~Prologue~

*Sky's POV*

I groaned as I sat up. I was on the side of an empty road. It looked old, dirty, cracked, and pretty much abandoned. I looked at my surroundings. Nothing seemed... normal. I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my head, like my brain was trying to stop me from remembering something. The sharp pain went away. I stood up, and the sharp pain came back. I fell to the ground and sighed. How did I get here? I wondered. The sharp pain came back. Then my life, my PAST life, flashed right before my eyes.

"SKY!" I heard somebody scream out. With a smile plastered on my face, I hit the ground. The millisecond of pain felt nice. I felt like I needed it. Like it was the missing piece to my puzzle. My vision turned black, and all the pain went away. The person's voice was gone. Everything was gone, except for one thing. The box.

I slowly put my hand in my pocket, and pulled out a little box. It was black and very dusty. I opened it and inside of it was a ring. It was outlined in black and had a green gem, maybe an emerald, in the middle. On the sides, there were words engraved in it. I love you. Was I going to propose to someone? I shrugged and put the box back in my pocket. Suddenly, a painful thought came into my head. Was that the box from my... past life? I just pushed the thought aside and stood up. This time, there was no pain.

I looked off in the distance over all the trees and saw buildings. Maybe I can find people there. I started moving towards the buildings, hoping to find someone that can help me. Maybe a doctor, or even someone just to comfort me. As I came closer to the buildings, I found out it was a city. The city of Pittsburgh. I was in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The city was loud and very busy. Cars were driving past, the homeless were asking for money, and people were just walking around, as well as laughing and having a good time. I walked around, but nobody seemed to notice me. I spotted a girl who was sitting on a bench. She had big, nerdy glasses on. She wore headphones and held an iPhone in her hand. She's probably listening to music. I walked over to the bench and sat down next to her. She saw me, then took off her headphones.

"Hi." She quietly said.

"Hi." I replied. We both stayed silent. We awkwardly looked back and forth at eachother, not knowing what to do.

"My name is Jessica." She finally said.

"My name is Sk-" I paused for a second. But, I wasn't in control. Some force was. Some force stopped me from saying that name. Deep down I wanted to say a different name... because I felt like it belonged to me. But the only word I could choke up was, "Adam." She nodded.

"Cool name. You seem lost."

"I... am. I am lost. I've never been here before, butI know this is Pittsburgh."

"Well, how about tomorrow you meet me here, and then I could bring you to school and show you around a bit; you seem my age. Tomorrow is Monday, you know?"

I thought for a moment, then replied. I don't even know this girl and I was already starting to befriend her. "Sure."

Jessica smiled. "Well, I gotta go. See you tomorrow then, Adam. Or could I call you Skadam? You seemed to have wanted to say 'Sk' instead of 'Adam'."

I chuckled. "Call me whatever you want."

"Well, bye," She chuckled. "Skadam." Jessica stood up and left. I looked up at the sky, and saw that it started to get a little dark. I reached in my back pocket, and pulled out a wallet with about 100 dollars in it, a driver's license for Adam Dahlberg, and a coupon for McDonald's. It also had a credit card, which will be very useful. I looked around and saw a sign for a hotel. "Fairmont Pittsburgh Hotel! A 4-star hotel!" A place to stay... that's what I need. I started walking to the hotel.

When I got there, I purchased a room with my credit card. I grabbed the key from the lady at the desk and went inside the elevator. Room 207, second floor. I remembered. I pressed the number 2 on the elevator and waited patiently as the elevator took me up.

When I got to floor 2, I walked down the hall until I reached room 207. I used the key to open the door, then I entered the room. I set my wallet and room key down on a coffee table. I laid down on the soft bed, trying to think how I ended up here. I shrugged and slowly closed my eyes, falling into a deep sleep.

~Dream/Flashback~

As I walked up to the lady at the desk, I pulled out my wallet, ready to buy a hotel room.

"Hello, sir. Would you like to buy a room?" She asked in a cheery voice.

I nodded. "Yes, I'd like a room please."

"How long will you be staying for?"

I thought for a while. How long will I be here? I'll probably leave whenever I find out how I got here... Maybe give it a day or two. "Two nights." I replied. She typed something up on her computer.

"What is your name?"

"Adam... Dahlberg." As I said my last name, a pain shot up through my body. I winced. That name... it just seemed so familiar. Dahlberg. I thought of the box. Maybe there was a soon-to-be Mrs. Dahlberg. I wondered.

"Are you okay, Mr. Dahlberg?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." I lied. I handed her my credit card and she typed more stuff on her computer. After a while, she handed me back my credit card and my key. I left to go up to my room. Something is wrong, I can somehow feel it, I thought. Another pain shot up through my body. I shook it off, and continued going to my new room, wondering about the strange pains I've been having.

~End of Dream/Flashback~

[Morning]

I quickly got out of bed and grabbed the room key and my wallet from the small little coffee table. I ran out of my room and went inside the elevator and went to the lobby. When the doors opened to the lobby, I quickly dashed out of the hotel. I was late to meet Jessica at the bench. I quickly ran to the bench we met at, glad to see she was still there. But, she was with another guy. She saw me and waved. The guy also saw and waved as well.

"Skadam! Get over here!" She yelled. I couldn't help but laugh at the name she called me.

I ran over to her and the new guy. "I'm Adam." I said. I reached out my hand for him to grab it and shake it.

He shook my hand, and I suddenly felt all... warm. The cold empty I felt inside suddenly disappeared once I shook this guy's hand. "I'm Ty. I heard you were new here. Well, so am I." A pain shot through my head. It quickly went away. His voice, and the warmth of his hand... It just felt so familiar. Weird...

"Dude, you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm fine," I lied. "Jessica, how about you show us around the school?"

"Okay! It starts in five minutes so we better go..." She answered. She ran off and we followed her. I just couldn't get the thought out of my head of Ty feeling so familiar...

*Ty's POV*

I slowly opened my eyes. I was laying on top of a mound of dirt in the middle of some old-and-abandoned-looking woods. I looked around, noticing that where I am felt... different. It felt like I didn't belong here, like I belong- belonged somewhere else. But most of all, I felt like I belonged with someone. My heart suddenly started to beat faster, and someones life, maybe even my past life, flashed through my eyes.

Before I hit the ground, I felt my hand clasp someone's hand. I could feel the pain. I guess I deserve it, don't I? The warm feeling of our hands clasped together gave me a good feeling. A good feeling that I'll see him again in the afterlife. A good feeling that we will be together again. One last tear fell onto the grass, and then I slipped into the darkness. Forever.

I could feel the pain. I didn't scream, or wince. I just felt the pain come and go. My heart slowed down, beating at its normal pace. Weird... I stood up and climbed saw a path right in front of the dirt mound. I started walking on the path, wondering where it will take me. As I kept on moving, I couldn't help think that I belonged somewhere else. I pushed the thought aside, and looked ahead. A city started to come into view. I saw a sign off in the distance. I squinted so I could see it better. It read, "Welcome to: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!" I kept on walking on the path, and soon enough I entered the city of Pittsburgh.

I saw that the sky started to get darker. I reached in my back pocket and pulled out a wallet. Inside was a driver's license for Tyler Lox, six dollars, a credit card, and a little picture of myself. I looked around, trying to find a place to stay. Then, I saw a sign for a hotel. "Fairmont Pittsburgh Hotel! A 4-star hotel!" I ran to the address on the sign and found the hotel. I entered the hotel and walked over to the desk. I bought a room and the lady handed me a key. Room 208, second floor. I went to the elevator and pressed the '2' button. The elevator took me up and the doors opened to the second floor. I exited the elevator and walked down the hall. As I passed the rooms, I chuckled as I heard my "neighbor" snoring from room 207. I used the key on my door for room 208 and opened the door. I placed everything on a coffee table, my wallet and key, and jumped on the bed and fell asleep.

~MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORNING~

I woke up and looked outside the window. It was still a little dark. I looked at the clock on the nightstand. 6:34. I sighed and got out of bed. I grabbed my wallet and key and headed out.

When I exited the hotel, I realized the streets weren't empty. Very few people were talking and taking late night walks. Some ladies were carrying LOADS of shopping bags. Then, I noticed one girl sitting on a bench. She had big nerdy glasses. She wore headphones and was listening to music from her iPhone. She looked... lonely. I walked over to the bench and sat down next to her. She took off her headphones and shut off her iPhone.

"Hello." She quietly spoke to me.

"Hi. My name is Ty. Sorry if I'm bothering you."

"No, no. You weren't," She paused. "You're new in this city, aren't you Ty? By the way, I'm Jessica."

"Yeah, I am."

"Well, I'm supposed to meet this other guy here later. I was going to show him around the school. You can join us, if you want. But let me warn you, once you enter that school you can't leave until it's over. You'll have to go everyday, too. And, you have to wear uniforms."

"Okay. I'm cool with that."

"Great! Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to listen to my music until my... friend comes." She put her headphones back on and listened to her music again. I wonder who this friend of hers is...

~o~O~o~

It started to get lighter out. She took off her headphones and turned off her iPhone once again. She waved to a guy that was running towards us. I waved with her, just to be nice.

"Skadam! Get over here!" Jessica yelled. The guy laughed and finally reached us.

"I'm Adam." He said. His voice... it sounded so familiar. Do I know him? He held out his hand, and I shook it. I suddenly felt all... warm. It's like his hand in mine is the missing piece of my puzzle. "I'm Ty." I said. My heart started to beat faster, and faster, and faster. It felt like it was going to burst right out of my chest! I looked at Adam. His face suddenly went pale, but then it changed back to its normal color.

"Dude, you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." You don't sound fine to me. "Jessica, how about you show us around the school?" He asked.

"Okay! It starts in five minutes so we better go..." She answered him. She ran off and we followed her. I just couldn't get the thought out of my head of Adam feeling so familiar... I kept on glancing at him, just wondering why I think I know him. I pushed that thought aside, and just followed Jessica to the school. Adam, why are you so familiar?
