Finally home
August 20th- Michael's 17th birthday.
"Mikey! My baby boy! Oh.. I promised I wouldn't cry, but I lied! Give mama hug, my precious boy!" Jessica holds her arms out.
Michael hugs her and she says, "Happy Birthday! I'm so happy God blessed me with you. You are such an amazing young man."
"Thank you, mom!"
"I know I haven't been in the best mood, but I'm just really stressed with everything with your grandmother... BUT today is YOUR day and I want it to be special!"
"Mom, you don't have to apologize about that. What happened to grandma has affected all of us. It came as a huge shock and we're all just trying to learn how to deal with it."
"Look at my boy!" Jessica smiles at Danny and hugs him again.
"My baby!" She shouts in a cute voice.
Danny chuckles and says, "Happy Birthday, son."
"Thanks, coach." He smiles.
"Danny, give him his birthday present!" Jessica holds her hands in front of her face and jumps.
Danny laughs at her cuteness and Michael becomes curious.
"What?" He smiles.
Danny tosses him car keys and Michaels eyes widen.
"What! What are these?!"
"Dats keys!" Grayson points.
Jessica laughs and jokes, "These are keys, baby to a car."
"But I don't even have my license."
"You have a test today, happy birthday!" Jessica jumps.
"Oh my gosh! You two are the best! Thank you so much!" He says lifting Jessica up and spinning her around.
Jessica laughs and he puts her down.
"Coach! Oh my gosh, thank you!" He hugs Danny.
"You're welcome, Mike. You're a good kid, you deserve it."
**
"I passed! I can go anywhere I want now!"
"Not anywhere, mister!" Jessica points her finger at him.
He laughs and walks up behind her and wraps his arms around her.
"I promise, I'll be good." He kisses her cheek.
"You're always good, baby!" Jessica smiles and turns to hug him tightly.
"I'm so proud of my little guy!" She smiles and lays her head on his chest.
Michael laughs and hugs her back.
"You may be seventeen, but you'll always be my little guy!" Jessica looks up and smiles.

Jessica, Danny and the rest of the boys all went to the hospital to see Dorothy.
She was doing better and better everyday. The doctor saw her today and had news to tell her family.
"Dorothy is reacting perfect to her medicines, and is doing outstanding in therapy. With the help of Dr. Phan from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, I think she'll make even more progress. Her speech will more than likely take longer than anything, but I feel comfortable enough with telling you all that I see her making a full and complete recovery."
Jessica's whole family takes a huge sigh of relief.
"Thank you so much, Doctor.." Jessica wipes her tears.
"You're more than welcome! I also wanted to talk to you guys about moving her into a rehabilitation center."
"Why can't she come home?" Albert asks.
"Well she can. You would need a in home nurse to care for her though."
Albert sighs and says, "I'll discuss it with my family, and we will let you know."
"No problem." He smiles and walks out.
"What do you want to do, daddy?" Jessica asks.
"Well, I want her home! I hate leaving her here and going back to an empty house... But then again I have to think of her. I want everybody's input."
"Well if you want her home, Danny and I will pay for the nurse, and we can all chip in for the extra medical bills. If you chose for her to stay at the rehabilitation center then we can all help pay for that as well."
Jessica's siblings all agree.
"I couldn't ask you two to do that."
"No, Al, we want to." Danny says.
"Thank you very much.
.. I just don't know what to do." He sighs and holds Dorothy's hand.
She had therapy that morning, then saw the doctor, so she was worn out.
She looks at Albert and tries to speak.
"It's okay, sweetheart. I know you're tired, just get some sleep." He kisses her cheek.
"No.." She says in a low voice.
"What's wrong?"
"I... Wannnt to.. Go.... Hoome." Her voice was low and she dragged her sentences out.
"You'd rather go home?"
Dorothy slowly nods her head and brings her eyes to her kids.
"Dooon't paaayy.."
"Momma, don't worry about the money. We just want you to get all the help you need." Jessica says.
"If mom wants to go home, then we're all gonna help. We'll set up a schedule, I'll set it up!" Ann smiles.
Albert looks at his children with tears in his eyes, then looks at Dorothy and smiles softly.
"We have some good kids, Dee."

That night Danny and Jessica laid in bed.
"Danny, I haven't said anything because I didn't want to be even sadder than I already was, but.." Jessica looks down Danny wraps his arm around her.
"It's been a year since I thought I was pregnant.. Or was pregnant....
I just keep thinking what it was that I did, when everything went wrong."
"Sweetheart, it was nothing that you did. I can promise you that. These things just happen sometimes."
"Do you think there's something wrong with me?"
"No! No, the doctor even said it wasn't anything with you."
".... And then this whole stupid ovary thing! I'm so terrified that the cancer is gonna come back and I'll have to remove the ovary. Danny, if I couldn't give you a baby, then-"
"Jessie, stop." Danny holds her tighter.
"As long I have you and we have our boys, then I'm happy. If we're meant to have a baby together, then it'll happen when it happens. If not.. Then that's okay. We're okay." He looks down and smiles at her.
"And don't even say the word cancer. We aren't going to talk about that, okay?"
"Okay." She nods.
"I love you."
"I love you too."

Four days later.
"I know you know what today is, and I know you want me to be happy. So we're celebrating by taking Grayson to Chuck E Cheese!" Jessica says with tears in her eyes.
"Today's the day our little baby went to be with our lord.. She never had to feel pain, or heartbreak. She has only ever known happiness.. So that makes me happy."
Danny smiles softly and wipes Jessica's cheek.
"That's a good way to look at it."
*Nods* "It's true.. I'm going to try and be happy today. It's a hard day, but knowing our baby is safe.. It makes me feel better."
**
"Mom, did we really all have to come here?" Michael asks as screaming kids run everywhere.
"Mikey, what are you talking about? This is awesome!" Sam says running around with Grayson.
Jessica laughs at the sight and says, "Just have some fun with your brother, Michael!"
"Yeah Mikey, let loose! Go play some games." Danny says.
"It's Chuck e cheese!"
"Oh I'm sorry you're too grown to play with your little brother! Grayson doesn't have any siblings close to his age! Sam is like a two year old, but he's not. That's all he has! Just go play with him please."
"You're right.. Sorry, mom."
"Thank you!"
**
"Gray, look at mama! Smile, handsome boy!" Jessica says holding her camera.
Grayson looks at Jessica and giggles.
"Ah! You're so cute!"
"Mama, play wit me!"
"Okay! What game are we gonna play?"
"Dis! Dis!" He runs in place and points to the ball pin.
"Okay! *Giggles* Danny, can you hold my camera please?"
"Sure babe."
Jessica plays with Grayson, then takes him to the table for a little break.
"You two l looked like you were having fun."
"I had fun, daddy!"
"And I'm exhausted!" Jessica chuckles.
Danny laughs and Jessica smiles at Grayson, "But we did have fun!"

September 1st.
Today was the day Dorothy was coming home.
Over the last couple weeks she has continued to improve, but still has a long way to go.
"Gamma, you home!"
"Yeah, grandma's finally home!" Jessica giggles.
Dorothy smiles at Grayson and he lifts his arms for her to pick him up.
Dorothy gets a sad look in her eyes because she can't do the things she used to, including hold her grandson.
Jessica noticed and went and picked up Grayson.
She sat beside Dorothy's wheelchair and Grayson reached for Dorothy.
"Mama, I want gamma!" He cries.
Tears start rolling down Dorothy's face and Jessica says, "Gray.. Why don't you go to the kitchen and ask uncle George to give you a snack?"
"Cookies?" His eyes light up.
"Sure, whatever you want."
"Yay!" He slides down and runs to the kitchen.
Jessica wipes her mother's tears and says, "It's okay, mom. You're getting better and better every day."
"I can't... Hold him."
"That's why you're going to therapy. To get nice and strong so that you can pick that little monkey up!" She smiles through her tears.
"You're the strongest woman I know, and I have no doubt that you'll be back to your old self soon! I know you can do this, mom."
Dorothy looks into her daughter's eyes and Jessica gives her a soft smile.
Once Jessica's siblings came into the living room Jessica went to the hall.
Danny followed behind to see what was wrong.
"Hey. You okay?"
"No. Danny, that woman in there taught me to walk and to talk.. I never in my life thought I'd have to do the same for her. I know she'll get better, but I want my mother back now! Maybe I'm being selfish, but I miss talking to her and I miss seeing her run around with Grayson. What if she doesn't get back to normal? I couldn't take seeing her like this for the rest of her life."
Danny hugs her and says, "You're not being selfish. That's your mother, of course you feel that way. Sweetie, she's gonna get better. I know she will."
