Later that day Jessica and Danny's family all came over for Christmas dinner.
Grayson couldn't wait to show everyone his new puppy.

"Grayson!  Who is this?" Dorothy smiles.

"Gramma, this my new puppy!  Baby Fred!"

"Baby Fred?" She chuckles.

"His names Fred but I call him baby cause he's my son."

"He's your son?" Dorothy laughs.

"Yeah, gramma!"

"Well that's so cool!"

"Yeah, Sam wants my puppy, but I say No Sir!"

"Heh!  You're so adorable."

New Year's Eve.

The boys were all out, so Jessica, Danny and Grayson went over to Sarah and Evan's.

"Oh my goodness, Sarah!  Look at you, darling!"

"I know!  I'm getting so big!"

"You're carrying low, I think it's a boy!" Jessica says rubbing her belly.

"I don't know!  Two more weeks till we find out, I'm so excited!"

"That is exciting!"

"Riley!  I brought Fred!"

"Yay!  Let's go play with him!"

The kids take off to go and play, and the adults all sit in the living room waiting for the food to be delivered.

"Jess, you want a beer?  I'm gonna grab one for the guys."

"Yeah!  Here, I'll help you." Jessica gets up and they walk to the kitchen.

"So how are you?  How's everything going?" Sarah asks.

*Sighs* "Okay I guess."

"You don't sound okay."

"I'm just tired of always feeling like a failure."

"Honey, you're not a failure.  You've had four boys and that's something to be proud of!  Down put yourself down."

"I know.. I just know how much Danny wants a baby, and how much Grayson wants a sibling.. He's so obsessed with babies right now."

"Awe."

"It's okay.. I'm trying hard to except it.. It's just hard, you know?"

"Well of course.  I'm here if you need to talk."

"Thank you." Jessica smiles softly.

By the time the ball dropped all of the kids were already passed out.

"Look at these party animals!" Jessica chuckles looking at the three of them asleep cuddled up under one blanket.

"They're so adorable!" Sarah says.

"I know." Jessica yawns and says, "We should get going.  I'm gonna run to the restroom first." She pats Danny's thigh and stands up.

"Okay, baby."

When Jessica went to the bathroom she saw blood on her underwear.  Not just spotting, this was obviously her period.

Jessica cried and cried, she was so happy.

Once she was finished she washed her hands and called Danny.

"Are you okay?  Why are you crying?"

"Danny, I got my period!" She smiles.

"You did!" His eyes widen.

"Yeah!  Oh my gosh, I've never been so happy about having a period before." She laughs.

"Oh my gosh!  This is so great!  So the medicines working?!"

"Yeah!"

Danny holds her waist and looks deep into her eyes.
"This is it.  Baby, I know this is our year.  Things are gonna start turning around.  We'll have a baby soon."

"I hope so."

"I know we will."

Jessica smiles and Danny leans in to kiss her lips.

Two weeks later.

The boys were back at school, and today was Sarah's gender reveal party.

"Grayson, what do you think Sarah's baby will be?"

"I think it's a boy!"

"Okay, then you can wear your blue shirt!" She smiles.

"Yeah!  I like that shirt!"

"Good!" Jessica giggles.

"Baby watch the balloon when Evan pops it!  If it's a boy then blue stuff will fall out and if it's a girl then pink stuff will fly out!"

"I think it's a girl!"

"What!  But you're wearing blue!" Jessica tickles him.

Grayson laughs hard, making Jessica giggle.

Evan pops the balloon and blue confetti flys everywhere.

"It's a boy!!" Evan shouts lifting his fists in the air.

Jessica laughs and Grayson says, "They having a boy!"

"That's so cool!" Danny smiles.

"Mommy, what you having?  Remember I said I wanted a baby?  Is it in you's tummy yet?" He smiles.

"Not yet, sweetheart." Jessica kisses his cheek.

"But whyyyy?" He whines.
"I asked a long long time ago!"

"I'm afraid it's not that easy, bud." Danny rubs his back.

A few days later Grayson was starting daycare.
Since he would be starting preschool in the fall, Jessica wanted him to get used to being with other people besides family.
He was only going two days out of the week, but she still figured it would be good for him.

"Look at you in your new outfit!  Lookin stylish, bud." Danny smiles.

"Thanks!  Mommy dressed me!"

"Oh she did?  Well good job, mommy." Danny kisses her cheek.

"Heh!  Thank you."

"Mama, am I going to gramma Jane's today?"

"No baby, you're going to daycare today.  Remember that place we went to and we met your teacher?"

"Yeah.."

"Well that's where we're going!"

"Oh... No, I think I just stay home." He nods.

"Heh!  No you're not, I'm sorry."

"Why can't I go to gramma's?"

"You'll go there another day.  You'll have fun, baby.  At daycare you'll learn so many new things!"

"Gramma teaches me new things!"

"Knowing every name of the golden girls is not what I had in mind."

"But I like gramma!"

"I know you do, and you'll still get to see her.  This will be good for you."

"I don't think so." He nods his head and crosses his arms.

"You'll have fun, Gray!" Danny smiles.

"I know I won't."

Jessica chuckles and says, "Here, mommy and daddy bought you this cute little paw patrol backpack!"

"I keep that and I put my toys in it."

"Well mommy packed you some fruit and a pb and j sandwich, there's an extra set of clothes and little undies in case you have an accident."

"Mom.." Grayson nods his head refusing to look at her.

"Mom? You called me mom! What happened to mommy?"

"Mommy let's me go to gramma's.."

"Oh my goodness! And mom is mean? You little booger!" She says as she and Danny laugh.

"I not gonna have fun." He nods.

"Yes you will! Now let's go." She reaches for his hand but he refuses.

"Nuh- uh!"

"Grayson." Jessica tilts her head.

"I no wanna go!"

"I'm sorry! But you'll have so much fun and meet so many new friends!"

"I don't wanna!"

"Grayson."

"Nope." He says still not looking at her.

"Come on, bud. Let's go." Danny picks him up and he kicks his legs trying to get down.

"Let go of me, Danny!" He hits him with his fists.

"Oh it's mom and Danny today, huh?  You little poop!"

"I not a poop!" Grayson narrows his brows at Jessica.

When they get to the daycare, Jessica took many pictures of him, and even got him to smile in at least two.
Jessica and Danny walked in holding Grayson's hands. Grayson looked so cute with his little back pack on.

"You be a good boy, Grayson." Jessica kisses his cheek.

"Mommy and I will pick you up after work, okay?"

"No!" His face becomes red and his eyes fill with tears.

"Grayson, don't do this to me, sweetheart." Jessica hugs him.

"Mommy, don't go!" He clings to her.

"Grayson, I'll be right back! You'll have so much fun!"

"Mommy, please don't leave me. I'll be a good boy!"

"Gray, you're always a good boy! I'm not leaving you here cause you were bad. I'm leaving you here so you can learn! And to have fun! Mommy and daddy will see you soon, but you have fun and be a good boy, okay?"

Grayson pouts and looks at her with sad eyes.

"I love you, baby!"

Jessica cried the whole way over to her job.

"Baby, he'll be okay."

"I'm gonna call the school and make sure he's okay!"

"Go ahead, but I'm sure he's fine."

Jessica sighs and looks out the window.

"Thanks for the ride.."

"No problem. I'll pick you up after work. Did you need me to bring you lunch?"

"No, George is taking me somewhere. Thanks though."

"No problem. Have a good day." Danny gives her a kiss before she gets out of the car.

"Hey Jess. What's up? Were you crying?"

"Yeah.. Danny and I just dropped Grayson off at daycare."

"Daycare?" George raises his eyebrows.
"What about mom and Jane?"

"He'll still be staying with them. He's only going to the daycare twice a week. I just wanted him to be used to being away from family since he's starting school later on in the year."

"Oh that makes sense.
Man.. How is he already starting school?"

"I don't know.. It's crazy to think about, and it makes me sad.  My baby's a big boy now.."

After a long day Danny picked Jessica up and they headed over to pick up Grayson.

"Mommy!" Grayson runs to her.

"My baby! How did you like your first day?" She asks as she gets down to the ground and hugs him tight.

"I liked it! I made fwiends, and I made you and daddy a picture!"

"Oh thanks, bud! I love it!" Danny gets down to his level.

Grayson breaks away from Jessica's grasps and cuddles into Danny's chest.

"Awe, I love your hugs, Gray."

"Mommy says I cuddly!"

"You are cuddly!" Danny chuckles.

March.

Jessica was now off of her medicine and her last couple periods have been pretty regular. Now it was just a waiting game.
Today was Sarah's shower, and she was happy she had something to get her mind off of the fact that today marks five years since Sam was diagnosed with cancer.

Sarah's kids were at Evan's parents house, so Jessica decided to leave Grayson with Sam's mom, and only she and Danny go.

"Oh Sarah, you look beautiful, darling!"

"Thank you, Jess!  So do you."

"Thank you.  How are you feeling?  How is my little man?" Jessica rubs Sarah's bump.

"Good!  Just growing and moving around like crazy!"

"I bet!  What are you now?  Twenty six weeks?"

"Mhm!  It's getting closer!"

"How exciting!" Jessica smiles.

They played a game that involved diapers and stuffed animals.
It was to see who could change the most diapers before the time was up.

"We've got this, baby!" Jessica high fives Danny.

They start the clock and Jessica and Danny start changing diapers extremely quickly.

"Oh wow!  Look at Jess and Danny!" Sarah says as they take the lead.

"And time!  Everyone drop your diapers!"

Jessica chuckles and looks at Danny.
"Well I think we've had our work out for the day!" He says because they are both out of breath and slightly sweaty.

"And the winner is Jessica and Danny!" Sarah says.

"Woo!" Jessica lifts her arms in the air and giggles before she kisses Danny.

"Good job, baby!"

"It was all you!  I have a pro partner, you've change what?  Like a million diapers?"

"A million and one!"

"So cheesy, Mrs. Huston."

"Hm, maybe just a little." Jessica shrugs.

Danny chuckles and places his hands on her back to pull her in for a kiss.

"Who wants to play bobbing for nipples!" Sarah shouts.

"Heh.. Oh I do!" Danny smirks and looks down to Jessica's breasts.

"Stop it!" She laughs and pushes him away.

March 23rd.

It was a sad day because it was Sam's five year anniversary, but it was also a happy day because the boys were flying in for a week.

Jessica got up early and started getting ready, she wanted to get to the airport as soon as possible.

Grayson was in his stroller playing with Jessica's phone when they saw the boys.

"Ah!  My babies!" Jessica runs to them.

She hugs them all, then says, "Michael!  You have a little beard!  My little baby boy!" She baby talks.

He chuckles and she gasps.
"Zachary, you're too thin!  Let's go home and I'll make you all a big meal!"

After lunch James asked to speak with Jessica alone.

"Is everything alright, honey?"

"Yeah!  Everything's fine.. I wanted to tell you that um, well on top of working really really hard in school, I have a job."

*Gasp* My baby has a job?!" Jessica smiles.

"Yeah!  I was just keeping it from you because I knew you and Danny wanted me to just focus on school.  I've been saving some of the money I've been making at work, and the money you guys send us.."

"Okay." Jessica could tell James had something else to say.

"I've worked my butt off to become an engineer and I've already looked into things I can do here."

"I'm so proud of you, baby." Jessica smiles.

"Thank you.  I-I know I'm young, but like I told Danny.. I've seen the way you loved dad, and now I see the way you love Danny.  Caroline and I have that kind of love."

Jessica's heart starts beating fast.  She knew what he was about to say.

"I know that life is short.  Five years ago today a man that was.. The best man in the world was taken way too soon." James' eyes tear and Jessica's do as well.

"I want to enjoy every possible second with Caroline.  I want to treat her like a queen, the way dad treated you.. The way Danny treats you now.  I want to one day have kids with her.  Mom, I know this is right."

Jessica wipes her cheek and grabs his hand in hers.
"I want to ask Caroline to be my wife."

Jessica smiles and a small chuckle escapes her.
"My boy.
I am so proud of the man you've become.  I love you and I love Caroline.  I'd be more than happy for you to ask her to join our family."

"Really?" James smiles.

"Yes." Jessica nods.

"Heh!  Mom, I love you." James hugs her tight.

"I love you too, baby." Jessica closes her eyes and enjoys just being with her son.
