Danny sat in his office just staring straight into space for about ten minutes before a woman walked in.

"Dr. Huston, is everything alright?"

"Yeah.. I um.. I'll be right there, I have to call my wife."

"Okay.."

Danny quickly called the house and Jessica picked up.

"Hello?"

"Jessie!"

"Danny?  What's wrong, babe?"Jessica could tell by his voice that something was wrong.

"My mom just called me."

"Are you serious?  What did she say?"

"That she wanted to speak with me.. I told her I couldn't do this now.
Jess.."

Jessica could hear the hurt in Danny's voice become stronger.

"Baby, are you okay?  Do you want me to go over there?"

"No.. No, just spend time with Grayson.  Take him to the park like you planned.. I'll be fine."

"Are you sure?"

Danny nods and says, "Yeah.. I need to get back to work.. It's just so weird.  That's the first time in fifteen years I've heard her voice.  I don't know what to feel.. I want to scream at her and ask her why they did it, why they did that to their grandson, because that's what hurts the most... But then again.. She's my mom, Jess.
Hearing her voice was so good in a way.
I don't know how to feel. You're a parent and you know that when your child hurts, it hurts the parent ten times more."

"I know, Danny.."

Danny sighs and says, "Alright, well I better get back to work.  I just needed to talk to you."

"Danny, I'm so sorry."

"Don't be.  It's okay.. I'll see you later.  You guys be careful."

"You too.. I love you!"

"I love you too."

"Dat daddy?!" Danny hears Grayson shout.

"Yeah, baby." Jessica smiles at him.

"I talk to him!" Grayson kicks his legs and reaches for the phone as he sits in his highchair.

"Gray wants to say hi." Jessica hands him the phone.

"Hey buddy!"

"Hi daddy!"

"Whatcha doin?"

"Eating! What you doin, daddy?"

"I'm working. I miss you."

"I miss you too! Lub you, Dada!"

"I love you more, Grayson!"

"Bye bye!"

"Bye, bud."

Hearing Grayson and Jessica's voice made Danny feel a little better.
Jessica took Grayson to the park and pushed him in the swings.

"I flying mommy!!"

"Yes you are, baby!" Jessica giggles.

"Weee!!" He laughs.

"You're so cute!"

"Tanks mommy!" Grayson says with a smile.

After playing around for a bit Jessica sits on the bench with him and they talk.

"Mommy dats a bird!" Grayson points.

"Good boy!  What color is it?"

"Um.. Blue!"

"No silly!  It's red!  It's a cardinal.  You know, daddy used to say that when you see a cardinal it means someone from Heaven is down here visiting you."

"Dada say that?" Grayson looks up to Jessica.

"Yep!"

"Maybe dada visit us!"

"Grayson, I know he does." Jessica smiles and rubs his back.

"Daddy always in my eyes when I go night nights."

"In your eyes?" Jessica chuckles.

"Yep!"

"That means you dream of daddy!"

"Yeah!  My dada, not my daddy Danny." He giggles.

"Well that's pretty great, baby!  I dream of daddy too.  What does he do in your dreams?"

"He hold me, and play wit me, and tell me I lub you Gwayson.. We do a lot, mommy!"

"Really?  Well how cool is that?!"

"Yeah, and when he in my eyes, I get to see my fwiend!"

"Your friend?  What's your friends name?"

"I no remember what I called her, but hers has gasses."

"She has glasses?"

Grayson nods and Jessica's eyes slightly widen.

"Oh wow.." She looks off into space with teary eyes.

"Why mommy sad?" Grayson stands on the bench and holds her cheeks in his palms.

"Mommy's not sad.  I'm just really happy you get to see your friend, baby." She smiles softly.

"Yeah.. I lub her!"

Jessica smiles and gives him a hug.

"She loves you too.. And I so do I... So so much, baby boy."

"Lub you too, mommy!" He pays her back with his little hands.

"Hey, you wanna go get daddy and take him out to lunch?"

"Yeah!!" Grayson answers with a big smile.

Danny was just getting off for lunch when Jessica and Grayson walked into his office.

"Daddy!"

Danny looked up from his work and smiled.

"Hey!  What a nice surprise!" He takes his glasses off and stands up to greet them.

"What are you guys doing here?"

"We wanted to take you out for lunch!" Jessica smiles.

"Awe, thanks!"

During lunch Danny didn't mention his mother, Jessica could tell he was still upset, but she wanted to save that for later, and just try to enjoy this time with him and Grayson.

"Alright, daddy has to go back to work, say bye bye."

"No!  I miss you!"

"Awe bud, I'll see you in just a few hours."

"And play games?"

"Of course!"

"Yay!!"

That night after Grayson was tucked into bed Danny and Jessica went to bed.

"You wanna talk about it?" Jessica says massaging his back.

Danny nods his head and Jessica sits beside him.

"I'm just so confused." He says as he begins to cry.

Jessica held his hand and with her free hand she rubbed his back.

"I'm mad at them.  I'm so mad at them!  But hearing her voice made me think... and now I have no idea what to do."

"You do what feels right to you in your heart.  I know this must be so hard for you.  I honestly don't know what I would do.  Just know that no matter what I will support you.. Okay?  I'll support what ever decision you make."

Danny looks down, then slightly nods his head.

"Thank you.."
