returns the rhythm. I wrap by hands around his neck as my eyes meet his one last time, before my body starts trembling. I release one more squeal of pleasure. My body goes limp as he reaches his climax.

I giggle while we both regain our breathing control. "You've been holding out on me." I joke. "That was better than any other time we've ever done it."

"That's because you've been fighting me for the past 2 weeks." He grins, as he cradled me into his arms, my face nestled into his chest.

"Does this mean you'll come back and share a room with me. Just think, we could do this every night." He jokes.

I stopped to think for a while. I'm not sure I wanted to stay in the same room as him for a while. I won't let this moment of weakness change my decision. "We have a lot to work on. So I think I'll stay in my room. This won't get fixed in a day. But I know you're trying.."

I hear him release a defeated sigh. "Ok." He says. I wanted to get up and go to my room, but my legs couldn't make me move from this comfortable spot that held me down against his chest. The lullaby that was his heartbeat kept me closer to him and I couldn't help but fall asleep in the arms that used to hold me every night. I missed him so much, my heart just wouldn't repair on its own.

Hey, just a filler chapter, sorry it's kind of boring. Lol
