"Daniel is your son?" Albert asks.

"Yeah, it's a long story and we come out really horrible in it, but.. Oh my gosh, he looks so grown up and handsome!  My baby boy is getting married?"

"Yeah, to our daughter."

"Huston!  How did that not click?!" Dorothy looks down with a puzzled look in her eyes.

"What happened, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Well, when Danny's wife passed away, the the baby had a very hard time.  I mean, he was two years old and his mother died!  Danny struggled being a single dad, but we helped him out as much as we could..

He started acting really strange, and was always working night shifts, but yet never had money for anything!  Angelica found out that Daniel had gotten into drugs and alcohol, and since she told us, we haven't spoken with him or Zachary." Danny's mom tears up just saying their names.

"Wow.."

"How is my grandson?  Does he do okay in school?"

"Yeah.. He's a really great kid."

"Good! I hate myself for what we did to Daniel and Zachary.."

"It was for his own good.  Look at how successful he is." John says.

"John, he is successful because he worked for it, and because your daughter helped him out with the baby!  Abandoning your child is never the right the to do." Dorothy nods.

"It was all we could do.  We did not raise our son to think that that was okay."

Zoe looked at John with sadness in her eyes.

"I didn't know what to do.. Now I wish I wouldn't have done it.. I wish that I would have called, and had been there for Zachary, because that little boy really has no one..

My son and my grandson spent so many holidays alone... That hurts me more than anything."

"Don't get upset, Zoe.  Daniel is a great father because we showed him tough love."

"Oh shut up with your tough love, John!  I missed so much of my son's life.. fifteen years of my grandson's life.. Now my baby met this beautiful woman.. and he's getting married.

Oh Dorothy, I wish I could take it back!  I really do."

"Zoe, why don't you call him?"

Zoe nods her head.

"No.. I-I can't.  He'll never forgive me."

"You don't know that.  No matter what, you're his mother and you calling him would make him so happy."

Zoe looks at her husband, then down at the table.

"I don't know, I'll think about it.."

"Oh my God!!  I have to call Jessica!" 

"Just stay out of it, Dee." 

"What?!  No!  What time is it?  She should be at work by now, let's go!"

"We're not going to her job just so you can tell her this."

"Albert!  We have to!  She and Danny are getting married in a month and he needs to talk to his mother!  If they find out that we know his parents and didn't say anything, they'll be mad!"

Albert sighs and makes a u turn to head to Jessica's job.

"Thank you!"

"Mom?!  What are you doing here?  Is everything okay?  Where's dad?!  Is it the kids?  Is it Danny?!" Jessica stands up and grabs her chest.

"No Jess, don't panic.  Everything's fine!"

"Then what's wrong?  Why are you here?"

"Your father and I had lunch with some friends of ours today.."

Jessica looks at her and there was silence.

"Okay.. Thank you for coming up to my work, and nearly giving me a heart attack just to tell me that you and daddy went out to eat brunch with your friends.  Thanks mom."

"No!  Jessie, listen to me.. Sit down."

"Mom, just tell me!  You're freaking me out!"

"It was Daniel's parents."

"What?

Did you call them?"

"No!  We've known them for a while, but today we found out that they were his parents.  I showed them a picture of him and Gray, and Zoe started crying.  She said that he was her son."

"Oh my God.." Jessica sits down and gets a look in her eyes like she'd just seen a ghost.

"I know.  

Jess, she told me what happened."

"She did?"

"Yeah.  Why didn't you say something?"

"Well it's not my story to tell.  Besides, he didn't tell me right away either.  Not until I called him out on it.  Angelica told me that there was more to the story that Danny was hiding from me.  He's just ashamed, ma."

"Awe, poor Danny!"

"I know.  What are his parents like?"

"They're really great people.. but today I saw a different side of both of them."

"What do you mean?" 

"Well when Zoe saw Daniel, her heart melted and she was in tears the rest of the time.  She said she regretted so much, but she doesn't think Danny would want to see her.  You could see that look in her eyes, Jessie.  The feeling you get when you just hurt for your child.  You're a mother, you know what I'm talking about."

"Yeah.. What about his dad?"

"He seemed so.. uncompassionate.  Zoe was just looking at him and seeing her baby boy that she hurt, where as John saw nothing wrong with what he did.  He said that's why Daniel is successful.  He thinks it's all because of him being a good parent."

"Bullshit!  He was not a good parent!  That's not why Daniel is where he is today.  He got there on his own, it was no help from them!"

"I know.. 

Jess, I told Zoe to call him."

"Do you think she will?"

"I don't know.  I've never noticed this before, but John seems to control her quite a lot."

"Really?"

"Yeah.  I think she might not have had much say in all this."

"Well that's her son!  I don't care if Sam would have told me to turn my back on one of my kids, or if Danny told me to do it, that is MY child!  I was the one that brought them into this world, Not You!  I would never let anything come between me or any one of my sons."

"I know."

"Mom, I was just telling Danny this morning that maybe he should call them before the wedding.  Not to invite them if that's not what he wants, but just to talk to them because it's been so long...

But mom, he looked so hurt.  It breaks my heart!  He is such a good man, and Zachary is an amazing kid.. They never deserved this." Jessica nods.

"I know, baby."

"Should I tell him?"

"That's up to you."

"What would you do?"

"Me?"

*Jessica nods*

"I'd tell him.  Jess, I know you're upset and don't agree with what Zoe went along with, but she really did look hurt and like she realized that the past fifteen years was a horrible mistake."

"... Well I'll see.  I guess I should at least tell him and let him make that decision on his own."

"I think that would be the best."

"Yeah.." Jessica says in a low voice as she looks down to the ground.

"Jessie, are you finished with the.. Mom?" George gives them a weird look.

*Laughs* "Sorry, baby!  I just came to talk to your sister.  But look at how cute my kids are working together and being good babies!" Dorothy smiles.

Jessica laughs and in a cute voice George asks, "Do I get a gold star, mommy?"

"Yes baby!  You get a gold star!  Muah!" She kisses her thumb and sticks it on his forehead.

"Thanks mama!"

"Oh goodness." Jessica rolls her eyes.

"Well I better get back to work.  Don't want the boss getting onto me."

*Gasp* "You better not, George!" Dorothy points her finger at him.

"I'm not!" He lifts his hands in defense as Jessica laughs.

That evening after dinner, Jessica made Grayson a warm bottle and put him in his crib.

When she went to the bedroom Danny was in bed with his glasses on, and reading a book.

"Hey baby, whatcha readin?"

"Band of brothers.  A patient of mine left it today so I brought it home."

"Nice! *Chuckles* What's it about."

"It's about this-"

"Great!  So baby.." Jessica interrupts, making him chuckle.

"My mom came to visit me at the office today."

"She did?"

"Yeah.. Her and my dad had lunch with some friends."

"Oh nice, where'd they go?"

"I'm not sure."

"Okay.. Well what'd she want?"

Jessica takes a deep breath and looks down.

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah.. Danny.. 

Man, I don't know how to say this."

"Jessie, you know you can tell me anything."

"I know.. I just don't know how to say this.."

"You're starting to scare me, babe."

"Everything's okay.. It's just... Well, the people they went out to eat with... They've been friends for a while, but never knew who they really were.."

"And who are they?"

Jessica swallows hard and looks at him with big eyes.

"Your parents."

"What?"

"Yeah.. They showed them a picture of you, I don't know why.. maybe they were telling them that I was engaged.  But she said your mother started crying, and that she said you were her son."

"She actually claimed me?"

"Yeah, and she said she really seemed like she knew she messed up."

"Oh did she?  Hm.. Well did she happen to tell your mother why she didn't even bother calling her grandson?"

"She told me that it looks like your father was the one.. Your mom seemed like she didn't have much say."

"That's a bunch of BS, because I know damn well that if I told you to turn your back on one of your boys, and not the rest, you'd be saying goodbye to my ass."

"Well yeah *Nods* That's what I told my mother."

"So no, I don't believe that!  

... You would never do that to your child, because You love them!" Danny looks into Jessica's eyes with tears in his.

Jessica's tear up as well seeing how upset he is.

"Fifteen years.  Not a single phone call.. Birthday card.  Christmas card.. Not a damn thing." He says with a single tear rolling down his cheek.

"Awe baby!  I'm so sorry I brought this up, I didn't want to make you upset." Jessica wraps her arms around him and brings his head to her chest.

"Why  didn't they care?  If one of the boys ever had this problem, or sickness, I would never ever do that to them!" Danny says crying as Jessica lightly rocks him back and fourth.

"I know, Danny.. I know.  You're a good man, Daniel.. We don't ave to talk about it anymore.. We don't have to talk about it ever again.  I'm so sorry."
