The next day.

Gakuhou stopped the alarm clock before it went off.

"Woke up before the alarm again, huh," he thought, as he started getting ready. "Better wake those two up before we're all late."

He walked to the guest room.

"Shiniko, wake up it's time for school." he said at the door.

There was no response.

"Shiniko..." he sighed, "Guess I'll get Gakushuu to deal with this, I'm running late."

He stepped out of the room and right there behind him was the person he was looking for. "Morning Gakushuu, wake Shiniko up, we're running late."

"Ok, and mornin' dad," Gakushuu obliged.

Gakushuu's PoV

I went to the guest room, that's now Shiniko's room.

"Shiniko~...wake up~" I said as I poked her cheek, all she did was shuffle in bed.

"Well you leave me with no choice," I grabbed the blanket and pulled it away from her. She felt around for the blanket before waking up.

"Yay, you're awake! You need to get ready, we have school," I informed as I left her room.

"...Ok.." I heard Shiniko mutter.

Shiniko's PoV

Ugh.......we have school, are you kidding me. I better get ready and fast, I don't want to be a burden...Now where are the clothes at? Ah, there they are..oh and they're clean.

 I got dressed as quick as possible.

Perfect.

After I was done, I went downstairs.

"Good morning Uncle Asano." I said in a loud whisper.

"Good morning, there's grilled cheese on the table, help yourself."

"Morning, again." Gakushuu said as I took a bite of grilled cheese.

"Mo'ning" I said with a mouthful.

"Manners, Shiniko," Gakushuu reminded me.

"Sowee~" I apologized after swallowing.

Third Person PoV

After breakfast, everyone rushed to get their shoes on and left. The kids ran to the car and got in, Asano did the same after locking the door, and they were off.

"Shiniko, you will be coming with me to my cram school, since I need to test you to see which grade and school you'll be going to." Uncle Asano informed.

"Mhm..." Shiniko hummed.

After dropping off Gakushuu at school, they continued to drive to the cram school. Since it was going to be a long drive to get to the school, Shiniko slowly, but surly started to fall asleep.

Shiniko's PoV

I slowly started to fall asleep after Gakushuu left and had a dream, more like a nightmare.

"...niko...Wake up Shiniko..."

I heard a voice call out to me, it was Uncle Asano, and as I woke up, I felt something cold on my cheek.

Tears.

Tears were streaming down my face, I quickly wipe them away before answering.

"Yeah Uncle?"

"We're here."

After stepping out of the car, we were greeted by the students, and as always I got intimidated and hid behind Uncle.

"Sir!" a blonde haired student yelled, while running. Two other students followed behind.

"Good morning Sir!" the only girl student greeted.

"Morning Sir!" a boy with glasses greeted as well.

"Good morning."

"Hey, Mr.Asano, who's that behind you?" asked the girl.

"Class, this is Shiniko. She's my adopted daughter, please be nice to her, she's been through a lot."

I waved at the students, but I was still hiding.

"Shiniko, this is Mori." Uncle Asano started to introduce the students.

"Hi it's nice to meet you!"

"This is Ikeda."

"Suup!"

"And this is Nagai."

"Nice to meet you!"

"H-hi everyone..."

"Class is about to start, so let's go inside!"

"Ok!"

"Come along now Shiniko."

So the blonde boy is Ikeda, the girl is Mori, and the boy with glasses is Nagai. Got it.

I tried to remember who is who, as I followed everyone to the classroom.

"Shiniko, there's a couple desks behind them, just choose where you want to sit and I'll give you the tests."

I just chose a set at the back next to the window.

"You will be starting with a test that covers everything a kindergartener should know, after you're done just put it on my desk and you can go play."

I was handed a pencil, an eraser and the test.

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Aaaand done.

"That was fast, I'm guessing that you already did this before?" to answer Uncle Asano's question, I simply nodded.

"Well, now that you're done, you can do what you want, but please stay in the building, and try to stay quiet, unless there's an emergency."

Yay I can go play now! I cheered in my mind as I calmly walked out of the room.

Third Person PoV

Shiniko left the class to explore the building, but little did she know, someone was watching...

Since it was a small building, she found where everything was quickly and went back to the classroom.

"Glad your back, I have another test for you, this one is for first graders. If you don't understand something just skip it."

"Another test...great...wait I actually don't know some of this. Skip." she scanned the test. "Skip...skip...skip...skip...I don't know how to do these questions so...I guess I'm done?"

Shiniko handed the test in.

"Perfect timing, lunch time everyone." Uncle Asano announced.

"Yay!!!" the students cheered.

There was a lot of chattering. Mori came up to Shiniko and asked, "Hey Shiniko, do you want to play Hide and Go Seek with us?"

She nodded as an "ok".

"Alright then, Ikeda you're it!" Mori said cheerfully.

"Why?" Ikeda whined.

"Because Ikeda, you're the most athletic among us," Nagai explained.

"Makes sense, I'll do it! You know how to play right Shiniko?" he faced Shiniko with a big smile.

"Yup!"

"Great! Then let's begin! Oh and by the way I'm only counting to 30 and the safe spot is the classroom."

"Ok, ok, just start already," Mori was getting impatient.

Ikeda sighed before counting.

Shiniko's PoV

I didn't know where to hide, so I went to the nearest bush and hid.

After Ikeda finished counting, he burst through the doors and started searching. Since it was Hide and Go Seek, I waited until Ikeda was somewhere far, far away and then began running back to class. I made it back quickly and quietly, no one else was there except for Uncle.

"Your the first one to come back, good job! And I finished marking the two tests. So, it looks like you know everything at kindergarten level, but you're having trouble with the first grade work. That's very impressive for a girl your age, you might even be as smart as Gakushuu!"

I was shocked that I could be smarter than Gakushuu. A smile spread across my face once more.

"My, my look at the time, lunch is about to end." he called everyone back in.

Ikeda gasped as he entered the classroom.

"Shiniko! Your already here!?! But how?!!"

"Because I'm awesome," I said, still smiling.

Mori came in next and joined the conversation, "She's got you there Ikeda!"

"Settle down class, now open your textbook to page......"

Before I knew it, I started to fall asleep once again, only this time there were no tears.

I heard lots of whispering, but I was still tried, so I couldn't tell who was talking.

"Aaww, she's sooo cuuuttte!!!" Mori whispered and yelled.

"Mhm..." both of the boys agreed.

"You guys sound like pervs you know..."

"Shut up! No we're not!" Ikeda shouted.

"Yea!" Nagai spoke up.

"Mmhhmm" I groaned at the noise and shifted my sleeping position.

"Great job guys, you woke her up!!!"

"No we didn't!!!"

"It's alright, class is going to be dismissed soon, so pack your bags and have some free time." I'm assuming that was Uncle Asano.

"Yaay!!!!!"

"All right, class dismissed. Shiniko, wake up school's over," a voice said and I slowly woke up, "Shiniko, let's go we need to pick up Gakushuu."

I was still tried and just nodded.

"See you next week everyone."

"See you next week Mr.Asano!"

"Shiniko, lets go."

~After picking up Gakushuu~

"Hey dad, hey Shiniko, how was school?"

"It was ok," I replied.

"That's nice to hear!"

"How 'bout you?"

"The same as usual, getting the highest scores out of all the first graders."

"Wow, good job!"

"Thanks!"

"By the way, Gakushuu, I had Shiniko do the tests for kindergarteners and first graders." Uncle Asano informed.

"And?"

"She got everything right for the kindergarten test and understands a little about first grade work. So starting from Monday, she will be going to your school."

Gakushuu was shocked, but still replied,"O-ok..."

When we got home from school, the first thing I did was go back to my room, showered, and change back into the pajamas. After I was done, I was bored, so I laid down on my bed and started to think about when Im going to start learning at Gakushuu's school...

Then I fell asleep again, but this time it was a short nap. I got woken up a few minutes later from another voice...

"niko~...Shiniko~...Wake up~...Wake up Shiniko~..."

And something poked my face.

"Hhmm" I hummed, still tried, but still opened my eyes.

"Oh, it's just you Gakushuu. What do you want?"

"I'm bored, wanna play?"

"Sure! What should we play?"

"How 'bout Go Fish? You know how to play?"

"Yeah..." I replied, still tried.

"Good, wait here."

He left and came back with a deck of cards.

"Okay, I'm back."

He set up the game, it didn't take long and we played until dinner time.

"Aannnd I win!" I exclaimed, putting down my last pair. 

"Aawww, and I was so close to..."

"Better luck next time... Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I call you Shuu, your name's too long."

"Sure!"

"Dinner's ready!"

"Great! I'm starving!"

"Me too!"

~After dinner~

"I'm done!" Shuu and I said in union.

Uncle just smiled and said,"Good, you can go play now."

"Shiniko do you want to read some books?"

"Sure!"

We walked to his room and it was so clean.

"Here are all the books I have."

"Wow! That's a lot!"

"Choose a few books, and we can read them together."

"Ok!"

I looked over all the books he had and chose three.

"Done!"

"Come here, we can read them on my bed."

I walked over to his giant bed and crawled on.

"Which book do you want to start with?"

I held up a book.

"I was hoping you would choose that one first, it's my favorite!"

We started reading, taking turn on each page.

"Can we read this one next?" Shuu asked and I nodded.

We finished the second book and now we were starting the last book.

Before long, Shinko fell asleep. Gakushuu didn't notice until he felt some weight in his shoulder.

"Huh?" He looked over at his shoulder.

"And you fell asleep... Oh well..." He carefully set her head onto the pillow and tucked her in.

"Good night, Shiniko."

And with that the two kids fell asleep soundly...
