*Hey baby everything ok?*

*Yeah.  We're on our way.*

"Hey my love, are you ready to go home?  It's getting late."

"Yeah.. I love you daddy.  Just because I have a new daddy doesn't mean I don't love you with all my heart.  I love you both so so much.."

Jessica tears up as she watches him hug Sam's headstone tightly.

"He loves you too, baby." Jessica says just as a light sprinkle starts.

"Oh my gosh!" Jessica jumps and quickly covers the baby.

"Mommy, it's okay!  It stopped!"

"What was that?!"

"Maybe it was daddy saying, I love you too Grayson!"

"I bet it was." Jessica smiles.

"Oh no!  I almost forgot again!  Nova, this is my daddy.. Daddy, this is my baby sister Nova!  She's soooo cute!"

Nova smiles and Jessica giggles.

"She likes to be called cute!"

"Yeah.. Well I love you and I'll see you in my dreams, dada!" Grayson kisses his grave and runs off.

"We have a pretty amazing little boy, don't we, Sammy?  I love and miss you more than you'll ever know, baby." Jessica softly grazes her hand on his grave and places a kiss on it.

"Bye, my Sammy Wammy."

Back home.

"Daddy!!"

"Hey buddy!  How was school!"

"Good!" Grayson giggles and squeezes Danny as tight as he can.

"Did you miss me?" He chuckles.

"I did!  So so much!  Daddy, I love you and I'm so happy you're my daddy!"

"Awe Gray.. That's so sweet to say."

Grayson lays on his shoulder and Danny looks at Jessica who was just smiling at them.

"You did so well by sending this man to me, Sam." Jessica thinks.

"Who's ready for some dinner?"

"MEEE!" Grayson shouts before Danny tickles him.

"Let's go!!"

"Ahh!  Daddy!!" He laughs uncontrollably.

That night.

Daddy was in bed reading a book with his glasses on when Jessica came in wearing one of her short silk nighty's.

She climbed up on the bed and kissed his shoulder.

"What are you doing?"

Jessica laughs and says, "You wanna play?"

"God yes!" He throws his book to the ground.

"I've been waiting for this moment forever!"

Jessica giggles and says, "You have to be quiet, she's sleeping." She points to the bassinet.

"Me?  Oh please!  You're the screamer!"

"Ah!  I am not!"

"Okay, then try and control yourself while I give you the ride of your life!"

"Ohhh!"

"See?  I haven't even touched you and you're already making noise!"

"I'm sorry!" She laughs.

The weekend.

Jessica had told Danny about everything that happened and even told him how it started.  It all started when Shawn said his father taught him how to swim.

"I feel so bad.  It's been a crazy summer and we didn't really do anything."

"Honey it's okay.  We have a new baby and new grand baby, life is crazy right now."

"Yeah.. Well today we're all hanging out by the pool, I'm barbecuing and teaching Gray to swim!"

"Awe."

"And You're wearing a bikini!"

"Hah!  Not gonna happen!"

"Aw why?" Danny pouts.

"Because I said no!"

"Fine but after the sun goes down you and I are gonna have our own little pool party.. Naked." He smiles and pulls her body onto his.

"Daniel!" Jessica laughs.

"Daniel!  Daniel!" He mocks her and kisses her neck.

"I beg you both to stop it right now!"

"Oh Sam!" Jessica laughs and pushes Danny away.

"You two are like fucking rabbits!"

"Hey!  Language, young man!"

"Momma look!  I can swim!  Daddy's teaching me to swim like the fishies!"

"Awesome baby!  You're doing so well!"

"You're proud of me?"

"Of course I am!  I'm a proud momma!" She smiles.

Jessica sits back in her seat with the baby propped up on her legs.  She was in her hot pink swimsuit with hearts, sunglasses and a little white sun hat.

"Look at this little cutie in her beach wear!" Ann says walking up and sitting beside her.

Jessica chuckles and lightly scratches her nails on Nova's chubby belly.

"She can make a chubby tummy in a bikini look so cute!"

"Haha!  Yes she can!"

Nova smiles and arches her back as she kicks her legs on Jessica's stomach.

"Hey you silly goose!  What are you kicking me for?"

Nova giggles and continues stomping her little feet.

"Mommy, you want some of my hot dog?"

"I'm okay, Gray.  Thanks, buddy!"

"Sure!" Grayson sits on the edge of her chair.

Danny takes the baby from her and kisses her stomach making her let out the cutest little laugh.

"Oh my goodness, you're cute!" He smiles and kisses it again making her laugh even harder.

"Is you your tummy ticklish?  Huh, sweet girl?"

"This is so precious!" Jessica smiles and quickly snaps their picture.

One week later.

"A year ago today Little Nova was conceived! At lease I think it was today.. We had a fun week, didn't we, baby?" Jessica giggles.

"We did!!"

"Oh God, stop it! Stop!" Samuel whines and Jessica laughs.

"You told us about when Samuel was conceived!"

"Mom.. That's not the same thing."

Jessica laughs and picks the baby up.

"My beautiful little baby girl! One year ago today daddy put you in my tummy!"

"How mommy?" Grayson asks.

"Was it sex?"

"Grayson!" Jessica's eyes widen.

"I didn't say anything!" Sam lifts his hands.

"Grayson where did you hear that from?"

"Sam."

"Gray!"

"Samuel, will you please not teach your little brother about anything else!"

"Sorry.."

Jessica nods her head and says, "Anyway.. We need to get going. Nova, mommy is gonna miss you so so much today! You're gonna have so much fun with grandma though. You'll barely even miss me!"

Danny smiles as he watches Jessica with the baby.

"Okay.. Let's load her up!"

Danny takes the baby from her and showers her with kisses.

"Haha! She's laughing! Is daddy tickling your pretty face?" Jessica says in a cute voice.

"She's such a cutie pie!"

It felt nice being back at work, but Jessica missed her babies so much.

When she left work she drove to pick Grayson up, then drove to her mother's to pick up Nova.

"Hi baby girl! Mommy missed you! Were you a good girl for grandma today?"

"She was great! We had fun today, didn't we, Nova?"

She coos and Jessica giggles.

"Well good girl! Did she take the bottle okay?"

"At first she was like this isn't my mommy, get it out of my mouth! But then she was fine!" Dorothy chuckles.

"Hah! Well good!" Jessica lightly bounces the baby and kisses her forehead.

August 27th.

"Danny.. Five years ago today is when I had a miscarriage.. When we lost Felicity."

"Five years already?! Wow!"

"I know.. She'd be four years old.. When I dream of her that's how I usually see her."

"I just can't believe how fast time has gone by.. The boys are grown.. Grayson thinks he's grown.. We're married and now Nova's here.. A lot has happened."

"I know.. Our life is so great.. I just wish she was with us."

"I know, baby.. She's here with us though. Don't
forget that." Danny wraps his arms around her and rubs her back.

"I know.." Jessica speaks in a soft voice.

September 4th.

Grayson's POV.

"Ms. Joans.. I don't feel well.  My tummy hurts."

"Oh no!  Oh you do feel a bit feverish too!  Let's get you to the nurse!"

Grayson sat in the school office next to a small trash can.  He laid his head over the side of the chair with a pout on his little face.

"We're calling your mommy, Grayson."

"Okay.."

"Hello?"

"Hello, this is Julianne from Grayson's school."

"Oh yes.. Is everything alright?"

"We have Grayson here with a stomach bug and a fever."

"Oh no!  I'll send my husband to pick him up!  Thank you for calling me!"

"I wanna go home!" He cries.

"Daddy's coming to pick you up, sweetheart."

Grayson suddenly started to get sick.

"Ah.. I want my mommy!" He cries.

"You'll see her soon, Grayson."

"This is yucky!"

"I know, sweetheart. Let's go change you into some fresh clothes." The woman takes him to the back and Danny walks into the school.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Huston.  I'm here to pick up my son."

"Who's your son?"

"Grayson Shepard."

The woman who Danny had never seen at the school before, looked through Grayson's file and saw no record of Danny anywhere.

"Sir, I'm sorry but I cannot release him to you."

"Why not?"

"You're not listed under his father.  There's a Sam Shepard here."

"That's his birth father, he passed away.  I'm his step father."

"I'm sure you are but without any proof I cannot let you take him."

*Sighs* "Alright, let me call my wife."

"She'll need to come down here to approve you taking him."

"She can't do it over the phone?"

"No sir."

"Alright." He sighs.

"Hello?"

"Hey Jess, they won't let me take Gray.  You're gonna have to come over and approve it."

"What?  But I sighed a paper saying who you were and that you could pick him up!"

"Apparently they don't have it and I'm getting dirty looks for trying to pick up my own son"

"Ugh!  Okay, I'll be right there!"

"Just be careful!"

"I will!"

"Daddy!" Grayson got excited when he saw him."

"Hey bud!  You see?  He's my son!"

"I'm sorry, we can't release him until your wife gets here.  Because he's not legally yours I can't let him go."

"But he's my daddy!!" Grayson gets upset.

"It's okay, bud.  Mommy's coming and she's gonna fix this whole mess."

"Dada, I wanna go home now!" Grayson pouts and stomps his foot.

"I'm sorry, buddy.. Momma's on her way."

"Guys, this is my daddy!!  I've got two! Ones in Heaven, this is the other one."

Danny chuckles and says, "It's okay, Gray. Mommy just texted me that she's about two minutes away."

"Thank God! I don't feel well and I just wanna go home and throw up in my own potty!"

"Awe, I'm sorry, son."

"See!  He said son!!  Not stranger!" Grayson shouts.

Jessica walked in and they let Grayson out of the front office.

"My baby!  Oh you're so sicky!" She pouts as she feels his forehead then kisses his cheek and gives him a warm loving hug.

"Mommy, they said he's not my daddy!"

"He IS baby!  I don't understand I signed everything!  He's my husband and Grayson's step father."

At this time Julianne walked back in and smiled.

"Hello Dr. and Mrs. Huston!"

"Hi Julianne, a few weeks ago I signed all of the paper work and in that I said that my husband is his parent so that he is able to pick him up.  Now Grayson's sick and I'm at work so I asked his dad to pick him up and they're not letting him take him home unless I'm here.  Now I like that I know you're not just handing my child off to anyone who enters, but this is his father!"

"Ma'am since he's not legally his father we cannot-" The other woman starts talking and Julianne interrupts.

"Mrs. Huston I am so sorry for this mix up!  Of course he can pick him up!  You did sign all of that.  It was just a huge mix up and I apologize.  It won't happen again."

"Thank you."

Grayson held onto Jessica's hand and rested his head on her leg.

He didn't understand what they meant by him not legally being Danny's.  Danny was his father and that's all he knew.  Hearing this woman say he wasn't hurt him.

After picking Nova up from Danny's mom's house they all head home.

"Jess I hate this.. What if something was really really wrong and I couldn't get ahold of you.  I have no legal say at all.  I'm as useless as any guy off the street."

"Honey, it was just a misunderstanding."

"I know Jess, but.. Ugh, it just makes me so mad!  He's MY little boy!  Yes, I know I'm not his biological father but that little boy is my son!"

Jessica looked at Danny and was surprised to see him in tears.

"I know this is difficult.  I'm sorry, baby." Jessica softly touches his cheeks and gave him a hug.

"Now let's go talk to this sweet baby boy.. Look at him." Jessica says as they look over to Grayson who was sitting on the couch looking really upset.

"Poor kid.. *Sighs* You should've seen how hurt he looked.. He yelled at that new lady." Danny chuckles.

"Oh goodness, he did?"

"Yep!  He said, He is my daddy!  He said I wasn't a stranger."

"Awe!" Jessica pouts.

Danny and Jessica walk over to the couch and sit beside him.

"Momma, what did that mean lady mean?  Why am I not daddy's?  What's legal?"

"You are daddy's!  It was just a misunderstanding, baby."

"Is Nova legal?"

"Yes.."

"Why can't I be legal?"

"Honey.."

"You're my daddy!  I don't care what anybody says to me!  Your my daddy and I'm your son!" Grayson climbs onto his lap and hugs him tighter than he's ever hugged him before.

"I'm your baby boy, right?" He looks up to him with sad eyes.

"Of course you are, Grayson.  You'll always be my baby boy."

"Good.  I love you."

"I love you more.  I love you more than you'll ever know!"

Grayson laid on him and they stayed there for a while.  Grayson didn't want to let go and neither did Danny.
