Melting Snow In A Dream"

[I really do recommend listening to this song towards the end. It's such a beautiful song :)]

Jimin

"So are you coming or not?"

"Not."

His friend, Taehyung, let out an exasperated sigh. "Well why not?"

"Because I don't want to be a third wheel."

"You won't be! It's not like me and Hoseok would purposely leave you out!"

"Yeah sure."

"Hyung, you have to come to this party! The whole group is going to be there."

Jimin groaned, and turned over onto his front. "That's precisely why I don't want to come. Namjoon and Jin hyung will be there, so I would definitely be a fifth wheel."

"Hyung, we're your best friends, we wouldn't designate you."

Flipping the page of his book, Jimin rolled his eyes and continued reading. He wouldn't mind going to the party, even despite the piercing cold of the December night. He wouldn't mind if he could receive a guarantee that his friends wouldn't forget about him for their lovers.

"Hyung...please? It won't be the same without you."

"Aish, can you just leave it?"

Taehyung remained silent, before climbing onto Jimin's bed and shoving his shoulders violently in pursuit of a change in answer. "It's for my birthday..."

Jimin sighed, and closed his book. "I know, I'm sorry Tae. I just...I don't know."

"Please?"

His friend looked at him with big, wet eyes, and the older could only close his own in response. "Okay. I'll go-"

"YES!"

"I'll go only if you buy my drinks."

"But hyung-!"

"Ah!"

"Okay okay, deal." Taehyung leapt up from the bed and grabbed his phone from the side.

"What are you doing?"

"Texting the group chat, they're gonna be psyched knowing that you're finally coming!" Jimin could only smile at his friend's excitement, and ruffled Taehyung's hair when he finally took a seat on the floor next to him. "By the way, Yoongi-hyung is bringing a friend with him."

"The more the merrier I guess."

"I promise it'll be fun."

"I believe you Tae."

His friend left soon after, and Jimin resumed reading his book. He wasn't such a reserved person as he came across as, but being constantly surrounded by people in relationships had become somewhat exhausting. And it wasn't that he was particularly needing to find someone right now, he was content with being single. Nevertheless, he had had his fair share of partners, but his relationship with the other never seemed to last.

And it was mainly because Jimin just couldn't connect with the other person, no matter who he conversed with. Maybe he was just odd.

Being unable to interact with more than a handful of people, he had been subjected to only a few friends his entire life. It was definitely because he was different. He was a man who liked to sing, dance, he was overall into the whole performing arts department.
And he was gay. Then again, those reasons weren't really reasons as to why he couldn't have a long lasting relationship. Being gay was just an excuse...it wasn't often that he met another gay man, let alone was he able to connect with him.

Sighing, he closed his book and placed it on his shelf before pulling on his coat. He supposed he might as well find an outfit to buy for the party later that week.

"I'm just different," he spoke into the mirror, his reflection echoing his words as if to mock him. There was nothing wrong with being different.
But when the rest of the world joins together to make one giant puzzle, and your piece doesn't seem to fit no matter what angle you take, you can't help but feel lonely. Eyeing the wintry streets outside his window, he wondered thoughtfully to himself. He had always wanted to watch the first snowfall with his special person, but never had he felt so desperate for that wish to come true.

He sighed once again, before turning the handle to his room and shutting the door behind him.

***
The walk to the party was desolate and cold, like the winter air surrounding him. Taehyung's parents had been nice enough to rent out a small bar outside the city, and Jimin's painstakingly long walk up the hill was enough to almost drain his motivation to even attend the party.

The sky was dark, and was blocked by a blanket of shrewd, grey clouds which hung over the city like malevolent angels. And when Jimin turned around to look back over the distance he had climbed, a piercing gust of wind blew right through his sweater, taking every lick of warmth it could.
He wrapped his arms tighter around himself, pulling his coat closed and tucking his chin downward into his pullover. His breath was now only visible under the sporadic streetlights, the few which still lit in this rural part of the city, and Jimin never doubted in his mind that it could snow that evening.

And for a moment, his heart throbbed with an ounce of excitement, before he was reminded of the possibilities of being alongside someone whilst the first snowflake fell from the sky.

Buildings around him slowly converted from sturdy houses to little shacks, and Jimin quickened his pace up the steps until he spotted a small, brightly lit building at the top of the hill.
Upon walking up to it, he made out a rusty sign above the doorway 'Regals' before turning the frosted handle and pushing his way into the warmth.

"Hey Jimin hyung!"

"Yo Chim!"

He faultered when he heared his name, and sullenly walked over to the small group of men seated around the bar. Taehyung lightly shoved his arm, and grinned at him with a cheesy boxy smile. "You took your time hyung."

"You didn't tell me how far out the city it was. And happy birthday."

He shoved towards Taehyung a small parcel, and his friend only smiled, wrapping his arm around the man next to him with light brown hair. Jimin nodded at him, and he smiled back while showing off a perfect set of straight teeth. "Hey Jimin! I'm really glad you decided to come!"

"Hoseok hyung, your boyfriend didn't really give me a choice."

Hoseok frowned at Tae, who kissed his forehead. "We've been friends for years now, I wouldn't have accepted a no!"

Taehyung took the parcel, and in return slid a glass of beer his way.

"I said I'd buy your drink hyung."

Jimin pulled off his coat and hung it over his stool before lifting the glass and letting the alcohol slide down his throat. "Thanks Tae. What's with this bar, anyway? It's so far out the city."

All three turned in their seats to examine the bar. It wasn't the poshest of places; maybe it had been once upon a time with it's antique furniture and red-velvet cushioned chairs, but from the fraying of the fabric Jimin could tell of its age. "It's small, and cheap. My parents refused to pay for anything more than this bar."

Hoseok poked his boyfriends cheek. "But it has its charm. I like the view of the city."

Jimin stared into his glass.

"Hey Chim!"

Taehyung and Hoseok leaned back in their seats to let Jimin view the other couple sat at the bar. "Oh, hey Namjoon hyung."

"Come over here, we haven't spoken in a while." Jimin stood from his stool and made his way to the other side of Hoseok, allowing the couple to drown in their own affection. Namjoon pulled Jimin into a brief hug, and when he pulled away his partner, Jin, only did the same. "Chim I haven't seen you around campus in a while, where have you been?"

"Nowhere unusual, I guess I was busy with dance practice..."

Jin pouted at the younger, and pinched his cheek. "You should call us! Your hyungs missed their mochi!"

"Haha yeah, I promise I will in the future."

Namjoon snaked his hand around Jin's waste and tugged him closer to him. "You definitely should, Chim we missed you for a while."

There it was, the exact thing he had been trying to avoid: the sickenly lovey-dovey behaviour used between couples who have more or less merged into one person. No more 'I', only 'we' or 'us'. That was something which Jimin had never been able to understand. He had always believed that when dating someone, you shouldn't completely envelope yourself in that person, and that your paths shouldn't collide into one.
Maybe that was why he was still single. He was a rarity with different beliefs.

"I will hyung-"

"And have you been eating well? You look so thin."

Jin grabbed his wrist, and Jimin pulled away quickly. "Of course I have hyung, I've just been busy that's all."

"Ohhh okay, sure. You better not be lying to me."

Namjoon chuckled lightly. "You should trust your dongsaeng."

"But Namjoonie, I worry."

Jimin stepped away, and forced a smile onto his face. "You don't have to worry hyung, I'm fine."

"Good! Or I will beat you to a pulp if I find out otherwise!"

Walking back to his seat, Jimin sighed shakily before grabbing his beer and drinking more from his glass. He looked over to his left, and saw the four all engaged in their own conversations, in their own little worlds. And oh, how much he wanted to burst their bubbles and...

And nothing.

He loved his hyungs. He would never wish for anything other than their happiness.

But sitting besides them, with their blossoming love and charisma to the left of him, and an empty bar to his right, he couldn't help but find the darker side of the room more appealing.

"Can I get a refill please?"

He slid his glass down the counter towards the bartender. As his glass was filled with more beer, Tae turned to Jimin with Hoseok now on his lap. "Hey Jimin, could you ring Yoongi hyung please? He isn't answering any of us."

"Sure."

Pulling out his phone and walking over to the other side of the room, he dialed his hyung. His call was quickly picked up, and he was also quickly cut off by an angry voice. "Hyung-"

"The hell do you guys want? I'm trying to drive!"

"O-oh, sorry my bad, Tae asked me to phone you."

The gruff voice on the end of the line sighed. "That's fine, sorry for yelling at you."

"You had your reasons. Anyway, I think Tae wanted to know when you'd get here?"

"Could take an hour or so, the traffic isn't getting any better."

"Right, I'll tell them."

"Don't drink too much before we get there."

"We?"

"Didn't Taehyung tell you? I'm bringing along a friend-"

"A-ah, yeah he did, sorry it slipped my mind."

"Yeah, well, we'll see you when we get there."

"See you later hyung."

The call ended, and Jimin turned back around to the bar. Under the lights, it could look like an attractive setting to anyone, with the laughter and genial aura surrounding his friends.
But right now, Jimin didn't want to go back. He had never felt so...out of place. Like he didn't belong. He glanced out the window, and eyed the sky with the heavy clouds threatening to break under their own weight.

And he made a wish in the back of his mind.

I want to watch the first snowfall with someone.

Someone who would want to watch it with me.

Jungkook

"Are you sure this is okay hyung?"

"What do you mean am I sure. Of course I am."

"Yeah but, I feel like I'm intruding."

"You're not."

"R-right..."

Yoongi grumbled beneath his breath, and impatiently tapped his fingers against the steering wheel. "The fuck is with this traffic..."

They hadn't moved for a while. "It's Friday night hyung, everyone is finishing work and going out."

"Yeah."

Jungkook sucked in a breath, and leant his head against the window. The glass seeped its cold past his hoodie and across his temple, sending a shiver past his shoulders as he gazed into the city.
Orange hues from the streetlamps coalesced with miscellaneous lights emitting from every crevice of the metropolis, and the 18-year old had a hard time keeping up with the disarray of colours fleeting through the streets like lambs on the run.

The bustle of people, the alley-signs, the never ending stream of vehicles ahead of them...he hated the feelings of reminiscence rising in his throat. Especially during this time of year.
Winter was cold, damp, bleak. It turns everything that once thrived into a silhouette of a barren wasteland, and he received no joy from snowfall knowing that when it melts, what remains is a brown, slushy consistency of water and mud.

Not to mention that the winter season had always given him such a melancholy feeling. So being away from home, he couldn't remember the last time he had felt so alone.

"Hyung?"

"Yeah?"

Condensating across the glass, his breath fogged up the window. "Who will be there?"

"Only seven of us, so it won't be a loud party. If you can even call it a party."

"Are they your friends from university?"

"Yeah, although me and Jin hyung  have already graduated. So you'll have people you know when you start uni." Yoongi pulled out his phone again, before prodding the screen with his thumb and sliding it back into his pocket.

"Was that your girlfriend?" Jungkook meekly asked.

The older smirked. "Yeah. She's laughing at me for driving out during rush hour."

"You were even late picking me up hyung."

"We were...busy. You'll understand when you move in with someone."

"O-oh, so it was..."

"Don't be so shy about this stuff kid, it only gets worse once you leave school."

"I can't help it..."

"Do you have a girlfriend? Your mom always likes to brag about how popular you are."

Jungkook felt his cheeks warm, and he turned back to the window again. "I wasn't that popular when I was in highschool. And I don't have a girlfriend."

"What about a boyfriend?"

He blushed. "No..."

Yoongi scoffed. "You don't have to be so modest."

"I'm not...I've had relationships before but they never led anywhere."

"How come?"

"I-I don't know. Relationships are annoying."

The older laughed at his almost childish comment, and the car moved forwards slightly as the traffic began to ease. "You're still young, you want to have fun. I get it."

"That's not it hyung."

"Enlighten me then."

Jungkook leaned back in his chair, and kept his eyes trailing after a red car in the lane next to them. "Of course I want to have a relationship. I just haven't met the right person."

"Well of course you haven't, you're still just a kid."

"I'm 18."

"Still a kid, you can't drink yet."

"So why am I going to some party with you and your friends at some bar in the middle of nowhere when I can't drink?"

"Watch your mouth you brat, in the long run I'm doing you a favor."

His head dipped slightly as they turned a corner and through a roundabout. "Sorry hyung."

Yoongi eyed his dongsaeng, before sighing. "Your mom was the one who wanted me to take you with me because she's worried about you being alone at university. You'll be glad to have hyungs to rely on, they're good people."

"What if they don't like me?"

"Do you think so lowly of me to befriend shallow people such as the ones in your mind?"

"No..."

"Then stop worrying and let me concentrate on driving."

The younger pulled on his hoodie strings before sinking further into the seat, watching as the lights would slowly dissapate the further out the city they drove.

He hated this.
He hated feeling sombre.

And he blamed the hiemal weather.

***
Jimin

His hyungs were already drunk.

Taehyung had been risky with shots, so now with the karaoke microphone in hand, him and Hoseok were sloppily singing down the grill with Namjoon and Jin waving their arms around along to the music.
Jimin had taped the whole thing, zooming in on times when his friends would occasionally stumble or spill their drinks, and for a while, he had been having fun.

For a while.

No doubt, he was still surrounded by couples. Two of them, and still the feelings of suffocation continued to etch their way deeper into his stomach lining.

Jimin stood from his seat and made his way to the toilets, nodding at the bartender on the way.
And when he closed the door behind him, he clawed at his scalp as he glared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror.

"What's wrong with me?"

Heaving in a dense breath, Jimin closed his eyes. Paired with the dripping of the faucet and the muted, thumping tempo of the karaoke he convinced his conscience that this night would soon come to an end quickly. He could get through this. It wasn't like there was much to get through. Some part of himself felt that maybe he was overreacting, and overcomplicating his feelings towards his hyungs and their lovers.
But it still felt like torture. Like a subtle, yet sweet torture.

The music suddenly cut off, and Jimin opened his eyes to the abrupt ending of the song.

When he walked out the toilets, he saw his hyungs crowded around Yoongi, who patted Tae on the shoulder to congratulate him on turning 20. Jimin also walked over to his silver-haired hyung, and they briefly exchanged an embrace. "Yoongi hyung!"

"How are you doing Chim?"

"Good, uni is going okay. How's life as an adult?"

Yoongi smirked. "As much of a shithole as you'd expect."

Jimin shook his head with a smile, and they all laughed together. Then Jin pointed at Yoongi with a grin. "It isn't too bad! It could be worse without you know who!"

Namjoon smiled at Yoongi, and leant on his shoulder. "How's the gf anyway?"

"She's great, although right now we're both still jobless. It's a fucking mess I swear. Oh by the way, this is my family friend, Jungkook."

Jimin blinked twice, before noticing the tall teenager stood silently behind his friend. He hadn't even realised he had been standing there. Yoongi's friend had been fixed on Jimin, before he had looked away when Yoongi pointed him out. And Jimin felt a blush creep up his neck after catching the newcomer eyeing him up. "I'm Jungkook, and I'll be attending the same university as all of you...please treat me well." The younger male bowed at Jimin and his friends.

Taehyung burst into laughter, and looped his arm around the newcomer. "Hey, why so formal? It's my birthday so drop the formalities, just relax!"

The newcomer seemed to shrink into his body at the sudden closeness with Taehyung. "Um-"

Hoseok laughed and pulled his boyfriend back a step. "Babe, you need to calm down a bit."

"You need to rile up a bit!"

Jimin locked eyes with Jungkook, and beneath his hood, he made out large, dark doe eyes that stared back at Jimin with a ferocity strong enough to immediately send his vision elsewhere. He took a seat at the bar once again when they started singing to calm his beating heart, and ordered his fourth pint of beer.

This wasn't so bad. He could get through this.

The songs continued, and as the windows started to fog up from the warmth of the room, Jimin engulfed himself in the alcohol, trying to distract himself from the frequent stares of the maknae who sat 4 seats to his left.

***
Jungkook

For some reason, he couldn't take his eyes off of the smaller male sitting at the bar. His black hair, pale skin and full lips had captured his attention the moment the guy had stepped out the toilets, and for a brief moment, he had felt his heart flutter against his ribcage.

It had been a while, since anything had affected him like that.
And watching the guy now, how he extended his neck to drink the amber liquid in his glass, Jungkook felt an urge to stand from his seat and introduce himself.

"Hyung?"

The man looked up when Jungkook had greeted him, and his eyes followed the younger as he took a seat next to him. "I'm Jungkook..."

Then he smiled at him. "I know."

And Jungkook found it to be so pretty. He scratched the back of his head, and looked away. "What's your name?"

"Jimin. Park Jimin. You said you'll be going to our university soon?"

"Yeah, I'll be studying graphics. What about you?"

"I'm a performing arts student."

"Performing arts?"

Jimin took another sip from his glass, and Jungkook gripped the stool beneath him. "Mhm."

"Do you sing then?"

"That, and I dance. What about yourself? Can you sing?"

"Um, I guess I can..."

"You don't have to be so modest Jungkook."

The younger paused, before speaking. "How come you're not singing with the other hyungs?"

A pained look washed over the older's face, and Jimin eyed the group of men in front of them. "I don't really feel like it. What about you?"

Jungkook stared down at the floor. "I don't really feel like it either."

"Has it been a rough day?"

"Not particularly. I just haven't been myself lately."

"What do you mean?"

"I...don't really know. I just feel kinda out of it."

Jimin placed his empty glass on the counter, and leant back on his elbows. "I get what you mean."

"Really?"

The older grinned at him, and tapped his temple. "I'm older, so I have a whole 2 years worth of experience ahead of you."

"That's nothing."

"It's something."

"Sure hyung."

"I can't tell if that was sarcasm or not."

"It was sarcasm."

Jimin let out a weak laugh, and watched the scene in front of him with empty eyes. Empty eyes. "Sarcasm...right."

Jungkook breathed out, and gazed at his hyung. He recognised that look. "So...how are you finding the cold?"

Jimin's head perked up and he looked at the younger with wide eyes.
Then his eyes crinkled into small crescents, and a soft, warm sound escaped his lips. "What kind of question is that?"

Jungkook felt his cheeks glow, and he kept his gaze to the stool. "I don't really know, I didn't know what to say..." Why was he so nervous around this person? He couldn't remember the last time he had lost his cool in front of someone.

The older smiled at him, and made a decisive noise in the back of his throat. "I like winter. I think snow is really pretty."

"Even though it's cold?"

"Even though it's cold."

"And wet?"

Jimin laughed again, and Jungkook found himself immediately hooked to the sound. "I'm guessing you don't like winter."

"No not really..."

"Not even snow?"

"Well...I suppose snow is cool and all, but it always melts in the end so I never excite myself whenever it gets really cold out."

"But that's the best part."

Jungkook frowned. "What do you mean?"

The older breathed out, his gaze to the window which displayed the dark sky full of clouds. "Snow only lasts for a short while. So you have to make the most of the time that it's still around, and have fun with it."

"I suppose..." He had never thought of it that way. "Hyung, you're quite a glass-half-full kind of person aren't you?"

Jimin smiled weakly, and pushed around his glass."'I'd say I'm more pessimistic, if anything."

Jungkook remained silent, and for a while, both men watched the flashing screen with lyrics plastered to front, and the frantic movements of their hyungs in front of them.

"Hyung?"

"Yeah?"

The younger stood up and leaned over the older who frowned at him in a quizzical manner. "Do you want to go for a walk?"

Jimin's eyebrows raised slightly at his offer. "A walk?"

"Yeah."

The older watched his hyungs for a quiet moment, and Jungkook waited in anticipation of his answer.

"...sure. Let's get out of here."

Jimin stood up in front of him, before walking up to one of his friends and gesturing to the door. And then they both took a step out of the bar and into the night, which reaked of polar coldness and infrequent icy breezes. He spared a glance at the older as they exited the building, and for a moment, Jungkook thought the scenery of winter with Jimin amongst it, was for the first time, beautiful.

***
Jimin

Here he was strolling around a foreign wasteland with someone he had only met that night. His feelings were so complicated, because while they compelled him to stay clear of his hyungs, they had also persuaded him to take a walk out into the night with this newcomer boy, who would repeatedly cover his face with his hood.

They took the path leading to the back of the bar, which wound its way around the hill and towards the bottom.
The conversation between them seemed almost never ending, because the younger always had something to say. But Jimin didn't mind, not in the slightest. Jungkook was quiet, and awkward at times which Jimin could only find adorable. But even from behind his hood, the older hadn't missed that glint in his eyes when the conversation steered towards subjects he was passionate about.

And Jimin found it to be so refreshing. He was like the tall, glass of water that he needed after a night of drinking.

The younger would listen intently to what Jimin had to say, and his sarcastic comments had erupted laughter from the older to which surprised him. He couldn't remember the last time he had laughed so freely, like he was stripped of all his worries, and when Jimin gazed at Jungkook from beneath his hood, he felt something in his chest.
Something...

"Watch your step hyung."

"Huh-woah!"

His foot slipped on the rocky pathway, and the younger was quick to grab his arm. "Are you okay?"

Peering down the side of the hill to which consisted of bushes and a very steep drop, Jimin let out a breath. He hadn't been paying attention to what was in front of him, and had kept his gaze on the younger so he had lost his footing. "Yeah...I'm glad you were paying attention hehe."

Jungkook cockily raised an eyebrow. "I've got fast reflexes hyung."

"Oh really?"

"Yeah really."

Jimin laughed, and lightly shoved the younger. "I suppose I have to give you that one considering I'm still stood here and not laying in a ditch at the bottom of this hill."

"If you had slipped I would probably jump down after you."

The older laughed again as they reached the bottom. There was a small convenience store still open at the foot of the hill, and its fluorescent blue lights flashed in the dark street.

"How do you know?"

Jungkook shrugged, digging around in his pockets. "I suppose I'm just like that, I don't really think at the best of times."

Jimin chuckled. "That's so cute."

The youngest faultered in his movements, and coughed in response to Jimin's fleeting comment. "Hey, you can't call me cute."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm a man."

Jimin crossed his arms and grinned at Jungkook. "You're a kid."

Then, the younger took a few steps towards Jimin, closing the space between them, and towered over him with a strong gaze. "You're the cute one hyung."

"That's..."

"I mean, mainly because of your height."

Jimin swallowed, before realising what had been said and shoved the younger back, his hands briefly pushing against his firm chest. "Yah I'm still older! You should respect your hyungs!"

"Pfft I am Jimin hyung, I just called you cute because you are."

"You little-"

"I'll get us something to drink hyung, wait out here."

Jungkook sprinted into the store, the chimes ringing out into the alley and breaking Jimin from his trance.
Sighing, he leant his back against the store, and closed his eyes with a smile on his face. The night had taken an unexpected turn, Jungkook being amidst that turn.

As he gazed skyward, he folded his arms and watched the distant yellow lights radiating from the bar from atop the hill. Surrounded by pools of tenegrous, shady shacks and a sky full of ashy clouds, the little bar which illuminated against its black canvas looked like some sort of beacon of hope. From far away, Jimin could only admire its smaller existence.
Even though it was small and out of the way, still it continued to light up the darker parts of the city. And it struck a sentimental chord in Jimins weary heart.
His tired heart, which felt like it had finally started to pulse against his chest.

"Here hyung!"

The chimes rung out again, and Jungkook strode out with a small bag in hand. "What'd you buy?"

"You'll see. Shall we head back?"

Jimin smiled. "Yeah."

They made their way back up the pathway, talking about anything that came to mind, and the icy path beneath their feet crinkling due to its sandy texture. Both men found themselves in fits of laughter when the conversation would easily flow, a warm bubble surrounding the pair in the winter night to which the older remained oblivious to.

Jimin could feel his cheeks and nose glow red as the cold air stung his skin, and he clung to his sweater as the wind prickled his body like needles.
Jungkook noticed his lack of a jacket, and when they reached the top of the hill again they both took a seat on the grass.

Jungkook unzipped his hoodie, and removed it from his body before handing it to Jimin. "Hyung use this, its cold."

"Aren't you freezing?"

"No I'm quite warm blooded, don't worry."

Jimin didn't move for a couple moments, and stared at the younger who was finally ridded of the hoodie. His brown mop of hair was messily untouched, and hung over his strong yet soft features, and Jimin moved his gaze downwards as not to embarrass himself.

So handsome...

He took the hoodie from the younger and slipped it over his shoulders. He embraced the dying warmth left from the fabric, and was quickly enveloped in a calming, soothing scent.

The younger delved into the bag and pulled out two cans of caramel coffee, to which Jimin gratefully accepted. After opening the can, the younger also pulled out a bag of lollipops.

"Jungkook, what are those!" Jimin laughed.

"Lollies, they come in five different flavors."

Jimin took the pink candy from Jungkook's slender fingers, and eyed it before unwrapping the top. "I can't remember the last time I had a lollipop."

Jungkook placed one in his mouth and grinned at Jimin. Then he leant back on his hands, and stared out across the city. And Jimin did the same.
The scenery was incredible. It was like the stars had disappeared and had been mirrored from the sky, into the city below, which erupted in glistening dotted lights. Bright neon and electronic billboards luminated the night sky so not even a twinkling of a star could show its light even if it made itself past the hurricane of clouds above them.

Then, something white fluttered down from above.

"Jungkook look!"

"Wha-"

"Snow!"

Jimin felt lost for words. From the dark covering of clouds came a whole army of miniscule, prepossesing snowflakes, which danced and swayed in the sky like erratic winter dandelion spores. His chest tightened as he reached his hand out in front of him, and allowed a flake to settle and melt against his palm.
He turned to his left and at Jungkook. Breath pale against the numbing air, Jimin watched as the younger blinked thoughtfully as the frost patiently kissed his face, captivated by the soft, dusty illusions of light that sat gently on his eyelashes.

"What are you thinking about?"

He watched the vapour leave Jungkook's lips as he sighed out into the cold air. "I don't really know."

"You should make a wish."

"A wish?"

Jungkook cocked his head to the side, and Jimin smiled at him, looking back towards the white world which washed the city anew. "Yeah, I always make a wish during the first snowfall."

"Hmm."

Jungkook briefly closed his eyes, and Jimin did the same.

What did he want?

While the younger kept his eyelids down, he spared a glance at Jungkook who was in deep thought. His first wish had already come true.
He was sat under a wave of snowflakes, with someone, during the first snow. Then he smiled at the city below them.

Jungkook opened his eyes, and grinned at Jimin. "I made a wish."

"What did you wish for?"

He breathed out, leaning his elbows against his knees. "I want to change myself."

Jimin curiously looked up from the ground to meet the younger's eyes, which glistened from reflecting falling snow. "What do you mean?"

Jungkook's breath fogged around his lips. "I want to look on the brighter side of things from now on. I don't want to look at the world as messed up. If I ever have a bad thought, I want to only see it as...snow."

"Snow?"

Jungkook nodded, and held his hand out. "Cold and gelid, but only temporary."

And Jimin smiled at him. "That sounds like a nice wish."

He smirked, and the older felt his cheeks flush. "Of course it is."

"Aish, you're too confident for your own good."

"I can't help it, you're easy to talk to Jimin hyung."

"Really? That's a first!" He laughed.

"It can't be!"

Jimin sucked in a breath, before pulling his knees closer to his chest. "I don't have many friends. I guess I find it hard to fit in, but, you don't want to hear about that."

"You don't have to tell me, I understand what you mean."

"You do?"

"Yeah. It's kinda why I always feel so distant from everyone and everything." Jungkook paused, before the ends of his mouth tugged upward into a soft smile. "But I don't think it's a bad thing."

"You don't?"

The younger shook his head. "I used to, but it's a small reminder that on this huge planet, I can be myself and no one else can ever take that away."

Jimin breathed in. "Yeah...we're all we have."

"...just us."

He thought to himself as both men stared out past the hillside. Everyone was just trying to find their own way, whether that be alone, with friends, families or lovers. The winter season had been a small reminder of his lonliness, a reminder that like each and every different snowflake, we were all unique and so, maybe even alone. The younger had been the one to remind Jimin of its passing, that his loneliness would always be temporary.
It would always pass.
As another snowflake melted against his palm, he felt the apathy in his heart do the same.

And he felt a weight lift off of his chest.

There was a few moments of silence surrounding the two, a quiet motion which wrapped around the pair in a comforting manner...

"Hyung?"

"Hm?"

"What did you wish for?"

"For happiness."

"...do you think it will come true?"

The snowflakes settled on his cheek, and the older let out a sigh, watching his breath shift to vapour as he gazed at the younger. "I suppose it already has."

The remote lights and everything, made the older wonder. Like melting snow in a dream, Jimin became submerged in a strange warmth which engulfed his insides, and thawed the icy walls surrounding his heart. With his eyes wide, and a gentle smile dancing across his lips, he pulled his knees closer to his chest and released a blissful sigh, as he continued to watch the beautiful scenery surrounding them.

And in that moment, with the younger besides him, the taste of strawberries against his tongue, and the storm of endless snowflakes, he swore everything was infinite.
