Chapter 29: School Festival Time

How did I get roped into this?...

At the moment, I'm with the Big Five in a meeting room. Shuu thought it would be a great idea to get corporate sponsors for the school festival.

I was there as a representative of the school along with the Big Five.

I can tell what the Big Five were thinking from their expression, "What junior high kid gets a corporate sponsor?!"

My brother, apparently...

I answered mentally and rolled my eyes that went unnoticed.

The next day, the class was deciding what they should do for the festival, but Koro-sensei gave us the idea of using ingredients found on the mountain.

It was the day of the fall festival, I was sitting at one of the tables waiting for my order of acorn noodles. From the distance, I could see a small group of exhausted men who just made it to the top.

It's them...

I recognized them immediately; the highschool thugs from our trip.

"Hey, cool place you got here," their leader, Ryuki said.

"The high school thugs from our class trip!" Sugino exclaimed. "What the hell are you doing here?!"

"Hey guys," Karma smirked, "Came to kidnap another girl?" he teased.

"Yeah, 'cause I'm an idiot. Ya think I want that psycho bitch and freakshow of a teacher on my back, no thanks." He stated. "Course I don't got to get physical to wreck your day. I could just start tellin' everybody your food tastes like crap. May be write a bad review online."

The thugs got themselves seated.

"Who were you calling a bitch, hmm?" I asked with a smile angrily, but looked calm.

The guys jumped in their seats, "No one!"

"That's what I thought."

Okuda brought out our signature dish: Acorn noodles.

Ryuki's little buddies took a look at the menu and their eyes widened in excitement as they asked their leader for other menu options.

"Knock it off, your stupid is showing!" Ryuki scolded. He dipped his noodles into the broth and slurped it up. "It's... delicious!" tears of joy were streaming down his face.

Damn right it is...

I finished up my shift and looked at the time.

Time to go.

I went into the deepest part of the forest where I wouldn't be seen and flew down the mountain before stopping away from the school campus and continued on foot.

I entered the building where A Class was holding their festival unnoticed. There was loud music booming everywhere and a performance was about to start on stage. I found Gakushuu and the Big Five and joined them quietly.

"Hey Asana!" a student greeted cheerfully with a group of girls behind her, probably fangirls.

(I based this part from the eng dub n it sounded like she said Asana but its probs cuz of da bgm)

Did she just say 'Asana'?

I smiled trying to stifle my laugh.

When we made it backstage, that's when the five noticed me.

"I thought you were late, when did you get here?" Shuu asked while tuning his guitar.

"Just a few minutes ago," I gave him a short answer. "By the way, did you hear that girl out there called you 'Asana'? Maybe I should start calling you that too," I teased.

"Don't. You. Dare." Shuu warned. "Now let's go, we're a minute behind." He went on stage and started to play his guitar, the crowd went wild. The rest of the Big Five went out after to back him up.

I quickly got ready and went on stage as well. Since it was dark, it was hard to recognize me from the crowd.

But just in case, I did as much as I could to change my appearance so no one would recognize me.

You'd have to be a real creep to figure out it was me under there...

Then, I joined the Big Five on stage and started to perform alongside them.

(it's the video above, yall probs know)

The crowd was wild. Cheering, shouting, chanting. Everything.

I only agreed to do one song and after the performance, I took off my mask and let down my hair backstage. Then, I headed back up the mountain. On my way up, I ran into Mr. Matsukata and the children.

"Mr. Matsukata, it's nice to see you again," I greeted and smiled. "And it's nice to see all of you guys too! Sorry I couldn't be there, but I hope you enjoyed the food!"

"We most certainly did, it was wonderful," Mr. Matsukata complimented.

"That's wonderful to hear. Well, I better get going, my break's over. I'll see you all later," I said my farewell and continued going up.

As I got closer to the building, I heard someone shout.

"Wassup! Nagisa, long time no see!"

I turned to the direction of the source.

The guy from our summer trip?...

I began to take orders and serve the food to the customers with a smile. Even though my smiles were forced, the customers and students still believed it was real.

"Shiniko's smiling!?"

"She looks so cute!"

"She's like a totally different person."

"If only she could stay like that..."

I did the job effortlessly, occasionally talking to the customers I knew. Until I spotted Nakamura hiding behind a bush with a sketchbook and marker. I sneaked up to her.

"What are you doing?" I whispered.

"Getting our customer average up any way we can..." Nakamura whispered back slyly and pointed behind her with her thumb.

I carefully looked over the bush and quickly clasped my hand over my mouth to prevent myself from laughing at what I saw.

It was Nagisa in a skirt and he was talking with Yuji.

Not long after, Karma came along and wrote something in the sketchbook and held it up. I rolled my eyes at the redheads request.

Like that'll ever happen...

Just then, Red Eye walked past the two with his gun and a dead bird.

Or is it a chicken, maybe a turkey?... Anyways, Im glad he's alive. I heard The Reaper almost got him...

Either way, it scared the shit out of Yuji. He almost called the police.

Not even a minute later, Lovro was behind Nagisa and almost gave Yuji a heart attack. He saw me peeking from the side of the bush and gave me a small nod which I returned.

I got up and left with Karma so we could do our rounds at the tables.

"Are you okay?!" I asked Grip frantically after eating a bite of pudding with wasabi in it.

Karma!...

"I'll get you a new pudding on the house," I offered and quickly went to get it.

After I gave it to him, I saw Mr. Karasuma and Lovro by the back of the building. I took care of a few more tables, catched up with some more assassins I knew, and told Irina that he's here.

We both went to that back of the building together. I made sure no one caught me sneaking off.

"Lovro sensei, it's nice to see you again, alive," I greeted. "We've been worried about you."

After we caught up, I made my way back to Nakamura. When I got there, Yuji was ready to leave.

"Why is he leaving?" Karma came running over with a maid cosplay costume. "I was gonna see what he'd be willing to pay for a cosplay shoot."

"How much did you plan on making off him?" I asked.

"As much as I could," Karma answered, making me sigh.

"Since I have all these cosplays, why let them go to waste," he looked at me with a smirk.

"I don't think so buddy," I turned him down.

"Aw, c'mon it'll be fun," he said, going full devil mode.

"No way." I walked away and went back to serving tables.

As the day came to an end, everyone cleaned up and left for the day.

The next day, I was the first one there, but there was already a long line up in front of the cafe.

When I went into the building, Ritsu informed me that there had been a review that spread like wildfire over the internet, now everyone in the area wanted to try the food.

I started to get the seating area, ingredients and utensils ready. I sat some of the customers down and took down their orders and got to work.

The students eventually arrived and saw the line. When the kitchen staff walked in, they stared at me with bewilderment as I danced around the kitchen with lightning speed. My hands moved at a blurred pace while chopping the ingredients.

"Instead of staring, you could start helping," I snapped them out of their bewildered state.

"R-right!"

As the day went by, the amount of customers started to decrease and so did our ingredients. Koro-sensei opposed the idea of going deeper into the forest to get more ingredients.

At the end of the day, I was wiping down all the tables when I saw Ms. Shiota.

"Ms. Shiota, it's nice to see you again," I greeted. "Please, have a seat."

"Thank you, and it's good to see you again as well." Ms. Shiota said, taking her seat.

"Sadly, we're all sold out, but I might be able to bring out a drink if you're interested." I offered.

"That sounds wonderful, thank you. Also, why are you here in E Class if you're the top student?" she asked.

"Oh, that's because the principal told me to watch over E Class," I thought up a lie on the spot. I just hope it's believable. "I act as a model student to help and inspire others so they don't fall too far behind."

She had a small smile on her face. "You must be tired from work, I'll be right back with the drink."

While I went inside to get the drink, Nagisa went out and sat with his mother.

"Sorry to interrupt, here's our last crimson glory vine juice, enjoy!" I set the drink down on the table and went back inside.

"She promised she would keep my toupee a secret! What does that mean?!" Mr. Karasuma said angrily at Koro-sensei.

I tugged on his sleeve and showed him a picture of Koro-sensei dressed as him and Karasuma tried to stab him.

I packed my bag and left.

Maybe I could be a chef... or work at a cafe in the future... as a side hustle of course...
