~Rayne's POV

The whole night, I was awake, crying my eyes out. I even called Sharlissa, hoping she'd have some kind of answer for me.

"I don't know what to do." I sniffle. "Why would he do that to me?"

"Rayne I'm so sorry that happened. You know he loves you, which is probably why he held out on you in the first place."

"That doesn't make it right. He had the nerve to ask me if I would marry him!" I scoff.

"Wait, he proposed to you?"

"Not necessarily.." I sigh. "He told me that if none of this happened, he was going to propose. But after he... Did what he did, he didn't buy the ring."

"If he'd have proposed... Would you have?" Sharlissa asks.

"If you'd have asked me last month, I wouldn't have a doubt. Now, I can't even be near him." It breaks my heart to even say words like this about him. "I'm coming home tomorrow. Will you pick me up from the airport?" I ask, holding back more tears.

"You're leaving?? No way, have you even talked to him? Like honestly talked to him about this? Or did you just shut down and tell him you don't wanna talk about it, like you usually do?"

I sigh, I know I never really spoke with him. I was so mad I didn't care what he had to say. "I shut him down." I mutter. "I'll go talk to him and if it goes well enough, I'll stay."

Sharlissa wishes me good luck before I hang up. I open the door, sluggishly dragging my feet towards Michael's room. I rub my dry, red, post-crying eyes and knock softly on his door attempting not to wake the rest of the concert staff on this floor.

I prayed silently that he was sleeping and didn't answer the door, just so I could tell Sharlissa I tried. But of course, he opens the door, looking like he'd been up all night as well. I didn't know what to say to him, and neither did he. He simply allowed me in, closing the door behind me.

"Um.." He says quietly, running his hand through his curls. His eyes follow me cautiously, watching me move around the room.

"I wanna talk. Like actually sit and listen to each other. I thought about it... And I never gave you a real chance to explain yourself." I turn to him, crossing my arms.

Michael sits on his bed, his head in his hands. "I really don't have an explanation for what happened Ray. I can't deny it, I can only tell you everything." He says, staring at me.

I take a seat at the table opposite the bed, "ok.. So what happened?" I ask shakily, preparing my mind for the worst.

"The first time anything happened, it was after the video shoot. She came to my room and-"

"This was when I was sitting in the room and you told me, we couldn't go out because you had something to do?" I interrupted, my eyes already becoming glossy.

"...yeah" he responds quietly. I scoff before he continues. "She came to my room, we drank a little and we got a little physical. But, I couldn't do it. You were literally all I could think about and I told her to leave. That's why I came to your room." I couldn't believe him, I was so angry, I wanted to storm out right then and there. But I told him we'll talk.

"Do you have feelings for her?" I ask. "No" he responds. "Rayne, I love the hell out of you, and I know I've said this 20 times but I never want to hurt you."

"But you did."

"I know and I'm sorry. But don't give up on us like this. Don't just leave me."

"Michael, I don't wanna give up on us at all. But we're back at square one. I don't trust you. You waited so long to tell me. Which is why I'm so angry. Things were going so well with us. You don't need to hide things from me. We're not kids anymore, I won't get mad every time something happens."

"I planned on telling you, I just felt so guilty in doing it to you. We'll get back to where we were. I'll work my hardest to bring us back. I promise." He says, kneeling in front of me.

I shake my head, "I can't even trust you'll keep that promise." Michael wipes my face of a tear with his thumb, before standing me up on my feet and holding me close to him. His hand palming the back of my head. I couldn't help but hold him back, no matter how angry I was.

"I'm sorry, I never meant for any of this to happen. If you want to leave, I understand."

I wouldn't be over this tomorrow, I wanted to just go home and think on this myself, while he was on tour. After our embrace, he plants a kiss on my forehead. "I still love you Mike." I assure him. "I love you too." He responds before I close the door behind me.

As soon as I walk in my house the phone rings. "I just can't get a break!" I groan. Sharlissa drags in another suitcase behind me and offers to grab the phone. "Hello? Yeah she's here, who's calling? Ray, there's a Derrick on the phone for you." She yells.

I practically run to the phone, "Derrick?" I answer.

"Hey! Where have you been? I've been calling you since Monday!" He says.

"I've been out of town. But I'm home now, what's going on?"

"I'm moving to California in your city!"

"What??" I say excitedly.

"Leah got a new job out there so we've been slowly moving our things in our new house and Leah, who is holding our new baby and myself  will be there tomorrow morning" he says, his smile showing through his words.

"Did you say a new baby?? Oh wait 'til you get here! You never told me Leah was pregnant! I've got a friend here so I've gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow! You guys should come for dinner."

"Sounds like a plan. I'll see you later Ray!"

Well that just lifted my mood completely, maybe I can talk to him about what's happening and get a male perspective. "So, who's Derrick?" Sharlissa asks, a silly smirk on her face. I scoff. "Nobody like that, he's my best friend. We've been friends since we were like, 4."

"So.. Are you gonna get a little revenge on good ol' MJ?" She grins. "No!" I gasp. "Besides Derrick is married." "Oh. I guess. Well I've gotta go, Brielle is at her grandmother's and I wanna get some things done while she's over there."

"Ok.. Thanks for your help." I respond locking the door behind her. My dad had no idea I was home, I kind of didn't want him to know either. No matter how old I get, my father has no problem telling off anybody who hurts me. I didn't want my dad to hate Michael. I don't hate Michael, I'm just really really really REALLY angry at him. I refuse to sit and dwell on this any longer. Grabbing my suitcases, I drag them in my room slowly unpacking my clothing.

~Michael's POV (remember MJ is in another country, so the time difference may get confusing. If it's morning where Rayne is, its night where Michael is.)

Rayne left yesterday morning and honestly I wanted to go home too. My heart wasn't in this tour anymore. Frank had Bill bring me to this Japanese club, where it was rented out as an after party spot for the tour staff, but I'm not having any fun. I'm glad my staff gets to let loose for a while and forget whatever troubles they may have, this is only closing my problems in.

I'm lonely.

"Michael, grab a beer! Live a little! We're almost done with the first leg of our show!" Frank says, pushing a drink in my hands. I place it on the small table in front of me. "No thanks Frank. I've never been a big fan of alcohol."

"You know MJ, you can't sit and mope about one girl." Frank starts, placing his arm around my shoulder. His breath smelled like he had one too many. I roll my eyes, knowing that a long pointless story was coming. "Look at all these ladies that we work with. Dancers, singers, even ladies backstage. You've got so many choices! I mean you are Michael Jackson, you could have any girl you want. Raven is not the only girl in the world."

"Her name is Rayne." I say over the blaring music, which happened to be mine. He knew her name, he was just drunk.

"Either way. She's not the only girl. Sucks we had to get rid of Tatiana.. She was a hot little number." Frank's says, gulping down another drink. Finally Frank left me the way I'm used to being, alone. I wanted to just leave. A young Japanese lady came and sat next to me quietly, "do you mind if I sit here?" She asks.

"No go right ahead." I say politely, shifting myself to give her more space.

"Clubs just aren't my thing." She says. "Me neither." I add. "What's your name?" I ask.
"Akira, I'm your translator for interviews." She smiles meekly. "Oh. I'm sorry. I should remember your name. My mind hasn't been where it should be recently." I explain.

"That's perfectly fine. Is everything alright? If you don't mind me asking."

"Girlfriend troubles." I say acting as if it wasn't a big deal.

"Wanna talk about it?" She asked. After that one statement, I ended up telling her everything. Akira was exactly what I needed, an ear.

She even started giving me advice on what to do. "You sound like such a great boyfriend, I can tell you're a good person. She's probably more angry at the fact you kept a secret from her, but I'm sure she understands why you did it. Your girlfriend will forgive you. Just let her have her time. Maybe give her a call tomorrow, but don't talk about the situation, just talk to her. Remind her why you guys love each other so much. Girls are weird creatures, we know what we want, we just don't know how to explain it. We just want you guys to figure it out for us." She chuckles. "I hope I helped."

"You did.. Thank you." I smile.

"Is your girlfriend the one who punched Tatiana in the face?" She asked. I couldn't help but laugh. "yeah."

The next morning, I decided to take Akira's advice and call Rayne. I kept telling myself, don't bring up the situation. Every time the phone rang my, heart rate sped up a little more.

"Hello?" I hear her voice answer sleepily. "Hey sweetheart, were you sleeping?"

"I was drifting.." She says quietly. The silence between us was cold and awkward. "Long day?" I ask.

"Yeah, I got home this morning and I just had a lot of things to unpack. What about you?" She yawns.

"The day is just beginning for me. I just wanted to call you and hear you're voice."

"...oh." She responds, clearly thrown off. "You haven't called for no reason in a long time."

"I know. I've been thinking about why you and I even got together."

Rayne giggles, "for one, you chased me down with fake teeth in your mouth to carry a gallon of milk to my house. What was going through your head when you did that?"

I chuckle, "I had to think of a way to grab your attention. I've always been terrible at socializing, you know that." I couldn't believe this was working. I've gotta get Akira a gift or something. "But seriously, you've helped me get through a lot. With me going through this vitiligo, I know I'm gonna need you a lot more."

"I'll always be there for you Mike. You helped me too." She responds

"Mike we've gotta go." Bill says, notifying me of an interview I have.

"Ok, I'll be there in a sec... Rayne I've gotta go." I say softly, hoping this conversation would end the way I want it too.

"Ok, goodnight." Rayne yawns once more before saying those words I thought I had lost,  "I love you Michael."

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face, "I love you more." Hanging up, my stride a little prouder Bill grins, "You are so whipped on that girl.." He laughs. "You should be. She's a great girl." He adds as he pats my back.
