Chapter 5: School Trip Time - 1st Period

Next week, we were going to Kyoto and had the opportunity to travel in small groups of our choosing.

Karasuma explained that even though it was a school trip, we still had to think of assassination plans.

Since Kyoto is an ideal location for snipers, the government is sending one out to work with us as Koro-sensei accompanies each group.

However, I didn't really care. I was just sitting at the back reading a book.

Kayano, Nagisa and Sugino were deciding who else to add to their group.

"Hey, Karma. Do you wanna be with us?" Nagisa asked, turning his head.

"Count us in." he answered.

"Uh, you're gonna behave yourself, right? No gettin' into fights and all that stuff?" Sugino asked nervously.

"Yeah. Sure. Don't worry, dude." he held up a picture. "When I stir up trouble out of town, let's just say... I know how to keep witnesses from reporting it."

I could practically feel the devil horns, tail and aura coming out of him from here.

"Oh, great! And now he's part of our group. Way to go!" Sugino exclaimed at Nagisa.

"Eh. What can I say? We've been friends for a while. And who's us?"

"Us, refers to me and Shorty other there." he tilted his head in my direction.

Seriously! I'm not that short!

"Ya good with being in Nagisa's group?" I gave him a thumbs up and buried my face in my book, not wanting to talk.

He's just lucky he's on my good side.

They also invited Okuda and Kanzaki to be part of the group.

Everyone was creating a buzz about where to go and good places for an assassination attempt.

Koro-sensei came in with stacks of thick ass books.

There was a loud thud on my desk. I put my book down only to see the guidebook Koro-sensei made. Out of curiosity, I started to skim through it.

What could he have possibly written in here to make it so thick?...

My group was busy marking places where they should go and Kanzaki was noting many things down in her notebook.

Today is the day we leave for Kyoto.

I pulled an all-nighter the night before we had to leave. I packed my essentials, but I also prepared my weapons and checked the profiles of targets in Kyoto.

I joined the class at the station.

"Shiniko, are you alright? You don't look too good," Kanzaki was concerned as I did have the energy and appearance of the undead.

"Im fine, just tired," I almost whispered out of exhaustion. Luckily, I packed light, meaning I didn't bring my favourite weapons.

Im going in for the kill myself.

Classes A through D got to board first class while we got stuck in coach. Irina came dressed looking like some Hollywood starlet. Karasuma made her change.

We all boarded the train and soon enough we left for Kyoto. But no one's seen Koro-sensei yet.

"Holy!" Nagisa shouted, "Not to pry, but is there some reason you're stuck to the window?!"

We snapped our heads to the window and saw Koro-sensei stuck on the side of the moving train.

"Uh... I was stocking up on munchies at the terminal and lost track of time. It's alright, I'll just stay right here till we reach the next stop. Cloaking engaged!" Koro-sensei turned invisible.

"Nothing to see here. Just some random clothes and luggage stuck to the side of a train." he said like it was something you'd see everyday.

I had my earbuds in while listening to music. I didn't bother with my headphones, they were gonna get in the way of me sleeping anyways.

I was looking out the window, watching everything fly by. It looked like I was in a sad music video to be honest.

Eventually, I fell into a deep sleep. My arm was propped up by my elbow and I rested my head in my hand.

Karma looked over at her, who was sleeping peacefully and took a photo. Then, he carefully moved Shiniko's head down on his lap.

Nagisa noticed Karma's actions and quietly yelled at him, "Karma, go get a blanket or jacket for her to sleep on!"

"Why?" Karma questioned the now frantic, blue-haired boy.

"Because when she wakes up, she'll be face to face with your dick!" he answered quickly, making sure not to wake the sleeping girl.

The group giggled quietly at his sudden outburst and choice of words.

Karma sighed and took off his black blazer. He folded it neatly and placed it under Shiniko's head without disturbing her slumber.

I was having a dream... more like a nightmare, but a dream nonetheless.

My parents were holding my little toddler hands, as we walked the streets of Kyoto. There was laughter, incoherent chatter, and we seemed to be having a great time.

Shadows or black flames started to burn the dream, turning it into a nightmare.

My young toddler self was surrounded by darkness.

All I could hear were my parents arguing. Their shadows grew longer reaching her. They danced around the toddler.

Disappearing and reappearing unexpectedly screaming at her face, flashing images of the twisted faces of her parents, making the young girl cry.

Unknowingly, as her tears slowly spilled down her cheeks in reality, she also stirred in her sleep from time to time.

Karma noticed and tried to wake her up, but it only made matters worse.

The voices wouldn't stop; voices of her parents and previous classmates.

More shadows appeared. Images of past and present classmates with bulging, enlarged eyes and sinister smiles, circling around her. Continuously, chanting the same things:

"Useless"

"Garbage"

"Pathetic"

"Ugly"

"Stupid"

"Go kill yourself"

"You good for nothing"

With every remark, a new wound would appear.

She was slowly drowning in a pool of her own blood. She reached out in the last minute, hoping someone would pull her out.

But everything turned black.

I woke up with a small gasp and broke into a cold sweat.

My eyes were immediately met with worried gold ones. I remembered where I was and closed my eyes as I breathed out, my chest felt heavy.

I realized my left hand was tightly gripping something. I looked at what I was holding onto and it was Karma's arm. I let go of him and placed the back of my hand over my eyes as I continued to calm myself down.

"You doing ok?" Karma looked down at me.

I nodded, wiping the tears dry. I pulled my hood over my eyes before I sat up, I didn't want anyone to see me this vulnerable.

God, Im pathetic... Still crying from stupid nightmares...

"I'm ok..." I managed to whisper out to reassure the worried group members. "Can someone get me a black coffee, please..."

Kayano went to get it since she's never seen this side of me before.

I hope I didn't worry her too much...

No one in 3E has seen this side of me.

One of the sides of me that I didn't want people to see: vulnerability.

The group didn't really know how to react.

Soon, I had completely calmed down. My puffy, red eyes from crying were back to normal and I was back to my calm and collected, straight-faced self again.

For the rest of the trip, I read a novel I brought along and finished it. I was planning on sleeping the whole ride, but after that, I don't think I will.

I didn't talk to anyone until we got to the inn.

Classes A through D got to stay at a Luxury Hotel. We stayed in a traditional inn, which wasn't that bad to be honest.

Koro-sensei was affected by motion sickness, some students tried their luck, but he still dodged them.

I was sitting next to Kayano. Kanzaki was trying to find her missing itinerary.

I felt my phone vibrate.

Shuu: I'm staying at the Luxury Hotel. If u need anything u know where to find me, otherwise call/text me, k?

Me: K :)

After we got our rooms, which were just the guys in one room and girls in another, and knowing where everything was, we got ready for bed.

Before I got back to the girls room, Karasuma informed me that the sniper, Red Eye, was going to be the one joining us in our assassination attempts.

I didn't feel like joining in their girl talk, so I fell asleep first.

The next day, I texted Red Eye about his whereabouts to meet up and join him with the attempts.

I met up with him before the others woke up. I texted the group to let them know that I'll be sightseeing on my own and they could go without me. I shut my phone off after sending the message.

I followed Red Eye to different locations to see if he could do the deed, but Koro-sensei was just too fast.

But it was fun travelling around Kyoto for a mission, and I got a good laugh at Red Eye's relatable frustrations of not being able to snipe Koro-sensei. As well as some assassination advise.

My group was going to Gion. I had the places of where and when my group would be visiting just in case. They were planning on going into a somewhat closed off area.

I left Red Eye and went to Gion before they got there, but I hid on the rooftops so no one could see me. I ate some snacks that I picked up while I was up there.

I texted the group to let them know I was already in the Gion district. They said they weren't far.

I watched them quietly from above, but out of nowhere, two groups of thug high schoolers came out and trapped them in the middle of the deserted alley that lead towards the inner area of the district.

" 'Ideal' is right." the one with a shaved head said, "So why're ya walkin' around somewhere that's ripe for a kidnappin'?"

The group of thugs behind my group had rope. They were serious about this.

"I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but, something tells me you gentlemen aren't tourists."

Damn you cocky bastard, are you tryin' to get yourself and everyone killed...

"Don't try to be a hero, carrot top. Hand over your lady friends and wa-" the guy got cut off by Karma crushing his head into the ground.

"Y'see that? What did I tell ya? To hell with 'em. Without any witnesses, it's basically a free-for-all, so go nuts!" Karma said cheerfully.

I mean, he's not wrong...

"I'm gonna cut you like a pig!" another minion shouted while holding a utility knife and charged in Karma's direction.

Karma grabbed a nearby bike cover, threw it over the high schooler's head and smacked him down.

Woah... I don't think I've ever seen him fight, fight before...

"Strong words for a guy kissin' the sidewalk."

"Let go of me!" Kayano shouted, making the rest of the group turn to see that she, along with Kanzaki, got captured.

Damn... I got distracted by watching him fight... Well, the fun's just getting started...

I cracked my knuckles and jumped down onto one of the high schoolers. He was the only one who watched, so I assumed he must be their leader.

I couldn't fight the high schoolers who held the girls captive or else they could get hurt.

I managed to fight off the beat down Karma got in, but the other two managed to knock both Nagisa and Sugino out before they all escaped.

After they left, Okuda came out of, who knows where and went to the unconscious blueberry heads.

"Nagisa! Sugino!" Okuda exclaimed.

I stayed with the bruised tomato. Thankfully, they all regained consciousness shortly.

"Oh, thank goodness! Are you two okay?" Okuda asked with concern.

"You all right, Okuda? Those guys didn't do anything to you, did they?" Nagisa asked.

"It's ok, I'm fine." Okuda reassured them.

"Don't sweat it. You did the right thing." Karma said, sitting up.

"What about you?" Nagisa asked as he turned to face me.

"I'm still here aren't I? Worry 'bout yourselves, you guys got pretty beat."

"I think it's safe to assume those guys are pretty hardcore. We could go to the cops, except they're the type who know their way around the system. Which is fine. 'Cause I'm the type who likes to handle these things personally, if you know what I mean." Karma stated with slight anger.

"Okay. Dude, how do we even find them?" Sugino questioned.

"I have their exact location." I piped in. This was no situation to keep my mouth shut.

"How?" Sugino asked.

"A tracking device, I just stuck one of these lil' things," I held up an extra tracker to show, "Onto the leader's back when I jumped him. It's connected to my phone. And, I'll be going now."

I put the tracker away and started to walk away, "Make sure to let sensei know."

"Wait." Karma shouted before I could leave, "You shouldn't go on your own, it's too dangerous."

"I'm going and no one's stopping me." I glared at him, my bloodlust apparent. "You don't know what they could be doing to them right now."

Before anyone could say another word, I left.

I ran towards the direction of where they were headed, but they had a van so it was hard to keep up.

When the tracker showed the leader going into a building, I guessed they arrived at their destination, even though I haven't caught up to them yet. I sent the location to Koro-sensei.

I made it to their hideout and sneaked in no problem.

So much for the guys outside...

I saw Kayano and Kanzaki tied up next to a dirty, old couch with the high schoolers surrounding them.

Once they went into another room, I quietly made my way behind the couch and crawled around to where the girls were.

Their faces lit up when they saw me. I held my index finger in front of my lips signalling them to stay quiet

"Just pretend I'm not here," I whispered as I took out a small knife from the inside of my school blazer.

"That picture..." Kayano started, "Not gonna lie, it's kinda comforting to know even you went through a phase. Never would've imagined."

I managed to cut the ropes apart.

"No matter what, hold onto the ropes and pretend they were never cut." I instructed quietly, both of them nodded, and I went back behind the crusty ass couch.

"Yeah. My dad was crazy strict. Always on me about doing well in school and building up my resume. It was so suffocating, you know? I just couldn't deal. So I ditched the uniform, glammed myself out, and hung where no one knew who I was. Felt like therapy. So stupid. Where did I expect to end up, right? It's E Class for me. But now, I don't even know where I belong anymore." Kanzaki explained, feeling less about herself.

As I listened, I sympathized with her story...

Then, the leader of the high schoolers came over and squatted down in front of them.

"Sounds to me like you'd be right at home with us. Grades and all that pointless bullshit don't mean jack here. We eat elitist scum for breakfast. Nothin' sweeter then knockin' stuffed shirts down a peg or two. The only thing that matters is having fun, right?" he said. The rest of the high schoolers gathered behind him, laughing.

"You're a jerk." Kayano mumbled.

The leader's smile turned into a frown. He grabbed Kayano by the collar of her shirt.

"I see how it is!" he lifted her up in the air, "Little Miss Perfect thinks she's better than me!"

Kayano squirmed in his grip, while Kanzaki stared at her mortified.

"This is exactly what I'm talkin' about, you uppity bitch!'' he threw Kayano down onto the couch, "When we're done here, you go back to whatever fancy hotel you're in and tell whoever asks that you were just out singin' karaoke and lost track of time. Stick to that story and no one gets hurt."

He was about to say something else, but he was interrupted by something falling in front of him.

It was a metal can I threw.

"But what if you're the one who gets hurt?" I threatened.

"Who's there! Come out!" The leader shouted in anger.

Before I made my move, a door opened, sending its creaking sound across the room.

Here's my chance...

I used one hand to jump over the couch and landed next to Kayano.

"Why you little!" The leader turned his focus back to me.

I started to attack before any of them had a chance to move, knocking them all out.

Amateurs...

The girls stood behind me as we watched the door intently. We saw one of the thugs with a bruised face drop onto the ground.

"You found us!" Kayano exclaimed happily, breaking the silence.

"Jeez, took you guys long enough," I walked towards them, Kayano and Kanzaki following behind.

"Let's get going, shall we?" I smiled innocently. After I walked past them, my smile and innocent act dropped. They all stared at the group of knocked out high schoolers.

As I walked out, there were four unconscious bodies held up by a single tentacle at the doorway. They all had shaved heads and glasses on. Their uniforms were also on properly.

"Koro-sensei, please move aside."

"Why of cour- Eh?" he moved aside and saw the knocked out high schoolers. Everyone else eventually headed out the building.

The sun's beginning to set... how... Rewarding...

"So, what happened in there?" Karma asked, as I continued staring into the sunset.

"Just what it looked like."

"Didn't think you had it in you to pull off such a thing, Shorty." he complimented, but I still elbowed him for calling me short.

As we walked back to the inn, Karma and I tried taking hits at Koro-sensei.
