PoV: 3rd Person

  A safe landing was met at the entrance of Sonic's garden. The first demon visitors he had gotten.

"Can I help you?" A small fox demon greeted the group at the door.

"Yes, we'd like to speak to Sonic," the masked leader replied.

"Follow me, please. And remove your shoes at the door," the small two-tailed fox instructed.

"An Eastern-style mansion, how unique," They complimented the mansion as they came in and took a seat around the center low table.

"I'll go get Sonic now," the fox replied before leaving.

"Hello, I heard I have visitors," Sonic walked in wearing his embroidered white kimono, "You're the Platinums from before. A pleasure to see you again," Sonic bowed.

"Please, you do not need to bow for us," Infinite replied, "In anything," the entire group bowed, "We're honored to be in you're presence."

"I'm grateful," Sonic took a seat on his knees before them on his cushion, "How may I assist you?"

"The demon king requests your presence," Rouge spoke, "We are here to escort you."

"Tails," Sonic turned to the two-tailed fox demon, "As my apprentice, do you believe you can handle it here while I am gone?"

"You truly believe I can be in charge?!" The fox gleamed, "Yes! I won't let you down!"

"I can go, but only for a short while, winter is in a week I must return to my duties by then," Sonic replied.

"We shall escort you for three days. You'll be home long before winter," Infinite replied, "We shall wait here for you."

"Allow me to pack," Sonic left and packed a small bag for his journey. They left shortly after.

  The journey was short as promised. The palace was enormous and glorious. Gold embroidered on the palace walls. The marble tiles gleamed with brilliance. The throne room was the most detailed and glorious room of all.

"Demon Lord! We have brought Sonic as requested," the Platinums knelt down and bowed.

"Demon Lord," Sonic sat down on his knees and bowed, "It is a pleasure to meet you. How may I be of assistance?" He sat up awaiting the response.

"You truly are as beautiful as they say you are," The king stood and took Sonic's hand, helping him up to his feet, "You are not needed for assistance. Your pendant is not one of glass. It is one of mobian diamond. The most powerful rank there is. I wanted to see the next Demon Lord for myself. Who would have thought the netherworld would choose a demonic earth angle to rule next."

"The next Demon Lord? You mean I'm in charge next? Forgive me but I don't think I'm prepared for that," Sonic let go of his hand.

"I will teach you everything about the netherworld," Lord Shadow replied, "The world chooses demons ranks. It choose you for a reason. Do you see this?" He held up his pendant. A crystal spiral with five platinum spike protruding from the edges, "My pendant is reverting to platinum. My time as Demon Lord is ending. My immortality won't let us die, but this realm changes leaders when it is their time. It is now yours. Demon Lord Sonic."

"Will I have to leave my duties as a healer?" Sonic asked, not wanting to abandon his village.

"No, the palace is where ever you want. Most Lords choose to live here because they want riches and wealth. But you rule as you wish. All demons become loyal to you as you see fit," Lord Shadow explained, "I'm now only required to tutor you. Once you have finished the tutoring, we will transfer the crown to you. We will begin today, I shall give you your study materials. Our lord must be well educated."

"Of course..." Sonic looked down at his hands. I have no say, then I must do the netherworld well, "I will rule as best I can."

"Excellent, Lord Sonic," Shadow led Sonic into the palace library.

  The healer was sent home with books and scrolls to read and study. His halo now had small peaks with white blossoms. It became his new halo tiara.

"Sonic- My lord!" Fleetaway bowed. The rest of the demons who worked for Sonic quickly followed.

"So you know already," Sonic raised Fleetaway's head, you have no need to fear me. I'm going to be a kind ruler, you may call me by my name."

"Yes, a message was sent to us, we were told to treat you like we would the king," Fleetaway stood and smiled, "No wonder you were so powerful already."

"I need to take up my studies. I'm going to leave you and Tails in charge of the mild illnesses. Common colds, strep, and simple wounds. If you come across something more complicated you will call for me. I will not abandon my work to be a tyrant," I set the books I brought with me down, "Help me learn more about this world Fleetaway."

"Gladly. Mephiles is sure to lose his mind when he learns of this," Fleetaway laughed.

"I'm sure he already has."

  That night, Sonic snuck down to a room below the small mansion. Where bars were made from tree roots that grew too quickly to escape from. He came with a prepared meal and a change of clothes.

"I brought your dinner," Sonic parted the bars and the shut them behind him, "Mephiles."

  The sulking demon remained quiet, he no longer spoke to anyone. His gold ranking had been stripped to glass. He was powerless now and would be eaten by the netherworld if it weren't for his cell.

"Your change of clothes. Try not to tear this set apart," Sonic spoke as the dark figure watched. His form was now only a shadow in the walls.

"You stole your appearance from the demon Lord, you wished to become him so badly. It's a shame really," Sonic carefully fed the figure the porage he had brought, "You lost your mind over losing your power. If I hadn't found you, where would you be?"

  Mephiles didn't speak, he merely stopped eating when he had enough. Sonic got up and left through the bars once again.

"I have news for you. I was never a glass demon. My rank is mobian diamond. I'm the new Demon Lord, that's all thanks to you transforming me. I'll take excellent care of the netherworld-" The clothing was torn to shreds by the dark shadowy figure and tentacles banged against the roots, "It wasn't my choice, but it is my fate. As your fate was to die," Sonic gestured to the small pool of water in the cell, "You can become nutrients if you desire. I've allowed it since you refuse to be healed. Yet you refuse to die. You torment yourself Mephiles. If you choose to heal I would let you work in the garden. But if I let you lose all these demons you tortured will kill you. You can always choose. Goodbye."

  Sonic left, it had been months of him caring for Mephiles, who refused to heal. That night, the dark figure waited in the dark as it did each night. Finally, it slipped into the pool of water and dissolved. The water was carried through the ground up to a patch in the garden by the edge of the fields under the hedges. It grew into a small patch of Aconitum. A vibrant purple flower known as devil's helmet. It was highly poisonous causing nausea, vomiting, paralysis, breathing issues, heart issues, and then death.

  The next day, Sonic removed the existence of the cellar, allowing the roots to spread from their boxy shape. The dirt collapsed into the space, as though it never existed. He walked along the fields to find the patch of aconitum. Growing at the edge of his garden.

"Even in death, you've become toxic to everyone. But I can make use of your new life in medicine," Sonic separated the deadly plant in a small greenhouse with the other poisonous plants he had grown. He kept it in a pot to keep it isolated as he did with them all, "You can reduce fevers and help pneumonia, and you'll help several demons with their illnesses as well. Your new life will be beautiful now. I shall tend to you equally. Welcome back, Mephiles."

  The netherworld was soon under the rule of a gentle and kind demon Lord. The land became prosperous, the mortal realm became more and more advanced in medicine.

  Both worlds had found an immortal diety to keep them in a never-ending era of peace and health. For all of the time, Sonic ruled in kindness.

  The world's never knew darkness again under their healing king.

  Wow, this book was only supposed to be like 12 chapters and now it's 41 chapters long XD.

  I had a lot of ups and downs with this story. Sometimes I hated ot, but I mostly loved it. I hope you guys enjoyed it.

  I will miss this story, but it was time for it to end. I love you guys and I hope to see you in future books.
